I sometimes have a problem with my 5T where the wifi radio will stop working soon after enabling bluetooth. My wifi network is on 2.4ghz and bluetooth (and USB3) can interfere with it, and I think that is what is happening here.
When this happens I will no longer be able to associate with my wifi network until I reboot the device.
Is there a way to fully reset the wifi or bluetooth radios from a shell? I could write a little script to run when my wifi radio breaks to fix it, rather than reboot.
Simply disabling wifi and bluetooth from the pulldown menu doesn't work. I don't know if it's possible to reset the driver or hardware somehow without a full reboot, but that would be nice.

I've upgraded my TyTn to WM6 using the new repackaged rom from Mrvanx, however I have a weird problem with the wifi.
It cannot see my router whereas before I upgraded there was always a strong signal.
I have set up the WPA encryption key etc. and also set the router up without encryption but it just shows unavailable in the list.
A neighbours network which is also WPA is found OK and it connects and asks for a key.
My laptop is connecting OK to the router so I assume all is OK with the router.
No mac filtering or anything like that installed in the router.
Noticed unlike old wm 5 the wifi Icon only stays active for about 20 secs even though in comms manager the WIFI icon shows it switched on?
Anyone got an idea what might be the problem. I do like the ROM but I do need my wifi on trips and I need to travel soon again so hoping I can fix this.

ROM 3.54,707.3 repackaged
Radio 1.03.03.10
WIfi Woes - part success - update
OK I found the answer but created another question ;-)
For security I turn off the SSID broadcast on my router. I turned it on and the TyTn immediately connected.
I always had a good connection on my original WM 5 ROM without SSID, but it appears the new one will not even see the network without SSID broadcasts.
Are there any other settings in the device to allow it to work without SSID because I am thinking that maybe some free WIFI accespoints have it turned off too?

Hi friends,
I have a terrible problem with my fine TouchPro2.
It constantly loses the wifi-connection. My old TouchPro1 never had these issues.
I have the actual HTC stockROM installed. Tried WiFiMonster - but again. After a few seconds it loses the connection.
Sometimes I'm able to download three, four mails, but then it breaks again :-(
Any idea?
re
To be more specific: WiFi goes off after 30 sec. or so. :-(
does wifi turn off? or simply disconnect? if it's disconnecting, first thing i'd do is reboot my router with wifi enabled on the phone and see if the connection improves. if wifi is physically turning off i'd guess it's an issue in the rom. maybe try another rom? and make sure wifi is set to "best performance" on phone.
Is this everywhere or on a specific router?
Does your connection drop after a certain activity (e.g. screen going into standby, opening a specific program, etc.)? Also, have you tried to backup your device and perform a hard reset?
Similar Problems
I've been having similar problems for about two weeks now.
I have tried several things like hard reset, soft reset, changing the rom, playing with the wireless connection and just about everything in the connection folder but no.
I my case, when I turn the wifi connection on through the comm. manager, it slows down the phone while its trying to connect and then it just goes off, leaving me with t-mo data connection. However, when I turn off data connections in comm. manager, it connects to the router and stays connected but it does nothing with the connection. Meaning, I am connected to the router, but somehow I won't be able to use the connections.
If anyone have any suggestion(s), I would greatly appreciated it.
solved...
Thx guys,
I performed a Hardreset and testet one by one the installed software... and found it: I installed a CommManager and it caused the WiFi-Problem :-(
thx

What do you mean "slows down the phone"?

If your wifi connects but you cant get out, check to make sure you don't have the proxy box checked in connection settings. I have seen this box mysteriously become checked in the past.
Just a little comment
I will be getting TP2 very soon, but speaking of WiFi problems in general..
I had 3 phone: TyTN II, Samsung Omnia & iPhone 3g. only the TyTN could connect to WiFi at home while the other two can connect but will not get any data... however, they worked flawlessly in numerous other locations...
the problem was with my linksys router
apparently some older routers not compatible with the newer devices...
just wanted to share
Ok. As of today, it seems to be working, thanks for the help. However, I think it might have been my router. I think it had something to do with overheating because I put my modem on top of it. But the funny part was, everything, with the exception of my phone, was connecting. However, the connection was never really strong or reliable.
Anywho, thanks for the suggestion, even though it didnt really help me, I appreciate the gesture.
Hi
I have upgraded a few months ago to Samsung's ICS 4.0.3 stock rom but rooted on my 989, and have noticed that when I pair my bluetooth headphones and begin listening to music, the Wifi hotspot cuts out (ssid disappears, lose IP address on computer). This case is also reproducible if I do the reverse. Eg. Start fresh (BT headphones not connected), and I start my Wifi hot spot, get the PC, or playbook or other device to connect to the Wifi. I can ping -t google or similar, without issue or any interruptions. The second I turn on on my bluetooth headset and it connects to the phone, the ping takes a dump, times out, and I lose IP connectivity to the phone's 192.168.43.1 IP. My BT headset is the RF-MAB2 for what it's worth, and this issue does not happening when using regular 3.5m stereo headphones in the headphone jack.
Is there any known solution or work around to this? I don't recall this being a problem in Android v3 honeycomb, as I did the exact same thing without issue.
Any ideas or suggestions? Can I somehow pull the tether Java jar app out from honeycomb and use it in ICS?
thanks,
Jonathan
edit: fixed some spelling whoops.
Before you go ahead and pull an app from an older Android version check to see if you are having the same issue with another Bluetooth device connected with your phone. I am on a custom ROM so I'm not able to reproduce your issue. Although, I have been able to use a PS3 controller through Bluetooth to my phone while Wi-Fi was on, without Wi-Fi losing connectivity.
Also, if you have a capable router, try changing between 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz to see if that works. Even though Bluetooth is using a different frequency, there is a chance that it is interfering with your Wi-Fi signal, especially if you have a lot of devices connected to the router at the same time. You can also try changing the channel of your router and see if that does anything.
There may be other solutions but what I have mentioned is worth attempting to start troubleshooting your issue. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look for another BT device; I hadn't thought about that one. I usually only use tethering when im away from home, so there aren't any SSID's that show up in the wifi networks that should be interferring. Perhaps your onto something with my specific BT device and the new ICS not liking something about it, I will try an ebay ad2p / bt 3.5 mm adapter and see if it works any better, as they're cheaper than ~50 for a trial and error at futureshop.
Let me know if anything else comes to mind - thanks
Alright, so I've heavily tested this with a ton of bluetooth devices and 5 access points, both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz.
When I have both wifi and bluetooth on, with the device connected to both services (both a BT device and an AP) neither radio works. WiFi says connected, but doesn't load anything, can't ping out at all. Bluetooth will find the device, connect, and disconnect within a few seconds.
I tested the same devices but only using one radio at a time and all the BT devices stay connected with WiFi off, and all APs are connected and load data with BT off.
Does anyone know what's going on? I've suspected this to be an issue since 4.0, but it's still around in 5.0.1. It's persistent across ROMs and RUUs, so it can't be a rom issue. Currently I'm on Viper 4.6.1, S-off, SCID (although this happened before I S-Off'd as well)
Does anyone else experience this issue? Any potential fixes?
I run into something similar periodically...
My 5ghz wifi always works no matter what.
2.4ghz / bluetooth will work for 2-3 days... then it stops... no 2.4ghz SSIDs show up in wifi and no bluetooth device will connect... Even turning BT/Wifi/Airplane on or off in any combo. Only a reboot will fix it.
My friend also started having this issue.
I've been all over and no one has a solution. I use an android wear device, so bluetooth is necessary :/
Hi all,
I've encountered a strange and annoying problem with my H/U. Unit is a PX3 based Hizpo 6.2" Running 7.1.2
My problem is, when I turn on hotspot manually on my phone, the H/U happily auto connects and internets is available for spotify etc etc.
But, when I use an app (Hotspot start, Carspot ready, Car Automatic, or even made a flow in Automate) to automatically turn on my phone's hotspot when the bluetooth connection has been made, my H/U will not connect, it gets stuck at 'Obtaining IP address'.
I've tried lots of things but no joy.
Please help, thanks!
There was a change made to the Android system which stopped apps from enabling services. wifi is a service and can no longer be started by apps. I ran into the same issue a while back. It was all working perfectly for a while then an update borked it.

I got same issue I tried doing factory reset 2 times then it’s started working for 5 day then again same issue
I had the same problem and I solved it by disabling screen lock and using Tasker with secure settings and toucktask to simulate manual hotspot activation.
