I have a friend visiting Korea next month, and I was wondering if anyone is from there that have purchased the Galaxy Nexus. I would assume given that it's Samsung, they would sell their flagship Nexus phone there, too, correct?
I know it's a world phone with pentaband, so regardless of where it comes from, it should still run on Tmobile's network and 3G data, even if it's one from Korea, correct?
My other concern is whether the phone will offer an English (USA) option. Does anyone know?
And in general, are there other reasons/concerns I should consider before I have a friend purchase it from Korea to bring back to the US for me? I'm hoping this will be a cheaper method... possibly?
Probably need a connection to get one in korea. No official release in korea that is known. On the other hand, if you have a samsung connection you should go for thenexus gold and try to get a 32gb galaxy nexus gsm version.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
Its not for sale anywhere but the UK right now.
To answer your other question, yes, it will work on T-mobile US just fine.
Thanks for the replies. Interesting that it's not sold yet even in Samsung's home country...
Well, if my friend misses the release, it's not a biggie.
Would anyone know about the language? The device will have an option to have it all in English, correct? Or any other concerns, like whether I will be use apps from the US, etc?

selling phones has nothing to do with where the manufactures headquarters is located. And to answer your question about English being an option, pretty much all Android ROMS offer English as an option for the main language
The problem might be getting to the english option though.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
The Galaxy Nexus in Korea actually went on sale 11/28 along with the LTE Galaxy Note. The English option should not be a problem since on stock android you have the option of setting your default language from Korean to English or vice versa. The only problem is that by default it would come with Korean and you need to navigate to the Language/Text Input options. I can help you with that if you'd like.
Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Do you happen to know how much the Galaxy Nexus is going for in Korea? I would only ask my friend to bring me back one if the price was significantly cheaper than say importing it through expansy or handtec.
Also, if and when the time comes, I may take you up on your offer of help for navigating the menus to switch to English. =D

T-mobile US uses 1700/2100 (AWS) for 3G. The Galaxy Nexus is pentaband and works on pretty much any GSM network in the world.
Perfect, thanks. I'll see if i can find them. Hoping for under $700 UDS

Yes, please share the price.
I am living in Seoul and have been using my GSM Galaxy Nexus for a few days (shipped from UK). It works fine.
I wouldn't recommend buying a Korean Galaxy Nexus though because:
a) I am not sure there are GSM models available for sale here
b) A Korean GSM model (if available) may not work outside Korea for things like SMS and MMS
c) Bloody expensive here. It's a captive market so the koreans get screwed.
It is best to buy an unlocked Galaxy Nexus from abroad and bring it here. Even then, it's a right pain to get a simcard. I know, I've been through it.

The SK Telecom WCDMA uses 2100MGHz.
Not to be off topic but has your friend considered a Galaxy S II HD?

I'm curious, too. Except for the vanilla android experience, I would seriously consider the Galaxy S II HD LTE in Korea.

Can you tell us how much it is in Korea?
Hi
First time posting, so please excuse if any mistake *peace* :fingers-crossed:
I have a friend going to Seoul, Korea next week, after reading many posts here, I wanna buy an LG Optimus G from there and bring back to my place. But I also hear from many that LG phones in Korea have many various versions, i.e some can only be used in Korea, even restricted to a certain telecom provider
Is that true? And how do we buy the international version of Optimus G from Korea which can be used world wide?
Cheers:angel:
Wrong section... F180S/L/K are the korean versions with antenna on the left upper part. E975 is international.

Tourists are forbidden to buy a phone in South Korea because you need the ARC number for purchase.
So your option is only second-hand or stolen one.

LG Phones in Korea are usually in L/S/K stand for LG U+, SKT, Olleh. For LG G it is F180L/F180S or F180K.
But dont worry about it, if you can ask your friend to buy one, after unlock bootloader, it became to E975 ( i mean there is no different ). So, you can up any rom of LG E975 for F180x.
Stolen phone can be lock by telecom provider, so, becarefull.
Even if you are using stock F180* ROM, and it is rooted, bootloader unlocked, installed custom recovery. You can flash any E975 Custom/Stock-Custom ROMs without hassle. Just keep in mind that if you bought or someone bought a phone for you from another country, it would be locked in you country(region locked?). And it should be unlocked, so you can use the SIM cards from your country. This is the way it works in my country.
FM Radio
Hello. Just wanna ask regarding the FM Radio how do I enable it? I have a korean version but the FM doesn't work.
F180X do not have FM radio, there are DVB-TV module
---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:05 PM ----------
F180S - best choice, must be unlocked.
F180K - no SD, locked for KT, GSM
F180L - locked for LGE-U+, if I not wrong EVDO (CDMA).

I want to buy a Galaxy S9. Since there are some complains about the exynos version (battery life, performance, especially 3d performance in games) i want to get the Snapdragon version. Custom Roms etc. doens't matter for me. Is it possible to just order the Galaxy S9 g9600 Hong Kong Version and use it normaly here in germany? Does the region even matter?
>>UPDATE<<
tl;dr: Yes you can!
I'm also interested in getting an answer from somebody who has experienced with this.
After Googling around, I think you will have no problem using the phone. The only problem is that the ROM is full of bloat targeted to the Asian audience. What people do normally is they flash the Brazilian version, which uses the same hardware, and should be a very clean rom. I would feel more confident if somebody came and confirmed who I read around.
I bought the S9 online from Hong Kong (SM-G9600/DS) to use in Australia and it works well with full 4g (LTE) bands. I would assume that it would also work fine with European bands as well. I have not had any issues with the phone at all.
The only potential issue is that you wont be able to use VoLTE outside of Hong Kong. Personally this doesn't bother me.
I'd recommend importing the SM-G9600 form overseas.

I can confirm after buying a SM-G9600 online from Hong Kong, it has NO Asian Bloatware and overall a fairly clean rom. Most pre-installed apps are actually useful (such as Facebook or Twitter). The only difference that I have noticed over 4 weeks of having this phone is that in the shopping option of bixby vison (where you point the camera at an object and it comes up with a product you can buy) it shows Hong Kong results. And also the advertising in samsung pay is in Chinese.
None of this a problem that affects overall usability and is very minor. I would definitely recommend buying the SM-G9600 from Hong Kong.
Would it make sense to flash the Brazil ZTO ROM or is the Hong Kong ROM just fine?
Hows the battery life on the HK version? HK has the snapdragon variant i assume it has good battery?
Could Hk version S9/S9+ be root now? Does anyone know how to root Hk version S9/S9+?
Good day. I am thinking in getting a Snapdragon version (American or HK), and would love to know if it works in Europe too.
It seems that the battery life of the phone with Exynos is far worse
If this is the case and the phone is locked to Asia region, is there any way to unlock the phone without an Asia SIM card? Or do I have to send it back?
EDIT: The phone got shipped today and should arrive the end of this week or next week. I will make an update if the Galaxy S9 Dual Sim from Hong Kong is region locked or not
Update: The Galaxy S9 arrived today and everything works perfectly. I had no region sticker on the box and my german simcard works just fine. The only bloatware, that is preinstalled are some microsoft apps (word, excel, powerpoint, onedrive). Overall i am very happy that everything is working flawlessly.

Does the Hong Kong version support VoLTE or wifi calling? I bought a G9600/DS with the Latin America CSC (has OWO in the version number as opposed to TGY in the HK version) and it does not support either feature. Can you let us know please. I'm thinking of flashing with the TGY CSC if it supports VoLTE and Wifi calling.

I am also very curious about VoLTE in other countries. Let us know.

---------- Post added at 09:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:39 PM ----------
voLTE will only work in Hong Kong. If you root and use a custom ROM the CSC Code can be modified. This is only possible if your device's bootloader is unlocked. As the CSC Code is Region or Carrier Specific you'll need to match your new code to the location and/or carrier.

Both versions will get updates and work as if they identical. The only difference you will see is performance and battery. In which snapdragon outperforms on note 10. Both support same LTE band, so yes Virgin 4g should work.

Actually, it kind of depends on which Snapdragon model you are getting.
N975U/U1/W have pretty much every band under the sun, but are single-SIM.
N9750 is missing a few bands compared to the above, but apparently covers everything in use in the UK. It is dual-SIM.

I think the last October patch came a few days ago, where the Exynos model got it a few weeks back. So no! They have their own update policy not mirroring the Exynos dates.
I got it from eBay. Do a quick search. The device was shipped from a "Swiss" Wearhouse - based on the seller. The good part was no import taxes. Ordered Tuesday, got it one week later!

I have the Note 10+ N9750 (4G dual sim), but I really want the 5G. Unfortunately the ones available in the market are the single sim version which was really strange that Samsung decided not to release 5G dual sim except for the Chinese market.

I've been told that it doesn't have Google mobile services on it.
Anyone had the chance to install Google on it and confirm that it works normally with it with no issues?

When I try to press on *#0011# and choose the sim it shows 5G:Suspend.
I'm trying to get over this hopefully the new update will fix this.
I am in Saudi Arabia not in China and not Chinese.
English is working normally in the mobile except some Chinese applications does'nt matter for me.
I messaged the guy in the 4gltemall few months ago and he told me the same but i bought it from elsewhere and its working like a charm except the 5G issue.
Hope i answered you well.

OMG
The 5G is not working?
I have a note 10+ 4G snapdragon and working flawless without issues and I'm ditching it simply because it doesn't have 5G and the one we have here is the single sim.
I'm in Kuwait by the way, so it will have the same problem.
Do you think it's a band issue or is it settings issue?
Is the VoLTE working?
I want to buy this one in particular because it has 5G and dual sim.
I tried the mate 30 pro 5G but I hated the sound quality and the missing of the volume buttons and the lower screen resolution.

I can't confirm if its band issue or settings,
I will confirm it the moment we get the latest firmware Android 10 in few days coz i'm assuming its firmware bug or issue.
I'll update you later on.
Thanks,
Hi,
As per my knowledge, you need to activate minimum package to get 5G services from Zain KSA (Need to activate shabab 199 package or more to get 5G services) or STC (Please check with their website)
I believe it should work 5G after activate above plan.
Please let us know, you are able to get 5G services or not.

Good day,
what about Samsung Pay app. ?
thanks
I have Note 10× 5G SM-N9760, and I have note one issue with SAMSUNG PASS, it has completely refused to work.
It keeps crashing and the message "samsung pass is temporarily unavailable" keeps popping up. I've tried downloading and installing several updates from online but the problem persists. Is there anyone facing the same kind of problem?

Hi,
It is useless for the 5G to work outside of China.
I've messaged the support many times and they told me that there is no plans to activate the roaming 5G and if I need 5G i should go to the telecommunication company and ask them to sign a contract with chinese telecommunication company???
They are hopeless......
