Hello there;
I have been using Hauwei P9+ for some years now and I just switched to Xiaomi Note 8 Pro.
After Unboxed the phone, there was new software updates. I leave it to update then used the phone.
I found many issues, but 2 of them really shocked me.
1- I use 2 SIMs, personal and work numbers. I used to receive calls on both numbers at the same time. I also could be using Data from 1 line and having call from the other line at the same time. Unfortunately in Xiaomi Note 8 Pro, then doesn't happen.
If I'm on a call on SIM 1 and someone called SIM2, the network gives "Unreachable" error to the caller.
Also if I'm using Data on SIM2 and received call on SIM1, data is blocked.
Please tell me that I'm having a problem (software, hardware, settings) and not that this feature isn't available in this phone !
2- I found that Xiaomi uses Google Apps for Dialer, Contacts and messaging. However how primitively these apps work and look, but I can live with that especially after reading some posts here that there are some solutions starting to appear or at the worst cases, I will use TrueCaller dialer. But I will appreciate help in that case as well.

So I broke my S4 the other day. Luckily i have a N7 LTE to use. So i took my sim out and placed it my N7. Im a kinda trying out the device as a daily driver to see how it works. Obviously its too big to carry but because its winter here it hides in my jacket well. After that, yeah cant really keep it on the waist or the pocket, that is part of the problem. I use a wired earpiece and mic atm to calls. I will probably get the wireless LG BT headset, alot of guys i work have it and they love it.
So far my experience is ok so far. I can call anyone through hangouts app and hangout apps dialer. I have SMS working. Obviously people who are not on google hangouts calling me is a bit of a issue for them. They have to usually txt me then i call them. Wait til my parents find out they cant call me, lol. Also my boss cant either lol, hes been texting or email me to call him when needed. Once of the features i miss from calling is the 'wait' function, 800-555-5555;(bridge code)#, now i have to enter all the codes manually and also remember them.
I am not sure of my options here, so I am throwing this out to the community. Do you guys use this device as a daily driver for phone call and such and if so how do you get people to call you? When i call people my ID does not show on their phone. I would like to keep my number if possible then give out a google number to everyone. 2nd option is to get a new phone. I did the cyber monday register deal for $140 off Moto 360 16gig code, which i did get. But not sure if im going to use it.
what do you guys think/solutions for me.
I'd buy a new phone
I'm at that point. After a few more days with it. I'm not that happy as a possible phone replacement. But it is at least usable.

I've used mine somewhat extensively as a main device. Disclaimer- for some reason, my Verizon sold N7 was not seen as such by T-Mobile. I've used it many times over a few months with my unlimited phone sim in it. It's finally, after a straight month of having my tablet sim in it, showing as a FIRST generation N7 on mytmobile. I haven't tried it with my phone sim in a while to see if that will be an issue now.
Pros-
-battery life's been great as a primary phone, 6 hours of screen time with LTE always on
-love the size (hate the lack of rugged cases, mine has some wear on it from carrying it around)
-xposed module, with 8sms, works great with whatever sim I have in it; I don't care what anyone says, regular sms's are still very useful
-tethering isn't seen as such (nor on my current phone, an Ascend Mate 2), just as regular data used
-T-Mobile visual voicemail sideloads just fine and works rather well as a "missed call notification" if the caller leaves a voice mail
Cons-
-no vibration
-making a call, whether thorough Hangouts or through Vonage attached to the phone sim's number, sucks; I have to talk right into the side mic and people still have a hard time hearing me; I don't have any Bluetooth headpieces to try with it
-no vibration
@Duffmantp I'm not sure if this would help you. But, I have a Google voice phone # which is delivered to Hangouts. So, anyone that has my GV # can call or sms me and I can do the other direction. Just a thought.

I have a google number. I just tried calling it from my wife's iPhone. And it didn't go through. Not sure if I have it setup correct. Also I can't send or receive MMS (via text) not hangouts.

There is a setting in hangouts to set GV # to come through, I believe. I don't really deal with mms but thought I remembered reading some updates to allow as long as you let hangouts take over for those. Wish I could help more.

I'm a China Mobile user with some trouble of getting my Moto 360 incoming calls displaying China Mobile's VPMN contact names correctly.
Background:
Moto 360 with original OS. Mobile phone is Oneplus One OxygenOS.
Mobile contact uses Google's Contacts. Mobile has activate Google Now, setting up VPS for bypassing the great firewall, with languages set to English.
All my colleagues uses China Mobile's VPMN short number, so incoming call has always been in 6 digits short number.
Problem:
When I get 6 digits short number call in. On the phone it shows up contact names correctly, but the watch always just show the 6 digits number. When I get call in from regular number (11 digits), both the phone and watch display contact name correctly.
I've tried reinstall the CM system, uninstall security software, upgrade my watch to be the latest version, switching language to Chinese. None fixes the problem.
It's kinda sad to see a good watch with problem like this because I basically lose the ability to see who is calling in.
Help is much appreciated.
Hello, can someone help me with this one...i had until now a rn5 pro with 2 sim cards inserted (private and business number). When incoming call arrives it says number and sim2logo on display and i know that call is coming on my business number inserted in sim2 tray. On note 8pro when someone calls me i can see just a number displayed, not sim1/sim2 information. Even my old note 3 pro had that info displayed (and5pro as stated above) but this one doesnt have it? It was important to me because if i see someone calls on my business number i can choose to not accept call if i dont want to, but now i cant see which sim card is receiving call. Anyone knows anything about it? Thanks
Hey. How about installing the Google Phone APK... That displays the SIM as far as i can remember...
It is no problem to install something....but every dual sim including xiaomi until now has that option so i was wondering did they forget it?

Yeah well who knows what's going through XIAOMI's mind these days.... The entire OS is a bunch of bad decisions in my opinion. I'm not at all surprised about what you said to be honest. Your best bet is to install a third party dialer. Try it and see.
Hi there
Wondering if someone could help me with this.
I recently purchased a Poco F3. Transferred all data from my Galaxy Note 9.
Everything has been going well other than this.
Certain contacts, when I call them result in an almost immediate "Call Ended" message (and that call ended tone sound).
It's as if the phone doesn't even initiate the call it happens so quick. The person I am calling doesn't get any call. No matter how many times I try calling the number, the same problem occurs. They can call me, I can never call them.
It's only happening with some numbers, others work fine?
I am unsure how to diagnose or fix this - I'm running MIUI Global 12.5.1 on SMARTY Network in the UK. I've naturally restarted the phone numerous times, tried airplane mode off and on, removed the SIM etc.
Not sure how many people out there got eSIM working with AT&T on their Fold 3. But 2 or so weeks ago I went into AT&T and got them to get eSIM working on my Fold 3. It's been working great till recently. I think it might have been with adding a 2nd line (Tello).
SIM1 = Tello
eSIM = AT&T
right now Tello works great. AT&T... I can get Text and data but I can't make any phone calls or receive any phone calls. Anyone else using the DUAL setup?? I went in to get a new eSIM and same thing. Can't make or receive call but I can text and receive text and get data.
I have removed the Tello Sim card for good measure. Rebooting a good dozen times and no matter what I can't get AT&T to dial out or get calls.
Any ideas??
Honestly sounds like the esim from att wasn't provisioned correctly. I'd try to get them to remove it from their system and readd it

i was warned about this scenario by an ATT Manager; he said that the physical sim had to be an ATT sim. i have an unlocked ATT Z Fold 3, however, i haven't tried using another carrier's sim/esim. I also have a network unlocked, ATT S22U with a T-Mobile eSim and an ATT physical sim. phone calls and text msgs work fine, as long as i use Samsung Messages (no the Google version). if i use Google's version of messages, group chats don't always work.
I have an unlocked fold 3 and use a Google Fi physical sim, and had a GSMA (AT&T) eSIM with Red Pocket. Both worked perfectly fine with no problems. Phone calls, texts and data were flawless on both networks.
Google Messages does have an issue it with dual sim. For example while connected to the mobile network if your preferred sim is set to the physical sim, but you try to send an mms with the number associated with the eSIM you will have to switch to the eSIM to send it. Chat messages are effected the same way. Text messages don't seem to be impacted that I have encountered. Receiving messages seems to be effected in the same manner. Google Messages works normally when connected to WiFi and using RCS Chat
Since we can only have one data connection active on one sim at the same time, Google Messages gets weird about it. The issue is not present with Samsung Messages or Textra. Until Google updates the Messages app to fix the issue you will have to either change the preferred sim back and forth, use RCS on WiFi only, use Samsung Messages or use another 3rd party messaging app that has dual sim properly working.
Also be aware changing the preferred sim will also make it the default for messaging and phone calls. For some reason we lack the setting to specify which sim for calling and messaging. So if your eSIM is the primary number you use and switch to the physical sim, all your calls/messages will come from the physical sim. Using the shortcuts i mention below won't fully resolve this either. You can use an app like multi sim selector to help with the calling, but the messages you will have to be aware of what number your messaging from (sim 1 or sim 2) or the above suggestions.
@OP - Might be worth getting a hold of AT&T and asking them to make sure the eSIM is provisioned correctly on your (and AT&T) end. If it was working and then not it sounds like an AT&T issue.
I'm not sure if this applies here, but I've read a few comments on the AT&T forums AT&T prepaid doesn't play well with eSIM. I can't verify that to be true or not since I don't have the prepaid service through AT&T.
Meanwhile make sure you have set the eSIM up properly in the sim card manager. At first my eSIM did not have the APN selected as active, I had to manaually mark it as such... Secondly does the call/text issue occur when the eSIM is set as the primary sim? If so go through and double check the sim card manager settings so you have DSDS enabled.
You might want to get an app like Quick Shortcut Maker and look for "Mobile Network".. There are a few sim manager settings that might help resolve some issues your having. I attached an image to help find the shortcuts.
