Hi, so I'm trying to fix this Huawei Mate 20X (EVR-AL00) which was imported from China (I live in Europe btw), the phone itself never had a problem with reception until the EMUI 10 update, now the phone has no signal at all.
I have tried to reset the network settings, using other SIM cards, and even tried to rollback the update trought the HiSuite but the android 9 version which got installed is not the same as before since it doesn't have the Google Play Store and etc..
On the other side, I would like to unlock the bootloader to try to install the L29 global ROM but I don't know any website where to buy the code from, I tried to contact some through whats app but they don't respond...
i would really appreciate any kind of suggestion or help!
Thanks everyone.
Edit:
The Phone out of no where started getting cell signal, I didn't do nothing to the APN settings or anything, I just inserted the SIM card and it started working, but all of this only lasted about 2-3 hours before I've lost the cell signal at all and since then I haven't been able to get any cell signal. During the time it did work I took the SIM out and reinserted it and rebooted the phone a couple of times and it kept working until out of no where the signal was gone.
Not sure what your issue was that caused no signal when it was on 10, but on previous phone I had it lost it IMEI numbers after a rom flash and that caused no cell signal at all. As for not having google play store after going back to 9.x, all stock roms have google services, they're just hidden and you need to install the play store via Huawei App Store.
Finally there is no way to get a bootloader unlock code at this time, there was a few months in early 2019 that codes go leaked and sold, but that got locked down and hasn't been back since. Unless Huawei changes their minds about allowing root on their devices it's not gonna happen. I'm still on 9.1 (120), before 9.1 was officially released because they since changed to EROFS that makes having root pointless (was lucky to get a code) since the file system is read only. I've asked in several threads about having root on 10 with no answers. And most Devs have abandoned Huawei phones because of this and no more updates for custom roms unless you do it yourself.
From what I have read you'll need to manually update your APN

as mentioned above, u can try to delete your APN settings and manually re-add them. important thing is to research online with ur service provider of the sim card to check what u have to set in the APN profiles for the card to work properly.

The phone did work today as soon as I inserted the SIM card without configuring any APN related setting, but only for sometime (2-3 hours) and after that the signal was gone again.

I didn't mess with the APN settings at all, the phone started working out of no where, but did create an APN to match my service provider but still nothing (the APN that existed already had the same settings), check my Edit on the main post.

hi guys,
I have been a lurker for a while, didn't actually have anything meaningful to contribute (to create a new post/thread), i.e. until now!
Bought a galaxy nexus in April when Google started selling it on the Play store. I did not root it and/or modify it in anyway other than trying out a few apps I developed.
Given that background, 3G/HSPA data has not been working on the phone ever since I got and installed the Jelly Bean OTA update.
I thought I also had the Wifi issues that others are facing, but it turned out to be just a setting (Keep WiFi ON during sleep was set to NEVER by the JellyBean update, am pretty sure I didn't do it).
Do you guys have any clue as to what might be happening here? Any troubleshooting tips?
I am on the AT&T prepaid, data was fine until the JellyBean update. My friend with galaxy nexus also started having this problem post the OTA update, but he is AT&T post paid.
any insights???
thank you!
EDIT:
Also, I forgot to mention in my initial post ..
I get good signals and 3G or H also shows up next to the signal bars, but they are in grey.

I'm having this same problem to since upgrading to Jellybean... Have you called AT&T ? I'm furious as of now with them .I purchased a 50 dollar refill and they said it just doesn't work with a 4g phone and many different excuses was fine before updating.. I did notice it says Cingular in Apn now wich it didn't before..Have you found a solution yet..???

I didn't call AT&T because I know thats exactly how they are going to reply. If you didn't know it before, AT&T claims the $50 unlimited talk/text/web is unlimited web only for dumb phones but for smartphones you`ll need a separate data top-up. However, I have been using 3G with the same SIM card from November 2011. I had a Nokia N95 till April and then bought the galaxy nexus.....I didn't add the data top-up.
So at first when I started having this problem I thought AT&T finally started blocking 3G on the nexus, but later found out that my friend who is also on AT&T but on a post paid contract also has this same problem from the day he got JB OTA.
Unfortunately, I never went to Phone Information settings until after I got the JB update, so I do not know how it was before the OTA. .

Hello. I finally decided to root my galaxy s3 a few days ago. After I did so I downloaded some themes, ad block, etc. the normal stuff. The next day I started noticing something odd with the phone, such as very poor data connection (I can restart the phone and it will say I am on 4g for a minute or two although the connection doesn't say the same, but then it will either go to EDGE or give me no connection at all.) and poor network (says I have good bars but texts don't send often and take 10 minutes to receive; phone calls drop.}
I took the device to the AT&T store and got a new SIM card and that did nothing. 45 minutes of "support" did even less for me. I unrooted it, factory restored it, nothing.
I am desperate, if anyone would give me a workaround / fix, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not sure. Did you check your APN settings? Did you flash any ROMS, modems or kernels at all?

Thank you, now for the QCN..........I will be very happy when this is fixed lol.
So whenever I try to create a QCN I am unable to find it in the location I placed it, and I have hidden files visible. When I try to slide it to a different folder it says the file doesn't exist anymore. My phone has moved to "Unspecified" in devices and printers and I am unable to access any of its files even after trying to reinstall drivers multiple times (it gets stuck on the 5th one...network something...). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve the problem with not being able to access my phone?
Ok I figured out how to access my phone and I think installing a new modem fixed it.....we will wait a couple hours and see.

Regardless of your current carrier, you will get the update as long as you have WiFi internet. It will come from att servers, even if you don't have att service. It's all automatic. Just sit back and wait for a notification.

what If I am not in USA ? I heard some guys talking about using Kies but not sure if that's a way to do so. Cuz everytime I need to upgrade I had to download the rom and backup everything for me which is really pain in the ass with a corporate phone :/
If your phone is not modded, if it is not rooted, you will get the update via wifi, regardless of where you are in the world. The notification will come over the Internet regardless of your internet connectivity (could be other carrier's network), but you will need to download the update via wifi. This has nothing to do with carrier or location.

This is not the case. Carriers will only send an OTA update to a phone on their own network. It's been reported with previous updates that this phone (N910A) needs an AT&T sim card for the update to be picked up. It might be possible to update a phone via KIES without being on a network but not OTA; but I don't think KIES has been an option for recent updates on the Note4.
Interesting, all I can report is my own experience - I've received every update on my phone, I have had Straight Talk service then switched to Cricket service...
---------- Post added at 05:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
I saw this thread on Android Central about one or two users having this issue. But others did not have that issue. Many things could have happened. I've had phones that needed to be factory reset to get updates in the past, so maybe he was rooted - or maybe Knox was blocking it... The thread does mention that lots of people were having problem getting updates, even on ATT Sims, so... maybe something else was going on - maybe they disabled a service necessary to check for updates?
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4/592552-galaxy-note-4-5-1-1-att-7.html
I have two Note 4 phones and both received the 5.1.1 updates without any issue.
Not sure if you were aware, but both Staight Talk and Cricket use the AT&T network.

Hello. This is locked to Bell. It already got the 60% battery update a while back.
I will NOT be using this as a phone. It will be used for other purposes like outdoor remote wifi cam or something so I need the wifi working.
Is there any way to block the Wifi / Bluetooth killing update or root it and install a custom ROM ?
Again, I don't care that they blacklist the IMEI. It won't be used as a phone. Thx.

Its not an issue according to me because if they have to disable cellular etc then it will be in form of a stability update to trick people. Your phone will be affected only if the developer of the note 7 rom uses a new base firmware. Since you have a note 5, they cant even disable your imei number just because you use grace ux. I would prefer deleting samsung push service, Fota update service & KLMS agent apks from root (There can be something i am missing. If so please specify). Perhaps it may stop those messages

Now its fishing time. Sitting quietly, waiting to see what happens.

We are the ALLIANCE!!!!
I figured we should have a thread to discuss working on fixing mobile data on cdma E4's to keep the chatter out of the rom threads. @CodyF86 I'm able to get full signal bars and even get it to say sprint or boost for the carrier. I just can't get it to actually connect. I tried adding overlays for the radio access families: https://github.com/aaronmarch/andro...mmit/c9325b3a56426f4a49af8aa072b075549ab99546
I also changed up the init_moto.cpp like the init_surnia.cpp we have for surnia with only the boost info for now: https://github.com/aaronmarch/andro...mmit/ca313bab8097a971e88ecdcfd8495a0545d9d80e
No go. I've tried changing up the apns, completely different apns, the stock apns, mvno-slayer...
Any ideas? Do you think we can get it, or should we try to call in reinforcements?
https://test-it.us/apns-conf.xml
Here is the stock E4 apns-conf.xml file unfortunately these values must matched what is built into apps/common/res/apns.xml, so you'd have to include the apn file i linked to /etc/apns-conf.xml and make that match what you build lineage with or use sql editor.
I'm working on it as we speak tho. I did randomly have a 1x data connection earlier lol. Well get it; it should be simple. WIll keep you posted.
And for whatever reason being able to edit and save apns if you edit the mcc mnc and have them not disappear seems to have reverted. It was working for a month or so not to long ago.
apn carrier="Sprint"
mcc="311"
mnc="870"
type="default,supl,mms,fota,cbs,ia,wifi"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IPV4V6"
mmsc="http://mm.myboostmobile.com"
mmsproxy="oap7.sprintpcs.com"
mmsport="80"/>
Is the new boost /sprint LTE apn.
I added the wifi under type even tho boost blocks wifi calling atm via the phones imei or whatever, but sprint allows wifi calling can also change name of apn carrier to sprint, but seems like lineage roms call it sprint regardless and that doesn't really matter.

Yeah, me and CodyF86 and mainly Gabrielle M, who I was thinking about when I mentioned calling in reinforcements. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of getting the apns correct, so it's not as bad as falcon was back then.

Yes. I haven't able to get even the 1x but CodyF86 said he did.
Check out "SysLog"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog
This is a quick way to pull a log for people without quick access to a PC. Just tick modem bc it covers ril/sim connections
This isn't 100% perfect but it is a good place holder for sending info and it has a scrubber to clear off personal data. But it takes longer.

That's what I usually recommend and use when I want to get some logs away from my pc.

It's odd because I've gotten 3G to work without even touching a thing. 1 day I got no data and the next I'm suddenly connected. After flashing the test zip in the Aquarios thread, it stopped working. I reflashed the ROM in hopes it'll return but no luck so far
On the lineage ROM I get 3G when I reset network settings and enable and disable airplane mode for some reason. Not sure if any of you guys have experienced the same thing with that ROM. I will be tinkering with various things to see if anything comes from it.

For future reference, please don't talk about a rom other then the one the thread is for. In reference to your AquariOS comment in the Lineage thread. It's kinda rude and against the rules.

I am on the stock rom of the unlocked Amazon version. Phone is on the Sprint Free Service for a year plan so I figured I would tinker around with *#*#DATA#*#* because I was trying to figure out if CA was enabled because it's the Qcom Snapdragon version. I tried changing the LTE Band Priority. Band 41 is strong in my area and I have a Magic Box which amplifies it to be useable indoors. When I changed the Band Priority the LTE signal COMPLETELY dropped. If I switch settings to 3G or 1x I'll get signal bars. When I first turn on the phone it will connect to LTE for less than a second and then completely drop.
I'm guessing when I changed the band setting (I may have made 1 small change on the APN screen but can't remember) that it made an edit to the APN, which seems impossible to get to the regular APN screen like you easily can with GSM carriers.
I'm a newbie but I've searched everywhere trying to find a fix without rooting (since I just got the phone a month ago it would be easier to get a warranty replacement at this point). Ultimately what I'm saying is that it seems whatever the issue you are having with the custom mod must be similar to what I accidentally did to my phone. Maybe that will help narrow down what exactly is triggering your phone to not have data. :cyclops:
If this is a "duh, we knew that already" I apologize in advance! I browse tons of threads on here but have never posted so I was thinking maybe my mistake could help figure out someone else's issue

Ouch. Okay :/
Here is what I could muster for compare/contrast with a logcat @amarc78. hope it helps?
I wasn't home to add this note. But it was done with the same combo for the original alpha you sent me
SS:
One build I was using had mobile data problems and resetting the APN to default helped connect without manually putting in an APN maybe that might work for some.

Maybe the baseband being different can be the problem

I'm sure it is. This is all I could get out of a aosp-caf build.

I also believe it may have something to do with ##SCRTN# in stock, then flashing over. Because going from Lineage with 1x to stock makes my phone go 3G only until I use ##SCRTN# then it fixes the data properly to LTE
(This has happened everytime with Amarc's Alpha Lineage OS)
