Hello guys!
I have a nice news for any people, who using LS980
Several days i was in meditation about using Sprint LS980 in GSM network with native Android features, like Wi-Fi and bluetooth Internet sharing, and ability to chosing preferred GSM network by hand.
So, i did some research and made small tool, which will help you to get things, we have told about in simple steps
Requirement:
You should be on clean ZVG
You should be rooted
You should enable USB debugging
Lets make a freedom!
1. Plug you smartphone to PC
2. Install latest USB drivers
3. Be sure that
Code:
adb devices
command will return you device id
4. Download simfree.7z and unpack it. exe-file absolutely free from any viruses - i made it via BAT2EXE converter
5. Install Insecure adbd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590 and enable insecure adbd daemon
6. Run simfree.exe and allow root-right for adbd on your smartphone screen
7. Your phone will reboot

It works, and contains numerous apn settings to I got data right away.
Unfortunately, it doesn't disable hands free activation, that step must be done manually.

I've done it under ZVG and i didn't test it under other ROM's.

You mean ##3282# (##DATA#), yes?

Before running the SIMFREE.EXE you should backup:
- /system/etc/apns-conf.xml -- (stock LS980 ZVG here)
- /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
- /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/carrier (/dev/block/mmcblk0p27) -- (stock LS980 ZVG here)
That is if you want to be able to easily undo the changes.

If you are wary of MS-DOS batch files wrapped in EXE files performing mysterious actions and want to handle this yourself:
Install these files:
- apns-conf.xml
- carrier.img
Remove this file:
- /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db

I wonder if the carrier.img packaged with simfree.exe is copy of the carrier partition of a GSM ZVG G2? For some reason the props patch inside of it has the Sprint props file from the stock carrier.img converted to filenames in their own directory. What is *that* about? Odd.
I'm a bit peeved that someone tosses up an EXE without providing any breakdown of what it actually *does*. At close examination it looks innocuous though, but you do never know.

I don't think so, 'cause i don't have LG Flex

Perfect tool, works flawless and can see the much needed tethering options can you shed some light as to how to enable the data roaming onto the stock ZVG ROM as the option is missing...

Unlocked a LS980 Bad ESN with this method, doesn't seems to work. Don't know is Bad ESN device block from all carriers in US or Just for Sprint?
After unlocked, put a T-mobile sim in, but no signal bar.

LG H-540 (?) variant, root help needed.

I've been searching all around the LG G4 forum and notes, but I can't seem to find the right root method/.imgs/ TWRP for my LG G4.
The variants supported by the guides are H-8xx series, while my series is H-540.
Can someone link me to the post/thread that can help me root my LG G4(H-540) variant?
Helps and suggestions are welcome. Though I might tread very carefully with this LG phones as I've heard that they're very easy to brick.

Join the "LG G4 Stylus (Latinoamérica)" group on Facebook. There is a tutorial for downgrade (if your Stylus has Android MM non-rootable).

But from what I understand if it's right, I have to flash the .kdz?
in order to root, I need to download the flashfire from appstore and xde zip, and xposed from web and then proceed as the image provided?

but you can use Google Translate...
Well if you now on LP, just use KingRoot for get root on your Stylus. Maybe this take a some times for rooting, but its works.
And IF YOU WANT, install FlashFire and those things, its not a necessary for the root, this is for get Xposed only.

Hi! Finally got my LG G4 rooted through KingRoot! Installed SuperSU from playstore but I can't seem to get Xposed to work. Any ideas? It's not in the FB group.

but, for get SuperSU it's not so simple like install it from Play Store, you must replace all KingRoot's binaries and APK, with a Script. (LINK)
Extract mrw.zip into internal SD (the folder "mrw").
Now install "Terminal Emulator" from Play Store.
Open Terminal and type this:
su (then press Enter)
sh /data/media/0/mrw/root.sh (then press Enter)
Wait until complete and reboot.
So, if you do all previous things, you can use FlashFire and flash the Xposed's .zip

before it somehow showed me to the kingroot unrooting help & etc. what to do?

Hi! I tried to do what you told me to do previously, now the phone is unrooted, KingRoot is uninstalled after I reboot the phone. After that I tried to run the as you told me to:

but it says Permission denied, and now after I check the Root checker it's unrooted again. What to do?

try root with KingRoot again then exec the Script (if you get any error, upload an screenshot). So now reboot.

So this happened.

sprint activation each time I boot the device

I bought a LG G8 on Ebay from what appeared, and appears, to be a legitimate seller.
Phone works good in UK but how to get rid of the sprint activation evrytime I boot the device?

You have to disable an apk, i believe it is system update, but i haven't found a working apk disabler for the g8.

Dont know the exact name of it, but it should be something like system-update.apk.

That's why I will never buy another CDMA unlocked LG phone...there are always some issues that make the phone either non functional or just annoying.

I have the same issue. Are these Sprint System Apps removable via ADB?
If yes, can someone please explain how?

This just happens to me if i reboot the phone, and i rarely do that, maybe once or twice a month? so its no big deal for me.

You can disable sprint apps viia ADB, but this will not stop the annoying issue.

im using a unlocked sprint G8 on brazil, and its like perfect for me, no problems at all

That will not stop the activation upon reboot.

I'm having this exact same problem unfortunately. The best "trick" I've found to making it less burdening is pressing emergency call and then hitting back. That allows me to use the phone like normal, but I still have to wait for the sprint activation to do its thing and inevitably fail every time I go back to the home screen.

I have found a way to disable the Sprint activation.
Install "System App Remover", find all app package names that include sprint or spr and disable them through ADB.( pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sprint.ecid) I use System App Remover to find the name of the app as by Adb command "list packages " it gets confusing and there are lot to be looked for. My Sprint LG G8 works flawless now on Vodafone UK.

Are you sure that was the package that did it? I thought for sure I removed all sprint apps via adb including .ecid. I ordered the Sprint G8 from ebay again. Should have it today. I will try again. Also did you do this with sim card in or out?

I gave an example of a package to remove, I think it was the Sprint system update that triggered the activation on boot .

In the Phone App there are settings for blocking a number but haven't found anything about "spam calls"

Can you post a playstore link to the app? There are several of that name and they require root.

hey guys i know that you can remove the sprint apps with ADB but can you guys help me with all the instructions, what annoys me the most was the carrier hub app until i turned off the notification, and the activation when i boot the phone so should i remove alll the sprint apps or just those two and how

just go on the app store and download the app called application manager and find the file names of all sprint bloat you want to uninstall. Follow the adb installation process. The activation popup can be removed with uninstall this package name com.lge.lgdmsclientspr

after updating to LE2123_11.C.38 I can no longer access the *#*#4636#*#* and *#801# menu.
Anyone else plagued with the same problem?

It seems to me that after the update the codes no longer work also after a full wipe.

It's also impossible to uninstall or disable google apps, such as chrome, youtube, etc.

solved using adb:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.chrome --> to uninstall chrome
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.youtube --> to uninstall youtube
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.apps.youtube.music --> to uninstall youtube music

Someone created this magisk module since this problem came about with A12(OS12). It makes 4636 work like b4.

I was afraid of this: the OP9 is my first phone that I don't root because I thought OnePlus was already excellent.
But after 5G not working, this nasty upgrade to android 12 and other little things I have to change my mind.

Does this only unlock the 4636 menu to work? (you could use a third-party app to open the same menu) I'm more concerned about unlocking engineering mode to use QPST.

This worked for me plus the 5g switch app in the playstore will bring you to the testing menu if that's what your looking for.

I need engineering mode to use QPST to enable N77 C-Band on Verizon, I have it done on OOS 11, idk if it will remove once updating to OOS 12.

Temporarily updated to Oxygen OS 12 C.48 a while ago, got engineer mode working, however, the "Rndis,diag switch" switch was missing, could not enable it for QPST to function, no ADB command worked, maybe someone smarter than me can get "{Rndis,diag switch" to work, I couldn't.
I downgraded back to OOS 11.2.10.10.
