I got the Star Wars Limited Edition of Note 10+ because I love the design of that phone with the red buttons and the red S-Pen (stylus) although I've been a happy Note 8 user all along.
However I'm sad to find that some games which works perfectly fine on Note 8 fails to run in Note 10+.
Both phones are not rooted and are updated to latest official firmware.
The games that have issues on Note 10+ but working perfectly fine on Note 8
- Blackwell Legacy (crashes on start)
- Blackwell Unbound (crashes on start)
- Blackwell Convergence (crashes on start)
- Shivah (crashes on start)
- Gemini Rue (crashes on start)
- Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders (crashes mid-game during a chapter transition)
What's ironic is that these games also work perfectly on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2! Somehow legacy phones and tablets work better than this new powerful phone.
The first 5 games are from the same developer which no longer offers the app on Google Play so I appreciate no support but then the last one not working indicates something wrong with either Note 10+ software or hardware that causes it to crash and not any fault of the developers. The last app is available on Play Store.
Would any of you have any ideas what might be the cause of this so I could write to Samsung and hope they fix in the next update? Thanks!
It might be due to the coding of the games, it is not uncommon for old games not to run well or not at all on newer operating systems, that would be my guess...

Thanks, so you surmise it's a software issue? If so, perhaps fixable through an update? Note 8 also running on Android 9, same as Note 10+ so I'm sure it's not OS incompatibility.
Would rooting the phone help in cases like this? I feel stupid buying a pretty pricey phone only to have things working on an old phone and not the new one.
Just out of curiosity, I downloaded blackwell legacy on my son's note 8, and, it doesn't even start, tried it in my note10+ and it is just the same, so, I am sorry, maybe it relies on some check in the developer's site or something of the sort
Well, the following games crash on my Note 10+ Exynos on Android 10:
Assoluto (crash on startup)
Decense Zone 3 HD (does not load)
Naval Storm TD (random crashes)
Have not tried other games but in the few others I have in my phone work.
There must have been an issue with the games themselves.
My note10+ freezes when playing Marvel SuperWar, twice.
Had to hold the power button until it shuts down.
Actually a lot of games crash on my Note 10+ on Android 10. Anybody got a fix? Is it the fames not compatible with Android 10?

Haven't tried the others, but Most Wanted certainly works just fine. Had a hell of a time getting it to download (it all of a sudden did, after leaving it alone for a while).

Need for Speed works flawless on mine. Have not tried others.
I can get Nova Multiplayer to work fine, but not the single player. Quite annoying.
I can't get Heroes or Order and chaos or Wild Blood to work correctly. Wild Blood lacks lots of graphics and Heroes crashes on the tutorial without explanation. Anyone have some thoughts?
TomTom doesn't work, but that isn't a game. Some drawing apps don't work yet either (all from the Hello ColorPencil variety), but I'm sure they will be fixed and aren't games.
The Simpsons tapped out has so much lag that I can't play it with this tablet, yet there is no problem when I play the same game on the first note 10.1, I wish I knew what the issue is, maybe it's the 4.3 problem ?.??..

I found it to be very frustrating as well. Turning "power saver" off seems to have little effects as well. I'm thinking that there just isn't good support for the tablet as of yet, it's only two weeks old.

What version of the note are you using? Wifi or lte edition ( exynos or snapdragon)
Could everyone write up what version of the note you're having issues with, that way we might be able to find a patern. I.e what SoC is more stable, reliable.
Basing on similar Note 3 the Snapdragon 800 version has better app compatibility along with better performance.

This is so frustrating. I'm pretty annoyed that I purchased an expensive tablet, and it can't run popular apps/games due to it's processor. Are there any advantages to having the 600?

I'm assuming you meant the 800 snapdragon?
It's faster, a tad more stable ( as far as I've been able to gather ) and seems to have broader support within games/ apps / development.
In essence
Snapdragon better GPU
Exynos Better CPU

Sorry I meant the P600 which has the Exynos. I don't really see any benefit to having it. Sure it has "8" cores, but if it can't run things properly, why bother?
You guys are on drugs if you think the hardware isn't capable of running these games.
Just wait for the developers to update it won't be the end of the world.
-see most wanted and dead trigger 2 for reference, kthx.

I think it's more than capable. I'm worried about actual development more than anything. I think we'll see fewer roms/kernels, and less support for apps/games.
Yeah, we probably won't see roms or kernels thats true, i'm fine with that part as it defeats the purpose of this device.
As far as support from games it will be okay since these devices are selling fairly well (Note 10.1 & morso Note 3).
Asphalt 8 Runs like crap no high settings available
Hey guys,
Its strange to me that Dead Trigger 2, and Need 4 Speed Most Wanted look amazing and run flawless yet Asphalt 8 looks horrible, has terrible framrates, and does not allow you to enable graphics higher than low on this tablet. Hope the devs can update this game so I can enjoy.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I just got the 2014 edition yesterday and I'm finding this game almost unbearable. But here's the weird part, previously I had the original Note 10.1 and it played fine, just like you say. When I got the new one I wiped the old one to give it to my wife. Now the old one lags terribly too.
This is really frustrating, but at the same time gives me some hope. It ran fine on the old one until I did the factory reset. So that tells me there might be a setting somewhere that can fix this issue.
Of course, this thread is so old you guys might have already solved the issue. If so, please post how you fixed it.

Still an issue. I've tried a number of things - factory reset, CleamROM, standing on my head, starting a new game, etc. Can't get decent performance out of my favourite game! This sucks!
Maybe I should try to open a support ticket with Samsung - wonder if they'd even respond.

try ppsspp and play almost all your old psp games.so if it runs like a psp that's basically a portable gaming console...at least for me...even plays at higher resolutions....connect a joypad...but I try to keep gaming to a minimum...as in most lithium batteries, it will really push out the charge cycles and the battery is not replacable...still excellent bat life for me at least....
I think it's one of the best tablets on the market.

This! All Games i have are Smooth to play without laggs or something similar.
Games i tested:
GTA: San Andreas
GTA: Vice City
Ravensword2
NOVA 3
Order & Chaos
and a bunch of games like Final Fantasy (3 - 5), EKO online, Iruna Online, world of goo etc
All this Games are playable on the highest settings.
Its one of the higher spec tablets (if not the highest spec tablet in the "smaller" 7 to 8" form factor), so obviously its going to hold its own with games for some time to come.
Tablet is great, but the battery should be better.

I think you can unlock all apps/games in the app store (even those that are not compatible with your device) by installing xposed framework and the appropriate module using wanam xposed or xblast from the play store. Not 100% sure but worth a look unless someone else can shed some light or suggest something else.
I just got my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from Amazon and I'm already having issues with it
I play Simpsons Tapped Out and this game ran without any lag on my 2012 Nexus 7. However, when I load up the game on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, I am having major lag while trying to pan around the town and even while trying to tap the buildings to collect money. I imagine Tapped Out is an incredibly casual and lightweight game(resource wise), so it makes me worried about how 'real' games will perform on the device.
My question is, if I root and debloat the tablet, will this improve performance on the tablet? Or is this the kind of performance that I can expect from the Exynos tablets?
I found this thread, and I was going to follow those instructions to debloat it with titanium backup(I assume I can use that to debloat it). Has anyone tried this and noticed an increase in performance?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help
As a follow up. I just went through and rooted the tablet, froze all that bloat and it's still performing like garbage in Simpsons Tapped Out. How is this possible that the Exynos chip isn't as good as a 2 year old tablet? Is it the QHD display? Is it TouchWiz that's causing it?
Out of all the reviews I looked at, none talked about this type of lag. This Simpsons game can't be that graphic intensive. Why is it stuttering so badly when I pan around the town?

May just be that that game is confused by the Exynos 8 core cpu. The device clearly has the power to run a simple game like that. In short, I think it may be the game and not the tablet.
One other idea. Try running Nova Launcher. But other users have had the same issue as you with that particular game.

That is really sad to hear. I can't get Family Guy working properly on the tablet and now this Besides watching content when I'm in bed, this is all I use the tablet for. It's making it really hard to format my 2012 Nexus 7 so I can give it to my father.
I'm curious if it's the CPU or the GPU that the game is having an issue with. I have had my eye on this forum lately and am getting excited that the CyanogenMod ROM might be the solution to my issue with these casual games. Positive thoughts :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your input. I will say that it handles my 1080p content from my Drobo with BS Player flawlessly. So at least there's something

I installed Simpsons on my S 8.4, it seems to be running smooth for me. But I only started the game and my city is pretty basic at the moment, maybe performance issues start with a larger city ?

I wouldn't say I have a huge city, I'm only level 17. Nothing like my level 40 city in Family Guy. But I have a dozen or so characters unlocked in Simpsons. I can log out of my account and play as a guest I think to test on a starter city.
well, it wont' connect to the server now :/ but I will test it when I can
There have been reports of issues with this game on the other galaxy tablet forums as well. Since this tablet is fully capable of running even more complex games I would focus on the software as the issue. I'm not sure if these issues have been relayed to the developer but that would a great start to a resolution.

Back to the initial topic: Debloating can eliminate some of the background services that consume processing power. But it would surprise me if this would result in any relevant speedup (on an Octacore).
Other than that, probably the color adaption+enhancement thing does cost some performance (and battery).
And Mali T628 drivers might not be optimized.

i loaded a new game and it ran ok until I got about 3 or 4 people on the screen. i see different lag spots. one happens when it first loads people's animations. so even if i scroll away, when i come back it seems to load those animations again. another lag spot i see is when i try to tap on a building to activate the money or finish the person's task. when the money bounces out of the building, i see lag spikes here. they don't go completely away after i collect the money, but shortly after
the family guy from the amazon store plays fine and doesn't have this lag. i also read on some dedicated simpsons tapped out blogs that EA is aware of a lag issue. however, im not entirely sure if i am getting the same lag they are confirming. we will see though.

Out of morbid curiosity, have you tried my cm port?
I just picked up a Note 4 from AT&T. The phone is working great except for one issue that I'm having. I downloaded CS portable from the play store and the game crashes when I try to open it. I also tried downloading another FPS game called Special Force Net, and this game crashes upon opening as well.. I have a few other games on the phone that work, but the two mentioned will not. CS portable works fine on my 2013 Nexus 7. My girlfriend has an AT&T Note 4 also, and I tried downloading the same to games on her phone. They crashed there too.. Any ideas on what causing this, maybe these games don't support the newer 805 qualcom chip yet?

I've been having crashing issues with real racing 3 even on my note 2 and tablet. I think part is new chip, but other is lazy game devs favoring a certain device and not optimizing for android. I have a note 2, a note 4, and a note pro 12.2.
I've had a lot of games crash including magic the gathering

I wan't to be sure that it's not only me who is affected, I downloaded Dead Trigger 2 on Lollipop, and it's almost unplayable, whereas on KitKat it was running without any lag even on the High settings. Now it runs like on 10-15 fps, sometimes actually is enjoyable, but then drops down again. The same with Modern Combat 5. Downgrading the graphics from the settings is not a solution for me.
Can anybody check it if it's the same for them?

I just clean installed Lollipop with the stock rom google provided, so I will be testing gaming performance in a bit, anyone knows how to root the device without a mod kernel?
Lol I am only playing one game right now. Sad as it is to say this "Cars fast as lightning". Its hard to judge really as while the game is fun, Gameloft support has been slow. Originally it had stuttering and random lockups but when it was running smooth it was running smooth. After lollipop initially it didn't work at all. Then they updated it and for the most part it's fixed. Seemed a little laggier at first but now its fine. Still has the random stuttering but its always had that.
I don't think lollipop is crippling performance I think devs just aren't updating their games
Here is why I stay with KK and not with LP (even 5.1 with insane CPU and GPU OC) : even now at the time of this post, the following games that I play are unplayable on LP but smooth with no OC on KK : Minion Rush, Dead Trigger 2, Vainglory (closed beta), Oddworld, Spiderman Unlimited, Looney Tunes Dash, Deer Hunter 2014, Cars fast as lightning, Heroes Charge lags a bit but playable but still annoying fps drops, etc.
If you use your Nexus 7 2013 for checking the weather and watch youtube videos then go with Lollipop if you really want the latest fancy Android themed veraion.
If you use your Nexus 7 2013 for browsing the web and gaming, then stay with KitKat so you can use your tablet's full performance until the devs fix their apps or Google fixes Lollipop for our device (I don't care who has the fault in games working like I have a 2009 phone instead of a 2013 tablet).
I recently bought this Nexus 7 2013 (2Gb RAM / 32GB storage) with the idea that it would be a great tablet to play vainglory with.... I wanted a 7" tablet that had 2GB of RAM and at least 16GB for storage because I felt an 8" or larger tablet would just too big to play on. I was really disappointed with the performance on VG running on 5.1.1. Gutted really because I've already bought two other budget 8" tablets and they didn't work out very well. As good as this tablet still is, I'm really thinking about returning it and just getting a high-end 8" tablet or something.... I guess downgrading to Kit Kat is an option but I really don't like running an older OS.
