Video Recording Question - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
What app are you using to record videos? The stock camera app?
I just recently got the Redmi Note 8 Pro. I was using the Xiaomi Mix 2. One of the issues I had back then with the Mix 2 was video recording especially from the stock app so I downloaded Open Camera at that time. In the end, I stuck with recording videos at 1080p, 30fps. Videos range from 15 minute to 40 minute for sports. That's why I don't record at 4K because it breaks apart the video into 8 minute segments.
Last night, I recorded a video using the stock camera app at 1080p, 30fps... video seems average and more zoomed in? While I know the Open Camera app was more wide angle or something.
The camera by itself is impressive but not too sure about the video.
Any recommendations?

Open camera works good and you have many options.depends what you want.but most third apps have a problem recording videos on rn8pro.so maybe we need to be patient

[Q] 1080p/720p Video recording FPS?

I'm going to buy One X(or One XL) when it released at South Korea.
So I'm searching its specs & informations.
I heard there is frame drop issue when taking 1080p video recording.
First, it took 19fps, and after a firmware update, it takes 23fps at the moment.
Then what about 720p video recording?
Does 720p recording support 30fps perfectly? Or It has same issue?
Are there any news to fix this software problem from HTC?
My 1080p Videos has 19,36 FPS and the 720p has 23,1 FPS.
I use my One X with ARHD 5.1.1 & Bricket-Kernel, still got no OTA to 1.29 so ive got old Radio!
But there are 2 Cam-Mods out there which push the Mbit/s and the Framerates, but aware this are BETA's!

thx to reply.
So 720p recording also has FPS issue huh?
Don't know why HTC doesn't release patch to fix it.
I heard ONE-S(snapdragon 4th model) doesn't have any FPS issue at all LOL.
It's so weird that ONE-X got video recording problem... This one is way better flagship model
First of all, hardware wise the H1X can do [email protected] You can download Camera ICS from Play Store and see for yourself. However, the stock camera capped fps to 24. Thats really sux.

You mean third party camera app can take 1080p recording smoothly, right?
However, stock camera app doesn't support 30fps. So it seems camera application has problem. Am I right?
But Camera ICS app doesn't support Burst shot I guess... hmm.
Neither taking photos while recording.
Anyway, I don't have H1X lol.
First of all, to clear the misconception, I have done A LOT of testing on the video recording capabilities of the HOX. Firstly, ALL camera apps that I have tried have DROPPED frames when recording.
Dropped frames are the sudden jitter and lag during recording. Generally video is recorded at 30fps, but throughout recording and playback, the frames get dropped very often.
Dropped frames and low FPS are NOT the same. Low FPS seems to be constant, during low light it drops to 17fps or so, but well lit areas 30fps MAX. Just go record a short 30 second clip and you will see what I mean. Every few frames you can see the video stutter and then FPS picks back up. Very bad, and very irritating. There doesn't seem to be a fix to it yet.

Slow Motion (bad) Definition

Hi. I've tried the slow motion feature on my note 2 today and I realise that the 480p of stop motion dont have the quality and the definition of a normal 480p. I've seen another movies of other users loving the feature quality and I am a little bit disapointed. I'm I the only one?
I know that is a new feature and it's better than nothing, but...
I will post two videos to compare soon.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thats due to how slow motion recording works.
If you record a ×2 slow motion video for 1 min it will result in a 2 minute video.
In order to maintain the same fps as a normal video, the camera has to capture and process ×2 the frames in the same 1 min of recording.
To facilitate the increased workload, the camera captures lower resolution frames.
You will notice that x8 has lower resolution than x4 etc.

I also think that is because the interpolation algorithm (?) that is being used to create the extra frames. (I don't think the camera actually CAPTURES each frame). I'm still doing some tests to determine which would be the exact speed/frame counting on the camera.
Here is a video of my dog jumping. You can still see the blurriness in most of the shots.

How to record 4k video ?

On iPhone 5s, even it doesn't support 4k recording officially, we can record 4k video by installing an app called "Vizzywig 4K". It captures full 4K resolution photos (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 24 photos per second while capturing an audio soundtrack separately. Is there any app similar on android?
You need a camera that officially supports 4k before you can record in 4k. I highly doubt this app can 'magically' allow a camera to record in 4k, it is mostly placebo. The zenfone 2 can't record in 4k as it's camera only supports 1080p Max.
You can try open camera.

This app is proven to be work, just did a Google search. http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/17/hands-on-with-the-1000-vizzywig-4k-app/
Also this app work by taking 24 photos in one second, so is it possible for our ZF2 to do so?

I have tried it, it can only record 1080p even the option for recording 4k is enabled
Perhaps what I am looking for is an camera app that can take 24 "3840 x 2160" photo in one second and than combine these photos with a sound recording to form a video.
No. You can't do it. Even if it did work, it would be very shaky because you are not considering the lack of image stabilization. The ZenFone 2's shutter speed is just too slow to capture 24, much less 15, photos per second.

Best video recording application?

I noticed the video camera is a bit "bouncy" and does not stitch very well. What cameras apps on the play store will be better than the one plus 3 stock camera app?
Optical image stabilization is currently not working when shooting in 1080p. You'll get it if you record in 4k at the moment.
Other than that, Cinema Fv5 is a great app for recording, although stock is far easier to just pick up and use.

Excessive hand movement leads to ripples forming in the video recorded in 4K.
I wished it was fixed....
any idea how to get it to work? or we have to wait for an update from OP?
Having this issue in 720p and 1080p, in 4K seems to be better.

60 fps video possible?

So we've seen a couple of improvements to the camera since release, most notably with Portrait Mode recently. This is great, but where is the 60fps video? The phone must surely be capable of 1080p60 if it can do 4k at 30fps?
Neither the Razer camera app nor the modded Google Camera app I'm using allow me to select a different frame rate; does anyone know of an alternative app that can shoot higher FPS? I'd shoot 1080p60 all the time over 4k 30fps.

I'll subscribe to this thread, wondering the same thing. I have a feeling it would have to be updated by razer In firmware or some skilled coders here first. Seeing as we have treble, android P maybe? Should get released pretty quick for us!
I use snapdragoon camera that allow you to enable 60fps and 120 FPS video at 1080p

Nice! thank you for that suggestion. HSR mode doesn't work for me but I only wanted HFR so I'm ok
The hardware doesn't support 4K @ 60 FPS
where do i get the Snap Drag camera?
