I've enabled full screen gestures and I'm using Google keyboard with swipe.
Afkomst every time I start with the letter p, I'm using the back feature. Quite annoying.
Anyone experiencing the same and has a possible solution?

Xposed + Gravity Box + Enable Pie Control, then just configure the trigger edges the way you like.
Works so much better than the gesture control.

What version of miui
Sent from my Mi MIX 2 using Tapatalk
I recommend Edge gestures from the play store.

I've had some bad experiences with Xposed lately, phone froze for over a minute after receiving a call. I think Xposed and GB are a bit overkill for this. But thanks anyway for your suggestion.

Look into LMT launcher then.
Unlike it's name it actually isn't a launcher but a very minimalistic open implementation of Pie controls.
It requires root to function properly but at least no Xposed is involved.

I might try that. But the choice is between either on screen buttons or gestures in Miui. How do I disable gestures in Miui without having the buttons?

Thing is that I don't want the on screen buttons and I do want MIUI full screen gestures. I guess that's not possible, in MIUI it's one or the other. I'll have to live with that or use another launcher. Minor issue, since the phone is working excellent!
Yeah for that your only options at the moment are either to run the unofficial RR build with Arasthel's gestures baked in or Xposed plus Xposed Edge module.
The next best thing you could go for other than that would be XDA's gestures application, but that one simulates the gestures as found on the iPhone / OnePlus devices, so they work a bit differently (the back gesture works differently).
You can edit your buildprop to tell your phone you have hardware keys. It will then remove the navbar for you. You can then use edge gestures, Swipe navigation etc.

Easy if your are using magisk.
1.- Disable gestures.
2.- Install "Hide navigation bar" magisk module.
Best regards.
Or disable them via a adb setprop command without requiring root, etc.

Where i can find the RR rom with miui gestures
Andy Yan's thread. It's a collection of roms he compiles.
Make gboard smaller by entering one hand mode, then relocate keyboard in the middle. I use this with Huawei Mate 10 Pro and it's the only way I can still use the full screen gestures and enjoy the experience.
Don't know if everyone has this issue, but I've installed Nova and every time I rebooted my first home action went to the pixel launcher instead of Nova. After each reboot I was having to launch Nova, go into settings and set it as the default launcher again to make it work right. Freezing the pixel launcher disables the recent apps.
Doing some digging I found something that solved this for me. It has something to do with the broadcast receivers the pixel launcher is requesting.
I used SD maid to disable all of the pixel launchers broadcast receivers and it works great.
Hope this helps someone save some time as it wasn't straightforward to search for.
Never had this issue and I've been using nova since day one. And gestures work perfectly
Doesn't Nova break QuickSwitch recents though?
I've not had issues using the native gestures together with Nova Launcher. QuickSwitch works too. What I did was set the default launcher as Nova Launcher from the Pixel Settings app, doing it from Nova Launcher settings doesn't seem to make it stick for some reason.

I went to the receiver manager, clicked the three dots in the upper right, checked other and they showed up.
I also found that if I wait a bit after the home screen comes up before using it it doesn't have the weird launcher behavior. So it might have been a matter of waiting long enough for initialization too.

If your using Nova with root, you likely didn't wait long enough. Had the same issue as you here and there. If I waited a minute, was fine :good:

You too bruh! I don't hide root from Nova. I use it for the lockscreen swipe up gesture, and other accessibility features

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea my friend. I don't like gesture navigation whatsoever. I'm a 3 button fan. Sorry I couldn't help
@Badger50 Oh I see, that's unfortunate! I guess I'll just give it a try and see what happens. Thanks anyway.

I used to use FNG on Oreo but I moved to Vivid NG on Pie. It works better for me.
I might keep on using it on my Pixel 4 XL but I want to give the stock gestures a chance. Only if I can use them with Nova though.

I'm using the ones introduced in OneUI v1 on the S9. "Full Screen Gestures", "Gesture Hints" is off.
I don't use the new Android 10 ones, because I use Nova Launcher, and there's an issue with the new gestures when using a 3rd party launcher (Every Android 10 device. This isn't a Samsung Issue.
Im using fluid navigation gestures, all but the bottom gestures work great. But i have setup FNG so that i really only need side gestures anyway.

I looove Android 10 gestures but the lack of support on 3rd party launcher is awful so I use Samsung's gestures with hint off. Hopefully Android 10 gestures will support 3rd party launcher soon
I'm still on Pie, using Samsung's gestures. The main reason I left the beta was the lack of support for Nova launcher. Any word from the folks who have the stable version? Have they fixed the launcher issue yet?
I am using nova with full screen gestures. To enable use adb - adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural

If i do that is it somehow possible yo use a gesture to open the notification bar from any app? Not only in Nova.

Full screen gestures(sides for back version) work fine with oneplus 7 pro on Android 10 w/ nova launcher, so far only Samsung disables them if using a third party launcher.

Android 10 nav gestures on 3rd party launchers?!? It that's correct, this is the best news of the days
The back gesture with swipe on either side of the screen is super annoying. In apps like discord or Amazon or any app with the option to swipe from left side to open menu bar is pointless now.
You have to press the menu bar icon in the top left corner now. They should give us an option for which side of the screen can be used for back gesture

Nova was straight up blaming Google. The December security patch notes state the full screen gestures now work with 3rd party launchers.
My guess is either One Plus fixed it themselves, or they included whatever fix Google did for the Pixels.

yes but I think you cannot access the recent apps
I know I am probably late to the party, but in developer option, there is an enabled freeform feature.
Then in the recent app drawer, tap the icon and select freeform...
This is a tip in case you didn't know. This is multitasking at a new level.
That's been around for a VERY LONG TIME.
But not very good on a phone because of the screen size and method of interaction. Its better on big screen devices with a mouse.

Try to picture the idea behind it. The objective here was to use Android as a replacement for a traditional desktop/laptop and thus follows that kind of pattern, and they were on the verge of replacing chromeos with it. Its very unfortunate that they didn't go through with it.

Well this is new to me.
Hi All. I've got a pixel 3xl (A12 and Nova Launcher 7) that split screen is working fine. My problem is that I can't get it to work on my Pixel 6 Pro A13 stable and Nova Launcher 7. I open recents and long press the icon above the app and choose split screen, then I swipe right to pick another app and it just goes to home screen or it pops up pixel launcher has stopped. Any ideas? I've tried doing split screen with chrome/gmail/titanium backup/file managers.
Update. If I use pixel launcher as default home it works, I tried freezing Pixel Launcher in TB and then Chose Nova as home and I am unable to bring up recents. I defrosted the Pixel Launcher and I can now access recents (Nova) but still cannot get split screen to work. I'm stumped. I don't want to use Pixel Launcher as home because it doesn't compare to Nova customizations. Thoughts?
I just tested this on my Pixel 6 Pro using Nova Launcher Prime v7, using the exact same methods you described (recents, long press icon, et cetera). It worked fine for me. Try rebooting?
Edit: I'm on Nova v7.0.57 - the most recent v7 release (I'm not updating to v8 if I can help it).

I'm running AOSP Mods v2.0.1 Full Stable as well. I just tested again - no problems here. You probably have, but have you experimented with some other apps? Most recently, I tried Reddit at the top and GMail at the bottom.
Tried Hwy Radar and firefox when I long tap on the icon in recents and select split screen, the app I selected first doesn't move up to the top of the screen. When I tap on another app it just goes to home screen and a toast pops up stating the pixel launcher keeps stopped. I've tried clearing cache and data in the pixel launcher, rebooted again. Nope!
