Hello, boys and girls,
After I switched to Google Pixel 4 XL as my daily driver, I have to say that Stock Android 10 convinced me right away. So I tried to bring a bit of Pixel Experience onto my HTC U12+, which will be used as a business phone in the future, to make transition between those to as smooth as possible. To realize it, I'm currently using the following apps:
Launcher: CPL (Customized Pixel Launcher) incl. Newsfeed Add-On | Source: PlayStore
Camera: Google Camera Port F1v10.3_7.0.009 | Source: [App] Arnova8G2's Google Camera Port
Dialer: Patched Google Phone 41.0.276316719 | Source: [APP][PATCHED] Google Phone
Of course I downloaded all other Google Apps from the PlayStore and deactivated as many of the Stock HTC Apps as I could.
Unfortunately the experience isn't perfect, and transitions between the Pixel 4 XL and my U12+ aren't in any way seamless. This happens mainly due to the fact, that the HTC U12+ still uses the old Android Nav Bar, instead of the newly introduced Android 10 gestures. Unfortunately I don't have any experience to port the Android 10 based PixelExperience ROM to our beloved HTC U12+, which is why I think that what I just described will be as near as we can get. Even though I would love to see PixelExperience on our HTC U12+, thus making it an HTC Pixel U12+. But that's not gonna happen any more.
That's why I'm interested in which ways others of us use to get your HTC U12+ as close to pixels as possible. What other apps do you use besides those described above? Give me your tips and tricks!

Hi guys,
Can't find any threads on this, so I figure out maybe it's only happening to me?
I went back from CyanogenMod 7.1 to the latest WWE stock ROM. (Android 2.3.3, HTC Sense 2.1, Build 2.42.405.4).
I can't seem to find a way to install Google Play. I would imagine it would come as an update, OTA or from the market itself.
Can't get used to the old Market again, looks so silly, like Windows 3.1!
Is there a way to install Google Play? Or do you have it by default?
Apparently HTC Desire Z is not on the supported devices list in Google Play. :silly:
If anyone is curious, the reason to go back to original ROM was:
- Adobe Flash based accelerated video playback (black video)
- poor signal or switch between 2G/3G caused system hangs and weird behaviour when using data
- HTC Sense is really good at integrating contacts
- HTC has a better camera (or at least has some nice features like face-focus)
- problems with GPS fix and the GPS bug from Android 2.3 (but fixed and unreleased by HTC)
I am using ADW launcher as HTC Sense Home Screen is a CPU and memory hog and gets killed very often by Android for memory.
Cheers!

well there are plenty of roms to choose from that are better than stock, but your choice on going back!

thank you demkantor for this workaround.
I am still curious what's wrong with this market update and wether downloading from theandroidsoul is required for everyone.
OTOH, can someone recommend a ROM that doesn't have all these mentioned problems?
HTC has just launched an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with its Sense 5 user interface for the HTC One X. For now, only the unlocked European version of the smartphone can benefit from the update, but the rest of the One X owners should get it in the coming weeks.
With Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 UI, the HTC One X gets features like Blinkfeed, Lockscreen widgets, as well as the Quick settings panel. The latter brings access to 12 different settings with a single swipe. Another user interface enhancement, albeit minor, is the battery level percent indicator next to the battery icon in the status bar.
The gallery app has been also overhauled with video highlights, which come with 12 different themes. There's also auto exposure and autofocus lock available in the camera app. Lastly, the music app enjoys the got visualization with live lyrics.
The Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One X weighs at 380 megabytes and brings the software version of the device to 4.18.401.2.
HTC has been launching quite a lot of updates for its Android smartphones this summer. Just the week before, the company issued the very same update for the HTC One X+. In July, the company started seeding Android 4.2.2 for its flagship HTC One, and just a day after that the Butterfly got the Android 4.2.2 treatment.

Sorry about this, it could well be obvious-
I'm used the the nexus way of thinking, where I started on pure android, so anything 'on top' of that (custom roms) would never lose anything, simply gain things. I'm getting an HTC One tomorrow (M8), which brings questions I've never had to think about, as I've always live in Google's bleeding edge of updates lane:
Now, obviously HTC runs sense which has various features, battery saving mode, blink feed etc, camera app specifically designed for duo, etc.
If I flash it so it's effectively the Play edition, does it keep any of the HTC apps? (I suppose what I',m asking is where is the line between HTC apps and HTC's "ROM"). Same goes for if I flash a custom ROM like Carbon or CM...
Also, and again sorry about this, but I don't understand how it works- if Carbon ROM (for example) is up to 4.4.4, and 4.4.4 hasn't been officially released for this HTC phone, does that just mean that the ROM developer has ported the 4.4.4 features and code to be compatible with the HTC in that ROM?
BlinkFeed, battery saving and the camera are integral parts of the ROM. They require Sense, they require a sense based ROM. They're not standalone apps. You will lose then if you don't have a sense based ROM and they cannot be added after.
Maybe there is a decent camera app for the Google Phone Experience edition.
You kind of have to choose whether you want Sense or not.

Kinda following on from Ben, the Sense-based ROMs have all of HTCs proprietary apps, such as BlinkFeed and their camera app. It's what you'll see when you get.
The Google Play edition (GPe) is basically like a Nexus device - it'll have none of HTCs visual changes or apps and will use all the Google apps like a Nexus device. You do get the motion gestures to turn the screen on with a swipe, and it does still use the depth camera and boom sound but other than that it'll behave like a Nexus. Some HTC apps can be downloaded from the Play Store but not many...
I tend to float between the GPe ROM and Sense depending on my mood, I'm on Sense right now
Check out this videohttp://youtu.be/8q3gGWn6HwM. Guy goes into quite a bit of detail explaining the differences of GPE vs. Sense 6. I actually used this video as a reference when I decided to try out a GPE Rom on my M8 a few weeks back.

Thanks so much all- that really simplifies it. So I guess it's best to view sense as just another ROM with it's own features- just in the same way Carbon rom has it's own battery saver modes, which I assume work a little differently again.
Next question then, the things I like from sense are the camera app and the battery saver modes- purely because theyre designed specifically for my device. Is there anything remotely similar? Is there a way of getting those APKs from sense or soemthing?
And finally, my phone has a carrier (O2) splash screen on startup- if I need to sell this in future, is there a version of the images I can get hold of or even just the latest version of sense? (As if it's come straight form the factory)- I can't seem to see how to fully factory flash this phone anywhere :s
I am running a custom OS, which varies from Statix, Nitrogen to Holydragon or MSM. At this moment Statix though; simple, fast and stable.
I have read some topics about camera apps for the OnePlus 3T.
Although Google Camera app in modified version is very populair, I have issues running it.
Probably because I am not using any Google related stuff (Google Play Services, Google Photo's etc...), so I keep coming back at Open Camera, or OnePlus Camera app.
At this moment I am using oneplus-camera-2-5-34, but I was wondering if some people have experience with latest Oneplus camera apps (V3.0.xx) on OnePlus 3T, or could advise other options with great results.
2.5.34 is stable and working fine, but ofcourse is missing options of newer (OP5 and OP6) versions.
Home someone is willing to share his experiences and give some advice!

2.8.32 running fine indeed, thanks.
Other tips also welcome of course
Looked through the ROM section, but didn't quite see one that advertised itself as what I'm looking for.
I was perfectly happy with the Stock Pixel 2 XL, but it no longer gets security updates.
Google revealed that there's the "Pixel Experience" ROM, which looks like it would be exactly what I'm looking for, but that project appears to be dead.
Home - Pixel Experience
Home - Pixel Experience
download.pixelexperience.org
Can anybody suggest a Pixel Experience type ROM that's active? I just want something that's less AOSP and more Pixel (launcher, Discover, etc.) with security updates.
Its active:
Latest build date....for Taimen at least
Date: January 20, 2021 17:42 UTC
Otherwise, i would just use Proton (my preference) or LineageOS
If Google dont make it anymore, then youre left with maybe one Pixel type ROM,
Most folks are going to be using LOS based ROMs....the way its always been since Lineage was Cyanogen...
