So i've had my GNex a while, and its a great phone and has served me well.
Recently, it has started acting a bit flakey regarding its battery. First thing i noticed was it seemed to drain much faster than usual. Then after some time i also noticed that it no longer registered as "full" after a night on charge. The battery meter would get to 89%, then just sit there.
Viewing the battery stats in the settings menu currently says "10 days 22h..." on battery, and the graph shows it going up to 89% each night, then falling during the day. In the past, and on the wifes nexus 4, this screen would show only the time since it was fully charged and unplugged.
I did some googling and found some odd, random posts, some suggesting a bad kernel on custom rom, some suggesting a bad battery. I'm running the stock rom, and its being doing this on both 4.2 and 4.3. After a while i decided the battery must just be worn out, so ordered up a nice new genuine samsung battery, and installed it....
Same problem continues. It gets to exactly 89% then stops charging...
Any ideas?

I've never heard of this before. I take it you've tried the obvious like changing the charger etc.
I wonder if perhaps somehow the charging circuit or usb connector is faulty. Have you also checked the battery connectors to make sure their clean.
If I was a betting man though I would go for some wear and tear or damage to the usb port.

theres quite a few posts about it, and in all cases it seems unresolved, and its almost never an issue with the charger or port. It charges perfectly fine from 0% right thru to 89% with no issue, then just stops.
More worryingly, some folk seem to report the issue getting worse as time goes on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794231&highlight=not+fully+charging
Whats very odd, is that in those threads theres a common trait: you can charge the battery in an external charger, or another phone so its full, then when fitted to the faulty phone it immediately displays the lower level that phone gets stuck at (89% in my case, but much lower in some other peoples). This suggests that the battery IS actually being fully charged, but for some reason the phones viewing "full" as some lower value.

From reading through some of that thread you posted I can only conclude that this is a hardware issue since it seems to affect several versions of Android and not all devices.
Have you tried opening a dialogue with Samsung?

this is what happened to me. verizon replaced it under warranty, no questions asked. the thread i made can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059289
edit: i should clarify that verizon replaced it under samsungs warranty. i did not have any extended warranty service through verizon.
Mine wouldn't charge past 98% but i just changed outlets and it started charging all the way up again. I guess my phone doesn't like my extension cord :/

It would just stall at 98-99% for a while

Even my GSM GNexus running stock 4.3 would stop as soon it reaches 98% and you need to like unplug-plug the USB to fully charge it and it
might get annoying, since to charge that 2% it might stop like 4-5 times intermittently and then get fully charged, its more like software update
issue not a hardware one as before getting on stock android I used custom ROM they had no issue while charging, even in 4.2.1 stock I had faced
similar situation.
adaptaive fast charging not working for me, there is a checkable option for it under battery settings, but its greyed out....wtf!! Phone is charging super slow atm.....I hope at&t didnt diable this for some stupid reason....
ok, nevermind. I guess it is working, Its just charging really slow, considering samsung claims its supposed to do 50% in 30 minutes, I think this thing has doe maybe more like 10% in 30 minutes, but idk more experimentaion will tell.

Mine chargers super fast idk
Super fast
you have to use the charger that came with the phone for fast charging.
I believe fast charging stops once the screen is on? (at least the popup seems to indicate that)
I am not sure why your option is greyed out, mine isn't and my phone fast charges just fine *shrugs*
My understanding is that the phone has to be powered off to get the 50% in 30 minutes.
You do have to use the charger that came with the phone.
It will charge faster with screen off, but the phone itself does not have to be powered off.
I went from 15%-75% in about 45 minutes.
That check box is unavailable when connected to the fast charger that came with the phone, mine charges about the same as my note 2 did really. It is fast but not new.
I really feel like samsung pulled a rebok with this phone and introduced a new "pump up shoe" lol when the other one was just fine.
Samsung note 3 - wifi issues, random drops in LTE camera lag
Samsung note 4- great everything above^^ but got rid of the dock audio cant win.
breacherman I know what you're talking about, same here! Sometimes I see the notification that fast charging is active and that was only twice, both times my phone charged super fast. But sometimes I don't get that notification and it's charging slow, I'm trying to figure out why this is happening, if I figure it out I'll let you know. And yes this is with using the charger that came with the phone
There has to be a reason that it only works sometimes..

I think it stays on, it's just not as fast. Mine charged to 50% in probably 35 minutes while I had the screen on the whole time, so it's still pretty damn fast!
Fast charge option is greyed out when it's plugged in. When it's unplugged you can switch the option.

Mine also charged 50% in 45 minutes. That is fast enough for me, but I know it isn't the 30 minutes that Samsung says it will do. I used the charge block that came with the phone, but a different cable. So maybe it was the cable's fault that it didn't charge 50% in 30 minutes. IDK. I do know you must use the charging block that came with the phone to achieve the fast charging because it puts out more voltage/ milliamps than other chargers.
Adaptive fast Charging just stopped working..
The same problem just occurred. AT&T just had an updated and once I updated the AC adaptive charging wont work anymore. Before It was 30 minutes to 50% and now its 2hoursish to 50%.. I think it could be a update issue. But everything was normal until the update. If anyone knows any way to fix it please let me know. The option of the fast charging is greyed out and I cant click it. Before the update it was fine. I will go to at&t later to see about this issue.
Make sure your USB is plugged it firmly on both ends, I've had it charge the normal way a few times when I didn't have it in all the way.

My phone has consistently charged super fast, and every time its said "adaptive fast charging". But as of two days ago my phone takes forever to charge, and I'm surely using the same charger. I checked, and the fast charge setting is checked. Anyone have this problem too with a way to fix it?

Looks like this.
Do you have the fast charging option still checked in options under battery? Phone needs to be unplugged to make a selection.
Edit:Sorry I just reread your post.
Are you sure it's the same base piece on the charger. It says fast charging on it? Maybe turn off fast charging, restart the phone, and turn it back on.

Will it connect to a computer? Does it charge painfully slow? it could be a motherboard malfunction that zapped your usb port. You can do a warranty exchange.
Did you upgrade to lollipop?
People who have are seeing an issue with quick charge not working, including me.
The fast charge button becomes greyed out when I plug in the phone.
Before lollipop I would get a message that the phone was quick charging when i plugged it in.
Now I don't and it takes much longer to charge.
Same here ..Fast Charging Not working

Same here,..Fast Charging Not working after lollipop upgrade
I have fast charge working now but it's intermittent.
No, I'm not on Lollipop. The issue fixed itself. I can only guess it had something to do with a charger/external battery I used right before the issue arose. (Zero lemon solar powered battery). It charged my phone stupid slow and then all my chargers were like that for a couple of days. And yes, the fast charging checkmark was checked.
Hey guys,
first of - sorry if this is oftopic.
I notice heavy charging issues on my g4 intl. The phone just won't charge probably.
I'm running on the latest cyanogenmod nightly, everything else works fine.
Cyanogen says "slow charging" even when I plug in the original cable, or a quick charge wallplug. With all micro USB cables everything is fine for a week or two, but after that everything repeats again.
It seems like the phone cuts down the input power to 300 milli amps or so, while "charging" the battery percentage is going down sometimes, too.
When the phone is off and plugged in, the charging is slow too.
But sometimes everything is fine for a charge or two.
Does anyone have the same issue or have a solution?
Greetings from germany
Okay I found some guys talking about this here, but is there any final solution for this?

It happens to me too, stock ROM, cm13, aosp, no difference.
I have tried changing USB cable (only cable) and device begin charging normally again.
I don't think it's something software related..
But if you have already tried with another charger and problem is still there..
I'm really frustrated. I don't know what is happening to my g4, since 2 month's I noticed heavy red screen ghosting, too. The phone was already repaired once from lg, there the problem was that it won't boot up anymore.. Next time I won't buy lg..

I got problems with display too..
Both lateral sides are brighter than the rest of the screen.
Especially with dark images it is absolutely horrible.
Will never ever buy LG anymore.
same problem here with the ghosting and the super slow charge some times battery goes down even while plugged to original charger, had a G2 before this, love the phone was almost flawless, this one I had it for almost a year now, piece of **** full of problems, now after the lates OTA the unlocking is retardedly slow, I double tap for unlocking the screen wakes up but dimmed and unresponsive and after a second it fully wakes up, I'm so frustrated with this piece of ****, the only good thing is the camera. Btw regarding the slow charging problem, I tried with different batteries and chargers and same results (I'm fully stock, no root no nothing)

Are you using the fast charger?
I just noticed that I have the same issue. I used to leave my phone to charge at night but today I left it to charge for 1h and a half and yet it wasn't full (only 90%). Now that's a major problem.
