Hi Gang
Is everyone aware that active Google hotword detection works on this phone? eg. "Ok Google" detected during screen off. Too cool!
You just need to turn on "Lock screen personal details" under voice match else it'll ask you to unlock your phone when you make certain requests such as "Play "x" on spotify".

Please could you give further details on how to do this

When I first got this phone "Ok Google" worked fine with Nova and also the stock launcher (not with Apex), but it has since stopped working.
My Settings are:
Google Now - ON
Voice Language - English (US)
Speech Output - ON
Audio History - ON
"Ok Google" Detection from Google search app - ON
"Ok Google" Detection from any screen - ON
When I turn on that last setting it takes me to a calibration screen where I have to say "Ok Google" three times, but it doesn't even detect me saying it at all. When I manually open the google search app, voice is detected just fine
The microphone in the Google search widget stays hollowed out constantly (it's supposed to be filled when "Ok Google" is available)
I have all my apps including my launchers updated.
What the hell is going on? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Mine is set up the same way, but doesn't have the box filled in saying OK Google but still works fine :/

Exact same problem here. It's not even working in the calibration screen. It used to work fine. Did you resolve this yet?
Yes, When I updated the software to the latest available (10g) Ok Google started working Ok.

Thanks. I solved my issue also. I had one of the pressy type buttons inserted in the headphone jack. The case I have covers it up pretty well and I haven't messed with it in a long time. I use it mostly as a dust plug. When I reimaged back to stock yesterday the play store didn't restore the button app since it was an apk that I installed manually. When the app isn't installed the phone thinks a headphone set with mic is installed and the phone mic is turned off. I feel dumb now.

I think you meant LS "OSP", but yeah, that's what did it for me as well.

"Ok Google" is not working for me on a rooted D851 with 10m firmware. I have tried to enable it and the calibration screen where I am supposed to say "Ok Google" 3 times never responds to my voice.
I'm running Nova Launcher which is also supposed to enable this feature from any screen. But that is not working. I've tried disabling the Nova Launcher setting...does not work with or without Nova Launcher's "Ok Google" setting turned on.
"Ok Google" does not even work from the Google search screen.
So....what is this LS OSP or LG ONP or LG OSP setting / feature I need to disable? Can't find any reference to those 3 or where to disable it.

OSP is On Screen Phone. It came with the LG G2, but for some reason not the G3. There was a work around to install it on the G3 (if you were rooted) but it ended up disabling the "OK Google" feature. Seems like removing the OSP app fixed it.
If you do not have OSP installed, you are likely having another issue.

Soooo did anybody get a real answer on how to fix the ok google on the g3
Hi everyone, is there any way to activate the google now "ok google" detection with screen locked (like nexus devices)? It would be really useful to use phone "hands free" in car!
Thanks in advance
Go to google now settings, enable "ok google" detection from any screen and trusted voice. Go to settings/display/lock screen/smart lock and make sure trusted voice is enabled there.
Now plug your phone into car charger or power bank and you're good to go. "OK Google" on lock screen works only when the device is charging.
It doesn't seem HTC enabled the "OK Google" listening when the phone is off nor when the screen is on. I use that funcationality a lot and was wondering if anyone knew a way to turn it on manually? It seems it's disabled in the Google App.
I'm able to use "ok google" when the screen is on, but not when screen is off. I think that is kept for Nexus devices? Make sure you check "From any screen" in google voice setting.
Yep, this is not a function that the non-nexus phones do, with very few exceptions.
Unlike more recent phones (like say my Nokia 8) I am UNABLE to get my trusty daily driver, the P2, to wake up when the screen is off even though I have "Voice Match with Screen Off" activated in the Google Assistant settings. The screen HAS to be on (pressing home button, double tap, etc...) for the "OK Google" command to work and then it will correctly unlock the phone with my voice.
Has anyone found a workaround for this (forcing microphone to stay on somehow? or am I maybe missing an obvious setting on the P2 ? Thanks !

It can only be done with screen on however, you can activate google assistant in screen off when your phone is being charged.
ok I suppose that's a limitation of our older phone...Actually I think the "listen while charging" option was the old "Ok Google", the Google Assistant doesn't have that anymore as I can tell.

Older phone? Nah, keeping mic on all the time costs battery and and this is dependent on the manufacturer and chipset which decide the features set. Droid Maxx was even older phone but it had that feature because it had a separate low power core for listening to OK Google Now.
Right, it's just that now most (all ?) phones would have that enabled.
I couldn't find an app to force the MIC to stay on but with "WaveUp", you can wave your hand above the sensor to turn on the screen and then use "OK Google".

And this is perfect explanation.
Is anyone really willing to be monitored by Google all the time ?
So, on the official rom 12.5.1. I was able to wake Google Assistant when the screen is off. But now that I'm on Xiaomi EU. That doesn't seem to work anymore.
Is there a way to make it work ?
PS: I'm on Xiaomi eu 12.5.4 (stable)
have you tried searching for 'assistant'? if it's available, choose Assistant settings/lock screen

I don't remember mentioning anything about Lock Screen!
I am talking about waking Google Assistant when THE SCREEN IS OFF.

You should enable "Unlock with Voice Match" in security setting. I'm not sure MIUI will allow this option.

"Unlock with Voice Match" applies to Lock Screen. I have no problem waking Google Assistant from Lock Screen.
I want to wake it when the Screen is off. Like when my phone is away and I just say "Ok Google" and it starts listening.
I have same problem too
I want to disable it instead! it bothers me that every time I talk to my google nest hub the phone also turns on and then gets stuck on the lock screen without going back to turning off and going to AOD ... how to do it?
