Try the following and see if it helps:
Make sure the phone is up to date on the firmware in case if there is/was any updates (and fixes).
Check your settings in the camera app
Make sure that your front facing camera isn't covered or dirty. If the camera lens has smudges, something covering it or scratches on it this can impact the picture quality.
If you want to rule out software issues (try the other suggestions first as a time saver) try a Factory Data Reset. You may need to set up everything again, but this will help resolve any software issues.

camera issue

Hi i have a problem with my note 2 the camera will not focus i have tried every setting. When this problem occurred I was on cyanogenmod. I tried to fix it and reverted back to stock Android, I made a backup on clockwork mod. After doing this it still did not solve the problem so I did a factory reset. This did not help. Please I need help. If I put the camera up close to something the picture quality is fine but from far away it is blurry the camera cannot focus is this a hardware issue, I did not drop my phone or a anything of the sorts thank you

The factory TW camera software has a macro mode setting in it. Ensure that it is not set in macro mode.

Check out the below article, explains the functions and features.
What is it you're trying to do exactly and what happens?
http://www.htc.com/uk/support/htc-one-m8/howto/473767.html
Actually it is just saying that "duo effects is unavailable for this image"
For every image I take.
I know what are the procedure to take photos for duo effects so thr is no problem in that.
Duo effects are not compatible with manual camera settings. Its likely that you changed some minor & inconspicuous thing that's preventing you from applying duo effects.
Try the following:
- Clear the camera app settings.
- Make sure you don't change any setting, not even the flash.
- Make sure your fingers aren't blocking the depth sensor, and that its clean from greese (a simple wipe will do)
- Test drive the camera and the gallery for duo effects.
Cheers

Ya I did everything said above but it's not working.
I guess it's a hardware problem :crying:
Download an app called HTC Guide. It has diagnostics and other features. Might help figure it out.
Some pictures I've taken say the same thing. Not sure what causes it.

We're still not ruling out the software side. So, next step: clear data + cache for Gallery, since its responsible for using the depth sensor data to apply effects. Then, when that fails, you still have the tedious task of hard resetting. Then its either a bad rom flash or hardware fault

What about resetting the camera app settings to default?
The option is on the settings menu when in the camera app itself. Do that then just open the camera and take a normal photo without changing any settings and try editing it from the gallery app.
These options need to be set so that duo effects can be used:
Scene Auto
Flash Off
Filters None
Aspect ratio Wide 16:9
Zooming Zoom slider should be at the minimum zoom level.
Continuous shooting Not supported

you're not alone,i too am having this problem after updating the gallery app from the play store..If I take photos i get the duo effects unavailable for this image..If I roll back the gallery update to default by uninstalling the updates i can add the effects to the picture i took so the duo sensor is working..But when I install the updates back to the gallery app no new photos can work with duo effects..
Did you get this resolved? If so,how?
Fixed mine.

I got mine fixed just now. I had done everything previously as suggested without luck.
I had to go in to setup then apps then the gallery. I cleared cache and uninstalled updates. My gut feeling is that it was a gallery update that broke it.
Good luck,
Scott

Well yeah that works but you're missing out on any of the latest features and rolled your gallery back to stock from March or April. There have been features added between then and now.. Such as the slider for uFocus

You're right. I'm new to this phone from the M7. I just switched carriers. I re-installed the gallery update and the Duo functions still work. I'm not sure what happened to my phone before then but it seems good now.
It's only a little over a week old.

It'll work on pictures already taken after the update.. But try a new picture and see what you get when trying a duo effect

Camera unable to focus - Sultanxda's rom

as the title says, recently when I open my camera app, the rear camera is unable to focus no matter what I do, the same happens with snapchat and other camera apps. I was wondering if this is an issue within the rom or if its a general OP3 issue and if anyone could help me attempt to fix it.
I'm on SultanXda's rom with the 19th of Feb patch. (would post this on the rom's page but my account is too new to reply on that)
Thanks in advance
Even I have this kind of issue and I am using resurrection reimx ROM. The camera is not focusing. Neither in the camera app nor in the apps like snapchat.
Hope someone has a solution for this.

really hope so, bit troubled at the moment since I can't take any photos
Just tried with rom-delieverd-snapcamera, and the focus is just working fine.
Just touch the screen, where to focus and snap.
Maybe you can give us some hint to reproduce?

sadly touch focus isnt working on my phone, starting to think it might be a hardware issue instead since it just suddenly started happening. I'm not too sure what is different from when it was working either :/ just that one day touch focus stopped working and auto focus stopped as well.
So you can wait for an update, or any other reported issues with focus on sultans rom oder you might try another rom, if it still exists, to make sure, its not a HW issue.
Ehy guyz, it is an hardware problem. U can fix it opening the phone and using some scotch to maintain in place the camera. Or send it in RMA. Or use a magnet near the camera, out of the phone's case as is possible to see in attached photo

Can a decent camera port fix the OP5T camera?

My question is in the title. I mean since the hardware is not that bad. Is it possible that a decent port of a camera application that will do a better job in the processing of the images clicked be available and possible?
Yes, it did for the op5 so surely it would do the same for 5t
Yes and no, it depends on if OnePlus fixed the issues with their camera HAL.
On the OP5, the HDR+ is causing a dot pattern in light areas which basically ruins the photos.
Also it has issues with touch focus.
This thread might help

who can verify if this has been fixed?
edit: can the user in the "ask away" thread find out somehow if something has been changed or fixed?
edit 2 (face palm): it should all be answered in the above link as soon as someone follows thru with the required testing.

I'm assuming since we have a change in hardware someone can come up a decent port that will take advantage of the second 20mp cam to improve upon low light more than what OP have already done.

Camera make bad photo

Hi guys, I bought a Xperia XA2 and is a great device, except for one thing, or the camera, which has problems focusing. Let me explain: when I take pictures with the main camera before shooting the picture seems to focus and presents all the details, while when I go to see the camera taken this is blurred or not perfectly focused. I also tried with the camera manual but nothing changes, and yes, I also tried to put the object to be photographed to more (well over) 12 cm, but nothing. I also took the phone to assistance where I changed the camera but the problem persists. In the end I tried another camera app that seems to have solved the problem, but at the cost of taking pictures in 8mpx. The question then is: how can I resolve this error? And if I can not, which camera app would you recommend? Thank you so much in advance to those who will answer
Send it to the Sony service point to repair.
I've alredy done It but whitout results
May I ask which camera apps did you use?
