Both October and November patches for Sprint didn't mention any camera improvements, did you receive any?
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

I took the update then re entered my fingerprints. It appears to be working much better. Time will tell if it stays that way.

accidentally took the update on my n976v also lol.. there goes my testing.. looks like gonna move back to g975u testing

Received this morning upon waking. I haven't re input my fingerprints yet, but even at that, iit seems y to be working a little quicker than even with the patch they rolled out.. Verizon N10+ carrier version..
Sent from my Note 10+ using Tapatalk

Seems like all carriers pushed it out. It was waiting on my Verizon 10+ this morning as well. I was pretty shocked.
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

Got it too! And wow all carriers pushed it out simultaneously? Maybe Android is finally changing for the better!

YOU CAN NOT ROLL BACK TO PREVIOUS OS VERSIONS!!
Yup. Received a feature update yesterday with camera improvements on my U1. Then got this update this morning. It's just a security patch BUT PLEASE NOTE!!! This moves you up to bootloader v2. You can NOT roll back to previous versions.
This also tells me the Android 10 beta will have a v2 bootloader when it's pushed, otherwise we wouldn't be able to install it.

In my experience, about every two weeks, the FP sensor gets mega wonky and won't recognize my prints. So I have to re-enter them. Then it works like butter, but slowly degrades in performance for a couple weeks until it's wonky again.

I've got 4 updates on my Note 10+ in the 7 weeks I've had it. Never had so many updates on a device in such a short time and I own a OP6T and P2XL
Maybe we'll be getting Android 10 with One UI 2.0 before the new year. It definitely seems companies are finally pushing updates like they should. We pay a lot of money for these devices so it's good to know they are being supported better these days.

Only in certain regions...
They roll out in waves but certain regions seem to get priority over others...
Kinda sucks balls being on the end of the list and waiting 2 months for an update or feature the forums are all talking about a month or 2 in advance....
Even worse when a security threat is found and we are stuck in limbo wondering if we are gonna get an update soon to fix that which has been found...

For me it's the opposite. Seems like the more I use FP the better it gets. When registering I alternate each thumb every press.

Hey, Butchie. I may have to try that. Been getting frustrated with it. Id say it's my Whitestone Dome screen protector, but literally when I first register the prints, it works smooth as butter. Couple weeks later and it's like it doesn't recognize my prints at all.

Anyone know of an Odin ASJ8 for U version in case we want to roll back to Pie?

Plenty of copies around. Venom has one posted on androidfilehost. Sammobile has one. They are present and handy. In fact, flash the csc from it AfTER you are on the beta to get back your carrier features.

T-Mobile USA LP OTA

Has ANYONE gotten it yet? I feel like I've been reading "You should get the OTA any day now" stories online for a couple months now, and still NOTHING! I am curious if ANYONE has actually gotten it that's on T-Mobile in the US.

You can rest assured that if it were available there would be a version of it posted here on xda. When it is it will be on here within moments of the devs getting their hands on it or anyone for that matter.
Have you read the correct ones vause what ive seen says that us carriers wont start pushing anything till almost march
The Galaxy S5 got the lollipop 5.0 update in the USA. Thanks LG, while you're busy releasing the update for users in Nigeria, the enthusiasts in the USA are still stuck on KitKat... mine boggling......
Sent from my LG-D851
I'd not LG's fault. In the US the carriers test the software, have LG put their own software on the phone and then test done more. They are the cause if the delay, and with T-mobile they at have Wi-Fi calling so probably even more delay to test that.
Good to know, but I was wondering because I was going back to stock, but course leaving it rooted, but then there was an update. Was that the update that we're all waiting for? or is it just a minor update I think I saw something like 247MB don't know if thats correct but I was going to unroot my phone just to get that update, but thats not Lollipop right?
Alrighty then so... Thanks T-mobile....
Sent from my LG-D851
I think that tweet from LG USA was designed to put pressure on the carriers to hasten the release. Unfortunately for LG this may backfire on them. Most people think phone manufactueres are responsible for timely release of updates. US carriers need to add their bloatware and wi-fi calling in T-mobiles case to the new update. LG's part is done. Call your local branches and bug the crap out of them.
What is so great about lollipop? Xposed doesnt work with it among other things. I would not update even if it was available right now.

Just saw news , sprint is getting on Feb 16. We might get before that
So I flashed my phone back to the M version for our phone and did the OTA to R. It said the R update is only available until Feb. 10 so it'll probably be shortly after that.
Id think thay would be a fair assesment. So before mar 1 we could plan to see a roll out or at least definite word

I would think this means the update is hitting phones on the 10th or 11th. Normally they keep the old update rolling until they hot swap with the new one. I would imagine only hours of downtime for updates if they don't hot swap. Then again some people still haven't received the ota notification yet... Who knows?

Sorry to kill the hype, but afaik that date doesn't mean anything.

And OTA rolls out in stages, that's why not everyone is getting the OTA notification.
HTC M8 is getting it on the 8th, so in this case the date mentioned sounds like it could be true

And yet there is no ETA for lollipop on the S5 (as for T-mobile variant). Judging the ETA for update for the LG G3 from the update intended for another device from another manufacturer is very immature.
Don't get me wrong, I would want 5.0 on my G3 asap, but I just want to point our that that date is irrelevant, just as the post from AP I linked suggested.

OTA Update 6/22/16

I am currently downloading the new set OTA. I saw someone else said it's just a security update, but the file I'm currently downloading is 1.6GB. Seem rather large for a security update?

I am downloading that as well. it's been an hour and the download is 1/2 way done. No where in the news does ATT mention either SW update OR a security patch.. Hope I am not disappointed after this..

This is it. It's been confirmed on multiple sites. I have yet to download it. I'm still on PE5

None yet. But there's nothing else it could plausibly be. It's 1.4GB, the same size as our MM sideloads. Security updates have been under 100MB.

The combination of an OEM known for being slow with updates (Samsung) and a carrier that's even worse, sad to say. A shame, really. The Note5 is an excellent phone all around. In truth AT&T is worse to deal with than the the the manufacturers themselves.

Well that takes all the fun out of things in my opinion. You're gonna watch some knucklehead have at it like a drunk girl at a frat party. Half the fun is gaining the experience hacking away at an ADB shell and figuring things out on your own. Damn kids these days.... Get off my lawn.

You are not understanding, I would all day but my phone is a free phone, I cannot modify the phone being in the Insights program, I cannot side load the program. I have a Nexus 6 for real fun, this phone is just my meh phone compared to the Nexus 6.
Also, the guy I deal with at the Samsung Experience probably knows more about android phones than 95% of the users on here, he is an awesome dude. He actually helped me root my first free Note 3 from the Insights program and was able to keep Samsung from seeing it so I would not lose the phone. Samsung has got smart though with the program and can tell now.

If you're already on BPE6, there's nothing to update to. BPE6 is the build that's being offered OTA today to phones that are still on APE3.

Anybody get the OTA yet that wasn't a Beta member?

If nobody has, has anyone heard a timeframe?
Not yet, since Monday and today is Thursday, four days ago 8.0 came out. My Pixel XL came out last year with Nougat so this is the first big Platform Upgrade. I'm trying to remember if my former Nexus 5 took so many days to get a Platform Upgrade.

My understanding from a few articles is that Google is rolling it out and anybody not in the beta program will get it "soon." I have a play store version using a Verizon SIM and I have it check under system update periodically and haven't had it pushed to my phone yet.

They haven't even posted the actual OTA files yet. Most likely cause they(the public OTA release) are not finalized until after the release to beta users to catch any final issues....as they pulled the one they pushed it at first...then resent(signature issues). Quite a few users reporting O issues....so I would say it will be at best a week or 2 before Google works out the bugs and does public OTA.
Not from non-beta OTA, later I joined the beta, and it came.

No OTAs here either, I flashed up from the 7.1.2 August build to the new OPR6 build.
Nothing here either. And like others said, there appear to be some issues with the current release, so I'm in no hurry to upgrade to 8.0. Let them iron out those initial bugs first before they push it to the general public.

I am on the Pixel XL and Nexus 6P with DP4 on both. I received one single ~59MB and ~36MB OTA file on each.
I thought that was really small since all the DP OTAs were ~1GB and so expected a similar size for the stable OTA. Can you share your OTA experience? What was the size and did you receive two files (small+big) as some others are reporting online?

OK so I guess the DP4 to final Android Oreo OTA is ~60MB. Thanks man! I will let other people in parallel forums know about it.
Pixel XL from Google Store/on VZ network (off contract). I was not on the DP but sources advised to sign up, get the OTA, and then unenroll. I did that yesterday and am now on OPR6.170523.012 which is stable and I understand the final. Working fine.

Got the facts from the Pixel forum here.
If you're on the DP4 Android O, it is considered the final Release Candidate so only the smaller OTA is delivered to bring you in line with the stable release of Android Oreo.

I see that that is a way to basically force the OTA to 8.0, but I'm still uncomfortable doing that without any system or OTA images available on the google site. There must be a reason no images have been posted for any carrier. So I'll sit it out for now and I do believe you will get an updated OTA once the images are released. Even though Oreo is "official" I still thinks it's just a later beta with all the issues they're having.

Correct, I have encountered some issues after beta-OTA process, like "Automatic Time Zone" always wrong and hidden wifi not connecting...
I plan to do a factory image flash, if issues persistent, I'll downgrade to 7.1.2 and wait for the real OTA...

This is where I am - now. I never normally do the beta stuff, but this time after Monday's announcement, I got excited and believed all the stories about how you could join the beta, just to get the OTA to the "final" release of 8.0 (I was stock, un-rooted, 7.1.2 on T-Mo). I did it, and it worked just as expected. I was first thrown by the naming convention for the build (OPR......., instead of just "OZKL4T" or something--I realize now that might be how they are named from now on). I have also since seen that there is still carrier testing to be conducted, plus other issues. Also, if it's "final", why aren't the images and OTA files here yet - https://developers.google.com/android/images ?? Being cautious, I decided to reflash the latest 7.1.2 image, and wait patiently for the "real" OTA. Not interested in beta testing (any more than we already do by being Nexus/Pixel stock owners). Happy for everyone that is running this latest build, but I'm only interested in the rock-solid, absolutely final images. Those are not here yet, in the form in which they have always come previously (and will almost certainly come again shortly).
Uh....I'm still on November 7.1.1, was about to upgrade August release but waited for the official O release from Google.lol

I read your reply today and I've checked if I have an update waiting for me aswell and it turns out although we live in different countrires in EU thre's an sec. update waiting for me.... about the same size.
But this one is strange. Even if full LTE signal It downloads very slowly. I wonder why?
BTW you have nice theme. Do you beleive I'm still runninng the stock defaut theme..... gosh...
I'm sure (I hope) You all (especialy XDA users) know the theory of making a device worse in performance (more lagging, lessm battery life etc.) by hidding a spcial code in sec. updates.
Well maybe that's what Samsung is doing cause like I've told You a thousand times S6E+ is (maybe until S9) the pbest fone release yet.
To motivate ppl to upgrade even from S8 Samsung may start rolling out bad updates.
Today I've talked to a guy that suddenly, 2-3 days after the premiere of S9/S9+ saw that his S8 has suddenly slowed down. He didn't install any new apps or did nothing unusual. Even didnt get the Oreo update.
Think about that.
I've isntalled the sec update. Have now from 1st Feb 2018 and for some time I see that espcially the battery life is going suddenly down.
You need to know that since I purchaed the phone I used it only once a month. Latley 4 times a month. Never installed more apps than 5. Even a loooong time ago after purchase I got rid of Microsoft apps and some other non Google and non Samsung.
Something fishy is about that.
WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK about this situation with these updates?
Is there any way of getting security patches while using a custom rom?

Good question but I estimate 90% the answer would be NO

Finger Print update notification on samsung members

Hi.
I just saw notification on samsung members that they will push patch update to our galaxy phones which will somehow resolve the fingerprint issue with protector and covers.
Any idea when it is coming?
Screenshot is attached.
Hard to say, maybe in November
Yes but as pee their notification, chances are that we may get it next week.
Received it 3 days ago on my BTU SM-N976B, so you shouldn't have to long a wait I'd guess.
Tsskkk.. That's if providers don't get involved. Just like the October update, that was supposed to be very important, and was released a couple weeks ago, add always, providers ruin the flow.
It's been said for years, but Samsung needs to push all updates, and not let the providers get involved(yes, not realistic, but we're can all dream the dream), add all they do is slow down and mess up things..

Agree.
Saw this on https://youtu.be/COJM29WI2TY and it seems to debunk the fingerprint issue

Yes, I have seen some posts that show that in reality, it is hard to fool the fp scanner, well, is not easy, I really do not care as I preffer pins or passwords
Am I the only one that hates the Samsung Members app?? Only notice I see is about using USB-C headphones... That's all I've ever seen.. Blah!
Finally got the fingerprint update notification. Installed and loving it. The delay time from finger touch and opening the phone is much faster. Still not as fast but speed is so much improved.
I wonder if they can further increase the rate of which the screen pops open to make it seem faster?

I got a firmware update for the usb-c and biometrics update today. Fingerprint seems more accurate and faster. I couldn't user it before the update due to too many no matches.
I'm on Verizon and bought the phone through them. Seems Samsung is sending these updates to everyone directly.

Its probably a notification for the galaxy store since i disabled all other samsung apps. It updates the fingerprint apk. Its not a system update from my t-mobile carrier.
Just got my biometric security update. Pushed to my phone directly. I'm on Verizon but wife hasn't got her update yet on her Note 10 also on Verizon.
Edit: Wife got her Note 10 update moments after I posted.
Just got mine in Indonesia. Comes through as 4.2MB biometric update on the notification shade.
The update...
