Google app draining battery? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hey, my phone has been dying super fast over the past couple days and I have no idea why. I checked my battery usage and it suggests I disable the google app because of how much battery its taking. I am not using the google app any more than I did in the past. Anybody else notice this?

Google chrome battery drainage?

Did anyone notice a huge drop in battery after updating google chrome a few days ago. I literally went from 100% to 40% within 6 hours without touching the phone. I believe its Google chrome so I uninstalled it but I'm not sure. Anyone else have this issue?

You have a wakelock either way, use something like BetterBatteryStats just to check what it is. Chrome hasn't created any wakelocks for me. Actually in the past, I've noticed Chrome is a huge battery drain while using it, but the latest update seems to be a bit more conservative.
Well in battery stats, did Chrome come up as the culprit?
No but google services did and under that, it said that one of the google services were bookmark sync... I uninstalled chrome all together because I now use dolphin because I love the sonar feature... I'll see how it is tomorrow and will take it from there..

i'm not sure how to reproduce the problem, but google chrome is always the culprit behind my excessive battery drain
didn't use to happen... wonder what caused this..
I didnt notice battery drain. But the reason i uninstalled chrome was because that huge service runs non stop at like 80mb even when not in use and this phone has an aggressive ram problem as is without that exaserbating it.

[Q] Google Newstand eating battery life?

Is anyone else having an issue on this device specifically with Google newstand consuming a lot of battery life on stock 4.4.2? It's been idle for the most part and it shows up as having 47% power use going to this app and I have been running netflix off it and that and the screen only have consumed about 30% together.
The Google Play Services have been known to cause abnormal battery drain. Not much you can do besides flash a kernel/ROM.

Battery Drain

I was wondering why last 2 days maybe my phone's battery was just draining too quick.. I don't have dev edition regular retail and I ran Wakelock Detector and Google Maps turned out to be battery hog.. even samsung push service, even what's app which I never actually used so I will get rid of it.
Greenify without root can't hibernate maps. Is anyone having similar behavior? I did factory reset right after lolipop came out.
Anyone can suggest anything? love the phone but sometimes the battery drain is just making me mad lol
PS. on this screenshot I have not used maps I think within like 2 days, google now was turned off completely as well.

Sudden battery drains

Any idea why my watch suddenly updates so many apps at once that causes a huge battery drain? It's the second day it happened already. The watch runs fine through most of the day till somewhere in the evening, as shown in the battery stat picture, when the battery just comes crashing down. I've never had this issue before until yesterday and today has seen the same results. I require some assistance please.

You're not alone, friend!
We've been discussing this over at G+ too. Take a look and chime in if you'd like. Interesting screenshot you have there! My battery stats screen is not nearly so informative. It's a mysterious problem, but maybe you're on to something in regard to apps updating?

*edit: I see you're using Wear Battery Stats there - that explain the extra info (at first I thought it was the battery stats in the Wear app itself).

APP for Battery drain fix

:good: My v10 had been suffering from batter drain ever since i got my phone last year. I kept looking up information about other peoples problems and how mine differed from theirs. Aside from doing the basic phone setting tweaks, rooting, and greenify my battery life still suffered. I came across an app called Gservicefix from the play store and it increased my battery life by alot. Normally i would get around 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours SOT with my normal use like listening to music, youtube, facebook, intagram, (would be snapchat but cant seem to get it to work) browsing the web. Now i get 2 hours SOT with 30% battery used. I will post a picture if permitted with my battery life and SOT after more use. For those who are looking for something else to try because it can not hurt I say download the app and do what it tells you to do which is simple.
the app is called Gservicefix
it will ask that you have a full charge 100% and cord plugged in just FYI then follow the instructions and see if it works for you.

As quoted from the Play Store: "After using app. turn off gps and sync to save battery according to usage."
It will take couple of times to work depending on os version. Its a workaround for the battery drain bug caused by Services / OS / System. *Tested on limited devices only . Services are the background tasks on devices that keeps all of the company's services in sync and updated. This covers basic environment, among other services which results in heavy battery drain of your device."
So if you have to turn off gps and sync and turn them on when needed, then why do I need to install the app? Just turn on and off gps and sync and get the same results, no?
it is a work around for the battery drain. after using it i found out that if you remove the battery you would have to do the process all over which can be a hassle if your in a rush. The app did work for me but i since found a better solution that i will post in a the general forum.

What was your better solution?
Use Naptime, a greenify like app, but more suitable for V10.
