someone could copy and paste their apn text in this thread that has Jellybread rom running on their EVO 4g on cricket or metropcs. I dont get how internet could work but not mms. Ive tried all sorts of apns from all sorts of cricket phones and this is the ONLY thing stopping this from being the absolute best mod ive found! so fast and stable!

I have a metro/cricket apn.xml somewhere on my laptop at home, as soon as I get there, I'll post it to pastebin for you.

Not sure if it works at all, but I had it on my sdcard so it must have worked at one point

Thank you so much! To make things even more confusing when I was using cyanogenmod 10 rom mms was working perfectly, however I found the rom to be buggy, VERY SLOW and all around confusing. So I figured if I used the apn-conf.xml from that and put it in jellybreads apn-conf.xml (despite cgm's being sprit) ot should work! No dice. Ill give yours a shot n let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

If that APN is what got you hot and bothered, lol, be certain to link back to it in other threads for other users to be able to configure their setup as well. I don't even use my Evo for anything more than a music player, so I could very well not be capable of much more here.

well that apn work specifically for jellybread. Ive been searching for as i said 3 days for a simple custom rom that was stable and fast and fully functional (Minus 4g :,-() . all of them seemed to have major flaws, slow and bloated, threw my phone in a loop, far too many options confusing me.
but for wimax I'm convinced that since I have 4g included in my plan for cricket if i could figure out the right settings in qpst I could get on 4g too. Id probably get a heart attack though from excitement. Ive seen youtube videos for it but i could only hope. ill try posting a new thread for that though.
bless you!

The other cricket users of JellyBread and Kendallc123 herself may be as ecstatic as you if you can get 4g working with cricket, but you should link to this in the JellyBread thread so that the cricket users there see it. Also I'd thank user/dev Wambo_Bomb, since he is the one who left me that APN when he gave me his old Evo.
i spoke too soon. my phone said the message was sent, which before it wasn't even doing that but they aren't getting the pictures on the receiving phone. back to trying out different roms :,-(
though i despise having 2 different numbers for messaging and despise having a app for text and another for mms i suppose i can just use my text free account from pinger for images and my phone for text. obnoxious but it is a work around i suppose.

Cricket 4g will never work on the og. The reason is simple cricket 4g is lte while the og is wimax. Now as far as mms that will work but you have to make changes to the apn. I have attached one that I know works but you will have to edit the username in the apn. Unlike most carriers each cricket user has a unique user name. It is your phone number here is an example ( [email protected]). Easiest way way to do this is get apn backup and restore from playstore. Backup your current apn and then copy this one into the apnbackup folder that was created and edit the username. Turn on airplane mode delete apn then restore the cricket_sprint.XML file. Reboot phone and turn off airplane mode.
As long as your settings are correct in qpst then this will get your mms working. If you need further help feel free to pm me.

thank you for the link ill give it a shot. as i said before I've tried MANY apn settings so i do know how to do it. every apn ive tried for cricket or metropcs though has had different numbers in the other lines. (NOT the MDN line, i know you have to put your number in the mdn line) My settings in qpst have to be correct or internet wouldn't be working as well, because as I said the cryogenmod 10 rom was the only rom that mms, (and everything eles worked) for even though the apn was set to sprit. (makes no sense to me but it worked) But the rom was pretty much unusable on my phone with how much battery it drained, (2 and a half hours and the batter was gone) how slow it was, (cpu usage was constantly at 998mhz) and the rom was all around confusing for someone SOMEWHAT new to this stuff with too many options i didn't understand.
I think its something other than apn settings because the cryogenmod rom worked for mms and internet though the apn was set to sprint. all other roms ive tried has had either sms not working and/or mms not working and/or phone not working and/or contact lists not working something for the basic phone functions causes force close errors with all other mods.
once again it didn't work. the pictures say sent but are not being recived by the person im sending them too. SMS that are too long and converted to MMS come arcoss as code to the person they are sent too. I dont understand why one rom with sprint apn settings would work but this one wont. is it possible for roms to change qpst settings? i cant tell anymore though as i cant enter diagnostic mode.

BTW i switched back to the stock htc sense rom.
RingPlus is a Sprint MVNO who offers Sprint service at insanely affordable prices.
I modified the apns-conf.xml that was uploaded by octhrope to work on Ting (another Sprint MVNO) so that those of us on RingPlus could get some 4G LTE action on custom ROMs.
The following zips are flashable in recovery and each one should make a backup of your current apns-conf.xml should you need to revert. It saves it as a .bak file in the same location - you only need to go rename the old file to get your apns bak (See what I did there?)
The 4.4 APN file is the only one I have personally tested. I can confirm it works to provide 4G LTE (as well as 3G) on PSX, Rastacat and OMNI.
Thanks to the following xda users for figuring out the Ting APNs and indirectly helping me solve the issue for R+:
octhrope, poo706 and t3rmin

Well... Register the phone on the website. Put money in your account. You'll probably need to do this on the Stock ROM... Activate your phone. Update PRL and Profile. If you want MMS to work, you'll have to dial ##DATA# and edit the MMSC to the one used by Ringplus. They charge $.07 per MMS and MMS aren't included in any of the plans.
Then if you so desire, flash another ROM and use the file I posted to update your APN so that data/MMS will work.

Ringplus is another of the many Sprint MVNOs offering 4G service. However, I couldn't get data to work at all outside of the Stock ROM. After a couple hours of digging around inside ##DATA# and the Mobile Settings and playing around with Poo_706's Ting APNs, I finally figured out how to get 4G working on Ringplus. Wanted to share it with the world.
This is confirmed working on Rastacat. I assume it will work on any 4.4 ROM. I'm about to test PSX and see if it works there, too.
Theoretically this should flash in recovery, but if it doesn't, try extracting the apns-conf.xml and replacing the one in System -> etc. Be sure to set permissions to rw-r--r--.
Feel free to click Thanks if this helps you.

The first five lines are almost identical to the Ting APNs I borrowed from you and/or poo706. The only thing I changed was the apn name: Sprint uses the apn "n.ispsn", Ting uses the apn "n.t8.ispsn" and Ringplus uses the apn "n.r5.ispsn".
I didn't check to see if that was enough to fix it, but did notice in my APN settings that the protocols were IPV4 on stock, so I added the bottom two lines and pretty much copied exactly what my stock APNs showed up as using an app to look at the APN settings. I changed the protocols from "IPV4V6" to just "IPV4".
Small changes, but the Ting APNs didn't give me ANY data at all (neither did the stock APNs for Kit Kat). I only had Wi-Fi. Using these I have working 1x, 3g and LTE (depending on location)

The stock apns are different, they don't play by the rules of the custom roms... The original ting post in the depreciated section of my post might be the best place to start from.
If you want I can change the installer to say Ringplus instead of Ting.

I agree that the apns-conf.xml on stock is completely useless. Mine was pretty much blank and had no correlation to the data settings on my phone. I used "APN Settings Shortcut" to see what the actual APN settings were that were giving me a data connection on stock, and then translated that information into the apns-conf.xml I used for my 4.4 ROM.
I couldn't figure out how to change the install manifest or whatever it was, so I just left it alone. lol If you want to change it for me, that would be much appreciated.
By the way, in case I haven't clarified yet I'm extremely grateful to you, poo706 and t3rmin for paving the way on the APN settings. I wouldn't have figured it out without being able to look at your work.

I did know there was a difference between 4.3/4.4 and other versions, but copying the stock (4.1.2 on the OG) settings I found with the app worked for me. Although, it could have been the 5 lines I borrowed from poo706's 4.3/4.4 Ting APN that I crammed into your installer...
Who knows. It works for Rastacat and PSX (both 4.4 ROMs) :victory: . I could probably pinpoint which changes made it work, but I'm lazy.

Are you talking about getting it to activate on the Ringplus website or getting your phone to activate the service?
Getting the website to activate my phone took me a couple tries. I kept typing in the ICCID wrong... Double check the numbers.
Just FYI, you have to get Ting to release your phone before Ringplus will let you add it. Unfortunately, Ting doesn't hold your number once it releases your phone, so if you go this route, you're going to get a new number.
Ringplus will let you port your number for $7. But in order to get this to work you either:
A) Activate a different device with Ringplus so that you can port your number, then switch devices.
B) Switch devices on Ting so that you can activate with Ringplus, then once you have the correct device, port your number and cancel your Ting account.
C) Pay $20 to port your number to Google Voice, then another $7 to port to Ringplus...
If you have an extra Sprint device laying around, you're golden... If not, you can still be golden if you have $20 and a lot of patience to wait for ports to go through... Otherwise you can be like me and just change your number haha
Yeah. It wouldn't accept the ESN. Said that it's not on the system. I called Ting and they said they already released the phone from their network.
Is there another way to see our ESN besides looking into the About section? Maybe it's displaying wrong....I don't know. Ringplus woes. Lol

Have you updated your MMSC address?
If so, I think you may have to have some money in your account. MMS costs $.07 each and aren't included in the plan rates. I couldn't get them to send either, but after adding money to my account it went through. Perhaps that was the issue?
I installed SHOstock3 ROM onto my I777 yesterday. After messing around with my phone, I found a few errors but the most pressing is no mobile data. My plan was through AT&T but now its through NET10. I entered in a new APN with NET10s settins (tfdata) but no dice. I have read on this forum that I might have to delete the 3 AT&T APNs that are listed but I cant delete them.
I triple checked my APN settings for NET10 but still no dice. Must I flash the modem?
Thanks.

I believe when sms is converted to mms, it then runs off the data line. I dunno what to tell this guy. If he says he checked his settings and they are okay then I dunno. Double check with net10, if not then just sick it up and move over to metro or redpocket, maybe another mvno.
He shouldn't get all prissy over forum rules. We're all dealt with it. Keeps the people asking for a hand out away.

You most likely need to find the right MMS proxy server and it's port. Most likely it's 80, I haven't seen one that's been 8080 in a while.

What the hell try adding these...
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
And like mindmajick asked, is there anything in your APN TYPE? Most of the examples I see for NET10 say leave it as not set.

I set the MMS proxy as you said but still no dice. APN TYPE was MMS but is now blank. Still nothing.
When you flashed your custom ROM, you may have nuked your APN settings!
As the title says, I think your problem may be related to custom ROMs wiping out APN settings that may have come from the store (or put in by Net10 upon activation/initialization of the phone), and if that's the case, I think I can help you!
I've just gotten done activating (read: porting), configuring, flashing with custom ROMs, and setting up APN settings on 4 unlocked phones that we brought to Net10 (on AT&T's network, via the BYOP program, since these are unlocked GSM/WCDMA phones), I believe I can assist you here.
Rather than trying random combinations of APN settings to try and find one that works, if you call Net10 Customer Support (877-836-2368), all you have to do (once you tell them your phone number/SIM serial number) is ask for someone who can assist you in updating the APN settings for unlocked phones.
You'll be transfered to a different section of Net10's/Tracfone's Technical Support, and whoever picks up will likely tell you they can assist you once you repeat what it is you need help with. They'll tell you the usuals (make sure WiFi, Bluetooth, and Airplane Mode are off, and make sure Cellular Data is enabled, but not Cellular Roaming Data), and then they'll tell you to go down into your SIM/Mobile Network settings screen, and create a New APN. They'll read off the settings they should have, and they they will (or if they don't, you should ask them to "resend the switch and update the settings on their end" in those _exact_ terms, as they've cut the times for this from 3 hours to less than 30 minutes per phone for me).
Then they'll tell you to select the new APN settings, and reboot the phone (or turn it off and back on if your ROM doesn't have a reboot option); they'll have you attempt to open a browser and pull a page down (I highly suggest a mobile site of some sort, being that they're the lightest; it'll either work here or not, there is no "to what degree does it work"). If it doesn't work, they'll give you different settings (though it's not taken more than two APN setting tries for me, and that's mainly because of the area I live in), and then try the browser again. Once the browser is able to pull a mobile site, they'll ask you to try sending a picture message (again, I reccommend a small picture, as it either works or doesn't, so the size will only hold you up longer the bigger it is), even if it's just to yourself.
I've found that if you're simply respectful and paitent with them (as they sometimes have to spend 10 minutes putting various bits of data into other spots on their computers), they will be able to get it done for you within half an hour per phone.
I would highly reccommend that you don't mention your custom ROM however; so long as it doesn't interfere with the APN settings they will never know any better when you tell them you just have a "Samsung Galaxy Note II", and they'll be none the wiser as they fix it for you (because it realistically makes no difference in a problem like this).
If you mention it however, they won't want to help, because they don't know anything about custom ROMs (it seems they're all very terrified of them, and believe they are the spawn of Pewdiepie and Justain Beiber or something similar! XD)
Hoping I've been able to help you here, since I've extremely recent knowledge/experiences to do with the APN settings myself! (Also post whoring as I apparently need 10 before I can let the developers of my custom ROM know about some bugs I've found, go figure!)
If I'm incorrect on the issue, then I'm terribly sorry, and please feel free to ignore me -- I do not claim to be affialiated with Net10, Samsung, whatever ROM you have/whoever wrote/maintains it, etc., and am only trying to be helpful where your problem sounds like something I've dealt with before.
EDIT: I just realized I left out the most important bit! The entire reason for calling them instead of working through all the various permutations of APN setting combos is because your APN settings will be based on [A] your SIM, your phone (NOT ROM, just the phone's IMEI pairing to the SIMs), and [C] your home area/location you use the phone most often.
Just a quick how to on unlocking the Hotspot on any version of tw including our new s7 and s7 edge. Root is Not needed
First you must get your msl
There are numerous ways to get it the best way is call sprint tech support and tell them "band 41 is disabled and you need to enable it. Your friends s5 gets it and he has sprint spark. Mines disabled" "i can tell because the app lte discovery shows it disabled" they will send you to advanced tech support who will give you the msl and walk you through enabling band 41. {just go along with him and say goodbye you got the msl now} or however you can get it
Next type in ##data# (on the phone dialer pad)
Click edit
Type in yoUr MSL
Go to apn settings
Select the first apn EHRPD and go to type
Change it from (default, mms) to (default, mms, dun) no spaces
Click the menu up top right and hit save
{hitting save is mandatory}
Next got to the lte apn
Go to type
And make the same changes also remember HIT SAVE
Now reboot and turn on your Hotspot
Tadaaaa a.
Note Hotspot will not work on airrave. without adding this:
to get it to work on airrave got to the same APN area as above with MSL
click add apn and name it APN2 EVDO_A
next go to APN below name and type n.ispsn
next go down to type and enter default ,mms,dun
next go down to protocol and check ipv6 and ipv4 both do this on the roaming protocol below it also
next go down to bearer and uncheck unspecified and check EVDO_A
last again in the top right corner hit menu save (saving is mandatory) At least this method. But it works flawlessly otherwise. Hopes this helps
Works on All tw roms
Enjoy
if you update your prl or profile youll have to add dun back to the apns it only takes a minute though
profile and prl updates reset the dun setting
enjoy my fellow s7 edge owners
UPDATE: this mod will not work if you've updated past APB5, to the newer APC5
that update blocked the apn settings even with the msl
TO use Hotspot on later firmware as soon as you boot up go straight to hotspot and start it. it will turn off turn it right back on and it will work but you have to reboot everytime you turn it off.
I recommend in setting up at the top you'll see edit (thats for the quick ones listed there)
add Hotspot to it. so when you start up its quicker to get too. this does work because android starts before sprints cockblocker can start up and check. enjoy either way
K i also figured out how to allow hotspot on airavre and most likely any connection. Gonna test roaming next gotta go to a roaming area first. Remember this is a no root method but will probably work on any rom sprint
I got it working on any connection even roaming. Ill post instructions soon.
Are you still working on this?

i got it all done just have to post instructions . works perfect on everything except roaming 1xrtt
ill try and do it today. very simple but there one hoop you have to jump through. not a big one though
no root need too
I have not done any extensive testing but have found that the no root method for other samsung devices works fine for me.
On phone dialer: ##DATA#
Enter MSL Code ( many say to get it during a chat session with sprint and say you need it to fix GPS, I just say I need it for development)
APN Settings -> APN2 EHRPD Internet-> APN Type
Change default,mms->default,mms,dun
Press menu in the upper-right and save
Do the same for APN2 LTE internet
Save
Reboot
Hotspot working. (Sprint)
Thank you for posting instructions; however, I have applied these changes without luck. (checked, double-checked.. then did it a third time to make sure of the settings).
Could it be that you're already provisioned for hotspot? I know there are a few newer Sprint plans that allow for a limited hotspot.
You are using the native hotspot application within the device, correct? Just making sure I'm not missing anything.
Thanks!

@nmcdonald96 just follow the new instructions i posted in the OP. remember to hit save and it does not work roaming
Yes, I am using the native hotspot. I am on the 1500 min, unlimited data plan, no hotspot included. Not sure why yours would not be working. When you retry the changes, are they back to the original settings or the way you changed them?
Success, my friend. Thank you for the how-to!

whats
up bro. glad it worked for you. thanks for the update. this phone takes picture videos everything UNDERWTER
only keep it under 9 feet. also i only have done it in swimming pools. im afraid of the salt water.
any way for the first time im not rooting this phone we can disable any app we want and it runs so fast so smooth
plenty of customization's . love it.
pl us warning if you root it and trip the knox counter fuse. you'll never be able to use samsung pay MST ever.
I figured we should have a thread to discuss working on fixing mobile data on cdma E4's to keep the chatter out of the rom threads. @CodyF86 I'm able to get full signal bars and even get it to say sprint or boost for the carrier. I just can't get it to actually connect. I tried adding overlays for the radio access families: https://github.com/aaronmarch/andro...mmit/c9325b3a56426f4a49af8aa072b075549ab99546
I also changed up the init_moto.cpp like the init_surnia.cpp we have for surnia with only the boost info for now: https://github.com/aaronmarch/andro...mmit/ca313bab8097a971e88ecdcfd8495a0545d9d80e
No go. I've tried changing up the apns, completely different apns, the stock apns, mvno-slayer...
Any ideas? Do you think we can get it, or should we try to call in reinforcements?
https://test-it.us/apns-conf.xml
Here is the stock E4 apns-conf.xml file unfortunately these values must matched what is built into apps/common/res/apns.xml, so you'd have to include the apn file i linked to /etc/apns-conf.xml and make that match what you build lineage with or use sql editor.
I'm working on it as we speak tho. I did randomly have a 1x data connection earlier lol. Well get it; it should be simple. WIll keep you posted.
And for whatever reason being able to edit and save apns if you edit the mcc mnc and have them not disappear seems to have reverted. It was working for a month or so not to long ago.
apn carrier="Sprint"
mcc="311"
mnc="870"
type="default,supl,mms,fota,cbs,ia,wifi"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IPV4V6"
mmsc="http://mm.myboostmobile.com"
mmsproxy="oap7.sprintpcs.com"
mmsport="80"/>
Is the new boost /sprint LTE apn.
I added the wifi under type even tho boost blocks wifi calling atm via the phones imei or whatever, but sprint allows wifi calling can also change name of apn carrier to sprint, but seems like lineage roms call it sprint regardless and that doesn't really matter.

Check out "SysLog"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog
This is a quick way to pull a log for people without quick access to a PC. Just tick modem bc it covers ril/sim connections
This isn't 100% perfect but it is a good place holder for sending info and it has a scrubber to clear off personal data. But it takes longer.

It's odd because I've gotten 3G to work without even touching a thing. 1 day I got no data and the next I'm suddenly connected. After flashing the test zip in the Aquarios thread, it stopped working. I reflashed the ROM in hopes it'll return but no luck so far
On the lineage ROM I get 3G when I reset network settings and enable and disable airplane mode for some reason. Not sure if any of you guys have experienced the same thing with that ROM. I will be tinkering with various things to see if anything comes from it.

For future reference, please don't talk about a rom other then the one the thread is for. In reference to your AquariOS comment in the Lineage thread. It's kinda rude and against the rules.

I am on the stock rom of the unlocked Amazon version. Phone is on the Sprint Free Service for a year plan so I figured I would tinker around with *#*#DATA#*#* because I was trying to figure out if CA was enabled because it's the Qcom Snapdragon version. I tried changing the LTE Band Priority. Band 41 is strong in my area and I have a Magic Box which amplifies it to be useable indoors. When I changed the Band Priority the LTE signal COMPLETELY dropped. If I switch settings to 3G or 1x I'll get signal bars. When I first turn on the phone it will connect to LTE for less than a second and then completely drop.
I'm guessing when I changed the band setting (I may have made 1 small change on the APN screen but can't remember) that it made an edit to the APN, which seems impossible to get to the regular APN screen like you easily can with GSM carriers.
I'm a newbie but I've searched everywhere trying to find a fix without rooting (since I just got the phone a month ago it would be easier to get a warranty replacement at this point). Ultimately what I'm saying is that it seems whatever the issue you are having with the custom mod must be similar to what I accidentally did to my phone. Maybe that will help narrow down what exactly is triggering your phone to not have data. :cyclops:
If this is a "duh, we knew that already" I apologize in advance! I browse tons of threads on here but have never posted so I was thinking maybe my mistake could help figure out someone else's issue

I also believe it may have something to do with ##SCRTN# in stock, then flashing over. Because going from Lineage with 1x to stock makes my phone go 3G only until I use ##SCRTN# then it fixes the data properly to LTE
(This has happened everytime with Amarc's Alpha Lineage OS)
