Facebook messenger app crash - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hi,
When I go to settings in Facebook's Messenger and go to "Notifications & Sound" > "Notification sound" the app crashes. If I go to Facebook's Messenger and go to "Notifications & Sound" > "Ringtone" is works just fine (the 2 options are kinda similar)
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the app with the same result. I have also just updated to 10.0.7, no difference.
Anyone else has issues with this?

Can't un-sync Picasa photos from gallery

As soon as you sign into your google account it syncs everything. When I uncheck the "sync google photos" The photos are still in the gallery. I restart the phone and press refresh but they are still in the gallery.
Anyway to get rid of this? other than going into picasa and deleting the photos from my PC
Still cant fix this. Am I the only one with this problem?
I had the same issue yesterday, doing a quick Google search brought me to XDA.
1. Make sure your "Google photos" option in "Accounts and Sync" is unchecked.
2. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Gallery. Now hit the "Clear data" button
3. Go to Settings > apps > All Apps > Google+. Now hit the "Clear data" button
4. Go to the Gallery app and hit the menu key and refresh.
5. Your albums won't go away immediately. Patience.
That's how it worked for me.
Another thing; ensure your google+ settings have auto instant upload unchecked.

[Q] (XS) How to send sms with the stock sms app to a specific contact

Hi guys, i had a clean install of the latest update, and when i tried to send an SMS to a contact i chose Facebook Messenger and Always. How can i change it to the stock SMS app?
Go to facebook messenger in the app list, select it, scroll down and you should find "Clear Defaults" or something like that. This is the procedure to remove the "always" setting of any app by the way.

"Default SMS" setting missing from "Wireless & Networks > More"

"Default SMS" setting missing from "Wireless & Networks > More"
Nexus 5X , Nougat 7.0, stock. Unrooted.
I use Hangouts for SMS (I like being able to see conversations on all my devices)
It used to be that you could set the Default SMS by going:
Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Default SMS App
Apparently Nougat has removed that setting.
I have searched pretty carefully through the various settings screens and I cannot find the new location for this setting.
Thoughts?
It has moved I believe.
Settings > Apps > Click 'cog' icon in top right > SMS App
Nice one, thanks.
FWIW: Installing Allo does *not* change default SMS.

Override stock messaging app?

Device: Realme X (China variant)
So, other than installing a custom rom, is there any way to override the stock messaging app in ColorOS 6 that would allow to me to use Facebook Messenger instead as the SMS app?
When I try to do that now, I always get a system message about it switching back to stock for security reasons... ?
I had the same issue when I tried to switch to the Google SMS app. Even after uninstalling the package trough adb it prompted me to switch to it and wouldn't let me use the google app. The prompt appeared when I received a text message and the "default app" setting wouldn't let me chose the google app.
I tried Microsoft SMS organizer app as my default messaging app and it worked fine. I was getting my messages on SMS organizer app instead of the stock one. And I didn't have to debloat the stock messaging app. All I did was selecting SMS Organizer as my default messaging app on settings and that's it.

Galaxy S9 notification delays

Hello,
I just got a S9 and updated it to Android 10.
Ive noticed my Gmail and Facebook Messenger notifications are usually really delayed or dont come through at all until I go into app.
Im not sure if this has been answered but Im hoping you guys might know what I should do.
I have enabled notifications for each app & enabled them to appear on lock screen.
In Gmail account I set notifications to "all". Also, under Inbox notifications "Notify for every message" is checked.
In "App Power Management": "Adaptive battery" is checked. "Put unused apps to sleep" is checked. Within "Apps that wont be put to sleep" I added Gmail. No option to add Messenger.
The Power Mode is set to "Optimized".
What else should I do to fix Gmail and Messenger notification delays?
