I have a problem with the sound notification from one app. Basically I turned on all permissions, auto start, all the stuff I could find on youtube still I don't receive sound and vibration notification from the app. It is a simple app where you get notified with two beeps sound 15 minutes before set time and I have floating notification and visual when the phone is in my hand, but when it is locked it doesn't notify me, it is shown on lock screen but doesn't awake the mobile phone and doesn't reproduce sound notification. Hope someone can help me, thank you in advance. Also on the dropdown menu and lock screen some facebook notifications are cut in half, are those MIUI system problems, or should I consider returning the phone because of some kind of error of this particular phone.

I had a similar issue with notifications and I fixed it by enabling "notification access" to "xiaomi service framework" in system settings. If that doesn't work, I'd try factory resetting.

I don't think it will work, but my question is how to add exceptions to the security and cleaner I assume that is a problem?

Whenever I get any notification e.g. from youtube, email etc..
an audio notification sound would play
The problem is, it keeps on playing and will not stop, even after I have opened that app or dismissed that app from the lockscreen
Also how can I disable notification sound for all these type of apps?
I can't find an option in the settings.

I am getting the same thing. Have had LineageOS 15.1 on my Tab S2 for a while now with no problems. Then, for no reason I understand, it has started doing this. When a notification triggers, the sound repeats 2-3 times per second .
I have mainly noticed this in the Naviator app when it notifies 'TFR Database Updated'. This doesn't seem to be an actual system notification; instead, it is a pop-up in the app but plays (it's own?) notification sound. After the pop-up disappears, the notification continues indefinitely. I thought the issue was isolated to that app. However I had it also happen with a system notification (though I can't remember which) where, after dismissing the notification, the sound continued to repeat for another 10-15 seconds.
Any help would be appreciated. I will try wiping the dalvik and system cache to see if that helps.
Hey all, my ring doorbell app wakes the screen anytime I get an alert. I want to keep the notifications on but don't want the screen to wake. It wakes even in my pocket which I want to of course avoid. It may just be a bug in the app but I should be able to limit that from happening. Or so I hope anyway.
I have tried the following.
1. Switched all notifications pertaining to the app and individual cameras to "sound only"
2. In the app I have disabled "alerts open full screen video"
3. I have disabled heads up notifications globally through ADB.
4. Disabled ambient display.
5. Disabled notifications on lock screen.
I'm at a loss on what to do next. Any ideas are appreciated at this point.
TIA

I've struggled with the same thing for months. It never used to do it, but after an update earlier this year it became the new normal for me.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully somebody chimes in with some sort of work around.
I'm having the same problem with a Sony XZ1 phone (Android 8.0.0). I spoke with Ring at length and it's 'apparently' a problem with my phone, not their App.
I think that's a load of rubbish and something they need to address and fix. I installed the App on another Android phone running an earlier version of software, the App installs with different options and doesn't wake up the screen. So it's obviously dependent on the OS version but as other Apps don't have the same problem I can only conclude that it's an issue with the Ring App.
Has anyone tried uninstalling the app and then install an older version from APK mirror? Not even sure its on there but it's worth a go

That's a great idea. There are plenty of versions to try on APK mirror, one or two per month from 2018. Not a good sign for a reliable and stable app.
I'll give it a go later unless anyone gets there first and can suggest a 'good' version to try
Were you able to find an older version that doesn't have the screen wake behavior?
edit: Pixel 2 - going back to 2.0.66.8 still has the screen wake behavior regardless of notification setting.
edit 2: 2.0.57.2 does the same thing...
Looks like the latest ring version finally let's you fix this. Select your devices, go to notification settings, then select sound only. The default is sound plus pop up. I no longer have the issue after making the change.
Can anyone confirm if turning off the 'plus pop' in the ring app settings works? I have a new pixel 3 on Android pie and the app is still turning on the screen at every alert event with settings set to just sound or just silent.
I'm having the same issue with the ring app. It wakes the screen. Really sucks when phone is in my pocket. I have tried every option and or combo of options. I have a pixel 3a on Android 10. Android 10 does have a option to wake screen for notifications found under display advanced, lock screen. But it is turned off
Still a problem on Android 10, No combinations of settings has been able to stop this for me. Of course Ring denies this even though I have sent a logcat to them.
Hi there
Sometimes when I receive an email the notification will not show up on the phone, that is no sound and no led notification.
However as soon as I press the power button or unlock the screen the notification will pop up.
It is almost as if the device goes to sleep state when screen is turned off.
The emails that I miss at times due to this problem are time sensitive and really important for my work.
Such delays are at times resulting in direct monetary loss.
This was never an issue on my Galaxy Note 3 from which I have upgraded.
Can anyone of you guide and assist me as to which settings need to be changed to get it to work properly.
Many thanks for your time.
I have a simmilar issue here. Some notifications show up normally, like mail and facebook, but other apps only show notifications if i have they are opened.
It's like the system is forcing close those apps.

Still haven't found any solution.
Things I have tried :
1. Going to Power Master > Battery Mode > Balance
Thinking that in other modes it would kill background apps to save power.
2. Went to Power Master > Autostart Manager > Added apps I need notifications to start on system startup.
Apart from the mentioned problem, I see another one.
I opened What's app notification setting and turned Group Notifications off and Message notifications are set to show silently and minimize.
However the app itself changes the setting and forces messages on screen by itself over riding my changes. Have been happening since a long time now no matter how many times I change the settings.
Update if you can find any resolution.
Hello i'm new to this forum and new to Samsung, so this is a question that i have that i have to ask because i can't seem to find a solution. I don't know if its a bug or not.
So when i bought the phone i set it up to fit me with various settings and changes, however one setting that can't be changed (or it changes itself back to default) is the notification settings for a specific app.
I use telegram and i get a notification from time to time. So i decided to mute the sound and to turn off the vibration from the notifications menu in the phone for that specific app. But the problem is that the settings stays like this for only 20 minutes and then it resets itself to default i tried to change it again and again and it keeps resting. I tried it changing it even in the app itself, but again i keep getting a sound and vibration notification.
What i'm doing wrong? Am i doing anything wrong at all? Or is it that the phone is buggy?
Try modifying "Sound and Notifications" inside Telegram instead of phone notification settings

hey gang,
I just got a Pixel 2XL and for Gmail and WhatsApp even though I've got vibration off in the system settings as well as in the app, the damn thing still vibrates when a notification comes in.
This happens on both mine and my brothers 2XL, are we missing a trick?
I've tried to reset app settings but issue persists.
2XL
android 10 - build QQ1A.191205.008 - fresh install
Thanks!
Also happening here... I have spent many hours but haven't found a solution
So the way I found around this is to turn off vibration under Accessibility > Vibration and haptic strength.
Not ideal but it works and the phone will still vibrate if a call comes in.

Did you try switching off the vibration from WhatsApp settings -> Notifications -> Vibrate?
Oops, I see that you have already tried that. Never mind!

Hey guys, finally I've come to a solution after hours of searching and experimenting.
For your information I'm using a Pixel 2 XL running stock Android 10 December build (latest).
I narrowed down the problem by making notification tests with apps other than WhatsApp, like Telegram and Messages (from Google).
The problem:
When setting WhatsApp's notification preference to "Silent" (in Android's App info) - having WhatsApp own settings to no vibration neither sound - the very next message received will turn "Silent" option back to "Alerting". This will make phone vibrate (if phone on vibration mode), regardless of your preference of no vibration.
Note that this problem occurs only when phone is on vibration mode.
It happens with WhatsApp and Telegram but doesn't with Messages, making it clear that it's a bug of the app and not of Android itself.
The solution:
1) Adjust WhatsApp's own settings as your wish (if your reading this probably you don't want group message vibration neither sound).
2) Open Android's App Info and tap Notifications
3) Select group or message notifications
4) KEEP IT ALERTING
5) Choose Advanced
6) Tap Sound, then My Sounds
7) Choose None
8) Save
That's it.
It seems to me that faulty apps like WhatsApp and Telegram are currently not able to set None value to the notification sound. And, since Android turns sound to vibration when on vibrate mode, those apps will vibrate regardless of user setting.
The procedure described above will ultimately set None sound directly to Android system, shortcutting the apps poor programming.
Thanks for reading this and please give feedback whether it helped you.
