SM-R800 charging dock - possible to use charger >1A? - Samsung Galaxy Watch

The charger that comes with this phone is rated 5V 1A. I was looking at third party chargers on eBay so I could have a spare one to use at work. Some of them mentioned that the maximum input current should be 1A. If I use a 2A charger with the original or third-party dock, is this likely to damage the dock or the watch?

Neither. The input rating shows the maximum it can take - i.e. using a 5V 2A charger, it will still only take 5V 1A.

I use a 3.5A charger and charge just like with 1A

You can use a higher rated adaptor/charger, but you won't really charge at any faster rate. Still, if you are buying new it does make sense to buy a higher rated adapter so you can use it for other devices later on.

Car charger 1a or 2a

I have a universal car charger. With a 1a and 2a outlet.
Can you charge it safely with the 2a outlet?
If you want full charging speed, you want to use 2A as the G4 can draw up to 1.8A on a standard 5v USB port. Having a higher amperage charger won't damage it, as the phone draws what it needs up to what the charger supports, in this case it will draw up to 1.8A on that 2A port.
I'd look at getting a compatible quick charge charger though for the quickest charging.
use 2A, it wont mess it up, and the phone only takes what it needs which is 1.8

What is the deference between Sony UCH10 and a standard 2.0A charger?

Is there any? I have samsung 2A charger, should I buy the Sony UCH10?

I think Sony's QC2.0 charger is the UCH20, isn't it?
If the UCH10 is not QC2.0, not any real point to it. You really want a QC2.0 charger (plenty of good third-party ones on Amazon...)
If the Samsung 2A charger is anything like my old N8013 tablet charger (which increases voltage to 5.3v when 2A is being drawn to offset cable losses), I'd stick with it unless you get a QC2.0 charger.
UCH10 is Sony's QC certified charger.
UCH20 is the successor of EP880 (the one that was bundled with all previous Z series).
It is not QC certified but charges slightly quicker that its predecessor(even though it's output is listed as the same).
WIth that being said, there has been reports that battery lasts longer when charging with the EP880. I have yet to test that and in would be an interesting feat

2.4A Charger??

I've recently bought a 2.4A 5V charger for my tablet. I don't know the current ratings for this tablet. So is it safe to use the 2.4A output of the charger? It has the original battery on it.
I use one regularly.

I use one all the time as otherwise it takes 'forever' to charge my P605. It still takes quite awhile but probably two times faster than a 1A charger. I think the Note limits the input voltage to some extent.

Thank you for your reply. I've measured the currents while charging my tablet. When I use 2.4A output it is drawing around 300mA current which is nonsense. I think there is a compatibility problem with the adapter and the tablet. However when I use the 1A output it directly draws a stable 1A current. Now I am using this output to charge my phone and my phone's adapter to charge my tablet, which gives 1.3A. My phone is note 2.
So my problem is solved. Again thank you for replying

I'm using a RaVpower iSmart which has a 5V/2.4A and a 5V/3.0A port. the 3A port is very slow to charge but the iSmart 2.4A charges faster. I guess it may be the charger type, sensing/negotiating the maximum battery charge rate correctly could be the difference. Wish I had a way to test that theory.

Multi-port Charger options (e.g. Anker, RavPower)

Seriously considering this phone, but there are a few aspects that are putting me off, one of those being the proprietary charge protocol.
With so many devices in the house, I currently have a 5 port Anker desk charger, and really don't want to be restricted to the Huawei charger to get anything better than "slow charging".
Has anyone tested charging using a third party multi-port desk charger and found fast charge 2A charge working? Has anyone tried USB PD via a USB-C port?
Also, please share experience of third party multi-port chargers that will NOT supply 2A charging so that we can rule out models.

I'm currently using choetech 3 ports wall charger. Maximum it could provide is 1.8A. Not quite as fast but fully charged within 2 hours. Good enough for me.

Yes, that's how I know it's charging at 1.8A. But I don't really check the charge when it reaches something like 70-80%.

Is it safe to get an external Qi charger receiever to get faster 3rd party charging?

I just thought of something,
With my current Pixel 3XL and case only supports 500 ma QI charging from 3rd party chargers, would it be ok to get an external Qi receiver, plug it into the USB C port, and get a faster charge (maybe 1000ma) that way? Or would having a 2 Qi receivers (1 in the pixel and 1 attached to the outside) next to each other be bad?
You want to get a crappy qi antenna and plug it into the phone, then use that to put on a third party qi charger to charge? wtf, stop being a weirdo.

Currently going 100% wireless I'm only get 500mA charge rates. 1000mA would be double the speed
