Android 10 - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Will the note 8 get android 10 as I have yet to see any news about it and the note 8 Pro has it and the 8A is about to but what about the note 8?

It will... But nobody knows when.. Probably in February or March

I also searched on the miui forums, no information ?

MIUI 10 for Note 6 Pro?

I've visited the MUIU 10 website and it's not available for Note 6 Pro, but it is available for the Note 5 Pro! How does this make any sense?? Would it be possible to flash the Note 5 Pro on the Note 6 Pro? Here is the link http://en.miui.com/thread-3832387-1-1.html

Andoid One 10 discussion thread.

Last generation Android Pie was launched on August 8 and around November 27 the Mi A2 Lite received the Pie update. This year, Android 3 is rumored to launch on September 3 and would probably come to Mi A2 Lite in the following months.
Will you upgrade the day it launches or will you wait a while longer before updating?
In this thread we will discuss news, bugs and solutions for the new upcoming Android 10 update.
Update:
Android 10 was finally launched and updates for Pixel devices started rolling out. Also, Xiaomi is not far behind releasing day one update for the Xiaomi K20 Pro (MIUI//China//India).
Since MIUI is a heavy skinned Android version we can't be sure yet about any bugs in Android 10 for the Android One program. Stay tuned.

With this phone, I think I've been in the lucky part of users (never had big bug or blocking issue all along updates)
But I will definitely do the same as for Android 9 :
Wait at least one or two weeks, and use this time for browsing forums likes XDA before taking a decision...
And I agree with you, system wide dark mode seems to be the more interesting feature (with native screen recording)
As i love Always to test new
I'll install the new os when it release
I will since I'm hoping they fix a bug in which the bluetooth and the wi-fi can't work together because wi-fi slows.

I never experienced that bug in Android Pie. I always keep both on since Bluetooth connects to my smartwatch and car and I never bother turning off wi-fi. Wi-Fi works normal at decent speeds.
Mi A2 Lite 4/64 model.
Any idea if enabled Camera2 API will survive the update to Android 10?
How about the prior update from Oreo to Pie with enabled Camera2 API? Does it still work afterwards?
I strongly hope they fixed all those Bluetooth issues
Has anybody installed the GSI?
This image was found on a subreddit for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. This seems like good news since it was posted about 8 days ago.
Maybe we should expect Android 10 in the October update.
This messages are from Xiaomi support Great Britain.
please do not share information without verifying that it is correct

It's quoting the same debunked source mentioned a couple posts above. So hold your horses, it won't come next week.

That's just like... uhm, your opinion. This is a discussion thread and ... guess what, people discuss.
The K20 Pro received the Android One 10 update on September 24. The K20 runs on Android One unlike the 9T which runs on MIUI.
This means that the Android One 10 is now ready, it just needs to be tweaked for every supported Android One device. As we see until now, the Mi A2 will get it first, about 1-2 weeks prior to the Mi A2 Lite. That's what we have to check out, the global version of Mi A2 official forums.
For example the screen rotation glitch was knows 2 weeks prior from we getting it on our Lites. When we got our update, surprise, the screen rotation glitch... And it took them 1 more increment to fix that problem for both devices.

And where is the beta program? It has not started yet. An update without it is unlikely.
On the global MIUI forum (also from customer support) there was information that Android 10 will appear for us in November. If the beta program starts in October, it will be likely.
It should be remembered that MI A3 will have a priority in update, and the beta program did not start for this model.

Android 10 had a Google beta program, not OEM beta program. Xiaomi was in the program from the beginning. The Android 10 Beta Program ended in August with Beta 6.

Android 10

The true is this

Nah i guess MIUI 11 with Android 9
Oh. my bad -_- I didn't notice your screenshot.
I searched a lot about this matter. I don't think Android Q is available for Redimi 7 yet. Gsmarena somehow messed up their information as they're saying redmi 7 launched with Nougat in 2019. That's crazy!
I'm sure Xiaomi will give us Q. It's just a matter of when, as it's a budget phone. This phone probably is not high in their priority.
That's good news though it's pretty much guaranteed that the Redmi 7 would get only one major Android update. The only question now is "when?".
As per some sources, Redmi 7 may receive MIUI 11 with Android 10 update on Q1 of 2020.
@Amitava_123 could you quote such source? from what I saw, Redmi 7 wasn't mentioned anywhere on Xiaomi Android 10 update roadmap

it's for miui 11, not for android 10
well from what I heard from androidauthority, in order to upgrade to Android 10 you need vulkan 1.1 which isn't available on redmi 7's snapdragon 632 that only has vulkan 1.0 so it's still uncertain whether we'll get Android 10 or not
so first xiaomi phone ever to not even get one major Android update? I guess we're ****ed
We'll just have to wait for news next year for a planned Android 10 upgrade.
Redmi Note 7 is planned to receive Android 10 in Q1 2020. It's probably gonna take longer than that for them to upgrade one of their budget phones.

Note 10+ 5G will see Android 12? (and Note 10+ 4G only Android 11?)

Samsung always provides 2 OS updates for each flagship. Does that mean that the Note 10+ 5G will see Android 12 at some point? (since it came with Android 10 out of the box) and... The Note 10+ 4G will see Android 11 but not Android 12? Or maybe both Android 12 or both Android 11? Anyone seen any oficial information regarding future updates on Note 10 line?
There is a lot other more crucial issues for you to worry about before that

As you stated, 2 major updates are to be expected, but, remenember this: this device was designed alongside android 9.0, therefore, dont worry about future updates, whoever chose this device, made the choice upon the device, not the android version, so it is pointless to worry about what major updates it will or will not receive, I still have a note 8 running perfectly on 7.1.1 eventhougj there is 9.0 available for it, I did not update as I found a very messy mixed bag of opinions in this and other portals about 8.0, not to mention 9.0, the fact is that the note 8 came out with 7.1.1 and works really fine this way

Question Oneplus 9 pro android updates

Hi was just wanting to know how many android updates oneplus 9 pro will get will it get android 13 and 14 thinking of buying one
Thanks
13 yes. 14 not I think.
Ships with 10, then 3 majors 11,12,13.
Guess that's it then for OP 9 pro

all devices from the oneplus 8 get 3 major updates and a total of 4 years of security updates (smaller devices are excluded)
And the 9/9p was released with Android 11 (12, 13, 14) and I think 15 will also get it as a beta
It says out of box android 11
Yeah, you guys are right. It had 11 when it was released, sorry. So yes, 14 would then be the 3rd major. I'll leave my wrong post above as is so the other posts remain sensful.
