no network location on Google pixel XL - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have recently purchased a used Googler pixel XL and flashed Lineage OS 16 (nightly 2020-01-02) from the official downloads.
So far I really like it, except that I have an issue with my GPS location. It started, when I wanted to use Waze for navigation. The position on the map was not accurate enough to follow the street. After a few research I tried to modify the GPS.conf in /vendor/etc but couldn't due to missing permissions (even though I have root with magisk and total commander tried to remount the system partition with rw).
I tried the magisk module "Global Optimized GPS File Replacer",but no luck.
I can get a gps-only fix, but that needs around 2-5 min and afterwards the accuracy is so bad, that it renders any navigation app useless.
When I try to set the GPS-Setting in the notification area to "high accuracy" it is not saved. As soon as I close the notification drawer it is set back to "Device only". Maybe my device is missing some package that I have should flashed?
Of course I updated to the latest nightly.
I flashed the following packages / ROMs:
- lineage OS 16.0 (nightly 2020-01-23)
- TWRP 3.2
- open GApps micro 9.0 for arm64
- magisk 20.3 with Magisk Manager 7.5
- magisk module Global Optimized GPS File Replacer
I'm kind of out of ideas. Does anybody have another idea that might help?
Thanks,
Michael

Thanks for the links.
One think I don't understand is: does lineage os 16 support network based location services in general?
- if yes why is it not working on my phone?
- if no, do u have to install a framework like Unifiednlp?

I don't know the answers to your questions. My suggestion would be to post the questions on the lineage 16 thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pi...-lineage-16-0-pixels-sailfish-marlin-t3830083

I found the solution for at least the high accuracy settings. I had to enable Google location services afterwards I could enable high accuracy.
But still the accuracy is not great. I will make some tests.

Fair enough.
For some reason I thought that new version of yours ROM is based on reteu.
Can you share full 7.0 reteu from the screen?
I've been looking everywhere for this version.

OK, if OP won't answer this question, then I will...
I performed a dirty flash over the previous version of this ROM, without first removing SU and SuHide. I wiped the cache prior to flashing, but left the other partitions alone. No problems with the flash and the phone rebooted with all apps intact, except for root, as expected.
Reflashed SU, then SuHide after a reboot. All OK, except that the updated ROM will not pass the SafetyNET test. I tried removing and re-installing SU and SuHide, but SafetyNET still fails.
I can live without that since I don't do mobile banking, but I can't speak for all.
Thank you for your work.
can you share the Stock firmware or OTA package? i can't get the OTA update.
5GHz
everything good so far only cant find 5GHz wifi access points although i caan create 5Ghz hotspot on XT1581

I don't really see why anyone should block your account as this is only official firmware.
Not source code or anything like that.
Can you at least share all content of zip file apart from system?

I have modified /system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini file and changed 11mode from auto to 11AC still cant find AC (5GHz) access points dat i used to connect to it with my phone XT1581
Hi, I join the request that you could share the original firmware, in my case I like a clean installation I do not like the OTAs. And I need to have my SmartPhone unmodified by the apps of the banks and others that detect the modification of system.
Please a need this firmware KINZIE_RETMX_DS_7.0_NPKS25.200-12-4_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
Thanks very much..
I have read that everything is fluid but there is no voLTE support? Will you be able to add voLTE feature? And even dolby or viper preinstalled or patch? And also regular fixes and updates
"Non-hacked" version for SafteyNet check?
Hi!
Great work on the ROM, but it is possible to do a parallel version that is the "pure/unaltered" 7.0 MX ROM with the scripts to provide the appropriate modem file for the phone in question? I could be wrong, but maybe a stock 7.0 will pass SafetyNet, even with a different modem file (IE, China XT1581)?
It seems that at this point in time the only phones that really -need- a modded 7.0 are the Chinese XT1581's since they will probably never receive a 7.0 update, nor will they ever have G-Apps.
How to pass SafetyNet with this ROM
The first version of this ROM (April OTA) happily passes SafetyNet with either SuperSU / SuHide or Magisk installed with default settings.
However, with the second version of this ROM (July OTA), SafetyNet will report a CTS Profile Mismatch with BOTH rooting solutions, regardless of whether you performed a dirty or clean install of the ROM.
To pass SafetyNet, you require a current version of Magisk installed (I used 13.6 beta), which will initially fail the CTS test. You then need to install the Universal SafetyNet Fix module from within Magisk.
SafetyNet should now pass both tests.
PS. As an added bunus, this also changes the Device Certification to Certified within PlayStore settings :good:

Cool!
Since this ROM can't ever be updated via OTA, I assume that this "fix" would be essentially permanent? (or maybe future gApps updates might change the detection methods?)
Also, can you quickly describe the installation process for the latest version of Magisk (it seems that it's installed with TWRP and the an app is needed as well...)
Thanks!

Yep, it's pretty easy on this ROM, assuming that you already have TWRP 3.1.1 recovery installed.
Note that SafetyNet has both server side and local components which test a number of different attributes of your device. The data collected locally is assessed by the Google Play servers which then determine whether, or not, all of the necessary criteria are passed for certification. Magisk attempts to fool the local device component (Play Services) into providing a "clean" data set to the Google servers, so that they certify the device. However, Google keep increasing the scope of these local tests via Play Services updates, so Magisk is in a constant cat and mouse game. Luckily for us, the Magisk developer is far more responsive than Google is, in this respect, so in practice the SafetyNet tests will almost always pass and when they do not, a Magisk update will be quickly released to fix it again.
If you have another root app installed, then you must fully uninstall it first. For SuperSU / SuHide, do the following...
1) Uninstall SuHide first from the Apps Drawer and make sure the icon disappears
2) Go into SU settings and run the Full Unroot option...
3) Say YES to re-installing the stock boot loader...
4) Say NO to re-installing stock recovery
5) Reboot
6) Check that you no longer have any root access
7) Download Magisk 13.6 beta from XDA
8) Boot into TWRP
9) Install Magisk ZIP from TWRP and reboot
10) Run Magisk Manager, then SafetyNet test - this will fail the CTS Profile test
11) Go into Magisk Settings and select Grant for Automatic Response (plus any other options you prefer)
12) Reboot
13) Go back into Magisk Manager then Downloads
14) Download and install Universal SafetyNet Fix
15) Reboot
16) Run Magisk Manager, then SafetyNet test - this should now pass both tests!
17) Verify Device Certification within PlayStore Settings menu (you may need to run a general PlayStore update first)
Done :good:

[GUIDE] GSI ROMs installation tutorial. In pursuit of the best ROM that is not MIUI

Disclaimer: I am not a developer (I don't code), but I have been flashing ROMs for many devices over the years. This is more of a practical guide from an end-user perspective in pursuit of finding the best ROM for this magnificent hardware. This is more of a compilation of all the relevant information I found. I'm very open to suggestions/corrections that could improve this.
Disclaimer: Only tested with RR, PixelExperience, and ArrowOS GSI.
I haven't seen a proper guide to flash GSI ROMs for Mi Mix 3, thus I decided to share what I know that works. I put a brief explanation for each step below.
1. Unlock Bootloader - If you haven't done so yet, I recommend following the instructions in https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/wiki/bootloader
2. Install TWRP
a) I recommend to use the official TWRP from this link https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimix3.html or refer to the forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3901261.
b) To install TWRP, I recommend to follow the instructions from Xiaomi.eu. For those not familiar, the "twrp.img" in the code should be the full path of the file. Something like "D:\folder\twrp.img"
c) If you have an older version of TWRP, I suggest to update it to the official.
3. Install Xiaomi.eu - Start from this step in case of bootloops or issues (especially caused by Magisk modules by my experience)
a) This is what I do instead of the 'flash vendor.img from Chinese Dev' prerequisite mentioned in other threads. This is an easier step (just one flash in TWRP) and a better fallback (a working ROM) in case things go wrong. I have had no issues (fingerprint, calls, etc..) with this and I've done this thrice.
b) Download the latest MIUIv10.2 Stable for MIMix3 from the link https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-10-0-10-1-10-2-stable-release.47170/.
c) Wipe > Format Data (prevents problems, and removes encryption if you had it). Also do Factory Reset (idk, just to be sure).
d) Copy xiaomi.eu ROM to internal storage, then Install > Flash. No need to boot/restart, proceed to the next step.
4. Install GSI ROM - wth is GSI? https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Frequently-asked-questions-(FAQ)
a) We can actually install any GSI in https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development but there is an issue in installing Google Apps (Open GApps) as many people mentioned in https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/development/9-0-resurrection-remix-v7-0-t3891975 and as confirmed by the official TWRP thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...p-recovery-t3901261/post79035909#post79035909
b) Given the above, the only feasible options are GSI ROMs with built-in GApps and the only 2 I found are PixelExperience GSI and ArrowOS GSI. As GApps is integrated in the system.img, no need to flash Open GApps thus no issues. Having tried both, I personally recommend ArrowOS due to the performance and additional customization options.
c) Download the arm64 AB version (ArrowOS as an example) https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...abled-device-development/gsi-arrowos-t3835111
d) Copy the resulting system.img to internal storage (extract if its a .zip), in TWRP click Install > Install Images > select system.img of ArrowOS > select System partition. You can now boot, or follow next step to root with Magisk.
5. Install Magisk
a) The Magisk version that passes SafetyNet is the builds from ianmacd https://github.com/ianmacd/MagiskBuilds look for v18.2 (newer versions might work but I haven't tried them yet). You can still use the official Magisk Manager and the ianmacd version will be recognized. Just change the update channel in Magisk to https://goo.gl/yZpnrf. Credits to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/how-to/root-magisk-18-2-mix-3-t3905754
b) After flashing Magisk, boot, install Magisk Manager, then download and install the module "SafetyPatch". SafetyNet check will now be success.
c) Even though SafetyNet is passed, some banking apps still are not working. Hopefully someone can share a solution (probably MagiskHide Props Config, or canary builds?) to make banking apps work.
Final Thoughts
ArrowOS GSI seems to be stable enough and I'm using it as my daily driver now. I am so much happier compared to when using MIUI Global ROM. I really like the performance (very fluid), battery life (a lot better than MIUI Global), customizations (like traffic indicator, status bar stuff), unli Google Photos, and everything that makes AOSP/stock android awesome. No more bloatware, annoying non-dismissable notifications, and horrible auto brightness from MIUI.
The only real issue I encountered so far is the bluetooth audio/music issue, but this seems to be a common problem in GSI ROMs. Bluetooth calls work though. There is no app to handle the slider (but I don't care. lol). Lastly, the AI button becomes useless, but see below for the fix.
Optional stuff that makes things better:
1. Remapping AI button - When using GSI ROMs, AI button becomes useless. But to map it back to Google Assistant (or anything actually), follow the instructions from this thread (needs some knowledge about Tasker). https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78523778&postcount=38 For the Tasker Task, I selected Input > Voice Command. This now assigns the button to open Google Assistant. Does not work well when screen is off though, but its just easy to unlock.
2. Google Camera - The main reason why I bought this phone. Google Camera brings out the best in the awesome camera - Use this version https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/themes/gcam-6-manual-focus-long-exposure-t3885610
3. Stereo Speaker Mod - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/themes/magisk-stereo-speaker-mod-mix-3-t3900580 Makes the phone earpiece into a speaker, increasing overall volume. I personally use version 3 and I'm very happy.
4. Fluid NG - App in Google Play Store to have the same recents/home/back gestures from MIUI 10.

2. Google Camera - The main reason why I bought this phone. Google Camera brings out the best in the awesome camera - Use this version https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/themes/gcam-6-manual-focus-long-exposure-t3885610
3. Stereo Speaker Mod - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/themes/magisk-stereo-speaker-mod-mix-3-t3900580 Makes the phone earpiece into a speaker, increasing overall volume. I personally use version 3 and I'm very happy.

Not all GSI work ontop of Xiaomi Eu
Flashing magisk and safety net patch also doesn't guarantee safety net passing on a few of the GSI as well. CTS will fail for obvious reasons

Noted. Which GSI have you tried that do not work on top of Xiaomi.EU? I tried RR, PixelExperience, and ArrowOS and all work well. I can put this as a disclaimer.
Any solution for the Magisk safetynet, or is this really the best solution available so far?

Can't remember as it was a while ago, possibly OctoOS and descendant and 1 other, omni ROM maybe.
For the ones that come with SU you need to navigate to the xbin folder in the system and remove the SU file.
Then cause Xiaomi EU uses the wrong fingerprint props you need to use the magisk props config module and manually type in the mix 3 fingerprint (unless the module has been updated to include mix 3).
If you installed the Chinese dev vendor then the props will be there ready to be used so the magisk module can make them active without manually typing it. This will sort out both safety net fails.
If this was sometime ago, the features in China Dev would have already been integrated in the latest China Stable, which is the basis of Xiaomi.EU.
Maybe you can test it now to see if Xiaomi.EU really works. I tried it with RR, PixelExperience, and ArrowOS and I'm facing no issues. So flashing China Dev vendor.img seems to be an outdated instruction.

The 3 GSI you mention is a very small sample of the GSI available so you can't say it's an outdated instruction. Have you tested them all like I have? No you haven't.
Xiaomi EU does not use the correct mix3 vendor.img, that's what causes the issue.

Ok, I'll put a disclaimer that this only works on RR, PixelExperience, and ArrowOS. Anyway, I'm sure that the latest stable Xiaomi.EU vendor works without any issues with ArrowOS, else why would I be using it as my daily driver.

SafetyPatch module

Credits to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-...mix-3-t3905754
b) After flashing Magisk, boot, install Magisk Manager, then download and install the module "SafetyPatch". SafetyNet check will now be success.
c) Even though SafetyNet is passed, some banking apps still are not working. Hopefully someone can share a solution (probably MagiskHide Props Config, or canary builds?) to make banking apps work.

Of course not. No V30 LOS-based ROM has VoLTE and never will. That has to be present in the V30 parent LOS tree, and that Dev says it's basically impossible. So, it will never be a feature in a ROM based on V30 LOS. It's only possible in V30 stock-based custom ROMs like A.I.X.
Here's the V30 Custom ROMs FAQ -- which is linked in the WTF Instructions to read before you actually bootloader unlocked your phone. See #5.

can you use microg with this rom?
I really like the build and speed of this. WiFi worked right out the gate which is what prompted me to ditch trying to get Android 10 working. The ROM doesnt include any of the google apps so I used NikGapps to get the store and things working.
The issue is that any games or apps request that i use the google play services which is already installed and running. Not sure how to overcome this. Anyone else have this problem and perhaps a solution?
Edit: Nevermind. I used the unofficial open gapps and it worked fine. I included it in the zip queue from TWRP when i flashed the rom. I did the following:
Manually wipe (format) your System partition
Flash your ROM
Flash Open GApps package
Wipe the Dalvik & cache
Reboot
Is it good for a daily?
@supremmotu

Any way you could upload the ROM to another file hosting service such as mega? When I try to download from the link it says there have been too many downloads in the past 24-hours.
Can't wait to test out Android 11 on this excellent device.
Edit: I was able to get through and download it

So far so good (US998) - Wifi works, cell service works, GPS seems to work, tethering works. I'm running Magisk v22 fine, I installed Magisk App Debug and flashed Magisk-22.zip (just rename the apk to .zip) and MicroG works fine without the need to mess around with signature spoofing.
Edit: I could only get tethering to work from wifi, not mobile data (for internet access)
My only gripe is the always on display setting (always show time and info) glitches out so you can't really use it. If you try to turn the phone on the screen goes black and stays that way. I tried using a 3rd party app Always On Edge, but it uses too much battery to use aside from charging. FM Radio also doesn't work, but that isn't a deal breaker for the newest Android for me.

Try the Always On AMOLED app from the store. I've been using that for the last year as an alternative to the broken AOD on Android 10. I haven't noticed any significant battery drain, perhaps because, as the name suggests, it's designed for AMOLED displays.
@Osprey00
Ty so much. This app seems a lot better. I had an issue at first where the permissions wouldn't go through, I just killed the app and cache and reloaded then it worked.
It also seemed to drain the battery a ton at first, but then I rebooted my phone and stopped messing with the settings so it seems fine now.
I also was wrong about tethering working, I could only get tethering to work via Wifi, not mobile data for internet, which defeats the purpose, maybe someone has some ideas viewing this?

Even though you worked around it by using the app that I recommended and may even prefer to continue using it, I just saw this AOD fix on Telegram, credit to ɐoɔɐɾ:
This should fix the black screen bug when waking the device from sleep with aod on
This is tested and confirmed to work on DotOS and LineageOS A11, it is not for A10 and may not work on other A11 roms
Flash this after first boot, may not fix ddtw

Hi, I have just flashed this ROM and it is great so far. Everything works fine exept finger print sensor. I am able to unlock the device etc. but sensor is not accessible in some apps (internet banking, Lastpass). Have you experienced this issue, too? It is a bit annoying, especially for these apps wher biometrics is essential. Thank you.

Yes. Use the microg settings to grant the spoof permission (tap the unchecked "system spoofs signature" box to trigger the requst) and run
Code:
pm grant com.android.vending android.permission.FAKE_PACKAGE_SIGNATURE
Thanks for the build, it seems solid. Some minor features (e.g. edge lighting, voicemail notifications) that didn't work on HavocOS for me work out of the box here. There are only two issues so far:
- The styles and wallpapers system app doesn't work: it won't open whether accessed from the launcher or in the settings menu. I can change wall papers and icons using the shortcuts from long pressing on the home screen, but not theme/colors (it crashes if I pick that tab)
- I cannot get file transfer over USB to work; the phone doesn't show up in Windows explorer. It's not my box or cable; the same setup works just fine for USB debugging or file transfer in TWRP. I had the same issue on HavocOS, but there swapping off file transfer and back would trigger detection, but not on this ROM
This ROM has less customization than some (you can't swap the navbar layout, for example) but this looks nice. I'll try this out as a daily driver for a week or two and see.

I fixed the USB issue by doing a reinstall and not using the stock kdz first (flashing directly to a fresh format). According to the dev, the styles app requires GApps, so it won't work if you use microG
I'm also having success with this ROM. I tried a couple of other (A 10 based) ROMs, but couldn't get the wifi to work despite loading old modems etc. Revenge appears to be fully functional (with the exception of spotty fingerprint access as noted above). For me the hotspot also worked straightaway.
Nice rom, simple whit FMradio application.
Installed on a freshly unlocked and rooted H930 with pico Gapps (open_gapps-arm64-11.0-pico-20210130-TEST.zip). But I'm stupid, I saw the instructions afterwards, and I didn't install a recent pie stock rom after the root, I've install directly this rom.
The wifi and USB transfer does not work. The wifi can be fixed with the fix for Android 10 : see here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/q-wifi-fix-for-north-american-variants.4012635/post-83473401.

[DISCONTINUED][ROM][9.0][SM-G930F] Lightheart OS [30/10/2020]

Lightheart 1.0 - The key to speed.
Hi everyone. My name is Skulldron and for those of you who do recognise me, know me as the creator of Project Pixel, another one of the greatest ways to emulate the Pixel Experience, whilst keeping all the benefits of using OneUI and its stock optimized drivers as its base. Today I'm going to introduce something, different. Over the years of working on Touchwiz based ROMs, I've learnt the description of every little apk, every little permission, what it accepts and what it rejects, its pros and its cons. As a result of this experience, I have one of the best debloat lists out there, with each item on the debloat list, being tested, through extensive testing, and it goes over every file and every partition known in the OneUI OS. This exact same debloat script was used in Project Pixel, which has received positive review after positive review for how efficient and how lightweight OneUI became after the debloat. Today however, I present to you Lightheart OS, a new project that I will be building myself and updating monthly. Today I showcase Lionheart, the Lineage OS to my Cyanogenmod.
Key Features:
1. Heavily Debloated System: The debloat script that was made by me, has over 250+ debloated permissions, apks and other files.
2. Better Battery Performance due to Efficiency - With the removal of an incredible amount of bloat, along with better performance and lesser services, you should be looking at better SOTs and better standby times.
3. Kernel Power Control: With MTweaks and Magisk, you will be able to control your device’s clock speed and be able to force higher GPU and CPU Clock, when doing more intensive tasks such as gaming.
4. Better Kernel Performance - Due to the deepness of the debloat, the kernel now has more RAM and more space to be more efficient and allow it to focus on less threads at once.
5. Latest available patch with the promise of updates every month - Every month an update is released, the ROM will be updated along with it, with a time frame of 1-2 weeks.
6. Restored some stock Google Permissions - Some stock google framework was restored, such as the default setup wizard.
7. All Essential Samsung Features have been kept - All essential OneUI features have been kept alive, for the sole purpose of necessity.
8. Completely Deknoxed -The ROM has been Deknoxed and FRP lock measures have been disabled
9. VoLTE Supported
Individual Features:
1. AdAway
2. Eleven Music
3. Files GO
4. GBoard
5. Android Pie AOSP Emojis
6. Lightheart X Boot Animation
7. AOSP System Sounds
8. Samsung Gallery (Stripped Down and lightened to improve performance)
9. Samsung's Stock Camera with HDR parameter changes, debloated and additional video modes
10. SystemUI Tuner (Provides battery stats along with other useful customizations - Check QS icons and add it to QS Panel to view)
11. YouTube Vanced (Ad-free Youtube)
12. Mtweaks (Has Hardware Control - Similar to Kernel Adiutor but more tailored to Exynos)
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: (Backup everything, contacts, photos etc.)
1. Download the zip and download the latest Magisk (ROM will not boot if Magisk is not flashed due to encryption procedures)
2. Wipe System, Data, Dalvik Cache and Cache
3. Flash the zip and flash Magisk.
Notes:
- To view Battery Stats and Storage, pull down the Quick Settings Panel and on the top right click the three bubbles button and then Button Order. Then move the new Battery and Storage icon to the Quick Settings.
- Set Trebuchet as default launcher, for better battery savings. OneUI Home was only included for its app switcher.

Yes it is running the base from a Note FE. In particular the SuperLegerra ROM
wow, ... and echo cancellation works perfect ... but two things that I miss so far
the option "kill app back button" in the settings -> developer options ... please don't forget to build-in
the possibility to mount the SD card in the file system
Both options are default in LOS ... and yes, I know it was an initial release.
Thx for your work. we are hopefully waiting for the improvements!

Info regarding phone stuck on boot pic
Hi there,
I have little experience with custom roms etc. I had installed LineageOS some moths ago as my phone was working poorly on stock rom and now with LOS 17.1 was starting to have problems again. Like an hour ago decided after some research to install this rom. However, after flasing the rom and magisk (I couldnt flash Gapps as error 20 appeared), my phone got completely stuck on boot picture (SAMSUNG GALAXY S7; POWERED BY ANDROID). I have both tried to get into twrp (previously installed) and download mode. No luck in any of the cases. I have tried to do the same from odin, to flash again twrp. However, as I cannot access download mode, I didnt work.
Now, I´m trying my best to figure out how to install some OS and continue from there, or at least be able to flash twrp and install another ROM.
I would much appreciate any advice in the matter.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: NEW SITUATION. No need of help anymore (by now)

Hello, the ROM works great. There are some minor things. Like always on display does not work with option to tap the screen to show for 10 seconds. Also for some reason I can't instal Revolut from the play store. And lastly Titanium backup does not restore all the apps. I could not figure out a way how to make that work.
The hotspot works fine on mine.
I had the same issue with Titanium backup.
In the end I used split screen and installed each app from the play store, then restored data only.

Youtube and Adaway can be removed with System App remover or Link2sd from Play Store. Then you restart the S7 and install Adaway from github and Vanced.app
I do like this rom, espicially the first boot right after install, which was really fast, made an impression. Probably the most battery friendly and lite-weight One UI-Rom one can find. One usability problem for me was the *missing feature that increased touch sensitivity*. With my screenprotector on, I have to push harder and several times before successfully pulling down the notification bar or when writing or selecting.
Is it just me or is SmartSwitch taking a long time/not restoring messages? I get to the part when it would start restoring messages but then it just never loads.. other then that, the ROM is great!

Thank you for the links, thread is now updated.
Quick question, with MCK, should I wipe everything before/after flashing and will it work with PE+ GSI?

You shouldn’t wipe anything when flashing the kernel. If the stock kernel works fine, I don’t see why mine shouldn’t
Everything is working perfectly, thanks for the guide. I installed the PixelExperience GSI but for some reason Fingerprint sensor is not working. The process is stuck on "Touch the sensor" and the sensor is not lighting up. Yes, I set the color of fingerprint sensor to White (and even tried all other colors).
I even have the following options checked
- Enable Extra Sensor
- Enable workaround for broken fingerprint sensor
- Enable workaround for white-ish screen
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I don't know what could be the issue, maybe try to google or try disabling and enabling the fingerprint lock again.
I have tried few GSI Roms. Here is my summary:
Android 13
- AOSP, Android 13, No image with GAPPs pre-installed and cannot seem to install it. Tried NikGAPPs, and LiteGAPPs, both didn't work
- Google GSI, Android 13, same issue
- Pixel Experience, Android 13, GAPPs pre-installed but Fingerprint sensor won't get detected.
Android 12
- AOSP, Android 12, GAPPs pre-installed, Fingerprint sensor detected (changing color to white). Will stick to it unless there is an issue detected.

Thanks for the feedback, have you tried any ROMs instead of GSIs?
You have links for them in this thread.

Nope, I tried to find a good custom rom for A52s but couldn't find any.

Thanks for your summary,
Is there any experience with MicroG on this device with AOSP 13?

Thanks for your summary,
I'm on AOSP 13 now, but perhabs it's better to go back to 12. I'm very interested in the AOSP with the GAPPs pre-installed. Could you share a link to the file?

I got the image from AOSP under the official Android 12/12L section. You can find release here. The exact image I got is the system-squeak-arm64-ab-vndklite-gapps-secure.img.xz one since the standard gapps one came with an app called "superuser" which I couldn't seem to uninstall (I tried the scripts to remove supersu). This caused my banking apps to not run. That is why I installed the "secure" one and then installed Magisk and added my banking apps to the defylist.

I think VoLTE was available as an option in one of the ROM I tested but I don't remember exactly. Currently AOSP 12 doesn't support it. Hotspot worked on every ROM just fine.

Hi Mian,
Thanks for your response. When I typed my question I realized that in the end I want to have and de-googled phone. So I changed my question in the direction of MicroG. I didn't expect you to be so quick with answering.

I haven't tried MicroG in any of the ROM. I just to have as little Google apps as possible but if you do find a good guide, let me know, I will try to use a de-googled phone.
Thx, all worked.

I've installed MicroG. But it seems AOSP doen't allaw support system spoofs signature. Play services (GmsCore) is installed but without the spoofed signature it can't do much I guess...
I have been using AOSP Android 12 for the past week or so. Most of the things just plain works but somethings don't. Here is the list of things that are not working so you can decide if the hassle of installing GSI is worth it or not.
- Proximity Sensor is worse than it was in OneUI. Yes, it is a virtual sensor but on OneUI, it worked better. Now, it is worse. More often than not, it turns on the screen during the call. It would have been better if it simply didn't work.
- The viewport of default camera App in the AOSP displays picture in 4:3 but the camera hardware is giving out 16:9, so the viewport was squeezed. After installing GCam everything is good.
- Fingerprint Sensor simply doesn't work in-app like those in banking apps. It works on the lock screen but nowhere else.
- USB Audio Devices don't work. I have a USB-C to A OTG where I used to insert my headphones. On OneUI they used to work but here they don't. Storage devices work.
- 120 Hz felt smoother on OneUI.
Hello everyone
I managed to install LineageOS with working GApps and camera using this guide, so a big thanks to everyone who worked on flashing this phone
If anyone wants to install it, you need to:
Chose a bgN package (I installed this one : https://sourceforge.net/projects/an...UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bgN-vndklite.img.xz/download). It includes the GApps. You won't be able to install GApps after installing a vanilla (bvS / bvN) package. For some reasons, the /system partition is too small.
For unlocking camera and install magisk, just flash this kernel : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-12-13-a528b-n-mesas-custom-kernel-r4.4490653/
I also installed magiskhide prop conf module, but I'm not sure it changed anything and the camera fix was probably already in the MCK. You can find it here anyway : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...safetynet-prop-edits-and-more-v6-1-2.3789228/
