I am running a Tmobile New S9 Only on Metro PCS for 1.5 years , [which is now Metro by Tmobile ] .
It was purchased new and never used on Tmobile.
1]Works great SM960U.
2]Still running Android 8.0 [ G960USQU1ARBG ]
I never' updated 'kept original factory software .
3]Security patch and software from Feb 18 2018
PROBLEM- Now I see aggressive full page Alerts for a new download from Tmobile in the phone overnight with options to install now or tomorrow .
IF I had touched bottom of phone by mistake
it would have loaded .
I clicked away from it .
How do I stop it ?
Start the download and shut off the phone ?
On a much earlier download , I clicked by mistake and did that with no ill effects -except stuck in notification window.
BUT this one keeps coming back as full screen takeover once a week or so .
Not compatible with Android 8.0 probably.
Don't want it , don't want Android 9.0 phone works great now.
Any ideas ? Thanks.

So I bought an used S9 plus Duos, inside its G965F...software info, build number its also G965F,, outside on the back G965F made in Vietnam,,, i discovered that's there is root and its on February security patch i tried to unroot it using Odin,,,the where i discovered its G965N!!!! Tried to continue by downloading official g965N firmware (pie 9) ... when the device restarted after using odin the phone working or showing just one sim even it was working just fine and even I used pie firmware its went back to oreo!!!
Plz ... Biiiig plz I need advices and solutions,,, I want to clean the root, I want to get updates ... and I want to get both of sim 1 and sim 2 work

I just bought a used Samsung S9 in Pakistan..The phone is working perfectly fine..but I found a catch in it..
In the settings the model no of the phone is g960w..But when I checked the imei no of the phone online It showed the phone is of model G960u.
now I am concered, that will I receive ota updates on a phone which is flashed to a differnt frimware...
The phone came with january security patch installed ..but I havent received the feburary security patch nor the Android Q update.
Kindly tell me will I get the updates or not..if not how can install them manually..

I just tried to update my new phone to a version above 12.0.8 (android 10) but no succes.
Security patch date still 2020-12-01 !!!
So i've decided to go for a custom rom.
... and now xiaomi let me wait 168 hours before i can go any further ?
Is there an unlocked bootloader avaiable to get past this ?
I hope instalking a custom rom will go smoother and faster

No. You must wIt one week before tou be able to unlock bootloader. That's Xiaomi policy

All i can say is that It's not user friendly to let us stay at a security patch date from more than 1 year old ... 2020-12-01.
just wiped the hole thing and hoped that this would do the trick and do the ota update as it should ... but no go .
I can't believe the waiting time policy and especially when i'm on this very old security patch !
My hands are tight and i will wait the time out (i can't really do ANYTHING else) , but i'm VERY DISSAPOINTED in Xiaomi right now
Hello i had the native video calling working with tmobile , and the last security update screwed it up . Also i belive my rcs is not functiong properly . I used the alliance shield x work around , ut after latest update cant get in to the settings , no way of getting to the ims setting. Any ideas on how to get it working . Im stock , no root , etc . TIA

I just retrieved an ' old ' Galaxy S9+ G9600 , I suppose it's the chinese version .
It's still under Android 7.0, and wanted to improve it and upgrade it to newer OS .
I already did the " OEM Unlock " thing, but I'm stuck at CROM .
The " Galaxy Apps " application won't work under my phone, as this app seems no longer supported, so I cannot download it from here .
I have downloaded different versions from internet, but still, CROM app won't install .
Is there anyone that can help me with that problem ?
