Unlock bootloader, flash Global via Mi Flash, relock bootloader to avoid losing warranty (or don't if you feel like tinkering about)
Unlock bootloader can take a long time though.

After some searching, it may not work (you can apparently only relock on China if that was your original ROM), so you might have to use the phone with a unlocked BL.
Basically, don't attempt to flash Global if you want to keep your warranty.

Switch from Global to China/India
Hi there,
I have an EU Global Redmi Note 8 that I bought in UK. I noticed, however, that the call recording function has been pulled from EU devices due to some new nonsense policies so I'd like to switch if possible. I'm just wondering how I could switch from EU to China/India rom, and if possible, lock the bootloader.
Ultimately, I'm happy to switch even if I cannot re-lock, but I'd like to know how even so.
Many thanks

To switch from EU version to global/Indian use mi flash and flash fastboot rom. I recommend flashing indian rom as it has stock mi dialer which has call recording as global rom has google dialer with no call recording feature.

I recommend you don't lock the bootloader if in different region rom as it might cause brick....select "clean_all" in mi flash and NOT "clean_all_and_lock".

I'm Confused about Xiaomi Mi Max 3 OFFICIAL ROM

I'm new here and I'm confused about the official global rom for the xiaomi mi max 3. I got 2 questions:
1) Is there an official global rom for it?
2) Where can I buy a legit xiaomi mii max 3 phone WITH OFFICIAL rom already installed from?

Yes, the recovery version of global stable is available for download. If you have a chinese variant phone without TWRP recovery, you need the fastboot version of the ROM to flash it but it's not available for download right now.

Hi ryanllts,
Yes I want the global rom. But are you saying I cannot root the global rom? That the only way to root is through the chinese rom?

Indian rom on global version device.

Could please someone let me know if I can install Indian rom on global version phone, and please share the way to install.
Yes, You can Install it.
The Process are
- Unlock Bootloader using Mi Unlock Tool.
- Download Fastboot Rom of Indian Version.
- Download MiFlash Tool and while flashing, Don't Select "Clean all and lock" option. Just select only "Clean all" option to avoid brick issue.
*Note: Unlocking Bootloader will erase user data. If device got brick, only option to fix it is to take it to service center.
I'm gonna do this tonight, been waiting 7 days to unlock bootloader, just for this.
The only reason I'm doing this is to get stock MIUI Dialer and messaging app, with default call recording built-in.
Can someone confirm this?

Alexa does work but make sure to turn off Alexa hands-free in the notification toggle. My device couldn't play audio, auto-brightness didn't work and videos were sped up. After turning it off everything worked again.
NFC is nowhere available, not as a toggle and not in the settings.

Actually way more boring than I thought. Flashed the China Rom after that and that also sucked. I'm now back on EEA
Can you also tell how to install the Android 10 rom on Indian device? I've been waiting for so long but the Indian Rom is still stuck on 11.0.4

If your bootloader is unlocked and you flash the whole Rom using fastboot, it should not be a problem.
I've read about some anti-rollback 'feature' on some roms, but that would be from Android 10 I think.
Both the versions you mentioned being Android 9 they should not have it.
PS: If you flash IN Rom you are going to loose NFC.
Having the preloader and lk already installed as the megathread intrudes, just need to follow the same steps indicated here?
Do I need to reinstall it after the flash of the Indian version?
Thanks.

no it doesn't only global devices rom get nfc hardware so is software support , conclusion is any device sold officially outside india is global rom and have nfc , i tried indian rom but problem is to make something like that you need to make a custom rom with these features which is nearly impossible because mediatek doesn't care about its' customers and its' restrictions are beyond insane , that's why xiaomi.eu ended support for mediatek phones because of bad platform and crazy restrictions that blocks developers from having freedom that they get on snapdragon platform , it's not xiaomi's fault.

Relock bootloader after flashing ROM Indonesia

SOLVED !!!: My Redmi Note 8 Pro is the Global Version, can I block the bootloader without brick risk after flashing the Indonesian ROM?
Some moderator could support me to move the thread to Redmi Note 8 Pro. Thank you
Edit: Thanks @strongst
I confirm that it is possible to close the bootloader after flashing the Indonesian ROM on a Redmi Note 8 Pro Global. To do this, use the MiFlash application and check the "clean all" option. Do not check the option "clean everything and block" in case there is a problem during or after the fhashing.
After I could confirm the ROM was multilingual and that everything worked fine (wifi, data, bluetooth, nfc, spearkers, etc.), I closed the bootloader, put my device in "fastboot" mode and executed the command "fastboot oem lock ".
Before closing the bootloader I didn't see the Netflix application in the Google Play store, after closing the bootloader there was no problem.

They would really be the same steps for any Xiaomi team, so you just need to search the threads of some model. The only variant would be the ROM you need to download, which in this case It would be for the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

You probably were on a Global flavor of the phone aside from it having a Global Rom.
However I want to stress for others who may be reading this, that if I am not mistaking, based on posts I have read, if your device HW is Chinese flavor, it is absolutely not recommended to relock bootloader after flashing anything as it WILL result into bricking your device.
Edit:
That's exactly what's being said on the tutorial you provided above and that's where I had read about it actually
Here is the part in question.
Edit 2:
DO NOT RE-Lock the Bootloader if you change from China ROM to Global ROM in China phone. Re-Locking will BRICK your phone. Select only "Clean All" option before flashing.

you have to lock in fastboot mode and make sure your MIUI version is the same as the device. for example your device base version is India and you have to flash it with the Indian version to lock the bootloader and make sure it's correct so it doesn't happen hard brick

you can flash EEA rom too but don't lock bootloader on any other region roms. Xiaomi has weird rules that states that if you try to relock bootloader on other region roms your device will be bricked.. Better not to lock bootloader. It's not a big deal anyway. Moreover after unlocking bootloader and root you can remove bloatware like ads and chinese apps etc and a few other things..you can also try xiaomi.eu rom which is debloated(you can still debloat more),customized, tweaked, deodexed and a bit optimized.

Here's the thing you don't understand..Just because you're on warranty doesn't mean you have to keep your bootloader locked. Like I said if you lock your bootloader on other region roms like global, europe, chinese, russian etc your device might be bricked..Only lock your bootloader on indian rom as that is the rom for your region. You can flash indian rom anytime and lock bootloader and your warranty will be there.
For flashing different region roms you can flash through recovery yes but fastboot method is recommended.

You first need to read this great guide by RollDload https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-flash-a-stock-rom-alioth.4355797/ to understand how to flash stock MIUI in the right way.
I can't answere about device compatibilty between indian and Indonesian
I hope this will help you
Thank you bonerserk for the reference link
First of all I'm not a pro, so do it with your own risk. But, I knew few things since I've changed my Rom back and forth using ID ROM, EU, CN, and many others Custom Rom.
In response of ur questions:
1 & 3. I recommend using Mi Flash Tool. Download the tool, and the required ROM (the FASTBOOT one, since you want to use the ID ROM, there's only 12.5.6 version for the FASTBOOT Rom) using the thread link provided by @bonerserk follow the instructions CAREFULLY.
2. Didn't know the answer.
4. It depends on ur needs. If you just want to remove the Chinese Bloatware, then the Global Rom is suitable since it has less Chinese bloatware.
Thanks, @the.ogeph for the response - After reading the Flashing method come to know Xiaomi implement Anti Rollback features in Some Model - also in Mi11X I didn't get a three-dot option (Additional Features) on Settings->About Phone - Where Some Model has this option - Now I am confused is Mi11X has implemented this features or not? If I Try and stuck due to Anti Rollback then there is no solution available as of now.
Which Device do you have? I didn't find any Mi11X owner who tried this
That's why I recommend you to use Miflash tool. You could bypass the ARB Protection by editing the (.bat) file line command. Just google it or watch tutorial on Yt.
Please follow the instruction really carefully. I've soft bricked my phone once because I skipped 1 step.

Which official ROM is better in terms of Battery backup in your opinion? international, ID, CN or EU Rom?

Without using Custom Kernel and any other tweek, EU is the best for Battery Life. Try using EU MIUI 13 A12, its quite good for daily use.

Have you unlocked Bootloader - Because nowadays lots of tutorials show change ROM with Locked Bootloader - EU Rom has Google dialer or Stock MIUI Dialer?

Yes I've unlocked my phone, probably a week after I bought my F3 phone.
Probably I was wrong, but I don't believe you can change Rom (Stock or Custom) without unlocking ur phone.
EU has MIUI Dialer.

xiaomi.EU rom is a custom rom based on miui, so you need to unlock bootloader to install it and it didnt use miflash official tool to flash
But I have watched lots of videos where people change Xiaomi ROM with the different regions such as Global to EU, Indonesia, China with the locked bootloaders - for Only Mi11X not able to find any Source
