YouTube Vanced 2160p60HDR playback is very stuttery with too many frame drops - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

https://drive.google.com/file/d/10lGieXYspI_xzBzyoDSYgJh0yomdLpVU/view?usp=drivesdk
Check the stats for nerds near the end of the screen recording for details. 1440p60HDR and below resolutions work perfectly fine both in stretched out and normal modes but as soon as 2160p60HDR is turned on, video frames start to drop and the playback becomes very laggy/stuttery. I'm using the default codec in 'codec override'. I've tried pixel and samsung codecs but the res. is limited to 1080p max. Is there any workaround for 4k60 or do I have to live with 1440p?

why would you need 2k60 and 4k60 video playback ?

4k60 by itself is really heavy. Even my PC with 1050Ti cant handle them

I have a 1050Ti too and my ****ty A10 7890k has literally zero problems running 8k60 (yes you heard it correctly - "8k60") without any O.C. It's not that my n8pro can't play 4k60 at all, there is definitely a bug or something which is keeping it from delivering adequate frames at appropriate frame times. So as per my analysis, the first few frames (~150-250 frames) are rendered at buttery smooth 60fps (which is only like 2-4 secs) but the rest 500-800 frames are very stuttery. I wanna know why this happens.

Slow Motion Video Recording?

It almost seems to me it would be shared as full speed, and you can simply slow it down in the LG gallery. Is this true? I uploaded a video to YouTube and it was full speed.

It captures 120 frames per second, meaning you have 4 times more frames than regular 30fps. You should upload it to your computer and then edit it. YouTube will play the video in regular 30fps because that is the normal. btw the 120fps leaves the picture quality pretty useless :/

Bummer. So slow motion is pretty much useless on this phone?

Well, no not at all. I think that you need to read about FPS and video recording in general. It takes the slow motion pictures, but if you uploaded it to youtube it will NOT play in 120fps because YT does not support that and it would be amazingly slow (also big filesize).
Use a editing software to select the parts you want to be in slow motion, and if you want the whole video to be in slow motion you need to convert the 120fps to 30fps but stretch it. If you know what i mean.

Yeah I do, I think it's just more or less a bummer that I'd have to edit it on a computer to get the full effect.
Unless you can do the same thing with a mobile video editing app.

I would think that you can use a mobile app to do that, let me check if i can find anything for you.
Edit: sorry i cant find any solution in Google play either. I guess you have to use a pc.

So I've heard, but i guess you have to manually activate that setting while uploading, and wont surprise me if you cant do so from a mobile device.
It's the image quality that renders the slow motion useless.. it looks as bad as if they used quarter of the pixels for each frame, and blew it up, then do that 4 times each 30th of a second. I don't think even my Treo 650 videos were that pixelated.

S9 and Netflix low resolution problem

I cant get Netflix app to play videos with higher resolution than 720p and 30 FPS. The S9 has hardware capability to show 1440p and 60FPS, but Netflix seems to limit this to low resolution.
Any fix for this?
I have tried it on out superfast Wi-Fi and superfast LTE, no difference.
You can check this with Netflix own "Test Pattern" videos. Actual FPS and Resolution is shown in upper right corner when you zoom out to original video size.

No root. Actually have the same problem on my Tab S4.
But we get full 4K and 60 FPS on our Samsung TV built in app, and also our Nvidia Shield TV.

I believe resolution is limited by your Netflix subscription, if you only paid for 720p then that's the max res you can watch with

App limitation apparently, this one might get you 1080p
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/netflix-5-3-1-build-19296-release/
all versions up to 5.3.1 operate at 1080p and a bitrate of 5800kbps which is the highest quality possible on smartphones.

I tested this method today, it works! So it is indeed app limitation NOT subscription. Tested it on my s9 and girfriends s9+, both worked. However, getting to 720p resolution on the newer versions is much faster than getting to 720p or 1080p on this older version. So maybe locking to 720p is the effect of some network and streaming optimizations.
Had to go older to get mine working

I tried 5.3.1 but it immediately prompted me to update to continue. So I used 4.12.2 and my content was watchable again. I’m on an S9 with Pie.

Not much to show from a screenshot since neither MX Player nor VLC show real-time stats like the PC version of those apps. I just went to jell.yfish.us and grabbed one of their test bitrate files. I haven't monitored the CPU temps though, not sure how long it'll stay within spec.
Any suggestions on an Android player app that displays all that in real-time?
If you don't mind oversharpening on media content then get this phone.
btw. Does anybody know a fix for that?

[Magisk][Module] Hevc Recording Enabler v0.1 for ZUK Z2 Plus

Hey everyone i don't own the device but @deathbreath2010 wanted to enable HEVC for this device so i made a magisk module for everyone to try
This module enable HEVC/H265 video recording on ZUK Z2 Plus
The bitrate values are the same as original and also half
the aac bitrate values are untouched
Why should I use HEVC instead of H264?
Basically, HEVC provide the same quality as H264, but using half the bitrate, this means that you can record videos with the same quality but using less space, or, if you're more inclined to that, record video that use the same space but with better quality (less compression, therefore less artifacts and more details overall).
Stock Bitrate changelog:
Code:
v0.1
- Initial release
Half Bitrate changelog:

On ZUK Z2 there is also a problem with slow motion in google camera. It only works sometimes and is quite dark compared to normal video. I don't know if this is also related to media_profiles. On Oneplus 3 slow motion in Gcam was fixed, but i don't know how they did this. Do you have any idea?
Cheers

Yes i think slow motion requires low iso or shutter speed to work so it gets dark for everyone in slow motion. i havent really found a slowmo fix that works for oneplus 3 yet and i dont think its working for anyone if you know one that works for oneplus 3 i can try to make it work for zuk z2 plus.

In your other thread about hevc someone posted a zip and said that slow mo is working for him in Android 10 i he replaces some libs. But I don't know if this is good advice. I rarely use slow mo, but it is nice to have anyway.

Can we enable 60 FPS Video Recording on M51?

Hi All,
Can we enable 60 FPS Video Recording on M51?
It is just so infuriating that Samsung disabled the 60 FPS Video Recording on this phone, it is just incredible...
We have super slow motion, but we don't have 60 FPS Video Recording....
Please let me know if there are any option to enable this.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Vlad
There are phones that can record 1080p 240 fps with same sensor. Encoder supports up to 127 fps in 1080p, so I don't think we can simply add a media profile and fix this. I couldn't find anything about 1080p slow motion or just 60 fps in samsung's camera app but there were some methods to check super slow motion's maximum time, probably for 960 fps fake slow motion. Samsung's camera app has a hidden camera api key to check available samsung features in the device but I don't remember anything about slow-mo. There were hdr10 support, something about 64 mp stream and a few useless samsung stuff. I think we need to modify camera libs for 60 fps.
If you are rooted you can, just search for galaxy a71 60fps (same hardware as m51)
have u try open camera app? 240 fps... not perfect but
Provideo works but 60fps mode has stuttering issues.

M51? Did you enabled through camera-features.xml? Or sam thrid party app?
Make shure video stabilization is disabled for 60FPS
Through camera-features.xml. 24fps and 60fps causes stuttering.
I can try with your camera-features.xml too if you can upload here.

I'll check media profiles too and let you know if i get any progress.
So here i am attaching media profiles and a moddified mixer path that give stereo sound from a A71 same SoC

A camera that can take ultra slow-motion should at least take 60fps videos. I'm suspecting that Samsung disabled it in driver level.

Thats quite sad but you can try 120fps like on the A50 mod that not supporting 24 and 60.
About the sound mod is playing from both speakers? They are sync? Because on the a71 i need to moddify Acdb files to put with sync

It's only playing from the call speaker, not the loud one. A50 mod works only on previewing but still stutters while recording.
I'll compare A71 & M51 devices trees in an empty day.
