7.1.2 will work fine with front and rear potrait and video recording too.
The version which is most stable and i use is "GcamMod5 from arnova v1.6"
And rom i use is lineageos official
Smooth best in performance too!
Rom is your choice but 7.1.2 based roms are best for modded gcam!
Did you flashed any fix to enable HAL 3 Or just directly flashed the GCAM ?

I don't know about magisk module fix
But i do it like this:
1. Install the app from playstore called "build.prop editor"
2. Give root access to the app
3. Tap edit icon. Go to the last line and add without quotes "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1"
4. Save it and reboot. Done.
I'm sure that module of magisk must contain this line and add it to the correct file
So what i said is manually enabling it.
Flashing that module will reduce your work!

add this code to ur build prop file usin a root file explorer like es and reboot :-
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
or search for camera 2 api magisk module on google and flash it
and for ROM I'd suggest viper os v3.1.1 Android v7.1.2
most stable and customizable rom available for our land in my view ?
Use viper os 7.1.2 aroma best rom .
TBH I think GCAM performance in 7.1.2 better than 8.1

(For Q)
Mod 1
@tarkzim has released LineageOS 17 for our Mi Max and i have tried a lot of gcam 7 versions. But all of them are force stopping. So after so many tries i found a gcam 7 which is working fine in this phone
Link to Gcam 7:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_4.0.191101.0729build-7.0.009_x9_s9s_mod_0.42.apk
It's not stable and does frees the phone sometimes, but when it works it works fine. I Haven't tried astrophotography
Mod 2
I got another gcam 7 which is working great in mi max.
I tested/used it in android q only till now. So i don't know about android pie.
Link:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/SimpleCam_v7c.apk
Mostly everything is working except slow-motion, astrophotography (i think astrophotography is a long shot for our device to work on)
(For Pie)
Hey, Everyone
Recently I was searching for a Google Camera Mod, and I have tried a few. But when some lacked quality others lacked new features, advance settings. And somehow I came across this Google Camera.. ( It's almost stable and it works great )
And all the credit goes to the developer of this mod.
I'm just sharing their app to you guys
Slow motion doesn't work ??
HDR,Night sight,time lapse all works

Some photos taken with this Gcam

Mod 2 : this mod of Gcam works awesome + more stable, with some bugs obviously,
The HDR works even better

I didn't change too much settings..
I increased HDR strength, saturation,
and enabled raw, night sight suggestion, lens clean suggestion.
And some minor changes. It's still not perfectly stable.
But I have a note 5 pro and this gcam works perfectly and the pictures are incredible
thanks i will try
edit:- check this gcam

1, Unlock your bootloader
2, Root your phone
3, Install camera2api
That's it.
I'm sure someone must have made a video on this topic.search on YouTube.
Oh and my device is mi max 1 so the company didn't release miui11 for this device. So i cant test it by my self

Of course I did the points 1 and 2 already.
In Android 9 I just had to flash a zip to enable camera2 api. But in Android 10 it's not working.
What do you mean with install camera2 api. In my understanding it is implemented in Android and has to be enabled in the build.prop. I did it with the flashing.
Still noone with experience in Android 10?

If the method with magisk is not working... Add the camera 2 api command to your build.Prop manually.
I did the same this with my MiA2 running stock os.
Now it works amazing

I tried this as well.
Which lines did you add, or which lines did you alter?
I think the problem is Android 10, in the previous version it was no problem.

Also if your gcam is force closing check if it's the issue of the apk or cam2api via Manuel camera compatibility.
If that didn't help
Check if you have this line in your build prop
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=0
If you do change the "=0" to "=1"
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
Activate Camera2API on Mi MAX 3 with Android 10 Q and MIUI 11?

Did you successfully activate Camera2API on Mi MAX 3 with Android 10 Q and MIUI 11?
Also keep waiting somehow because even used a module for Magisk 20.2 channel Canary but even this version still works on Android 10 Q.

As I wrote, I tried that solution, but to no avail.
There must be another way for Android 10.
BEST GCAMv7 FOR MI MAX
I tried all the suggested version none of them were stable. Some crashed, some rebooted the device, some had issues with video and almost every gcamv7 was not even opening. I was using DMGC gcam on my MiA2. I randomly tested it on my Helium and it worked flawlessly ! Even astrophotography is working ! It's not that great but it works ! Some ISO issue with video but when you keep the frame rate to auto. It fixes. I even supported the developer for such a masterpiece I am so pleased ! Thanks Dmitry Garvilo aka the_dise.
Just download it!
DMGC_7.3.020_ver.4.1.apk
tested on PixelExperiencePlus 9.0 20200115
I am using Jio in india and after flashing a custom ROM the native video call via volte is now not working. I used another one which is pixel experience but the problem was still there. Currently I'm using pixel experience pie 9.0, and one more thing is that i have enable camera2api but all google camera (whyred supported version) start crashing just after launch...
will be thankful for the help.
*reboot many time but does not fix. *
same problem ....

I recently purchased the ZE601KL.
What CUSTOMROM can I use for this model?
I looked it up and found that I can install up to Android 10 with LineageOS.
However, I cannot hear sound from the speakers, do I need to install a patch?
Can I use CUSTOMROM for the 5 inch one?
Please teach me m(_ _)m

I am posting this using a translation.
Wording may be incorrect.
My apologies.
I am still in the process of installing CUSTOMROM from this.
Android 9 is installed.
I had to use the modified file because the sound is not coming from the speaker.
I was able to install Android 10 ROM, but no sound.
Is there any chance to get excited about Android 11 or Android 10 ROMs for this model anymore?
Please give up ……
