I'd like to get one of these somehow to Europe and unlock it. Anybody happen to know where to get one shipped & how to unlock?

I am also interested in this phone, but it seemed no one really cared about it. A seller called welectronics posted an open box video in youtube, you are able to buy from them at a premium, but I would wait for cheaper ones to float around on ebay. The 4G bands of this phone do not work in Europe but 3G do, and there are websites that sell the unlock code for the network lock.
il like this phone too and waitin an offer (Ihave T-Mobile MyTou Q Huawei u8730)
it's really too bad no one seems to care about this phone.
I wanted to get one but also want to see if anyone here can come up with rooting and flashing instruction for this phone first.
I really want to get a Kitkat rom on this phone.
(FYI, I am still using the T-Mobile G2 I love so much.)
I found a site which sells this unlocked and ships to Europe: http://www.canadagsm.ca/products-LG-Optimus-F3Q-Penta-Band-LTE. 2G and 3G will work; 4G not.
But as there is no alternative ROM available and apparently no way to root, it's impossible to remap the keyboard. Which is a must, at least up here in the Nordics.
Brilliant looking phone. I'm sure the qwerty sliders will make a comeback someday, stupid people just haven't figured out yet that Apple screwed them when they introduced the on-screen keyboard.
But how to get root? Hopefully somebody with skills would also buy this and do Cyanogenmod for it.
Could this be real: http://442kitkat.senuke.info/mp3-0/lg-optimus-f3q-5998.html
If there is a rooting guide and KitKat rom for this phone, I am going to buy one right the way.

Looks real but doesn't seem to have a rooting S-Off guide.
And the download links to the rom are broken.

Also no way I'm downloading from an obscure site a ROM to my phone, without a community which can validate that it does not include anything nasty.
I am wondering if Motochopper or RootMaster can root this phone or not.
I expect that after some sales somebody will create a forum for this phone. It's on T-Mobile where people are used to qwerty's and in their portfolio it replaces the Samsung Galaxy Relay, which has an active forum here.
I am also very interested in this phone.
Problem seems to be getting it out of the grasps of the usual "America is #1 and we don't want to know about any of the rest of you" phone companies...
...Does anyone know if the LG Enact shares the same case design as the F3Q? They both look very similar.
Not sure about Europe, but some South East Asian countries welcome qwerty keyboard phone. What is LG thinking? Can't sell a phone without carrier backing?
The LG Enact has identical spec as the F3Q, BUT it is a CDMA phone for Verizon so it is almost impossible to use outside the US, unless you are using a CDMA carrier and is able to unlock and register the phone.

In this regard then it's not just LG, Motorola too.
Making the awasome Droid4 exclusively for Verizon in US and no GSM version for T-Mobile or AT&T.
I guess Motorola deserve what is happening to them now, guts taken out by Google and being sold to Lenovo as an empty shell.

I know it is CDMA but I was wondering if it was physically identical. I was wondering if you might be able to use accessories like cases made for the Enact on the F3Q, and maybe even change the ugly blue keyboard of the F3Q to the grey one of the Enact.

I really don't understand the design process over at LG.
If I buy the F3Q, the first thing I would do is that out that back shell cover and spray it will some black or pearl-white spray paint.

Actually it has a CDMA and LTE radio and has a SIM card slot. But nowhere else really uses the Band 13 LTE Verizon deploys, so can't really use it anywhere else. Maybe when Videotron starts setting up the C1 band in Canada then can use those phones here.
Contacted a few buying agents in the hope of importing one from the US, but they told me a monthly plan is required for purchasing this phone, so resales are not likely to circulate for the moment.
The ffollowing guide from k1mu worked on rooting my mobile f3q. Also I was able to buy the device out right from a mobile store in California for 339.99 plus tax for a total of 368.04 . This was with no monthly plan. Hope this helps anyone Else out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758

Brilliant. Now Cyanogenmod someone please and I'll get this as my second device, even though I already have a nicely working Samsung Galaxy Relay (with slide-out qwerty also).
Wow, rooted already. This phone is definitely promising.
...I wonder if there's enough of us outside USA that it might be worth getting someone reliable to do a group purchase for us?
I can just see it now, some random guy walking into a T-Mobile store and asking for 26 F3Qs, 18 cases, 6 USB chargers and 5 dust protectors.
Does anyone have Samsung pay working on there A70 in Canada? I am on the bell network and it keeps coming up that my device is not compatible in the galaxy store?
Same here
Same as I'm seeing as Samsung Pay, GPay and others won't work. I am on Freedom Mobile and Rogers (personal and work sims). I can't even install Samsung Pay, GPay installs but just does not work.
I did get RBC Wallet to work, so if your bank has their own app then that might be the method to get NFC payments working.

It's Ironic...
S-Pay is one of the reasons I purchased the A70..
SM-A705MN VERSIONS OUT OF LATIN AMERICA *DO HAVE THE CORRECT RADIO BANDS FOR 4G LTE IN THE UNITED STATES* 1,2,4,5,8,12,66..
BUT THIS VERSION *** WILL NOT*** WORK WITH SAMSUNG PAY
As it is "Out Of Region"... In The United States.. No Matter What You Do.
OP,
I thought I would just piggyback off your thread instead of starting a new one.... hope that's ok..
Sorry you are having the same trouble in Canada.. I am still in my "Honeymoon Period" and can return my unit.. I'm in the middle of assessing whether it's viable to keep my unit based on where I shop...
Samsung Pay works EVERYWHERE here in the U.S.. So I need to really assess whether Google Pay / Walmart Pay cover enough of the merchants I frequent the most or just move over to a Country Specific Galaxy device.. :fingers-crossed:
It's Almost 2020....
Tap-And-Go is the way to go for this era...
Safer... Faster... Better IMO..

Samsung pay was one of the factors to me for upgrading to the A70. I was thinking of flashing the Canadian software for the A705W via Odin but I am pretty sure that won't help.

Please Fill In Some Blanks For Me If You Don't Mind..
So.. you are in Canada, and they have a version of the A70 ( The A705W you mentioned ) that is native to that region and it comes with Samsung Pay already installed?
If that's the case.. may I ask, are you a transplant to that region? why did you not buy a SM-A705W from the start?
I may be *100% Wrong*.... but after my MANY conversations with Samsung Pay Tech Support they said there was no way around it.. that, there are enough Red Flags that a device knows its not in it's intended region and will not allow you to setup Samsung Pay in a different region than where the device was meant to be sold.
S-Pay would not even show up in the Playstore.. Google's or Samsung's for me. I sideloaded it.. older versions.. older framework.. Nada.... Nothing.
But I No Longer Care..
I went out today and tried Google Pay for the 1st time...
YES!!!! :highfive:
"EVERYPLACE " I shop.. Google Pay works! Even the Gas Pumps.. :good:
So that confirms for me that I'm keeping the A70... Now, Stereo Speakers are the only thing I feel is missing but Bluetooth earbuds and some 3.5mm stereo computer speakers in the garage really negate that final complaint.. So, I'm good with what the A70 brings to the table.. Battery and Screen are simply incredible for me.. Fingerprint Recognition is a non-issue on my unit.. as are Ghost Touches.. Face unlock is INSTANTANEOUS .
Final Question.. It's been so long since I've used Odin.. ( not since 2016 when I murdered my Note 4..) I can't remember... can you flash one software version over another without Root Access? if you can, then what you propose is most certainly worth a try.
But if you need Root Access to switch software versions.. you know you will trip Knox... and you will FOREVER loose the ability to use Samsung Pay..
I hope all works out for you!

Ok very valid points here. I did not buy the Canadian Variant as the A705W is $699 CND from the carriers here in Canada. I bought my 705MN unlocked from Amazon for $429 CND.
I have not used ODIN or rooted a phone since my S7 edge. I have yet to confirm if Samsung pay works on the Canadian variant or not. I asked a bell salesman and I got 2 different answers one yes and one no lol.
You are 100% correct that if Knox is tripped even flashing back to stock won't bring Samsung pay back (learned the hard way on my S7 edge).
I am loving the A70 as it is a nice upgrade in my opinion from my S7 edge. Only 3 down falls I have with the phone. Two are the same as you...No Samsung pay...no stereo speakers and no IP rating...other than that I love this device.
Excellent Price You Scored!

I'd Say You Saved A Couple Of Pennies vs Going For The "W" Variant..
Hopefully.. going *Price vs Satisfaction* does not leave you with any remorse.
Honestly.. I know nothing of Canada.. Is there no way Google Pay is a Go up that way?
That's the ONLY thing that swayed the tide as far as me keeping this device.
I don't care about root anymore and it appears between Samsung's Lock on SD SoC's and Developers skipping this device at it's price point..Custom anything may be a No-Go.
So, with the A70's features and Good Lock and (for me) Superb Battery Life.. Widevine L1 and not forgettting G-Pay :good: I'm a happy camper.
At Least.. Until Black Friday / Cyber Monday...

Samsung pay does work here in Canada on all samsung flasgships from S7 up. Unfortunately not on the A70 I guess. I am going to look into Gpay as I hate carrying both a wallet and cell phone all the time lol... phone prices here in Canada are just ridiculous. A new S10+ is $1499 ( from carriers). I am hoping to get a good solid year out of this phone then I may just bite the bullet and go for a Note 10 or Note 11 by that time.
It does now

I have a Canadian A70 and I use Samsung Pay. You have to sideload the app though. Get it from apkmirror, along with Samsung Pay Framework so it's all up to date.
While you're at it, get Samsung Internet Browser from there as well. I honestly don't know why Samsung region locks so many of their apps or doesn't update the ones that are already in the device.

Samsung is particularly picky in allowing which of its phones access to Samsung Pay. If your phone isn't intended to be sold in your region(eg you're in Canada but using a Latin American A705MN model), then you won't be able to use Samsung Pay. Only if you had the Canadian specific A705W model would you then be allowed access to Samsung Pay.
I know it's very weird and anti consumer decision but Samsung does this to make the local wireless providers happy.
btw; which model do you have and what's your home country?

Unlocked typically gets the update after all the carriers push out their update. It's the downside of buying the unlocked version.
I kinda don't understand this. How are these updates linked to carriers? I thought these updates are made available over the internet, so if I am on wifi internet, with no sim inside my phone, what any carrier has to do with this update? What am I missing here? These updates are not available on samsung servers?
I recently bought a Nokia 8110 4g phone. Tried to update its firmware with no success over wifi (KaiOS). As soon as I took out the SIM, it found the update and updated with no problem.
Why my Note 10+ would be linked to any carrier? I did not bought it through a carrier and it is not unlocked. It is bought from Singapore and it is SM-N975F/DS (Global) version, while I am being in Europe.
Can someone shed some light into this?
Samsung holds on the Unlocked firmware update until the carrier's start pushing. At least in the USA.
Yeah, but it is unclear to my what is "carrier pushing" and why it is needed. Over the internet, Samsung servers could do this w/o any form of carrier involvement or knowledge. Why "carrier" is in in this chain?!? It is like my Windows would be updated only when my internet service provider wants it.

Same thought. I stay here in Singapore & I bought it directly from Samsung, until now no OTA update. In Singapore, network providers never lock any smartphone, but 3 major networks here have different CSC (SIN/STH/MM1), mine was the non-network Singapore CSC which is XSP, still to no avail. I am forced to update via odin because of this.

This is because the carriers can customise the firmwares for their network. (add in extra apps; turn options on or off etc.) so therefore the carriers have to approve each and every new firmware that's developed by Samsung.
Samsung will do the actual "pushing" of the carrier-cusomised firmware, but only once the carrier gives them permission to do so.

That's highly unlikely to happen.
Carrier customisations are fundamental to how the industry is currently working
Can you give me a sample of this "carrier customization"? Fundamental to carriers or to us the customers?
It's most likely contractual.
So essentially, Samsung waits for the carriers to modify their firmware, release that first then release their UNCHANGED firmware/security patch to the unlocked devices...
That is such a crap model. Common sense would say to release what you can first... This would also push the carriers to release these updates in a much timelier manner as there is no benefit to be on carrier software if the patches are months behind the unlocked devices...

This has been the case since the Galaxy S2, if not earlier.
I suspect (but don't know) that Samsung have some form of contractual obligation to the networks to not release any new features etc. until the network devices (don't forget some networks may have paid a lot to Samsung to have an "exclusive" on the handset when it was released) have had a chance to get said feature.

Didn't even realize they had unlocked models going back that far. I has an S3 and a Note 2, but back then I was on Verizon so there was no thought of carrier unlocked models. It was a V model or nothing, LOL. My next Galaxy after those was an S7Edge, but they were all still carrier exclusive models. I had T-Mobile by them, so I had a G935T. They eventually came out with a G935U, I think, but I never had one.
It wasn't until the S8/+ they had the universal hardware for all carriers, and that's also when I really got back into the Samsung devices and started flashing U1 and U firmware. That was my first experience with unlocked vs carrier model updates. I didn't realize the update situation had been that way since nlthr S2, other than Samsung has always been slow with updates.
Yeah, I said earlier it was likely contractual. Like you I don't know that for sure, but that's the only thing I can think of.

because some carriers like to test the updates and ensure their services andbloatware are working before pushing an update.. last i checked tho sprint and tmobile use Samsung fota servers.. vzw of course just has to use their own servers.. att does as well..

as far as the rest of the world i have no idea lol
The 4g variant is supposed to have esim yet I do not see anything in the settings to allow adding a new service.. Any clue about esim functionality?
I do not believe the U.S. version of the Galaxy Fold supports dual-sim; it only has one sim and it uses a nano-sim. Have you called AT&T to find out if there is in fact eSim support?
It definitely has an esim, you can see it imei in about phone.
Edit* That said i don't know how to use it.

To activate it you would need to call your carrier and provide the eSim IMEI number to them. The phone may support eSim but AT&T itself might not. I'd like to know though if they do coz' that's the only reason why I haven't purchased that phone yet. Other specs I read mentions both eSim and Nano Sim and calls it "Dual Sim" but for some reason for the Folds Best Buy and AT&T only labels it as "Single Sim". Samsungs USA website does the same thing but their international sites identifies the phone as eSim and Nano sim capable.
I believe all Fold LTE versions has the same hardware and only difference are carrier supported features.

I know they don't plan on releasing the 5G version in the U.S. and only the LTE version but you are probably correct with your statement. The U.S. LTE version could be the same as the ones they are releasing across the world and supports dual sim but AT&T might not just support it. I guess will know for sure when someone calls AT&T's support and attempts to enable the eSim feature. I personally got mixed answers from reps at the stores as they are not too familiar with the Fold's feature yet. If it was a cheap phone I'd probably still try and take my chances but for a $2,000 phone I'd like to know for sure first that I can use the eSim and Nano sim on it and have two lines running before buying one.
We got our answer! Published just hours ago at PCMag: https://sea.pcmag.com/smartphones/34287/samsung-galaxy-fold
"The Samsung Galaxy Fold is available unlocked directly from Samsung Experience stores and some Best Buy locations, as well as locked to AT&T from some carrier stores. It works on all US networks and supports LTE bands 2/4/5/7/12/13/14/25/26/30/38/41/66/71. There's a nano SIM slot as well as an eSIM, though Samsung states the eSIM is only compatible with European carriers at this time"
There has to be a way to activate it, I wonder if we can find the info somewhere

Good luck with "messing up the firmware" of you expensive Fold...
Just accept e-SIM is not activated in the US!

It won't hurt nor will it mess up your phone to try. T-mobile supports eSim for both postpaid and prepaid customers, Verizon supports it for postpaid, and AT&T (I believe) supports it for both prepaid and postpaid too. But since AT&T carries the Fold there may be a chance that it won't work with them. All they need is the IMEI of the eSim chip anyway, and all you need to do is provide it to them. If their systems accepts it then good but if not then you simply just continue using your nano sim.

We got our answer! Published just hours ago at PCMag:

Looks like you didn't understand the thread or didn't read the PCMag article. The quote was accurate because it was referring to the U.S. version of the phone. You bought the U.K. version and that indeed is a dual-sim phone.
I actually personally verified that at a Best Buy store in the U.S. When I checked the network settings the eSim feature is grayed out. It is showing an IMEI but is grayed out and cannot be activate. I also got to touch the Singapore version which is a dual sim version like yours and that didn't have the eSim grayed out.

Still wrongnIt's being software blocked on the att variant if you Odin flash a different firmware it works and many ppl have it running like att on reg sim and TMobile on esim there's even a whole tutorial on how to do it which I posted in a thread I created. Also if the phones didn't have esim there wouldn't be a esim IMEI in the about phone . American carriers are just greedy money hungry leeches.

Well the article doesn't market to techies but normal people that would be buying the phone so it referred to the facts and facts are never wrong.
But I agree with you, the hardware is there and they are just greedy to not allow the eSim to be used. Where is that thread you said you created because I've been researching that method for quite sometime now and didn't find any? I don't even know a single person that has successfully flashed it and even went to Asian cellphone stores that does phone repairs and they couldn't flash the fold. I would love to read that thread if what you're saying is true.

LoL! Just what I thought. That thread you said that you started with full instructions on how to do it was started just yesterday after we asked for it. Furthermore, the link you said didn't show any flashing instructions, and worse, I couldn't find the "many people" you claimed have done it on that Reddit post. In fact, "many people" have claimed what I said that the AT&T versions/U.S. Fold versions does not support eSim functionality.
Bring the ego a little down low man, this forum is meant to help everyone and not disagree with people or claim that their posts are wrong specially if you cannot provide factual counterclaims.

I didn't say the many people were in that thread. The instructions I was referring to were the actually activating the esim once you have the options available. And I said off jump out the box att doesn't (although 2 ppl did say it was active out the box for them) but if you flash it should open it up. And I didn't time frame when I made the post. I did make it before I seen this thread. But in either way the time it was made is irrelevant. All I was saying was that I had made one.

Do you know if there is any change in the eSIM information for the F900U units in the US? Some conflicting information. Not sure, if flashing unlocked firmware enables it.
hello, anyone flashed the international firmware & got the e-SIM option rolling?
Hi guys,
I live in Europe(Croatia) where only the exynos version of Note 10+ is available. I am looking for a new phone and my wish number 1 is Note 10+, but the snapdragon variant.
If I decide to import it from somewhere, will it work here? I am even ready to risk and go without a warranty.
I was googling it, but find contradictory information. So I decided it is better if I open a new thread for it.
There are a lot of questions I want to ask
What version to import? Will I receive software updates? Will I have all network bands? What about regional unlock?
Thank you.
I think you won't have any problem provided you import the unlocked international version (if there is one where you want to import from).

Thx, but which one of these(SM-N975F (Europe); SM-N975F/DS (Global); SM-N975U (USA); SM-N975U1 (USA unlocked); SM-N975W (Canada); SM-N9750/DS (LATAM, Brazil, China); SM-N975N (South Korea)) is unlocked international version?
If you are referring to global SM-N975F/DS, it also has exynos: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note10+-9732.php#sm-n975f-ds
You'll find all Note 10+ available models here: https://www.phonemore.com/models/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/
Based on SAMMOBILE site, which has all firmwares for all Note 10+ models (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/#SM-N975U1), I understand that, in fact, any of the models can be locked to a certain cellular network or unlocked. So the unlocked version should be international also. The only thing that will make a difference between same Note 10+ model sold in different countries is the ability to record phone calls, which is restricted in some countries. Regarding firmware updates, there should not be any problem, you will only get the updates when they are officially released for the country you bought the phone from.

Really don't care about phone calls recording...I just want a functional phone.
Do you have any suggestions on where to buy it? EDIT: preferably from Europe
third party sellers are the only way you will get a snapdragon phone in europe, the entire european market is on Exynos, so you would either have to find a site willing to export to your country or a local seller who imports the phones. either way it won't be from a first party phone shop.
then if you do import you have to watch the sim unlocking rules, as the european phones need to use a european sim for a short period before unlocking to work for other countries, so buying from a reseller who has already done the network unlock meaning you will always be getting an opened box devices with no guarantee it's new and likely no warranty.
I bought a Snapdragon version N9750 on Ebay, from a seller in Europe. It's working great for me, I live in Sweden. Updates are working, but for example the 2.1 update that have rolled out to Exynos devices still haven't come to my device. But I'm not to stressed over updates anymore

How did you get rid of region lock? Or it came in the open box already unlocked?
I'm sorry, I do not have any suggestions. Belimawr said it all. I'm just not sure about what he said regarding the need to use a phone bought in Europe, for the first few days, with an european simcard, in order to have it unlocked. In the days of Note 4, I bought one in Germany (me living in Israel), during a trip, and use it without a simcard, for navigation only or at home on wifi. I never had a local simcard and I bought it (in a big shop) as international version. Never had problems with it, it was unlocked from the beginning. There are many risks you have to take when ordering online, from unknown sources. What's so bad with the Exynos? I have it and I'm very pleased with it.

Well, there are many resources on the internet that saying Exynos is inferior in lot of categories.
I don't care if it has slightly inferior CPU speed because it is enough for my needs. I also don't care it is much inferior in GPU speed because I don't play graphic intensive games. I can also live with a slightly inferior camera.
But what I do care is an inferior signal and battery life(bigger standby battery drain, bigger energy consumption for the same workload).
yeah that link posted above is what I Was talking about with unlocking, it isn't much to unlock the "unlocked" phones but it can be a problem if it comes to you brand new and still with the lock in place as you would then need to source a way of doing the time in calls with the sim from the intended region, it's why most imports come open box as they do the phone call before exporting it making the phone technically second hand and likely voiding any warranty directly from Samsung so you would be reliant on the person who sent you the phone. there is also stories about of firms like Samsung not doing repairs on devices outside of their intended regions so any fault would likely need a third party repairer as well.
I've been using the Exynos since it came out and honestly even under above average use I easy get a day out of the battery and as far as performance goes, it does everything I need it to. the big problem with the Exynos Vs SD argument is it goes by benchmarks on phones and chances are in the real world those difference will be that small people wont even notice them under general use. it's always been a problem with technology people look at benchmark numbers and in the real world they generally mean very little as they are done under lab conditions and not actual usage or with devices that have been used day in and day out, it is on clean devices fresh out of the box with little bulk, 12 month down the road the numbers could shift but in truth unless you sit the 2 side by side you are unlikely to actually notice the difference.
personally for me it's easier to just buy the local one as in day to day use you are gaining nothing by taking the extra steps to get one from a different region unless you are specifically going for something like dual sim that might not be in your region or if you are picking the device up cheaper.
Regarding the region lock, if this would be your case, looks like there is an other solution to unlock it, if using a local sim for 5 minutes isn't possible.
Take a look here: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-Note9/Regional-lock/td-p/650891
Or here: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...5G/Regional-Lock-Samsung-10-Note/td-p/1504884
Or here:
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...10-5G/European-SIM-card-only-S10/td-p/1296078
So, my point is that if you intend to buy your phone from an european country, then you shouldn't have any region lock problem. In my opinion, the only thing that could make me import a phone from an other country by online ordering would be a big difference in price. But also in this case I would think twice because we should not forget the customs taxes and the shipping fees.

Check on Wonda Mobile. They have a really good reputation and have the snapdragon version available. It looks like all the 5G versions are sold out but they have the non 5G versions at very good prices too.
I live in Russia and use the Hong Kong version and I still haven’t received a firmware update to 2.1, do you have any update information? Thank you in advance

I don't think Samsung has released it yet. I'm still waiting for mine as well, and don't see anything official yet:

Thx, seems they have very good trustpilot score. I might go for it.
Don't need 5G here atm anyway.
Samsung is slower with updating the Snapdragon versions, always a few weeks after the Exynos versions

The SD variant is better in terms of battery efficiency which makes another significant difference that affects the daily use of any owner if we ignore the better overall performance.

I easy get a full day out of it and can sit several hours straight gaming on the phone, the size of the battery unless you are being kept alive by looking at the screen it will get you through a day and I honestly doubt the difference is anything substantial enough to make a difference (you aren't getting 2 days without really light use)
