Transfer user apps and data - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

how do i transfer my apps and data from my old rooted phone to 7t without twrp recovery and without root?

You can try Helium app, but I think the only soluion is Titanium Backup with rooted phone

Only root
Swift Backup is another very smart backup solution - of course it needs root.
You should anyway root your Oneplus 7T. Is working fine with my european version HD1903.

To transfer your apps and data from your old rooted phone to 7t, the easy and safe way is using mobile phone transfer program. With its help, you can transfer data like app, contacts, sms, music, photos, videos, books, call logs from your old phone to 7t directly from computer via usb cable or wifi connecting. You don't need to root your phones while using it.

[Q] Apps backup via Rom Toolbox Pro

hey!
I have been unable to find a solution to my problem by search. Please help me or link me to the solution, if its been answered.
My brother has Gnex and is on 4.2.1. He has rom toolbox pro installed and used it to backup apps (his device is also rooted). Now from the root browser in the app, there is App Manager folder and inside the apps are backed up in a folder. Now, when I plug the phone in, the folder is not visible at all. How do I transfer those apps to the computer? Do I really need to transfer them because my bro wants to flash CM 10.0.0 instead of using pure android 4.2.1 .
Thanks for your help.
If you are changing the ROM then I recommend a full-wipe so Yes you need to backup your apps in order to restore them later. If this is all you need then use Titanium Backup instead. It will make a folder on /sdcard/ which you can easily transfer to your PC afterwards.
I haven't used ROM Toolbox at all but if you can determine the location of the "App Manager" folder you are talking about then probably you will get some help on how to transfer it to PC although I suggest using Titanium Backup to backup your apps

That is a problem with Windows and MTP I believe. I've had the same problem with other folders on my 'sdcard' and windows now showing them. You can use adb to pull them from your device. I actually like that a lot better and use it to transfer my sdcard contents to/from my computer. Also, there is no reason to worry about getting them on your pc just to flash a different rom. With any custom rom, your sdcard will not be wiped unless you do so yourself in recovery. Just do a factory reset from within recovery before installing a different rom like CM10.

Patter Forgotten... Can't Access Settings file

Hello,
I have an HTC One X with loads of data as it had internal memory of 32 GB. Recently one of the kids in my house kept attempting pattern and it got locked. I have the option to sign in through gmail which I did but to no avail probably as my phone is not connected to any wifi. How can I access my phone without losing data? If I wipe cache or factory reset will that remove data on my phone? Is there any way I can do this without losing data? IT is NOT rooted.
I have found out about ADB and sqlite but I don't know how to use them plz explain anyone. I need your help
Some of your data is likely saved in the cloud, like contacts and hangouts chat. If you were only able to install a custom recovery, you could transfer all your data.

No it's not saved anywhere that's the issue. I would need to have to use a tool to do that which I think is not possible.

[Q] Full Backup

Hi all,
I have to make a full backup of my M8.
I want to save, easy-going and at the option of restore all my data after an hard reset, all application and savegames.
I want to restore, automatically, all apps after the first boot and then I want to "copy" the savegames...
1. If I copy all data stored on both memory, will I copy all savegames and cache, right?
2. If it's wrong, what I have to do?
3. HTC Backup/Google Drive Backup can be useful for my aim?
The photos, audios, videos are on MicroSd, and the contacts are on my Google Account.
3. There is anything else to backup?
Thank you in advance,
.Fè

Just do a backup in recovery. Save it to your extSD.
Stock phone, or rooted/modded?

If your personal photos and videos are only saved to your removable SD, than they are not backed up. Even if on the phone's internal storage and backed up to removable SD; I'd still recommend to also back these up off-phone. Either simply by periodically copying them to a computer, or using cloud solutions (which also have the option to backup your photos automatically).
This ^^^^
Never trust only your phone, or SD card to keep your stuff safe.
First af all, thank u everyone.
I don't have a rooted/modded phone, then I can't go in recovery mode and made a full backup.
Then, I've to hard reset my phone, but I want to save anywhere (I have a lots of space on Google Drive) my data, especially savegames, photos and videos...
For the videos and photos, I think that a simple upload to my Cloud could resolve the problem...but, how to save savegames? What are the folder that I have to backup?
Can I use the HTC account/Google Drive account to make a backup of my phone? Is it safe?
After restoring, How can I download, automatically, just the apps that are installed today on my phone?
Thank you
I actually have no idea how HTC Backup works, or if its capable of doing what you want (backing up app data like game saves). I've used Titanium Backup (root required) and nandroids for so long, I never tried HTC Backup.
But I've seen Helium suggested on XDA for non-rooted users to backup app data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
Again, I haven't personally used it. But its made by the same dev is Clockworkmod, which is saying something.

Thank you...I'm sure I will analyze Helium and I will try it...I've already heard about it but I haven't tried it yet
Damn...I have an issue with the USB connector and I can't connect my phone to the pc...Now, I can't use Helium because I don't have root and I must connect my phone to pc...

Was this an existing issue you knew about, or something you just discovered? Reason I ask, is that majority of USB connectivity issues are due to drivers on the PC, USB spec on the PC(USB 3.0 doesn't play well), or bad cable.
Or do you know for fact the USB port on the phone is damaged?

I have this issue from 3/4 days, maybe, because I've tested a bad charger with my phone. Now I've slow charge and I can't connect my phone to the pc...
Now, I want to make a backup before send my phone to the assistance..
First of all, I've copied all data from the internal memory to the external one and I will backup all data on the external memory.
Now, I can try to go to "Account and ..." and make a Backup on both HTC Account and Google Account. Savegames doesn't matter by now...

How do you restore app data without usb & without root?

I have an s4 (rooted) and I usually use titanium for my backup/restore when I get a new device. I obviously can't do that (since there is no root yet on 5x) and I don't have a usb-c to usb cable so I cant do something like helium.
How are you guys restoring everything?
(androids built in restore is suck... it only did 8 apps, ha).
You can try using Helium to do this, it doesn't require root access. I'm not sure how it will work with the 5x though since it is encrypted by default
I tried it... The problem with helium is - it does not let me backup lot of apps saying that the app developer is not allowing data backups.
You could try linking a drop box account in Helium. Problem is you need the desktop app and a cable if your phone isn't rooted.
Without root, you can't override the manifest setting that determines if the app data can be backed up. So a lot of apps that contain sensitive data won't allow for data backups. Frustrating for sure, but the alternative is to root the device. Of course doing that requires unlocking the bootloader, which wipes everything anyhow. Chicken & egg scenario.

How can I transfer my data (app data) from my Redmi to my 5T?

I have tried everything from using the OnePlus Clone Tool, the google restore tool and even using the adb backup/restore to try and transfer my files from my Redmi to my 5T but they all don't transfer the app data. I have about 30GB of app data and to use Google Restore Tool to restore each app seems like a lifetime activity. I checked my Redmi Backup and it's able to backup the app data to my local machine. So I wanted to find out if it's possible to transfer this backup to my 5T or it's impossible?
Only way I know of to reliably transfer apps + data is with tools like Migrate or Swift Backup, but they both need root.

Ok. What about manual transfer? Shouldn't it be possible to copy files from one folder to the next?
No idea where this Redmi Backup saves files to, and which format they'll be in. But I doubt you'll be able to simply copy them over, chances are that app uses it's own file type.
Maybe ask in your Redmi device forum? Someone there might know what type those files are.
