Also i found this:

If you find any clue then please PM me. I also want to build an android with treble.

This doesn't work. You cannot enable treble by changing build.prop. If you follow these instructions, you risk bricking your device!
He just wants to get youtube ad-revenue!!!

Sorry !!!! I am new in the world of android, so I don't know many things. I thought maybe this would actually enable treble. And later I found that u can't on android 7 coz u won't get ro_treble_enabled=false in the build prop. So don't even watch this video!!!!!

That toggle doesn't work, even if it exists. If you toggle it an trick android into trying to update your device, you have a high risk bricking your device and the odds of it actually succeeding are minimal. That property is NOT an enable or disable switch, it is the device manufacturer telling the OS that the device software does NOT support treble.

Enabling treble is not as simple as changing a switch in build.prop. Treble requires seperate vendor partion. You need to repartition the device. People have been successful in doing that for mi A1. look here :
[GUIDE] [Q&A] [TREBLE] From Stock to Treble - everything you need to know!
Here I will share all the info you need to know about using Treble on the Mi A1. Everyone is more than welcome to ask questions and clarification here, I am happy to answer and will update this thread over time. Thanks! Contents 0. Key Terms...

Cm-13.0 - development/discussion thread

Hi,
So, cm-13 is very unlikely on our device, but i'll take a look anyway (a slow look as my time is very limited).
Here you'll find my "work" and "help requests".
First, for sure i didn't "worked" on a lot of device, but it's the first one i have with a dedicated partition to the kernel dts.
Code:
/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/dts /dts emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/boot /boot emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/recovery /recovery emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/misc /misc emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modem /modem emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modem_dsp /modem_dsp emmc defaults recoveryonly
+/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/sensorhub /sensorhub emmc defaults recoveryonly
- I wonder if the dts, which is kernel dependent, could be the major problem to get a custom rom version (kk, jb, mm), or even a stock huawei rom, to work from any base rom. I'll try to make some experiment soon.
- I did sync cm-13, and "of course" have cwm recovery working. But whatever i'm trying i can't get screen output on twrp 3.0. Does someone have a clue on this?
- @gabry3795 , do you still have the device ? I would be happy to get your hangout/google nickname if you have any to sometime talk about this device. @codeworkx is of course also welcome for any advice. By the way your cm12.0 github repo (codeworkx) doesn't seem's to be up to date, even if i understand that's it's in a non-working state.

As I understand there are some crucial files / source codes that Huawei is refusing to release to the public. This alone sounds super dodgy, because isn't Android supposed to be open source? Or can companies "own" a custom version of Android and do this sort of thing?
These files are crucial for creating custom kernels and ROMs, as they have to do with (once again, this is how I interpreted it) how the device handles the CPU and GPU.
Basically, while it is possible to install other ROMs on the device, they'll have to be based on EMUI and its kernels, because it is the only thing that contains these files necessary to make the device run, which makes the entire exercise pointless because EMUI is s*** no matter what form it takes.
I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to simply "extract" this necessary code from the stock kernels / ROMs and implement it in a custom one? I do not know even the slightest thing about programming, so I could just be sounding like an idiot.

i too have wondered about this. im sure its possible but it might be far to difficult an endeavor because if it weren't, someone would have attempted it by now. i really miss my nexus 5 with all its custom roms. i suggest that all mate 7 owners get in contact with huawei and demand they comply with the android user agreement. they are technically supposed to give up sources. we could fight, but not unless we unite.
Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!

You're right, extracting stock binary files is an essential part of roms porting but some important files can't be inherited because they are strictly hardware-related, therefore you have to compile the original android source and then "patch" that files for the specific GPU/CPU (starting from android 5 lollipop) with other files given by the vendor of the phone.

But isn't that the entire problem, the "other files" that have to be supplied by the vendor? Huawei is refusing to release them, and therefore making it impossible to develop custom ROM's.
Or are you saying that it is possible, but there just isn't enough interest in the phone for anyone with the necessary skills to actually go through the trouble?

I'm saying that Huawei must provide that 'patches' (as Qualcomm did, for example) otherwise is impossibile to build a working ROM, this is the problem. We cannot do anything without them.

this is why we should all come together so as to put pressure on huawei to release these files. i have been trying for months now but its getting very tiresome. im going to start a twitter account that will hopefully get their attention. i think the problem is that the general public dont know much/anything about custom roms. there should be a custom rom psa for all android users that point out the benefits of custom roms.

Agreed.
Unfortunately I live in a place where just picking up a new phone is not as easy as 123, But I think I'll try and get my hands on a different phone this weekend. Huawei pisses me off.
No source release by Huawei.
No Kirin SOC support would be a huge problem to get it working I think.

Project Treble

As we all know our 1+5T doesn't support project treble,
so my question is,
is this hardware or software dependent?
In other words,
is it possible for devs to find a way to implement it in future custom roms or in a kernel for our dumpling?
Or would this just be impossible?
Thanks in advance

Good question.
At least one would need to repartition internal card, if I understood. This alone is not impossible but a bit hard and not without risk.
That said often I wonder if it could be possible to boot, say, TWRP (or any other Linux) from USB and take full dd backup of internal card for all certainty (and then repartition). This is how many Android TV boxes can be backed up (they use u-boot infrastructure). So why not phones?

This question has been discussed lots before.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/change-org-project-treble-op5t-t3709841
Implementing Project Treble would require repartitioning storage. Also, it gives literally zero benefit to a custom ROM.
TL;DR: It's never going to happen.

Perhaps there is no functional benefit. But porting seems easier for some devices:
What about :

Yup, somebody saw a mountain and decided to climb it. We'll see what comes of it.
Yeah mokee ROM has treble working on the OnePlus One 5T. There's an unused partition that can be created without re-partition in the device and if you install a regular ROM it doesn't see it you install a treble ready ROM and you previously had mokee installed according to the mokee dev it works. It uses the ab style of treble. There is an "a" and "ab" and "a/b" versions from what I read. Mokee is releasing nightlies of their ROM
Haven't tried it on mine pretty happy with the aicp Oreo that I'm running so I can't tell you what bugs it has. Google it XDA has a discussion on mokee and treble with OnePlus 5t

[Question] Is there any unofficial way to port Treble on non-supported devices ?

Hello guys,
I know there is maybe some similar threads but I need a clear answer to the question in the title because I'm confused now
If it's possible, can you redirected me to some guides which explain how to get Treble working ? It would be very helpful for me to port AOSP on my Note8.
I know that devs already done that for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 that's why I am searching to try to do the same for my device.
Thanks in advance

Don't this this is possible without doing some major changes.
This post here gives a pretty good explanation:
ultramag69 said:
It would require a partition change on your Note 8 which would completely wipe your device... I don't believe ANY OEM will do this as there would be too much of a hue and outcry from the regular - non XDA - users who suddenly lost everything in the update that gave them treble.
Also, most people wouldn't know what the heck you're talking about if you mentioned it so it is not to their economic advantage to give us treble on the Note 8.
I know many people who don't update to the latest and greatest simply because they don't know the difference...

then you should actually be able to do it like the one plus 5
you would have to repartition it. ....

Oneplus 5T had an empty partition that wasn't formatted. It had been found a while ago and utiilised by devs to bring unofficial treble to the 5 and 5T.
This partition has now been used by Oneplus to enable Treble on these devices.
It's highly unlikely Samsung have done this but that would need to be checked...
Anyone out there found an unformatted partition?

There are still a few people building for Marlin. And we have LOS17 and Pixel Dust 10 that are active and some bad ass pie roms that aren't that old... You can use GSIs. I've flashed a few but all the ones I've tried seem to have issues with ril and have SIM card unavailable and no data and I haven't found a work around yet. You should be able to find the information that you're looking for here https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image/releases#android-gsi-11
If I were you I'd wait. While there's no guarantee I'm pretty sure android 11 roms will be available at some point made for the XL. The Pixel XL is an A/B partition device. Just always make a backup and transfer it on to a thumb drive or your computer before you start installing anything and always have your factory image handy and know how to use fastboot and adb so you can recover if something goes wrong. This whole Android thing is all about reading and searching. Just installing things without knowing what's really going on and how to recover is risky and I would not suggest it.

I actually checked out that thread already. I followed the link what to do when the partition size isn't big enough initially. But it didn't work for me. So I guess you're right. I shouldn't flash the GSI and instead wait for Android 11 builds for Marlin. <3

General [WIP] Porting LineageOS 20 to the Oneplus 11

We all know the path OnePlus/Oppo went with development, MSM Tools and all, and I want to make it clear and short : I'm going to work on this phone no matter what. The OnePlus 10 series were a failure in this regard and I don't want the OnePlus 11 to experience the same.
I've been in this space for quite some years now, since Xperia X10 times and Android 2.3, and my last device has been a OnePlus 8 Pro that have provided me great service. Sadly, the battery is slowly dying and I can't bring myself to purchasing a phone I cannot tamper with. I've always loved OnePlus and I have hard times considering anything else.
If you're a developer, just wave at me using this thread. We need to know each other and work together to bring something to this phone. The obvious path would be to at least get a TWRP and a basic kernel built. I absolutely want to get to a LineageOS build.
If you're not a dev, but you have deep understanding on how fastboot, bootloader, and all else means, you can be a tester. I haven't bought the OnePlus 11 yet but I'm going to work on it and acquire it if some of you follow me.
If you're nether of these, you can still share the thread to other people to raise awareness.
I'll likely create a Telegram conversation if we get to a few devs. If you're interested in working on the OnePlus 11, please post a reply
@dekefake I've changed the prefix of your thread from "Development", for which it doesn't qualify, to "General"; do not revert that! Prior to your next posting, please read all announcements and guidances that are stuck at the top of every forum like
My phone android 8 m27 3 16 401 2v201U241a...

For example, you'll certainly easily recognise that only threads with own development qualify for the prefix "Development", and this doesn't apply to this thread.

Yes that's true, TWRP isn't really necessary anymore, but I feel like this small step would be quite a good start. Either way, having LineageOS booting is the most important and challenging task.

I'll likely create a Telegram conversation if we get to a few devs. If you're interested in working on the OnePlus 11, please post a reply

oneplus 11 twrp install guide: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Gv4y1r7Gv/
I develope the app and also update the video above.
Oneplus roms collection: https://op.daxiaamu.com (yes I maintained it)
I just pre-ordered the 11 and was lucky because I got a 100 Amazon gift card from Amazon so I can get a case and screen protectors I just hope we can get a working root soon I held off on upgrading my 8t because of lack of dual sim in us now one plus gave us dual sim and a bonus of esim so I can't wait as I use both sim slots I have a cheap plan on my main line and I get free unlimited data on my second sim which I need both so I'm happy
TWRP is necessary for NANDroid Backups, I'll join testing if come out.
Mine will be here Thursday. The sooner I can root / debloat etc, the better. I'm no dev, but I will be here testing.

Okay nice. I don't think I'll try to build a TWRP first then. I may try to build a LineageOS build directly. Does someone here dumped an OxygenOS OP11 partition table including partition paths, names, and exact sizes ?
Okay well, I expected more engagement with this thread, and maybe some help..
Is there someone here with a rooted OnePlus 11 ? Or at least with unlocked BL ?

Awesome !
To avoid any soft brick in the future while testing builds, we'd need to know exactly which fastboot features are enabled and which are not, starting with fastboot boot.
Could you please dump your recovery.img and boot.img, and try to fastboot boot each of them to confirm the phone is booting normally sideloading the boot.img, and booting in recovery correctly when sideloading recovery.img ?
Also, I currently have no idea of the partition layout of the OnePlus 11, is it the same as the OnePlus 8 Pro, or if things changed since then, it would be a good thing to dump information about the partition table, possibly using fastboot enhance. I've read in some other threads that someone needed to patch a partition called "init_boot", weighting 8mb, so maybe the kernel now resides in two different partitions : init_boot being the ramdisk and zImage being elsewhere. The best would be to gather more info about the partition table before trying any fastboot sideloading.
To begin, please install a terminal emulator, and type :
Bash:
su
ls -als /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/ >> /sdcard/fstab.txt
Please upload the created fstab.txt file here
