Post update, I'm noticing that my icons are a bit slow. I'll get the audio alert but no icon shows until about 3-5 seconds after I hear the noise. It used to be at the same time. Oddly, if my device is off and I get an alert - I can wait indefinitely - but when I turn the device on it still takes a few seconds for it to show up.
This just me? I can't find any other posts on this, and would really hate to wipe & re-install everything.

It has happened about 3 times so far that my phone has made a series of loud beeping noises that lasts about 10 seconds with no discernible cause. Changing the volume does not stop it until I put it all the way down into vibrate mode. It almost sounds like it could be ringing but it isn't the ringtone I have set. When it happens, I check my notifications and running apps to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? This is my first Android phone so it is possible I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Same thing here. The beeping starting happening sometimes when I rebooted but now it's been doing it pretty much every time I get a text message and it also randomly replaces my default ringtone when calls come in. It's a loud beeping down that lasts about two seconds and repeats over and over. Sometimes it stops itself after a few cycles but sometimes it will not stop until I acknowledge the notification (opening up the text or answering a cal). It's very annoying. Might have to try a hard reset soon.

Yeah, for some reason it seems the text notification ringtone will change back to that god-awful sound for no reason. Very annoying.
Do you have yurt phone setup to remind you of missed calls and text?

This happens when you've rebooted and gotten a message. Your SD card, containing your ringtone, hasn't mounted yet. The media scanner is running. Following this operation, the ringtone will work once more.
From some few days, strange beeping sound comes sometimes through my phone .When I check my phone there is no notification,& the sounds last for10-12 seconds, please help me if someone knows the reason. My phone is redmi Note 4g
So this is the 2nd time this has happened to me. I left my phone unattended for 15 minutes and came back inside with some missed notifications-- no big deal. As I cleared the notifications by swiping them away the (new notification sound) beep wouldn't stop. I was able to turn the volume down and start a chat with google from the help and support option, but they couldn't help me. I re-booted and it stopped. What would cause this? My battery level was pretty low-- minus 15%. Has this happened to anyone else??
I have the Note 8 on Verizon. Last week I received a software update to Oreo. Shows on phone as N950USQU3CRC2.
Excuse my terminology if I call something the wrong thing. I will attempt to be as detailed as possible.
I have several apps that put information into the status bar. This is what I call the bar at the top of the phone with the time and battery indicator, etc. I do not have a screen stand by, or lock or anything else. I push the button on the right to cut the screen on and off. All power saving features that I am aware of have been disabled.
Since the software update, some of information that used to stay permanently (persistent notification?) in the status bar would seem to be missing. When I pull down on the status bar to see all the notifications, I see the missing information, but now it seems to be minimized (compacted?). It has down arrows that I have to press to expand the information, then I actually have to open the app to get the information to go back to the status bar. After a short time the notifications disappear from the status bar again and I have to slide it down, expand with the arrow, open the app, etc. over and over.
It is very frustrating to have to do this all day long. Am I missing something? Is there a way to turn this minimization (compacting?) off so that all status bar info shows in the status bar all the time?
Hi I had this problem with one of my apps on Oreo. Go to Settings...Display....Status Bar. Make sure where it says show only 3 recent notifications is turned off. That should should hopefully help
Lrivera76, thanks for your reply. I checked where you referenced and it is turned off already. Interestingly enough, since about noon today, the three notifications I have been fighting with for the past few days have been staying on the status bar. The others that I do not care so much about are still staying minimized or compacted and I have to slide the notifications down to see them, but I do not really care if I see them or not. I began to wonder if the OS had some way of learning that I wanted these 3 left at the top because I kept reopening them over and over? I don't know. I wish there was an obvious way to just turn the minimizing thing off. We can already turn off a notification if we do not want it. What would be the purpose of leaving it on, but not see it. I don't get it.

I use the Navbar app and now with Oreo it stays on my pull-down menu as well. That didn't happen on Nouget. If you haven't tried, clear your cache partition and restart your phone. I was at the point where I was going to do a factory reset due to my battery not lasting the way it did but basically checking all my settings, notifications, displays, etc turning off things that where on when they weren't before saved me from having to do it. Give it a couple of days for the OS to settle if not you can do a factory reset to see if it gets rid of any issues.
Hi there
Sometimes when I receive an email the notification will not show up on the phone, that is no sound and no led notification.
However as soon as I press the power button or unlock the screen the notification will pop up.
It is almost as if the device goes to sleep state when screen is turned off.
The emails that I miss at times due to this problem are time sensitive and really important for my work.
Such delays are at times resulting in direct monetary loss.
This was never an issue on my Galaxy Note 3 from which I have upgraded.
Can anyone of you guide and assist me as to which settings need to be changed to get it to work properly.
Many thanks for your time.
I have a simmilar issue here. Some notifications show up normally, like mail and facebook, but other apps only show notifications if i have they are opened.
It's like the system is forcing close those apps.

Still haven't found any solution.
Things I have tried :
1. Going to Power Master > Battery Mode > Balance
Thinking that in other modes it would kill background apps to save power.
2. Went to Power Master > Autostart Manager > Added apps I need notifications to start on system startup.
Apart from the mentioned problem, I see another one.
I opened What's app notification setting and turned Group Notifications off and Message notifications are set to show silently and minimize.
However the app itself changes the setting and forces messages on screen by itself over riding my changes. Have been happening since a long time now no matter how many times I change the settings.
Update if you can find any resolution.
I've not had TCL that long little over a month and before the update a few days ago it wasn't making this occasional sound (it's hard to explain but it's a four beat sound like a notification but it's not)
Since I updated it a few days ago it won't stop doing that noice I've turned off all notifications, turned on silent mode and only put calls back on and it still does it.
It's driving me insane because I don't want to be in a call and my phone makes that sound or even be out and it make that sound.
It happens randomly at night as well, as I typed this it has happened twice.
I am asking for any advice before I end up going back to iPhone or go to a small phone. It is probably something simple but I have no clue and it's driving me mad.
Thanks.
I do notice this as well. On AOD Display or Notification screen when phone briefly turns on is a solid grey circle notification and then disappears when unlocking the phone.
There are 4 things you can try:
1. Clear data of all your browsers, It could be a browser sending the notification. Which for me it is. I have chrome send me notification on a website I have saved as an app to my home screen.
2. Boot into recovery mode and clear your cache.
3. Go to Settings > Apps > View all Apps > 3 dot menu > Reset app preferences.
4. Factory reset.
