Any one got this app working ? (Im on the latest update . Nov)
Hello,
Do you have Magisk systemless hosts module activated? If not, In Magisk settings, if you scrolled down, you'll find it. Tap on it once and reboot your device. From there, open Adaway and update your hosts file. Done...
Not sure why, but I often find I have to apply hosts twice in Adaway... ?
Good luck...
Sébastien.
Also, don't forget to use the newest AdAway that supports systemless hosts.
I've got it working on my 3XL.

I've waited to root my OnePlus 3 since I'm a Pokemon GO player and the root block rolled out before I got my OP3.
I finally decided to give Magisk a go but I ran in to some trouble. The install went smooth and without a problem, but I noticed that all versions of packages I had where newer then in the tutorials (which I thought was no problem). Once Magisk v7 was flashed, Magisk Manager v2 and AutoMagisk v1.1 were installed (with phh's SuperUser flashed and the app installed), I tried to launch Pokemon GO and it failed to log me in (also didn't get an AutoMagisk notification). I tried on my previous device and it still worked and since I couldn't find the root toggle in the new Manager app, I flashed the uninstall package and uninstalled the apps which made Pokemon GO work again.
I thought it would be best to try it with the previous versions of the Magisk tools (the ones mentioned in the tutorials) but I couldn't find any links to downloads.
Has anyone tried the "Magisk v7, Manager v2, Auto v1.1" combo or can anyone hook me up with the files that are mentioned in the tutorials?

Hi,
Here you can find a thread for Pogo + Magisk.
According to the magisk's dev, you can't play Pogo with v7 :
Safety Net
My decision to remove root management from Magisk seems to cause some debate. People might wonder why I would remove such feature that made Magisk so popular. Well, I have to emphasize again, Magisk is never meant for bypassing Safety Net. The Xposed and root bypasses are some fun projects that I'm messing with what Magisk is capable of. One of the two main reasons I dropped this feature in Magisk is
1. Xposed is no longer working with Safety Net enabled. I had tried to bypass it with some mounting tricks and process killing, but all of those are not able to fix the issue. Soon suhide is available and it is able to bypass Xposed had made me really frustrated, as I do not want to keep working on a "not complete solution".
2. On the open source side, phh is also developing his own "suhide". phh just released a test build for hiding root (link to his test build), I'm gonna take a look and include it into the Magisk version of phh root.
These two methods are much better than the one I was using. It doesn't need a toggle, it is per app basis, and many more. Also, I'm not creating a root solution, I'm creating an interface that root solutions can rely on. So I decide to give the hiding root "responsibility" to the root solutions, not managed by the interface, Magisk, itself.
Just to let all of you know, one of Magisk Manager's future feature will be a GUI to manage these two root hiding solutions. It will need some time to develop, and I also wanted to do some things in the core Magisk side to add this support natively. So please don't be pissed that I dropped the whole root management thing. It is for a bigger plan

If you want just root and Pogo, why did you not try SU systemless and suhide ?

I just installed a clean install of the April update following which I installed TWRP, ElementalX, and Magisk 16. Previously on the March update, I would enable systemless hosts in Magisk and I would then go to Adaway and check the settings to see the enable systemless mode box checked and grayed out. After the April update, when I do the same steps, The checkbox is empty and the option is grayed out. I have tried reinstalling Adaway, reinstalling magisk, and reinstalling the April update but none of these have fixed the issue. Is there a way to fix this?

That's kind of my question. If you mean does it block ads, it works perfectly fine. I don't know if the systemless aspect of it is working. I checked /magisk/.core/hosts and it was edited but I just want to be sure there's no errors with it

Your good then. Read about that the other day from another user that said not to worry about the check box not being checked, and that as long as the thing was greyed out, systemless mode is working fine :good:
Hey, so managed to root my Razer and wanted to get an adblocker. What's the best one out and how to install it? Coz I can't see anything in Magisk
I installed adaway 3.3 search Google and in magisk select settings then enable systemless host
Adguard is awesome but it's not free.
Wanted to do the old hotspot trick (net.tethering.noprovisioning=true) but the build prop won't save. Any ideas?
Also trying to load adaway in data/hosts and data/data/host fail.
But magisk modules will install and work.
Search on XDA for Tethering Enabler for Magisk. It's working for me not sure about Adaway.

Regarding adaway, make sure you set "systemless hosts" mode in Magisk settings. Not sure of the exact name of the setting at the moment as I do not currently have Magisk installed...
I wasn't able to get /system rw which limited options on enabling tether.
Adjusting magisk for systemless hosts worked fine for me but I was never able to get tethering working on q. I went back to 9 until things smooth out a bit.

Huh. I'll have to keep it in mind if I try to re enable tether after an OTA. I managed to find a guide that worked by setting it in terminal.

Oddly enough I couldnt get any of that to work. Until I installed busy box and installed the system less host module via magisk.

As for tethering I got it working cherry! I can't find the exact guide I found but this is the same. Had to install busy box and whatnot but, it worked. Found this guide on XDA but this link has the same steps. Be warned though, 4 isn't "add new/custom", for me, I had to press 5 not 4. https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to-enable-native-tethering-on-rooted-pixel-3-3xl/
Not sure what tether_dun_required 0 does. But it worked like a charm and persists after reboot now.
Thanks everybody, got it all working now. Couldn't have done it without ya!
What is the name of the system less magisk module you installed so I use the right one.

Click the systemless option in the Magisk settings. It will install the correct module for you.
I did that is just causes a pop up that says added systemless host module. Adaway still gives me a syslink error?

You need to reboot after that and then enable Adaway.

This worked perfectly. Adaway is my favorite piece of software. Thank you. I had also installed busybox, based on an earlier comment. Not sure if that was necessary.
Hello everyone, after a long time of not being able to figure out on how to make the McDonalds app work on a magisk rooted phone with twrp + custom rom. I finally managed to do it.
I want to share my method with you, hopefully it will work for everyone.
At first, install the McDonalds app (If not already done).
1. Install app manager from play store
2. Force stop + clear cache
3. In magisk, enable magiskhide and follow the steps.
4. In the new magisk app. Select Systemless hosts
5. Also, enable denylist and add McDonalds to it.
6. Install Universal Safetynet Fix by kdrag0n from github.
7. After installing, the apps should work.
Good luck!
which version of magisk?
I don't know exactly, I am using the latest version. Should work on most versions that includes MagiskHide

Open magisk and it will shiw you what version you have
I'm using 25.2
can you show screen shot of your magisk and the magisk hide function, it is not in mine. i usually use magisk delta which does have magisk hide in it
Or just use the browser when ordering.
It still doesn't work I think they detect an unlocked bootloader even if you don't have root
I saw a module in Lposed that blocks root in the macdonalds app.

Hey, thanks for the "tutorial"! Kinda surprised that it works even on banking apps or it could be another thing that i tried before.
Edit: I think that you need LSPosed + Hide My Applist for the banking apps
