Hi Guys,
This may be because I'm coming for a Blackberry but my Nexus's vibrate function feels WAY too light. I'll have the phone sitting on a pad of paper on my desk and the only way I know I have a notification is if I happen to glance over at the phone and the LED is blinking.
Has this been anyone else's experience? Is there an app (similar to Volume+) that would help increase the vibrate function's strength?
Thanks!

You, probably, have forgotten to turn on the vibration-notification in sms settings.
I even get frightened because of a phone, when there is a new text message and my phone is on the desk near me
I have vibrate in the Messenger app set to "Always".

I can double confirm this. The vibration is so powerful that it also makes a loud noise at the same time. So this is definitely not a generic phone problem. Maybe your specific model ? Try to get another one.
does an app exist that will boost the vibrate function so that I can give it a try

I didn't think the vibration was weak on the GN until earlier today when I decided to install ICS on my trusty HD2 to see how it handled it. The vibration on my HD2 feels about 3 times more powerful than the GN so some people might see it as weak.
Thank you. I don't think its a phone defect, I'd really like to see some way to increase the intensity.

I need to decrease vibration intensity because I I get frightened anytime the phone is on my wooden desk and vibrates! Any app out there?

I am wondering the same thing!

My Galaxy Nexus's vibrate is INCREDIBLY weak. Barely audible at all when on a desk, and basically impossible to feel vibrate when it's in my pocket. At first I thought it was my silicone case, but even after taking it out of the case it's barely any better.
There are actually people who believe the vibrate is powerful? I wonder if I should get mine checked out.

I have a feeling that they're being hyperbolicly defensive. Quite a few reviews have mentioned this as an issue, along with quiet notification sounds.
If you're in a silent room with your phone on your desk, of course you'll feel that the vibration is strong. But just get out of the house and into a loud place, like a mall. I missed two calls and an SMS the first time I went out with my GN even though vibrate AND sound were on.
Sorry to bump an old-ish thread, but still no one has offered any solutions. Is it possible or not to increase the vibration intensity?
Yeah, I fail to see how anyone can think the vibrate on this phone is strong. I set my D2G next to the phone and it got an email I can hear the vibrate in the other room. Next when the SGN got a vibrate I barely heard it 2 feet away in my chair. Either I have a defective model or this phones vibrate is insanely weak.
Bump for revisiting this...
I'm considering the GNexus, but vibration strength is a big issue for me. I keep my phone on silent with vibration at work and out in general, because I personally consider it more considerate to others.
I'm not concerned with vibration when it's sitting in my desk, but I'm definitely concerned when it's in my pocket. In fact, I returned the RAZR because I literally missed every call and SMS that came in because the vibration was so week.
Can anyone compare this to the SGS2's vibration, which I thought was strong, and I could feel it when in my pocket. Same thing with the iPhone when I had that -- I thought the vibration was very strong.
I know it sounds like a weird deal-breaker, but if I'm missing calls/SMS, it defeats the main purpose of the phone, you know?
I turn off all default and use light flow. The vibrate time can be customized. I hate to 2 little buzz vibrates. I have it set for a continuous time of 3 seconds.

I would consider the vibration strength as low/decent. I came from a Motorola XT720 which had a much stronger vibration.
I've never used a SGS2 or RAZR so I can't really comment. I've used friend's iPhones briefly but would say the iPhone has a stronger vibrate.
For what it's worth I can usually feel the vibration of texts and calls when the phone is in my pocket.
I don't really care, but the vibrate function on my SGN is absolutely anemic. It's the weakest I've ever had in any smartphone, to the point where I just turn it off because it's so unnoticeable.
Hello guys
Is there any method to get GN vibrate when pocket? Obviously it should be in dependence of proximity sensor, but I cannot set it up, as lets say HTC Sensation does.
Thanks and ciao
Majjjjo
I having the same sota problem with my sensation
I just thought of this and I have no idea if it would work but would it be possable to ad a little more unevenness to the pager motor to make it vibrate more, not Evan sure if u can get access to the little buzzer but as I said its just an idea

this made me think. i think there's an "option" to change vibrate strenght in the source....
Received my OP3 yesterday and immediately i noticed the vibration motor is kind of weak / noisy.
It makes some kind of rattling noise. Im not sure if this is normal or a defective unit so i was wondering if more people having the same issue.
Thanks :good:
Yeah, same here. It may have to do with the vibration intensity which may be set a bit high in OOS 3.1.2. But it's just my guess. You could try a ROM with a modifiable vibration intensity and see what the results are then.

Just seen the android authority review they state it as " Sub-par vibration motor ". I agree.
Somewhat agree, feel's very much like the same motor used in the opo. I don't actually mind it to be honest, phone may be silenced but instill can just about hear it when a notification comes in..
Yeah its not that much of a big deal, but im used to strong vibration motors i think i just have to get used to it
But it feels a little bit cheap on such a high end build
My S7E haptic feedback motor is strong but very muted/quiet. When I got my OP3 I immediately thought it was broken. It really disturbs me at the moment amd I hope I get used to it or find info about some units being defective so I can send it back for fixing.
Same here. But I had the side affect of knowing this behavior from my opo.
On my note 4 it was Better in terms of vibration intensity. The opo 3 is louder but generates less vibration. It feels and sounds cheap. Although I have to admit that for me it's not that big of a deal since I have my phone on the desk all the time and vibration for me is just a quieter way of informing me rather than having the sound on...

I have the same issue. In fact it wasn't like this before. I like to set a very light vibration when I type and I've just noticed a hiss noise each time I press a button/key. I use OP 3 for a week and it definitely wasn't like this before this moment. It may be related to recent update I've got yesterday (but this seems unlikely), or the engine isn't so good than I thought. Anyway that's a bit disappointing. Is your vibration hissing too? I can hear it even at the lowest settings when the vibration barely noticeable but the noise is still present. Sounds very cheap, even my $100 Jiayu sounded better.
Mine feels the same, too rattly.
Do you think there are a few defective unites around or is it the same on all OP3's and a bunch of us are more sensitive to it than the rest?
I did take mine to the service center where they said that if the vibration motor was defective in any way, it would just not work at all and mine apparently has no issues.
mines noisy and kinda weak as well but i arranged with it just fine
I have the same issue too. The phone makes a rattling noise while vibrating and it is annoying!!
Ask for a replacement!!
I have this vibration issue too, but it occured after some weeks, not at day 1.
I did a service request, described the issue and sent it in.
After some days my OP3 came back, protocol said "no service needed, all test went fine".
Funny thing, the vibration issue was gone.
The next morning it was back again and now I'm in forum right now, looking for a solution...
Oh man, they used the same cheap and rattly vibration motor they used on the One, not the good one from 2. I just realized.
Hi guys. I just started to using it today and came across very odd issue. The vibration seems to be broken. I can barely hear it working and cannot find an option to increase its intensity. Is anyone facing the same? It sound just ridiculous for a phone that expensive.
My vibrator seems to be working fine. Only had the phone for a day so far tho.

Not sure how quiet it is for you, but I think they are all pretty quiet. If I had it sitting on a table I wouldn't hear it. If you root and use a elementalX kernel you can increase the intensity, makes a huge difference.

I am thinking about rooting it, and I regret I didn't do it first thing. After restarting the device the system message pops up a with "vibration intensity set to 70"...

With me occurred the opposite.
I'm so disappointed about that issue.
I simply loved the phone, but on the second day of use the strange vibration noise started.
For sure, in my case, is a manufacturing defect.
The vibration motor seems to be broken. The vibration mode is so intense, that it seems to make a "scratchy" sound at the end of each vibration. It's almost like the vibration motor is loose or something inside the phone is loose and the vibration noise gets worse.
And the worst of all is that I imported the phone to Brazil, and now I don't have any idea how can I receive support to my phone.
Sighh.. so guys, i had my mi mix for about 6 months and i loveD this phone. but i feel like its come to the end of the line already.
MIUI is basically unusable for me, missed notifications, calls missed by delay of ring & late notifications, group texting is horrible, camera image processing sucks, OS crashes etc. (all this before rooting mind you)
But after rooting all of those issues went away....for a bit.
so since day 2 i had it rooted running lineageOS and switched to RR, but 3 months later and up til today i started experiencing:
Slight screen burn
Constant OS Crashes/Random Reboots
Cell Signal dropping in areas that it didnt while running MIUI
Still bad camera image processing
Call Audio dropping extremely low when volume is Maxed
Bluetooth disconnects while my phone is in my pocket (didnt happen on MIUI)
and several other things.
I work IT and cant have some of these things happening while at work.
I started looking at alternative devices and since the Pixel 2 is too dang much for my pockets I'm considering the Pixel XL.
I hate that the screen is 5.5 inches over my 6.4 but I need something nice that works. I'm wondering if i left if I'd be happy or nah?
I had a Pixel XL and the software experience was incredible, it was better than anything else I've used. I did have to send it back though, because I had display burn in after 2 days and it was very uneven on dark colours. People report Bluetooth issues, but I didn't have any, so who knows.
But in my opinion, if you get one with a good screen, it is still better than most phones today, it really is a good phone.
Has anyone noticed that OP9 Pro has a very low strength of a vibration motor, even if the strength is set to max in settings?
With 6T and 7 Pro, when the call comes in, I can hear the vibration from across the room. However, with 9 Pro, I can't hear (or feel) the vibration even if the phone is right next to me on the desk.
Is there something that can be done to increase the vibration strength any further?
Thanks!
I need the POWER!!!!!! lol sorry I had too. Feels normal to me compared to my oneplus 7 and 8 pro.
Seems much stronger than my past Samsung flagship phones

Yep. Same here. Strength on my 6t is *much* more noticeable. Hoping the devs can give us the option to bump it up a bit.
The strength itself is I think the same. The problem, it seems, is the camera bump on the back does not allow the vibration motor to vibrate against the desk on which the phone is placed, in turn making it pretty much quiet and unnoticable.
