I tried to root my device, and I eventually I managed, but i missed the step to recover my android phone backup from google drive during the startup setup, so I found some tutorial and it seems to tell me erase the phone back to factory so that I can see the startup setup again.
Now the device only boots into TWRP, and I have downloaded two different stock image , V10.0.1.0 and V10.0.2.0, trying to install in recovery mode, so I follow instruction, wipe system before install.
but both of them giving me error, not opening the zip file.
Now I can not use my phone, how can I install a OS please?

Hello,
I think a solution is to use MiFlash and to restore your phone, you will loose all of your data, your recovery and magisk.
Download link : https://xiaomiflashtool.com/
- Boot your phone in Fastboot and connect it to your computer,
- Extract the stock rom to a folder normally you will obtain some files with a folder called images.
- In MiFlash select this folder.
- Click on refresh, if your phone is connected to your computer and in fastboot mode it will appear.
Now select clean all and click on flash button.
Your phone will reboot normally.
If it doesn't work tell me !

I have installed the USB driver, the qualcomm usb driver, and install those 5 drivers within MiFlash tool (google, nvidia, microsoft, microsoft, qualcomm), and i still get the same error.
is it because my phone has nothing but only the TWRP? no OS? so it can not be detected by the computer?

it works!!
But something quite strange, the machine is a bit slow, and i have typed the correct (for sure) password for my wifi a few times, and only the 7th or 8th try it connects.
and I dont seem to be able to install apps from google play, they all stuck in download pending.
Can I actually 'factory reset' the phone to the status when it was out of the box?

Yes, bootloader's still unlocked and i have acces to fastboot.
Find "Mi A2 Lite toolkit V 1.0.4.2" and use it to flash stock 8.1, it will do all the magic with a few clicks, just don't interrupt it until your phone restarts and you get the "Welcome" screen. After you can do the upgrade to Pie via OTA.

If it was too simply ... I think i did that already, But fastboot room, what do you mean with that ?
I just want, now, to be sure, can i save my phone ? It's not dead ?
Cause it's a very good phone and i don't want to loose it, really.
Nope, it's not dead, even with locked bootloader it wouldn't be. But now that you've got an unlocked bootloader, it's very easy to restore
I'm more happy so, 5 hours ( no fake really ) i search a solution .... SO
I found a global rom without .bat files in this folder so i got an error with Mi Flash Tool .. Tell me more about your idea

-Tente isso:
Download this official rom: https://en.miui.com/download-354.html
Download this Mi Flash Tool: http://api.en.miui.com/url/MiFlashTool
*I'm assuming you already have the ADB drivers installed on your PC
*Remember to check the CLEAN ALL option
-If the above method does not work, do the following:
* It will only work if you do not have TWRP installed, if it is with twrp installed, I recommend reinstalling the original recovery *
1-Turn off the device and press (POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP). At that point, the android doll will appear and spelled 'NO COMMAND'
2-Press only (POWER BUTTON) and click quickly (VOLUME UP BUTTON). In this screen you will see the recovery options, use the volume buttons to go to the WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET option, confirm with YES and restart the device.
3- Wait patiently for 3/5 minutes.
-If none of this works and you can still access twrp, I recommend you try installing a GSI rom using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-functional-twrp-magisk-pie-gsi-t3900119
I recommend this GSI rom (I'm using this now): https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gsi (choose 'arm64-ab')
This will give you a working system and make it easier to return to stock.
Hope one of these methods helped!

If u alredy used twrp den u have adb.
U need mi flash tool.
Download any one of the full fastboot roms for Mi A2 Lie below:
9.6.4.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10399/
9.6.10.0: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/10867/
10.0.3: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/11586/
So to revive ur fone, u do dis. Dis was how i did mine.
1. After downloading a rom of choice, u extract on ur pc using winrar, 7zip or izarc. U basically open the archive using any of these software n copy out the folder contained. The name usually starts with "daisy global ...."
2. U open the extracted rom folder. U will see a bunch of files including "flash_all.bat" etc and a folder called "images".
3. Click on the address bar of d rom folder and copy the address. Den open "mi flash tool" and paste d copied address in the mi flash tool address bar n click on refresh.
4. Boot ur phone to fastboot mode, using "power" & "volume down" buttons together.
connect d phone to ur pc via usb cable.
5. Open ur adb folder and open the adb command window.
Type in the following, one after the other n click enter:
" fastboot devices " dis to confirm the adb connection
" fastboot oem edl " dis to enter edl mode. Ur fone led starts blinking at 1sec intervals.
6. Back to mi flash tool, u click on "refresh". After a second ur fone should be seen as a COM port "COM 10"
7. At d bottom right, u shd find 3 options. Selct "clean all". This shd leave ur bootloader unlocked after the process.
8. U click on "flash" button at the top right. All things going well, within 10 mins the process shd be done and u will see "green" indicator with "success".
9. Hold ur fone n press d power botton for 10 secs. Then ur fone shd power up. Give ur fone exactly about 5 mins to come up "look at the clock & dnt assume"
Dis is an edit of others tutorials. But this is exactly how it worked for me. As long as u use any of the 3 roms i linked u.
Unless i use edl mode, it jus doesnt work for me.
Good luck. Leta know how it goes. And pls click thanks if i helped u.
Problem solved

After upload 10.2.9.0 my phone was bricked with this message. The system has been destroyed:silly:
I have tried all the methods that exist for other Xiaomi phones because this is very new and I do not find tutorials for this mobile and whenever I do the test point and give it to flash it gives me the following error
dump error: <? xml version = "1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?> <data> <log value = "ERROR: Only nop and sig tag can be recevied before authentication." /> </ data> <? xml version = "1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?> <data> <response value = "NAK" /> </ data>
I have tried with China stable rom, China developer, global stable. I have tried with 3 cables. It always gives the same error
I resort to the test point because I can only enter Fastboot, I can not go into recovery. I do not have a Xiaomi account associated in my Device and neither do I have debug usb enabled. My last option was the test point.
It reached the step where the pc recognizes me as Qualcomm 9008 and when I flash the fastboot decompressed rom I get the error mentioned above.
Let's see if someone helps me tell me where I do it wrong.
Please help me

FIXED IT (at least temporarely)
- boot into fastboot mode. press volume down and power until you see the mi bunny.
- install and run minimal adb and fastboot on a pc
- plug phone to pc
- run "fastboot devices" you should see a line with device id & fastboot
- run "fastboot continue"
wait for it
tadam you will be back into the old miui 10.2.9.
first thing you should do is dev options, mi unlock and bind phone & account. (that way you can then unlock)

I tried power off and then on I have same problem but using your tip I can restart again. Now I need unlock bootloader, but then? Have I instalo TRWP and flash 10.2.3.0 version?
after you unlock you should have options that werent there on locked:
- twrp from fastboot, format and custom rom
- miflash the latest tgz
havent tried any myself, still on locked, waiting time 6 days
or you can just fastboot continue on each restart, xiaomi should fix the update eventually...

Can :
1. Can enter bootloader

Tried:
1. flashing stock ROM several times,
2. flashing stock recovery

Thanks for your post friend, but, your guide doesn't fulfill my situation.
As, I am stuck on bootliader or boot logo.
I have flashed all firmwares s048,s233,s244,s51 through fastboot but none of them able to get me out of it.
Even tried flashing various recoveries both stock and twrp but neither of them helped
If, anyhow I can be able to enter into TWRP. It will solve the problem. But, I don't know nothing seems to work.
Even tried corrupting the bootloader and then flashing blankflash, but that too didn't able to get me out of the bootlogo.
Please help ?

Yep. Go ahead. You can try S244 firmware to try and boot your phone. If it boots then update accordingly as I mentioned in my guide.

I have checked the text file of your guide, and they are the same instructions which I have been following since start. :silly:
The "fastboot format system" is a command which I used to do on my Moto G, and was able to format system successfully.
But, I don't remember if it used to work on P2 or not , that's why I asked you. If, you can use that command to check the output on your device.
Thanks

Hmmm so you haven't read .txt file carefully. Command is:
Fastboot ERASE system
See the difference now? :silly:

OMG, yes brother, I already know the command, and I have used it several times, the fastboot ERASE command, but, as mentioned several timesin the past, it is not solving my problem.
As, I am still not able to enter into any recovery(neither stock nor twrp), and not able to boot and OS.
That's why, I wanna try "Fastboot format system" command.
If, somehow that solves my problem

OK. I though that you only tried Format command not erase. You should skip this command and do the whole process. I have added this command so that previous system files are erased. But, I booted my phone without using this command first time. Second time, I tried to see if I can do it all in a single process then I added this command and it worked without any issues and all the process went smooth and phone booted like a new one.
Try all commands but skip erase system command.

My Mi A2 Lite had stock rom v10.0.18.0, unlocked bootloader, Magisk v20.3 and TWRP using Offain v3.3.1.
I wanted to try dotOS custom ROM and followed this tutorial:
https://github.com/tkchn/daisyinstall
I begin with step 1 installing daisy global image v10.0.18.0 with flash_all.sh.
First time the script froze in the beginning.
I restarted it and it finished without errors but the following boot never ends.
I tried the same procedure with v10.0.3.0.
No errors and a never ending boot.
I tried to reinstall twrp from Offain using fastboot.
It looks OK but I can not press any button because the first twrp screen is frozen.
Now I can only enter fastboot.
adb does not recognize the device but fastboot seems to be working.
I am woried about my batery. I cannot see if it is charging because the boot is never ending. When I left fastboot without connecting USB cable I can turn off the phone but if I connect the charger the phone begins to work as if booting again and again.
What can I do to install the stock ROM without issues?

1- Download this: https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
2- Create a new folder on your C drive and name it: adb
3- Extract & place everything from the platform-tools into your adb folder
4- Download this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SKIlWS-y6kNI4YIE2Sj4_9CcRJ9W0xTh
5- Extract & place it to your adb folder
6- Reboot your phone to TWRP and wipe it, then reboot to bootloader
7- Connect your phone to your PC
8- Go into the daisy_global_images_V10.0.9.0.PDLMIXM_9.0 folder and run: flash_all.bat
A window will pop up and install the stock mi a2 lite rom. Let it finish then your phone boot up. You will have to update your phone since this stock rom that I linked is a pretty old one.
Someone had a similar question in another forum, so I just copy my answer from there. If you have adb already installed you can ignore the first 3 steps.
I had frozen twrp screen a couple of times but managed to fix it by restarting the phone and re-open the powershell window in adb. I use twrp-daisy-3.2.3-0-offain.img
I'm afraid I cannot do step 6 as my TWRP is not working any more.
The remaining procedure I already did with 2 different daisy images V10.0.18.0 and 10.0.3.0.
In both cases the stock ROM was installed but the phone didn't finish to boot.
Why do you think it would be different if I use V10.0.9.0?
You said you fix frozen TWRP restarting the phone and re-openning the powershell in adb. My phone did not restart and adb does not work.
I was thinking I did not try to install stock image using MiFlash tool. I can do it if I get a windows computer available.
I saw people suggesting fastboot oem edl but I could not find a clear explanation of the procedure.
I understood that I must use MiFlash in that case too but the steps are not clearly defined and I need a windows computer anyway.
Does someone have a step by step to use fastboot oem edl?

No particular reason behind 10.0.9.0 ... I just had that uploaded to my drive and when I posted this to another forum I didn't wanted to "waste" time to search for a link so I just used mine. Anyways u have to wipe your phone before installing stock rom.
The way I fixed mine is not working for you so Im afraid Im out of ideas.
Hope someone can help you out with it
thanks, anyway for your kind and quick answer.
I'd suggest giving MiFlash a try. Because a few times I tried flashing with the script file bundled with the stock ROM, I also had some bootloops, but MiFlash fixed the issue. When it comes to EDL flashing:
1 - Grab the 20160401 version of MiFlash from here : https://www.xiaomiflash.com/download/ (You need this version because it's the only MiFlash version that's capable of EDL flashing, mind you, you need a Windows PC and 64-bit hardware for this)
2 - Connect the phone in fastboot mode and type this command :
Code:
fastboot oem edl
Hit enter, this will take the phone into EDL mode, which means the screen will go black and the notification LED will start blinking.
3 - Now you're in EDL mode, open the MiFlash version I mentioned and Browse to find the location the stock ROM is stored, then hit refresh so that the software can recognize the phone.
4 - Hit flash to start flashing, but remember EDL flashing is a very fragile process, so make sure you don't lose power/shutdown the app while it's doing its job. After a successful flash, the app will say it is successful. Unplug the phone and start holding the power button to reboot. If you want to lock the bootloader, make sure to hold vol down as well and go into fastboot then re-lock the bootloader with :
Code:
fastboot oem lock
5 - Voila!
Thank you marstonpear for the detailed answer.
I will try MiFlash this evening and will post the result here.
I am very glad to count with more experienced people in fixing my errors.
Hello marstonpear,
I downloaded daisy image v10.0.13.0 that was suggested in XiomiFlash how to and try to flash it.
I got the error "mismatch image and device". This is very strange. Never had this before flashing with fastboot.
Do you think I could scrambled mi A2 lite so MiFlash cannot recognize it as a mi A2 lite anymore?
The only different think I did was interrupting my first flasing try using ^C when it was frozen.
I made 2 other tries after this with no errors. The only problem was the never ending boot.
My next try will be using image v10.0.18.0, the one I had installed before all this problems begin.

mismatched image and device error when MiFlashing image.
There are some sugestions about erasing the first 2 lines in flashing script ( where the daisy ROM is cheched in the image and the hardware) and flash again.
I am not sure this is a good idea. I'm affraid things could become worse.
But I am sure there is a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite writen in the phone box and the image I used was daisy_global_images_V10.0.13.0.PDLMIXM_20190813.0000.00_9.0_5d0d486f04

If you're sure your device is daisy - Mi A2 Lite, you can delete the first line of the .sh or .bat to skip verification. Simplest way to verify your device is indeed Mi A2 Lite is checking the back cover of the phone and seeing the androidone logo there. If the logo is there go on with the procedure of deleting the first line of the code, then flashing it. Never interrupt the flashing process as it may cause the device's hardware to fail afterwards. I'd suggest using 10.0.13.0 for flashing as that one is the latest ROM that's provided as full version by Xiaomi. If you're still using Linux/MacOS to flash the firmware, I had an issue before on my Mac that didn't let me flash the stock ROM: flash_all.sh was wrongly formatted, so I had to add "./" (dot slash without the quotation marks) to the beginning of every line in the code that began with "fastboot" to make it work.
TL;DR : If device is daisy and you're on Windows, delete the first line and try again. If device is daisy and you're on Linux/MacOS, add "./" in front of every line that starts with "fastboot" in flash_all.sh

Yes, there is the androidone logo in the back.
I had to interrupt the flashing the very first time because it stop before end like frozen.
You say I can damaged the hardware doing this?

Yes the flash storage on the phone can be damaged just by interrupting the flashing process, especially while EDL flashing. So make sure you kill other unnecessary processes on your PC before you start flashing so it does not hang again.

Now I know the reason of mismatching. All the scripts bundled with Xiaomi_Mi_A2_Lite_V10.0.13.0.PDIMIXM_20190807.0000.00_Global_9.0_XFT are made for jasmine. I will find another image more trustworthy than this one.

for others having the same probem I've learn in another thread that this error is issued because I did not choose the lock option below right of MiFlash tool. That is why it didn't catch the lock checkpoint. But the end of the message is not true because at this checkpoint, the flashing is already done. I simply turn the phone off and on again and the boot was normal.
Thanks for all that help me specially marstonpear.
