Hi, since it got a bit quiet concerning security updates I tried some Q ROMs instead of OOS. All seem to have the new swipe from the side back gesture which imho is a catastrophy compared to the old. Especially when using a protective case. Will there be Q ROMs which will have the old gestures, maybe the option to choose between the two? Or is it technically impossible? I read in the 7t forums that there are some not so perfect workarounds. Was thinking about switching to a 7T this year but the new gestures are a deal breaker for me right now.
Depends on ur Custom ROM. Usually u can choose navigation gesture in Settings > System > Gestures > System navigation. Anyway i think there is no available OOS gestures port for Android 10 yet. Only classic AOSP gestures and normal navbar.

Face unlock,
iPhone X style gesture navigation
and off screen gestures
I know most of these are one plus proprietary but I was looking for a way to get a rom with these inbuilt or using a xposed mod or flashing a zip.
Thank you in advanced.
I'd love it if you could make this ROM. I'd definitely use it
So actually. There is an app called swipe navigation. It is perfect because you can set up your own gestures to make it match like the iphone x or the OOS beta. As far as screen gestures, Liquid Remix linked here has the off screen gestures. Then use the swype navigation and turn off the stock navbar in the settings and you'd have a full-screen with iphone x experience. check it out.
Also, you can flash theOne5TOS, the beta version which has iphone like navigation when you turn the navigation bar off, and since it is stock, it includes all the screen-off gestures that oneplus offers.
Happy Hunting!

Additionally xposed edge contains advanced gesture swipes. I forever got rid of hideous nav bar using jOnePlus tools. http://imgur.com/72hwhvA
As Matteosaeed stated, swipe gestures should do exactly what you want. I have been using them for a couple of years, hiding the Navigation buttons, and they work extremely well. Also, I believe if you flash Nano Gapps, you will get the face unlock ability. I have it along with swipe gestures on CodeName Phoenix. I have attached a screen shot of the available swipe options for the app.
Lol are you serious almost every custom rom on every oneplus device had always had screen of gestures and actually better than oos since there are gesture options to use and you can basically add anything to them and basically all roms for the 5t right now have face studio unlock toggle which will auto dismiss the lock screen after face unlocking all you need to do is install a gapps package that had face unlock I suggest aroma gapps since you can choose exactly what gets installed and what doesn't. Also I would suggest aicp.
All the following are in the OnePlus open beta 3.
Android has had gesture navigation since 2015, possibly earlier, on custom ROMs by way of Fling.
Granted, both the iOS and Android P variants are likely more mature in some ways, but I'm curious to see some conversation about Fling versus Android P gestures versus iOS gestures
Fling gestures it's super personisable, I configured the look and feel of fling like Android's P gesture navbar.
I prefer to have the screen space, so I'm using OnePlus Gestures Navigation to achieve gesture navigation.
Before this, I used Xposed Edge.

I read this article that popped up in my news feed a few weeks ago regarding this very topic. The author is, imho, biased towards iOS but it does cover the various differences between the two operating systems & their gesture-based navigation.
I did use gestures during the entire duration of my DP2 experience. It was, for the most part, fine & for a preview version of the OS and more than likely unfinished code it worked very well. The only reason I had to revert back to O was that bluetooth didn't work in my car & that is annoying to me having to hold my phone like an animal.
I'm very much in favor of gestures. Of any kind. But if Google wants to use gestures...they need to also save the screen space and hide the navigation bar when not being used. To me, that's the other big side of using gestures...more on screen space.
I trieyof Miui Roms
Is there Any Custom Rom With Full-Screen Gestures
Because I Loved Them Most..
I want to know too.
Hey there, I'm using Edge Gestures . It's definately worth it [1,59€] I'm on RR and really missed Xiaomis FS Gestures. So I found this app. It's not exactly the same experience, but 90% reliable. I think, since it's not ported from MIUI, edge gestures is fine enough. I've set up pretty the same functionality but its coming without that UI that you know from MIUI ("drops from the sides" or that "pushing actual screen into the middel" to get recent menu). I'm satisfied with that.
There are nevertheless some few bugs. F.ex. in youtube or netflix i cannot use sometimes the gestures, so i have to minimize it with the inside app actions.
Edge gestures is present in LOS extended and RR(I haven't tested all roms so I'm not sure if other roms support it too

yeah, but you cant customize it. With the official app you can set up things like exact position, like thickness, offset, seperate hold timeout, swipe treshold, other swipe actions... and the implemented one in RR seems to be a little bit buggy (for me)
AEX has full screen gestures too, and they work really well
I boot Android P semiGsi (PR1) in my Whyred Global 4/64, mostly for try the new Gestures, so i have some thoughts.
First, the objetive for introduce Gestures in UX is enjoy all screen interface, so, I think that the "common" of the people think that the nav bar it has to gone.
Second, the transition/animation for each gestures has to be in context of the finger movement, for reach a efficient interaction,
I notice that the animations from recent apps it change, and now the apps are into "cards" structure, but, the way it how the pill interact with the cards its interesant, in vertical way.
Now, for now, who want to use gestures in Aosp base roms (stock, no heavy pers), has to use apps that imitate the butons from nav bar, but if in Android P can imitate the interaction between the pill and the cards for recent apps gestures, i think it gonna work.
bro, my advice is to use a problem english. I do not understand you. most of them if not all...
screenshoot please
and whats the issue again ? and what is actually proposed ?
i kinda lost reading it.
Where can I activate the gestures ? Didnt find it in the newest rom ....
I am on the OnePlus 8 Pro with OOS 11. Two apps you need.
SetEdit and FNG (or any other gestures app you want)
Steps:
Go to settings and turn on "Navigation Gestures"
Open SetEdit and find "op_gesture_button_side_enabled" and set that to "0" instead of "1"
Open up FNG and set it up with all the permissions that are needed
Disable "bottom edge" in FNG and only use "left edge" and "right edge" since there is conflict when "bottom edge" is used
Set them up the way you want, and now you can use hamburger menus again!
This should work for any OnePlus, and any version since this tutorial is from the OnePlus 5 and 5t
You can disable the activation of Google assistant by going into Settings > apps and notifications > see all apps > Google > disable
Can't believe no one gave you a thumbs up for this.
Nice one.
Very nice guide.
Now I can use LMT Launcher with Stock OOS Android11.
Great guide! Kudos
Is there a way to get this to work on AOSP roms?

I never used the gestures from prior versions. What is the difference between the standard android 10-11 gestures and the one you describe?

The old OnePlus gestures were a simple two button operation, from the middle of the bottom, it was either home or multi task. And the side of the bottom was back. Now the new ones change position when you flip your screen, so when watching a YouTube video, you have to swipe up twice from the bottom. The old ones you just had to swipe towards the camera from the charging port. The new gestures also have a really ****ty back button, the entire edges of the screen are back buttons now, which means no hamburger menus will work anymore. I am very frustrated by this change, so i hacked up a little solution.

I never used custom roms before, I have no idea if this works or not.
