Scrolling screenshot - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Does anyone have problems with scrolling screenshot on MIUI 11? I can't take any, when tap on scroll it just stuck...and there is only done button on screenshot menu.

All working fine. you have to press Scroll, then scroll the actual screen thats shown manually then press "Done"

It's a bug. At times it doesn't work.

When I scroll on other apps like fb, it works. But when I'm at chrome it doesn't. I think it's because I updated my phone from 11.0.3 to 11.0.8 and 11.0.8 is the latest?

As I've read on the internet, it doesn't work with Chrome it'll work with the mi browser, opera, fox etc and other apps. But just not chrome. Seems like some people are lucky to have it work with Chrome. I can't get into work with Chrome either

It is not consistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm beginning to regret purchasing this device which has other bugs and the developers never care to fix them.

Long screenshot scroll does not work
Yes the long screenshot don't work. It worked only twice. I tried every where no setting was changed or found.

sense ui wont stay default?

some reason my senseui wont stay as default home button action... whenever i open the quick menu then click the home again... it will ask me to use htc sense or launcher... and i checked the default use for htc sense ui... is there anyway to fix this?
if you click set as default it should work, you can always just go uninstall launcher, or download home switch(er) from market.
i checked, and looks like it was an app, b/c i even reflashed and same issue right when i installed the newest qik
Weird, this happens to me too. Anytime I long press the home button and open one of the recent apps I lose my default launcher and have to re-select it...
You think it may be Qik?
*edit- It's definitely the qik update. I just uninstalled it and the bug went away, reinstalled and its back.
yea... qik updates are ****ty for some reason...
has anyone noticed how the evo battery will hold a charge at certain percentages... and drop quickly at other percentages quickly?
this issue just happened to me, thanks for the tip about qik, uninstalled and all is fine.
Same problem and solution here.
Qik sucks. I hope a GTalk app with video chat and facetime/skype support is in the works.
Uninstalled Qik.. Home button keeps defaults again.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents that I have had this issue also.
When I hold down the home button to switch apps.. I see the sense ui icon listed and this effectively resets/loses my default behavior for my home button.
As soon as I uninstalled Qik.. I dont see the Sense UI icon listed anymore while doing home long press. It also remembers my home default behavior.

Back button and Mango

I find there are a number times when navigation is problematic on WP7, caused by a few design issues:
- there being a back button but no forward button
- apps always start from home page when loaded from the home screen
- IE relies on the hardware back button and you can lose your navigation history if you leave IE, go back in and try to navigate back.
I think most WP7 users will know what I'm talking about.
My question is - do people think the Mango update with multitasking will solve this? I can't see enough detail in the online demos to be sure, but I would hope that it does get around these issues.
I'm sure that with Mango's fast app switcher (the new tap-and-hold back button) you will have much more flexibility than today.
But, I'm not sure what you mean by "you lose your navigation history" in IE. Even if I back out of IE, when I go back in, tap the favorites icon, and flick to the History pivot, I still see all of the pages I visited in the list. Maybe I am doing something different, or else I am misunderstanding your problem.
i think he meant...
1: go browse using ie, and visit several pages by following links
2: press windows key to go back to homescreen
3: launch ie again (through its tile, not the back button)
4: history gone. you'll be back to the last page you were visiting, but that's it. if you press the back button, it'll take you out of ie and into the homescreen.
this annoys me as well.
Website A,
click link to B,
check emails,
return to IE (via back button),
on website B,
want to go back to A: not possible via back button
It is unintuitive to open favorites(!) then change to history only to go one site backwards.
Yep that's the scenario exactly.
I checked what Android does because it has a very similar setup of a hardware back button. However, they get it right and the solution is very simple.
On Android when you go back into the browser, the hardware back button takes you back through browser history until there is no more history. Then the next press takes you back in the application screen history. I only tried it quickly but it seems to solve the problem that WP7 exhibits.
I think the only foolproof option is like iOS where the back button is onscreen and part of the application. The downside is that it clutters up the display a lot. When I use an iPhone now the actual screen space for the application seems very small.

That's changing in Mango. Developers will be able to allow users to pin pages in their app to the home screen not just the app itself.
The example shown at MIX11 was that if we create a News app which has a world news page, a country specific news page and a financial page (for example); the user could then pin the financial page to the start screen.
There is no limit on the amount of tiles per app, so the user could chose to pin all three pages to their start screen. Clicking on any of these tiles would take them straight to the page of interest not the main page.
Of course, this requires app developers to implement the new tiles in their app (but it's not difficult).

That is interesting, although you're talking more about linking within an app, where sometimes the issue is more about remembering state i.e. reloading an app and it being back on the page you were on.
To be fair, support for this on iOS is patchy, some apps do it and some don't. And the MS guidelines specifically say that the app must restart from home when loaded from a tile. I wonder if this was in preparation for the multitasking features, although I will still like to be able to use a tile to launch an already-running (tombstoned) app and have it take me back to where I was when I left it. From what I've seen of Android, it does this.
Not sure what everyone is complaining about the back button and IE since it's actually pretty consistent with desktop browser experience. When you close your browser and open it up again, you don't get to press back.

that's the point. in your phone you don't close your brower (by pressing back back until you're at the homescreen, you just press the middle button to pull up the home screen). in my desktop I can have 10 browers open, and still open my e-mail without disturbing my browers.

Do I remember correctly that tabbed browsing is coming with IE9/Mango, and said tabs will be in the multitasking screen? I guess it could very well start working more like you described?
We will see in 2 days hopefully.

That's interesting actually if they do that I can see it helping. Proving that when returning to a browser page, you can still use the back button to work the browser rather than just jumping back to where you were before.
If they're gonna carry on with the back button doing special stuff in the browser, they need to implement the Android trick of the back button going back through browser history until the start, then going back through application screen history.

Disappearing keyboard still not fixed?

Hey guys,
I'm running a Lumia 800 with the 8107 OS so I thought the disappearing Keyboard issue should have been fixed. However sometimes, when I write a mail or message it happens that the Keyboard still vanishes. I was not able to reproduce the Problem in parts. Could you please try the following and tell me what happens:
1. Go to the Home Screen
2. Open either an app from the home Screen or from the programs list
3. As soon as the Programm Shows the loading Screen hit the search button
4. Tap on the search box and wait
5. The Keyboard should now dissapear after a few seconds
This works best with Applications that take some time to load, like Facebook or Board Express. Instead of opening the Search App you can go into every app that opens the keyboard. I also guess that Network related callbacks are responsible for the dissapearing keyboard. You can try the following as well:
1. Open the Facebook App
2. Wait for it to load and Display the recent items
3. Hit "..." and "Refresh"
4. Tap the Search Button and open the Keyboard
5. After a few seconds the Keyboard disappears.
It would be great if some of you guys could try to reproduce this problem.
Regards
Chris

The keyboard isn't disappearing in that case, the app is loading, and you're intentionally trying to type before it's fully loaded to get this behavior. The disappearing keyboard issue would occur MID SENTENCE while typing something as simple as a text after the message had already loaded. What you're doing is intentional and happens everywhere.

Well, this are only two Scenarios where the Keyboard dissapears. However sometimes while composing a longer message for instance, it goes away. And I don't think this behavior is intended. Imagine you're in an area with bad coverage and hit refresh. This refresh can take around 20 or 30 seconds so you decide to write a text. Halfway in the text, the Keyboard will disappear while you are writing. At least that occurs on my device.

I'm not sure what to tell you then. I know that the disappearing keyboard was solved for me. It's pretty much a given that on any device, because this used to happen to me on Android and WinMo, that refreshing incoming data will cause your typing indicator to disappear once the data has completely loaded. You can try this on Internet Explorer on your computer. It might be a hassle, but that occured before Mango's keyboard issue. As far as typing a long message, I've typed 10 page texts and haven't had the keyboard disappear once. When I had the disappearing keyboard, it would disappear every 3-4 words, sometimes quicker, and was quite annoying.
i think its not an internet related problem, it is caused by ram issues...if i play with angry birds with dehydration hack, then i switch to an incoming message and quickly reply, the keyboard disappears after 2 sec...lg o7, sorry for bad english..
Updated to 8107 last week and haven't seen the disappearing keyboard since. I call fail on this thread.
Haven't had any issues with disappearing keyboard since 8107, although it was frequent prior.
for some reason, it took two updates for my keyboard to stay. I did an update last week...and for whatever reason, i had another update last night, which appeared to be the same one I did earlier that week...don't know why.
but since, i've had no keyboard issues.
I second the one who said this thread is fail.
The method you gave is a way to force the page to refresh, so as soon as the page (or in this case the app or Bing search) loads with the keyboard, the background agents from the opened app causes the page you are in to refresh as well, thus the keyboard disappears.
The incident before, is when you are already typing a message for 10 seconds or so, then the keyboard will suddenly disappear for no apparent reason. In some occasions, it disappears again when you type on the message box as if the keyboard is doing a "double take" disappearing action = annoying.
That's exactly what I said. He's purposely trying to type while data/agents/pieces of the app are still loading or refreshing. Obviously the keyboard is going to disappear once its done. Go to a website on the phone, and start typing in a text box before it fully loads. Once it fully loads, it'll disappear. This is common knowledge and happens on every platform I've ever used...
Thanks for pointing up that this is intended. I thought it would be odd if an app in the Background could hide the Keyboard in a completely diffrent active app. But it seems as this behaviour is a Feature and not a bug.

Scrolling freeze on chrome

Open a website, start scrolling and suddenly it won't move. Pull down the notification bar slightly and I can continue to scroll again. Probably a 120hz setting compatibility issue but curious if anyone else has this problem too?
Sent from my S20 Ultra
Seen that too but also in Play app

Have it too. Seems like I either wait an undetermined time for it to unfreeze or pull down the notification bar to unfreeze it.
Well, glad I'm not the only one, although it's really annoying when it happens.
Sent from my S20 Ultra
Mine also does that many times but that's more like the chrome's problem since the phone itself runs smoothly in every other app.
I believe I'm getting the same issue in other apps as well. I'll be scrolling, but if I press the home or back button on the navigation bar, it will lock up for like 20 seconds before something crashes. The common error is that System UI has stopped responding. Been having this issue, and quite frankly, it's making me want to give iPhones a try again...
That's not all. It opens some sites for a very long time 1-2 minutes, while in the same time as a Samsung Browser it opens in 5-10 seconds. It is very strange.
I use Brave rather than Chrome but get it here as well. Only in Brave though. I normally swipe back to home screen and go back in to unfreeze it.

Question Odd scrolling behavior

Unsure if anyone is experiencing this issue or it is just my thumb.
When I am holding the phone in my right hand scrolling down the screen with my thumb reading or moving through an app, i will get a too frequent misfire that bounces me back to the top of article or app screen.
My thumb motions are downward. However, the screen is obviously interpreting I am flipping upward.
Is there a setting that might change this? I do not have increased screen sensitivity turned on. Is there an elasticity setting that may be causing this?
Curved screen can still register palm touches just holding the P6P.
same issue
I use one finger to turn the page and my palm is not touching any screen edge
some apps are causing weird scrolling issues. the reddit and twitter apps (can be) problematic right now. I've seen at least 4 cases where removing those apps completely and using alternatives (like Relay and Albatross) has resolved issus. so it could be it...what app are you having an issue with? try chrome in safe mode , see how the scrolling is (safe mode only works with google apps, and it turns off network so turn it on if you do try it)

Thanks for the insight. Reuters News app, Brave Browser, NYT app, pretty much any app when scrolling down reading.

any changes in safe mode? only google apps work on that mode but worth a try
Honestly, I don't see how to get into safe mode on the P6P.
I can get to the menu w/ power button + volume down. What am I missing? It's been a while.

the power menu can be brought up in the notifications menu (Swipe down twice, you'll see the power icon). from there just long-press on the "Restart" button.
Thank you!
As you mentioned, in safe mode I can't try any of the apps where I experienced the issue.
