Hello All,
Can anyone give me the solution for my below problems
Number of Users searching solution for XZ2 Compact Volte and Wifi Calling
I have Sony XZ2 Compact Dual Version
I live in India and here only XZ2 Released, no official released Xz2 Compact Version, after lots of R&D I have managed Volte, Wifi Calling, using XZ2's Oem*.sin file flash to XZ2 Compact but after this, I am facing 3 Problems
1)Didn't get any OTP
2)Device Restart when Change Data connection between two sims
3)Color Enhancement(Sony High Color Option), whatever Option I select but no any change (Settings-Display-Quality)Neither Super vivid nor Standard work, screen lose color quality
If I Flash original Oem*.sin than everything working fine
File Name - oem_X-FLASH-CUST-B6B5.sin
I tried almost Every country OEM file but no Result, If I flashed XZ2 Compact file than work fine but no Volte, Wifi Calling
Now I am deciding to root and push modem_config but there are lots of rumors if I root Sony Devices like DRM, Sony Software Support will lose permanent
So is there any way to edit modem config without root, or if I root than possible to unroot again, I don't have a problem if warranty void but not want to lose software support, can we edit *.sin file and reflash?
I knew which modem entry have to push but why screen resolution weak
Or can you make any package that is flashable?
if I unlock bootloader than what I will lose Permanent
After Root possible to Stock Unroot again?
Please help me in this matter, how to sort out

With unlocking you will lose Sony backup & restore, ota, this video enhancement and the Sony apps.
Maybe Bluetooth access to a Sony controller and screen casting, too.
Unlocking is required for any phone modification without .sin files.
I just flash XZ2 Oem*.sin file, I lost Video Enhancement, even bootloader locked
if I flash Xz2 Compact than working fine, can I do something setting without flashing get Volte and Wifi Calling, my aim is to get Volte and wifi calling only
but why Video enhancement, any reason
Possible downgrade without Root?
Bootloader Relock Possible?
@Martin : I was not able to install XZ2 Compact German Edition Firmware but was able to install Canada, USA , German edition stuck at bootloop
, can you tell me what would be the problem

No bootloader relock
Downgrade require fullwipe
Maybe a fullwipe fixes your German edition bootloop
(If you flashed the entire German firmware, not only oem; if you only flashed oem please try to flash the entire firmware first)

Just flash a Oreo version with newflasher and don't remove the userdata.sin.
That's all.
Or use emma and choose Oreo if available there.

I am a little confused about two files
1)persist.sin - what contains this file, whenever I flashed only this file ask for overerwright but still I didn't do always skip
2)Now If I am downgrade than which file should use - 51.fsc or 52.fsc
Without Root Downgrade Possible ??

There are various configuration settings
But it also may delete your persist keys
Some apps may use it as an indicator if the phone got unlocked. (Will complain even with locked bootloader)
51 should be oreo
Downgrade via sin files doesn't require root !!!

I Skipped persist.sin because I think it contains DRM key, TA partition like, so if I wipe out than might be I will lose Video enhancement and sony benefits because i didn't get persist.sin file details

it contains SOMC FIDO Key & SOMC Attest key iirc, flashing persist.sin would damage their device analogues.
And btw try NOT to downgrade with newsflasher and use EMMA instead. Also always flash vbmeta if you want to modify your system

Thanks, Gray for Info, Now will not Touch Persist.sin anyhow
My aim is how to get Volte and Wifi Calling, but the problem is after flashing Oem*.sin(XZ2) file I have got desire Result but lost Super Vivid mode and OTA too
I did One Experiment, Flash XZ2 Entire Firmware(try to avoid Super vivid, OTA issue) except for Persist.sin, successfully installed but am not able to touch anything screen unresponsive than again flash original(XZ2 Compact) and working now, can you tell me which file should not flash(from XZ2) or which file should pick with Oem so I can get Super vivid too
My Device - XZ2 Compact Dual
OEM working file XZ2 Dual
I compared two Cells all firmware files, most of the files are same except some files not match with Size only
Last Question - Is it possible to lose DRM key with locked bootloader, how to take DRM backup
Also always flash vbmeta if you want to modify your system - How can edit without any Root

Super Vivid mode can be recovered after flashing eXistenZ. Just checked that, it 100% works. Find it at Xperia XZ2 thread.
This and any other method will require unlocked bootloader, keep that in mind. Absolutely recommended :^)

No, it's not possible, and it's not possible to back them up rn. But don't worry, you'll not need them

I have unlocked it the day I bought it. If you'll unlock it on Pie you won't get any troubles except for OTA. Which is basically only security patches, sooo... It's nothing great, really. But bl unlocking gives you a LOT of possibilities for you and your phone

That's only my guess, but I think DRM features are connected with the signature of a ROM itself. So if you flash OEM from XZ2 or another region - it drops any DRM feature. Consider unlocking bootloader

Taken from [Tutorial] Xperia S/P/U/Sola Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking and modified slightly for the ion. I take no credit for this tutorial.
Quick tutorial for unlocking & relocking the bootloader of the Xperia ion.
This is the official way to unlock bootloader
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. SDCARD will NOT BE WIPED!!!
DRM keys WILL be lost forever
Why should I unlock the bootloader?
You can flash custom ROMs/Kernels.
You don't need to worry if the new firmware can be rooted or not as with unlocked bootloader you can always ROOT your device.
SE/Sony gives sneak-peaks/preview builds of latest OS which requires unlocked bootloaders, as they did with Xperia 2011 line (they had ICS alpha/beta), so who knows may be SE/Sony may give early builds of ICS (JellyBean???)
Most of this is taken from lollylost100's his tutorial from ARC thread (all credits for that concise tutorial go to him, i have elaborated on a few things and added device specific changes)
[ Before we begin unlocking bootloader ]
Get the IMEI code for your device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits (no dashes)
Download the fastboot package with usb drivers (alternate drivers if the ones in package dont work)
Make sure u have a windows PC with USB cable to connect the phone
Power down your phone and keeping the Volume Up button pressed connect the USB cable to PC this will trigger FASTBOOT mode and windows will start driver installation, extract the above package and point the driver install to that location (usb_driver) folder
Once drivers are installed just disconnect cable and power on device
[ how to unlock ] (official way)
Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and read everything!
At the bottom click 'Start Unlocking the Bootloader'
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the phone dial pad and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Click to collapse
After you have verified that you can unlock bootloader, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Continue"
You will get "Are you sure prompt" accept it by clicking "yes i am sure" (i assume that you have read an understood it)
Then accept the "legal terms"
Finally you will get a "Create Unlock request" page, enter your IMEI (sometimes the last digit needs to be removed for this to work), name and email address
You should now receive your unique unlock key, its displayed on screen, SAVE THIS KEY SAFELY
Extract fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar and open fastboot folder
Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder
Select 'Open command window here'
Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable) [make sure drivers are installed as explained above)
In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which you received earlier.
Your device should now be bootloader unlocked
If this tutorial is too much for you then itskapil wrote a step-by-step guide (and recorded a video also):
-Instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to...-play-neo-pro/
-Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRH3pC7MhEA
(the above videos and some steps are for Xperia 2011 devices, but most the steps are same for Xperia ion)
Info on Relocking bootloader is in next post
Relocking bootloader
RELOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET NEWEST UPDATES & REPAIR DEVICE USING SEUS/PCC
Before we begin relocking the bootloader make sure that u have flashtool download & installed
You can get the latest version of FlashTool from:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download link is under "Installation" tab
If you have not use FlashTool before read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
Download this FTF:
Xperia ion -> LT28-ION_Relock_bootloader_Dogsly-TEST.ftf // Mirror 1
Flash this FTF via FlashTool:
When it says enter flashmode, power down device and keeping VOLUME DOWN button pressed connect usb cable to phone, the device will now enter flashmode (green LED)
After this file is flashed reboot phone
Bootloader will now be relocked!!!
Incase device doesn't boot DO NOT PANIC... You can flash stock firmware FTF anytime to get back to stock ROM
P.S.: there is no official way to relock bootloader
So because my phone says I can't unlock the bootloader, does that mean I can never unlock the bootloader? Or do I have to wait to be able to root it first?
PS: I got my ion from Best Buy so is that why? Will I ever be able to unlock the BL ? I've rooted and unlocked my x10, back in the old days lol but I'm just wondering if there's any difference with getting a phone from at&t directly or from the sony store and best buy.

Have to wait to see if another way to unlock the bootloader is discovered. Root and unlocking the bootloader are two different things that accomplish or allow different things you can do on the phone.
IE rooting allows you to uninstall system apps & bloatware, backup apps/data, make changes to build.prop etc. Unlocking the bootloader will give you access to fastboot so you can flash custom roms/kernels and other images such as a pre-rooted system image to gain root.
I wonder. If we can not unlock the bootloader for some LT28at, why is there a key to unlock it? I did the Sony bootloader unlock for fun and apparently they have a key for my LT28at even though it says bootloader unlock is not allowed.

tried to unlock it via the sony site and if you did and it was successful have you tried to relock it using the file linked above? Would be nice to know if that works.
Possible fix?
If the LT28i can be unlocked, what if we flash the international firmware on our LT28at's and then do the LT28i method? Maybe a stupid question but this is the first phone I've had that's a challenge to do stuff like unlocking and rooting. My last phone (HTC Aria) was extremely easy.

Kinda figured that
I tried to relock the bootloader. The flash pass but the phone can't turn on after that.
*I reflash the stock kernel again and the phone can power on now.
So here is the result, once you relock bootloader, you need to flash back the stock kernel in other to turn on the phone. Hopefully this will help those people who got stuck after relock bootloader.
Hello guys
I was just wondering, if bootloader unlock or flashing cutom kernel will allow to use sim cards from other mobile operators (European for ex.) ?
I have an ability to buy this device in us through my friend. but Im interested if I would be able to use it in Europe I was thinking of buying xperia p or s, but they dont have microsd card support.
Im not interested in using LTE networks. Just common 2g.
I planning to use it like a second android device as a multimedia player instead of my galaxy s wifi5.0. (because of good sound quality and other features).
Thanx a lot for responses

As it says in the title, I can't install the new software update.
Oddly, I'm still on the latest KitKat because I didn't got the earlier lollipop updates.
If I try to install the new update, it simply reboots and says that the Installation failed, nothing more like an error code or something else.
I don't think that a previous Custom ROM, which I erased with Sony Emma, bothers that, but if it would, there you go.
Here are all the specs:
Model info: D5503
Software version: 14.4.A.0.157
Previous installed ROM: CyanogenMod 12 (not 12.1), erased and stock restored with Sony Emma
Internal Storage free space: 8.3 GB
SD-Card free space: 24.16 GB

I'm having the same problem, I previously tried rooting my Xperia Z1 (C6903) but it is now restored. However when I tried updating to 14.5.a.0.242, it said "The device contains modified software that cannot be updated". Is it because the phone was not restored properly? (I restored by flashing Android 4.4)

No... locked just means restricted access same as a locked door.... but your device needs locked B/L to take an OTA Sony official Stock firmware update.... personally I would never wait for the official release if I have unlocked B/L I would always search and you can find firmware updates a lot quicker than everyone else waiting for the OTA on their device or thru PC Companion,
I use this very handy tool to get available stock firmware for Xperia devices
Relock bootloader only
If you want to relock your bootloader (e.g. for downloading official sony updates in Sony Update Service) you can do so with flashtool. This only works if you already unlocked the bootloader with the official method.
Note: This does not restore the DRM keys. If you have a warranty issue you should restore your TA parition (which will relock your bootloader and restore DRM keys) with Backup TA.
1. Open flashtool
2. Click on the BLU icon
3. Connect your phone in flashmode (hold volume down and plug in your USB cable)
4. Flashtool will ask you about the device model, choose Sony XPERIA Z1 (if Z1 compact is not in the list)
5. Flashtool will read your IMEI and your unlock code. Check if those are correct (compare unlock code with the one you received by email from Sony when you unlocked the bootloader)
6. Flashtool will save the unlock code in its program folder under custom/mydevices.
7. Click "Lock bootloader" (-> If you want to unlock it again, repeat the steps (it will automatically detect that your bootloader is locked))

Is there a reason why you need to relock the BL? According to Sony, there is no way to restore an unlocked BL.
Q: If I change my mind later on, is there any way to restore my device?
A: No. Once you have unlocked the boot loader, you will not be able to revert the device back to a locked or original state or restore the DRM security keys. You can however use the Flash tool for Xperia™ devices to flash a generic Sony ROM, although it will not receive automatic software upgrades.

Thanks but the Z5P does not come up as a supported device for the flash tool yet, so I guess the answer is no

You can relock it using flashtool. Just choose Xperia Z5 when the device window appears. I've already tried it, works like a charm.
Not sure if you can relock it without the back up drm keys. Since there isn't a backup program yet I would assume you've already lost the drm keys. I'm afraid you won't be to revert back to the same. Camera quality and x reality will be affected.

OK i have found flashtool and click the x, but when when the device reboots and the device chooser comes up, there is no z5p to choose from so just to confirm we use z5, correct?

Some important things before you attempt the relock:
The DRM keys will not be restored after the relock.
You have to reflash the entire firmware or just flash the stock kernel before relocking the bootloader.
The phone should be on stock kernel, if you try to relock it with custom kernel the phone might brick.
Click BLU in flashtool and follow the instructions.

Turn off the mobile.
Press the BLU button in flashtool.
Press the volume down button of your mobile and connect it to the PC.
A pop up window will open, select Xperia Z5 (Z5P is not listed yet).
Another window will open, if you see Relock, press it, the bootloader will be relocked.
Let the process be over, then restart the mobile.

Relocking Bootloader
I had to unlock my device's bootloader to downgrade it to marshmallow because of the WiFi issue in Nougat, so i did it and didn't backed up the DRM keys(i didn't knew i am supposed to do it. It wasn't mentioned in the tutorial i was following or i missed it). Anyways now i am on marshmallow and i am unable to update it VIA xperia companion. It complains that bootloader is unlocked. Now if i lock the bootloader will xperia companion will work ? What is the affect of the lost DRM keys ? And if anyone knows the WiFi issue is sovled or not ?

Can confirm I did the same thing and forgot the keys (new to Sony devices vs. Google). IF you use the XDA FlashTool, you can re-lock the bootloader and Xperia Companion will recognize for a Factory reset of your device.

Did you restore the DRM keys from Xperia Companion or at least retrieve all the functions that DRM related (Xreality, Bravia engine ... )
I unlocked my bootloader, then I replace my boot image and recovery image.
Here's the problem:
I didn't back up.
the device can't detect my SIM card, I try another boot.img, the SIM card is detected, but no sound output.
Emma isn't working, flashtool by Androxyde didn't have a "G3426" selection.
I can't find any TFT file for my device, and can't find a boot.img for my device.
If my problem can be fixed by flashing a new boot.img, how can I get it?
If can't, what is the solution?

You've a problem so.
You've lost DRM keys*, so you won't be able anymore to:
- use display enhancements (Bravia engine, etc.; You will see them as enabled, but they won't work)
- some audio enchantments (audio will be worse; same)
- camera enchantments (low light photos, zoom, etc.; Same)
- login to Xperia services and so on
- backup your phone with Sony's app to Google
- and many others....
*DRM keys are keys (series of numbers) that are used by Sony to activate some Xperia features. They cannot be fixed on your phone (only if you have Z3, Z4, Z5) and cannot be generated. Only assistance can do something.
And you cannot do anything for all of this, neither if you will use repair software.
What I would do if I were you:
- relock bootloader with flashtool
- repair software with Xperia companion (you will be able to use your Sim)
- send your phone to assistance telling them you've lost DRM keys
- wait
- pay (80% probable, cause it's outside of the warranty)
- done
... Or buy another phone.
Hope could be helpful

But I can't
- relock bootloader with flashtool ( No stock kernel, cannot be verified when booting)
- repair software with Xperia companion (you will be able to use your Sim)[Cos I unlocked my bootlocker]
By the way, I found a TFT file. But I can't flash it with the flash tool.
So I extract it and found a folder called "firmware"
Should I replace my firmware in my mobile with those?

Hehe there's a trick to flash with flashtool without verification!
- uninstall your flashtool
- download from flashtool website THE PREVIOUS VERSION that doesn't verify anything on boot and install
- enjoy
If you relock bootloader you would be able to repair software
The folder is C://users/your name/.flashtool
I don't have a PC now, but if I remember well there's a folder like firmwares or something similar. If you don't find it, download a random firmware with flashtool (obviously don't install it) and watch where there's the ftf inside the aforementioned folder
PS hit like if it was helpful, more people will find it

All I need not is the kernel. It's not the problem with the firmware.

As told before, just relock bootloader with flashtool, you should be able to do that with the previous version of flashtool, as told before.
After that, go to Xperia companion and repair software. It will solve all, cause it flashes everything (boot, recovery, etc.)

Ahem... I didn't understand what you said...
If I understood correctly, you shouldn't have problems, because "repair software" downloads the firmware, the boot, the recovery and so on from Sony servers

The SIM card isn't working.
It's about the boot.img (I guess so)
I can't repair mobile(unlocked)
I can't relock it(no stock boot.img)
If I relock it anyway (I tried it), it can't boot and shows"This device can't be verified, power off after 5 second"
I copied all the firmware correctly (with twrp file manager)
Nothing changes.

When you said "If I relock it anyway" did u do it? If yes, power the phone down and connect it to pc JUST PRESSING VOLUME DOWN (no power button) with "repair software" opened up. If the software will find your phone, just repair, else press "device not found", it will do a deep scan into your USB ports.

I can't dump my boot.img without root... Fewer developers support G3426...
I can't even boot into TWRP with my stock boot image...

Since it's an -05 variant, with retbr, and has had pie flashed in some form I'd try flashing retbr pie firmware.

It might not correct your problem, not sure how much of a mess is going on there, but this will be a good starting point. Just pay attention to what is going on and what (if any) errors you receive.

No. You just need to sign into google on your phone to enable oem unlocking. Might try pairing bluetooth to get a connection if possible. Might try using the lenovo moto smart tool to see if it'll do a rescue on it. With a locked bootloader typically you can only flash official signed firmware that is either the version or newer. Again, depending on what kind of mess you've got there you might not get anything to flash.
