[Q]Dual Band Wi-Fi in stock MIUI Global Rom - Xiaomi Redmi 7 Questions & Answers

The snapdragon 632 chip supports dual band, yet redmi 7’s spec does cite it. On the other hand, the official Q/A for redmi 7 on c.mi.com quotes it supports WiFi a/c - dual band.
I’d like to know from an owner, it does or doesn’t support it (on stock rom, I have no intention of unlocking BL so far)

Just released Mi mix 2s LTE bands??

Hello, I heard a rumour to use the new mi mix 2s in the USA you need to buy the 8gb ram/256 model?
Anyone know if that is true. I would prefer to use the lower versions of the mi mix 2s on T-Mobile in the USA but worried it won't work.

I doubt that's true. The bands are the same and the Mix2 works on both gsm and cdma (Verizon) lte. Since the new T-Mobile bands (band 60?) aren't widely deployed, I don't think you'll have a problem.

You should be fine...like the post above stated, the main T-Mobile frequencies are present. However, you will be missing band 66 and 71, the latter of which is becoming more and more important (the state of Wyoming, for instance, is almost exclusively band 71 on T-Mobile). Unfortunately it may take a while for Xiaomi or similar phones to support band 71 as it's been really slow in getting manufacturers to adopt this band, excepting Samsung, LG, and Moto. But in any case, all variants of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S do have the vast majority of T-Mobile's network covered vis-a-vis LTE banding.
It looks like all global versions of the Mi Mix 2S are compatible with T-Mobile LTE. But only the 256GB version of the Mi Mix 2S is compatible with Verizon. So if you're only worried about T-Mobile you should be fine.
I'm also in the same doubt..
Here in France we get the new b28 lte band, which is perfectly supported in the mi mix 2 whatever version, but in the 2s, it seems to be only supported on the 256 go/international version which is very very expensive!
But on some merchant (gearbest, aliexpress, etc...) the description of 64go global version say b28 lte band compatible...
Both 256go and 64go get the same cpu, snapdragon 845, and then the same lte modem...
So is there a chance to get a 64go global version compatible with this lte band, or could it possible to unlock the missing band with some tweaks???

Which model to buy from OnePlus

T-Mobile user want to buy direct from OnePlus. Which model number to buy. And will it have unlocked boot loader for future rooting.
TIA
I bought directly from OnePlus. You should get HD65AA.
If I remember correctly, the website uses your IP Address location to only show you what will work for your region. I'm on T-Mobile and have a global phone. You can unlock the bootloader without having to request an unlock token. I would recommend unlocking the bootloader before activation to be safe though.
I too am a US T-Mobile customer. I bought mine directly from One Plus a few days after release. You want the North American Model, which is HD1905. This will support T-Mobile's band 71 as well as band 12. The other poster would have you buy the International/Canada version which supports band 12, but does not support band 71. Personally, I'd be very upset if I had a brand new phone for T-Mobile in 2020 which did not support Band 71. Please, do not take my word for it, do your own research. Compare the band plan for model HD65AA versus HD1905. I can absolutely confirm my HD1905 supports band 71.
You can unlock the bootloader, but why? What would you gain? Without a working TWRP, their really are not very many custom ROMs available. I have been quite content with running the device generally as it is. Good luck and have fun...
You're right. I have the HD1905 with the HD65AA Rom. Good call

I made the mistake getting the US TMo - dud not know that generic ones also had their newer frequencies. I am going to get an 8 Pro, it is just coming out and there are more things going on with it then with my Mclearan 5G.
PS - 1st air cav? - old big red one here.

Galaxy S20+ SM G986N

Hello to all,
i recently bought the Galaxy S20+ G986N, mine is a korean version!
Now I accidentally read that the 3G/4G and 5G networks are limited! --> I did not know before!
Is it possible to unlock the networks?
Thanks in advance and regards
Daniel
PS:
Is it possible to unlock the Dual Sim version here? Since this is a SingleSim!
Allegedly yes if you bought the phone sans mobile network, pop you sim inside and talk to someone for 10 minutes, on your local network that is, it should reset to a "domestic" flavor of networks... it can be checked via the secret menu *#60# or something like that (google is your friend if not), dough snapdragon has no issue whatsoever with working on any network, the network locked ones and usa specific ones are a different thing, - even those can be made to work.
I was not aware any of the s10 and s20 series come with just a single sim as one slot can be used for sdcard and a sim... Give it a shot, you already bought the phone anyways...
I also just mean the 5g net. I guess only the Sub6 n78 is activated here. The mmwave not at all!
The question is, does it have a software or hardware limitation? If software, which one can I install via odin?

In fact 5G limited not only by software, but by hardware too, every band protocol of 5G requires appropriate specific antenna to be installed in your device. Moreover, you can't flash anything except the firmware designed for N version (no U/U1 whatsoever options) because of boot-loader.
Thanks for your reply.
For mmwave you need hardware, but I guess for Sub6 it's only limited by sw?!?
5g supported bands are limited by hardware.
Korean models only support 5G n78.
Hope this helps

Many thanks. Of course it helps...is there's a possibility to unlock the other frequencies which aren't limited by hardware?

It's possible (4G bands) on some old phones (pre-835 era), but not so much these days though
Thanks for your reply. Not so much means, currently no possibility?

Thanks for sharing!
It's on sale on Brazil with the reference SM-G780GZBRZTO here.
Have not twrp and custom rom for this model yet?
there's nothing for that specific model yet, it's only been on-sale a couple of days
It's also on sale in France, here.
However, i face big issues when i use the front camera in Snapchat, it's so zoomed in, even in comparison of the "full" mode in apn (i know that Snapchat uses the full mode and not the 3/4, which makes the selfie more zoomed, but here it's apparently not just that).
Do you guys have experienced the same problem, or is it just me ?
Can I make a unnoficial TWRP for this model? I want this to make root for this model.
Is 5G blocked at software level? Is unlocking 5G possible? Which qualcomm modem integrated to this phone?

Snapdragon 865 has no integrated 5G modem. 5G models one externally to the SoC. SO probably there's no hardware for it in this phone.

Question Is S22 GPS dual band capable?

Hi!
Samsung Galaxy S22 (exynos) has dual band gps support?
GpsTest doesn't show me L5 signal.
I have poor signal, worst than my last OnePlus 8T.
Thank you!
The S22U (exy) has dual band support, the S22 has the same SOC, therefore I would expect it to receive L5. Btw. the Note 10 and S20 exy versions also have dual band support, so it would be strange if Samsung had removed it only on the S22.
Capture with S22 exynos and my Oneplus 8T… Maybe S22 has not able the feature and it’s enabled on S22 ultra?
Have you figured out anything?
Really no dual band?

What kind of problem do you mean? A standard user would not recognize if dual band works or not.

on s22 regular snapdragon, do not see L5 as well
Hm, if Exy and SD are affected, then maybe a hardware antenna for the 2nd frequency is missing?
My S22 Plus (EU version SM-S906B/DS) has L1/L5 as far as I can tell. I noticed in the GPS status app before as it counts the dual band double per satellite (so 2x visibile satellites). I installed the latest Android 13.0/5.0 update before running GPSTest, but I think it already was working like this before.
Sincerely,
Wim

It looks like only the S22 has no dual band. The Plus and Ultra have.
And carrier phase is only supported by the Exynos models and not by the Snapdragon ones.
