"Smart" flip covers, preferably in Europe? - OnePlus 7 Accessories

Hello everyone,
Got my wife a OP7 to replace her aging Edge 6. One of the features she absolutely loved with her Samsung was the official flip cover that had a transparent window through which you could control basic functions, like answer incoming calls or see notifications.
Does anyone have something similar to suggest for the OP7? I saw this on an ad here on XDA, actually and it looks ok; though the video in the ad actually showed that you can interact with the phone while the cover is closed, and in the description page it says that all it does is wake or put the phone to sleep. Typical chinese crap...
Anyhow, if you have any ideas, and especially if something is available in Europe, I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks!

[Q] keyboard cover

anyone find a decent slim keyboard cover?
I guess the price will be very high as the user base is small.
I purchased this one:
/itm/LG-8-3inch-G-Pad-Slim-cover-flip-single-stage-stand-Case-High-Qulity-Tablet-PC-/221320680238?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
...the forum would not let me post a correct link so add www ebay com before the link.
High price but i could not find any other that would ship to sweden. Amazon had some but the shipping price was higher (total cost more den 55$).
I did not want to wait any longer for my cover since i have a young child that likes to play around with my stuff . I needed a cover fast. I am sure that there will be others out there as soon as the sales of the unit increase.
That's just a case, I think he is looking for a combined case/keyboard.
Which I have not seen yet.
Is that what you're looking for? I cannot post link at the moment. It's from amazon.ca

This looks great. How did it work?
I read the reviews and I just bought a similar case but bought a bluetooth keyboard separately. Its similar to Apple with the scissor keys and works well. This way I can use it for movies and not have to worry about a keyboard in the case.

I'm expecting one of these to be delivered on Monday. Unfortunately the reviews are for different ELTD products, without the keyboard included.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-K...eather/dp/B00DVGXNKO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
I'll try to provide an opinion once I've had a chance to test it out. I am concerned about the ergonomics as that tab sticking out in front of the keyboard looks like a major irritation, but I'll hold judgement until I have hands on experience. FWIW I already have the ELTD (branded "IVSO") Black III cover, which is pretty good for the price, so I hope this product will prove just as good.

The keyboard cover arrived on Saturday and I've had a chance to give it a workout. I'm using it now to type this. Here are some observations....
1. The overall impression is quite good. It seems well made and holds both tablet andkeyboard securely with good protection.
2. The whole package becomes quite heavy and bulky, not unlike a hefty Filofax of old.
3. The keyboard fastens into the cover with magnets. The strength of hold seems spot on - held firmly enough, but easily removed.
4. The keyboard part is very light indeed. The weight is in the cover.
5. The keyboard works well, but of course the keys are small and close and typing mistakes are made as I need to get used to it.
6. Unfortunately for the UK market there is no £ key on the keyboard and I have no idea how to access the key without turning off the keyboard, waiting for the tablet to release the connection and then using the on screen keyboard to input the character. It takes longer to drop the missing keyboard connection than to reacquire it.
7. The tab on the cover is soft enough to be tucked out of the way under the keyboard and will stay put fairly easily.
8. The biggest functional problem (bulk, weight and missing key aside) is that with the tablet secured within the cover the surrounding material, which covers the bezels, sticks up proud and make it quite difficult to touch the notification bar for a double tap or to pull notifications down. To a lesser degree there is a similar problem with the navigation buttons.
9. The cover does act like a smart cover, turning the tablet on and off when opened and closed.
10. If the tablet is rebooted the Bluetooth pairing is lost and manual reconnection is necessary.
Overall it's not a bad product, especially for the price, but there is room for improvement. I will continue using the keyboard in isolation, but instead of the heavy/bulky/awkward cover I shall use the cover I already bought, with smart cover, and use the keyboard loose and free from the tablet. That will allow me to grab the tablet for a low profile and light weight for mobility (pocketable) and just leave the keyboard back home on the desk (coffee table).

I wonder if this app would help - I used it with another bluetooth keyboard and tablet when I had the same issue, though I haven't tried it with my G Pad yet. In my case, the £ sign was printed on the keyboard but despite this it was permanently set to US layout in the software somehow (despite the tablet language and default input language being set to UK), so I got # when I tried to get £, I think, and also " and @ were swapped. Basically the app lets you select a region/language and then your external keyboard should behave as if the keys are what you'd expect for that region - so if you press Shift+3 you should get £ regardless of what's printed on the keyboard itself. It doesn't display an onscreen keyboard, and the tablet should default automatically to the app settings when it detects your external keyboard, so once you do the initial setup it's pretty seamless. There's a demo version so you could see if it worked before buying. It's called External Keyboard Helper and is available from the Play store.

360 case

Hi,
My current case has a really bad fit, blocks part of the screen and has no access to the headphone jack. So I need a good case that will protect my V500 and which can stand (easily) on it's own, since I'm using the V500 primarily for video.
Is anybody using this one?
I realise it's not a smart cover, but with the knock on/off feature I'm really not missing it on my current although crappy case.
Thanks.

The thread "Anybody found a good case?" features one person who has it, and apparently likes it.
Edit - Oops, looks like you found it already. MY question is, do you mind the added bulk, and how easy is it to separate the tablet back portion from the cover? Some eBay pics suggest it's possible.

Personally I don´t mind the extra bulk, if the stand functionality really works.
For obvious reasons I haven´t tried this exact model, but in my experience you "click in" your device so it´s kinda difficult to take it apart. So I wouldn´t recommend taking it apart and puting it back together on a frequent basis.

This one is great for video playback.
I had it for an IPad Mini (and a Samsung Tab) and liked it. It's not the lightest or thinnest but it is excellent otherwise.

[Q] Questions about Moto 360 watch

So AT&T has a promotion right now, if I get the Nexus 6, I can get $100 off of this watch. I have wanted a smart watch for a while, but was leaning more towards the Samsung series (smaller version sorry don't remember the exact name lol). However to be able to get this watch with more features for the same price, I may be getting it instead. That being said I have a few questions.
I am currently a fitbit wearer, I have the cheapest version without a watch etc. I love my fitbit because it tracks my steps and I am able to plug in my workout info into the Android app on my S5. Does this watch come with a pedometer? I saw a thread about an app called "cinch" that can be used with the watch to track heart rate etc. That seems cool too. Just wondering if there's anything built in like the Samsung watches have.
What band do you suggest? I am a female with very tiny wrists and hands. My fitbit is the smaller band set on the second to smallest setting. I tried on the black leather band on display at AT&T last week, and it seemed to fit OK.
How is everyone's overall experience with the watch? Does rooting open up a lot of other features like it does with the phones?
Also how well does the watch sync with your phone?
I just figured I'd put some questions out there, it seems like the reps at AT&T are hit or miss... some know a lot of info on stuff and others are clueless. Plus they want a sale...

The 360 has a built in pedometer and optical heart rate sensor. I'm running it with a Galaxy S5 and carry a fitbit zip so to be honest, I have the 360 set to not provide me info from its built in sensors. Between the fitbit which I have synced to my MyFitnessPal app, my phone's pedometer, and the 360's, I got tired of seeing 3 different step counts so I decided to use the fitbit as my primary step counter and don't use the others but they're there on the 360.
I wear my watch pretty much every day but for times I'm planning to do physical activity - exercise, yard work, helping a friend move, etc. I usually fall back to a Casio sport watch. I love the 360 - still pretty novel and allows me to keep my phone in my pocket most of the day at work but I'm still too afraid I might break it if I put it through the rigors I put my traditional watches through. There's a long thread in the forum dealing specifically with aftermarket watch bands. It seems like a few more options are popping up for men - I don't know about women's sizes.
My phone is usually rooted but I haven't jumped into it on the 360. Anything that requires device disassembly to root is usually past my threshold for that kind of thing. Doesn't look like there's been a lot of dev just yet anyway.
Watch syncs seamlessly with my GS5. No problems to speak of. I often walk away from my phone and I have "Find My Phone" installed which gives me a notification when I leave it behind. Coming back into range, it re-pairs itself almost instantly. A few glitches have shown up for folks after OTA updates that might require you to have to re-sync. For me, since picking up the watch in December, we're talking about having to do that once - after my GS5 took Lollipop.
All in all regarding style, it's my daily "office and out" watch of choice. Regarding functionality, it's more novel than functional - at least for me. Regarding durability, I haven't really pushed it - it is after all a $250 watch. I would absolutely buy one again.
Hope this helps.
Thank you it does. I did a quick search on Amazon for bands and see some out there that are more feminine, but they do look cheaply made. Not sure I want to pair a cheap band with a $250 watch LOL. I might just get the black leather for now, and if something else comes along that I like (i.e. green!) I'll purchase it down the road. I'm looking to replace the fitbit with the watch (I wonder if they'll take it in on trade LOL) I work in an office so I'm not concerned with damaging it.

Dodocase makes a leather band specifically for the moto 360. Comes in several colors. I believe green is one of the colors. They are expensive but the leather looks nice. Just search Google for them. I believe moto may even have them on their website.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
The green one is very nice I could only find it on moto's site, dodcase's website only had cell phone & tablet cases. They also have a thinner metal band that looks more feminine on their site available if you order the watch directly through them. IDK if it'll be available at the AT&T store though. Guess I'll find out tomorrow or Sunday when I go in! Thank you for all your help!!
Best Buy also has the slim metal bands but that doesn't really help you with the At&T promotion unless they will match it.
i need help urgently guys
i am looking forward to buy moto 360 (used one)
but since its my second android wearable after samsung gear fit
can anyone help me with few questions ?
#1 how to check online waranty status of it
#2 he doesn't have the bill (getting for half price of new one) ..how to check whether its indian purchased or global ?
#3 how to examine the watch ? like in cell phones we the screws.. what about moto 360 ?
please reply soon

Answering calls from 2nd screen with a flip case

Hi,
I'm in the process of deciding which case to buy for my new V20. I'm tempted by LG's official Quick Cover flip case as LG state you are able to answer calls from the second screen while the case is closed which appeals. However it only has 2 reviews on Amazon and they aren't favourable (e.g. the volume buttons are obscured by the cases hinge).
My question is this though - is this 2nd screen call answering feature unique to LG's case? I can't see how it could be (unless for example the case has some built in rfid tag detected by the V20's NFC), but I saw a comment on the forum about a similar case (VOIA CleanUP) mentioning that the 2nd screen features were no different with the case on to with it off.
Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks,
James
No I have a nillkin case and I'm able to answer calls

I have the CleanUp case. Yes it works when the case is closed and a call there is a small slider in the widow one way to take call one way to reject. Red green icons very easy to use. I like it better than the circles when the case is open. It is only comes up when the case is closed, when open the huge screen with circles appears.
For the volume buttons I am forcing myself to use them with the case closed and its getting easier by the day as my fingers remember where it is. Easy to push just a bit hard to find. I have been thinking of drilling a little hole between the two volume buttons on the hinge so I have a better idea of the button location when feeling for them.
Overall a very sharp case with a few compliments. lux look and feel but you will need to train yourself to use the finger print sensor while opening the phone.
Thanks both for the replies - very helpful. I'll probably purchase either the CleanUp or Nillkin case

Note 10+ AOD along the right edge?

I have ordered a cheap Chinese imitation of the Note 10+ S View case which when genuine makes the AOD display down the right edge so it is visible through the cases clear edge. I am presuming the imitation case will not do this so am asking how can I? (of course I might get a nice surprise but I doubt it!).
I'm sure I read how to do that somewhere quite awhile ago but any DuckDuckGo-ing does not turn anything useful up.
Going through settings did not prove fruitful either.
Thanks for the heads up.

I'm at the point where I think there are only 2 ways its going to happen, either the case has the appropriate bits that make it happen (which I doubt but you never know) or I have to trick the phone into thinking a real case is there.
The settings needed, in accessories it seems, to show the AOD down the right side, do not show up until the phone knows the case is there, from some quick searching it seems this is done with magnets and hall effect sensors to tell the phone the case is fitted, if the info I have stumbled upon is correct. I don't know why Samsung would not let people have the choice of the AOD down the side at any time if they would like instead of only with that case?
So if the case does not have these magnets I will play around until I get something with some small rare earth magnets and see what happens? It will be easy to glue them into the case if it works.
If none of the above works I may have to anti up for a real case....drat.
I like 'em but I'm not sure if I like 'em that much!
(it just struck me that I do not need to wait for the case to try some magnets and see what happens!).
EDIT: ok bad news I'm afraid - the AOD down the right side is NOT on the Note's screen, its on the clear part of the case which is a screen of sorts itself! The case has quite a few tricks and is probably why it costs so much. Bummer. Oh well, the cheap Chinese case will do for now while I agonize over whether to part with the dough for the real Sammy case! I may find that I don't like that type of case that I have to open all the time and I found out cheaply! That's about the only good outcome.
I'm not sure exactly which case you are referring to but the Samsung Clear view cases are just that, a clear part in the case that lets you see the screen.
So possibly some bad news, I have one of the LED cover cases, could be different but when I put the case on the phone it unlocks an app and wallpapers in the phone that let you control the case. In the LED Cover app, the case has its own serial number and strangely, the date I "registered" the case with the phone and there is a date when the software will expire in 3 years. So without access to the app, I think you're stuck.

Yes without the case to tell the phone its there and activate the setting in accessories nothing will happen. I have since found out that the info about the case having a screen is wrong, don't trust Youtube! It is the Note's screen that does everything, after watching another couple of vids I could see the AOD display on the Note's screen briefly when they opened the case.
I wonder if any app developer would like to write a small app to make this happen whenever a person would like, that would cure the problem. I asked in AOD notify thread about this. I'm sure it would not be too hard at all. I think there would be a bit of demand especially from cheap case owners!
I should know by Wednesday at the latest if the cheap case tells the phone its there, it would be nice.
So the case arrived finally.
As expected it does not do anything, its just a case i.e. it does not tell the phone it is there. The special section in accessories is therefore not accessible. No AOD down the side.
The case itself is actually quite nice, seems well made, pretty good considering it was only 5 bucks.
Having said that I don't like the case when it is open, it makes holding the phone awkward so I most likely will not now ever buy the genuine Samsung case which will be the same in this attribute. I have heard this criticism about the sammy case.
I will use it for now to get my 5 bucks worth but will most likely take it off soon enough and put the sammy silicone case back on.
A shame because I like the look of the case on the phone closed and like the screen being protected but I feel that when open the case will likely be the cause of drops so it will have to go me thinks.
So a small update; There is an app in Play Store that will put an AOD style clock down the right side of the screen, right in the right spot for these cheap cases. It is called Edge Clock for S6 but works on most devices and on the Note 10+ too.
It at least makes use of the clear part of the case, kind of like you get with the genuine sammy case but it is just a clock and costs 4 bucks.
Seems to work quite well, different colors available etc. It is not an AOD but you have to run the app which makes the rest of the screen black while it runs the edge clock. I'm using it at home so my phone is unlocked which I find convenient, I get a kind of AOD display like I would of got with the real case so I'm kinda pleased with it.
I have gotten used to the case and have left it on, the initial dislike of when the case is open has passed and there have been no case induced drops, thankfully.
Hope this helps someone.
Couldn't you just have the AOD show the clock down the right side of the screen instead?
Sent from my SM-T860 using Tapatalk
For me, there is the AOD setting for the right-side of the screen. When you are choosing your "Clock Style" in AOD settings, scroll through the list all the way to the right, where there is a 'clock' logo, click it, and there should be 5 additional settings. The last one listed there is the right-side option.

Same here.
It would be nice if someone knew which APK it is with the AOD clock down the side so it could be downloaded and installed for us "not have's"!
The app I spoke of (S6 clock) is OK but it means when using it the phone is actually on and unlocked i.e. the app does not run on the lock screen.
Another Update.
I have found a free app that does what we were really looking for, AOD down the right side on the lock screen with clock, notifications, battery percentage etc!
HooRay!
It is called Always On Display Edge Lighting Super Amoled....yeah a mouthful but it works....except for 1 small problem but easily fixed me thinks.
For some reason it uses the proximity sensor and it switches the display OFF if the case is closed?? yeah I dunno why but I am going to drill a small hole in the case in the right spot to fix that PITA problem early tomorrow morning, bit late now.
So suck it sammy, I got my cheap chinese case AND my AOD for 9 bucks (case 5, first app 4 {now redundant}) second app free!
Hope I have helped someone.
Your selecting the wrong icon select the one that looks like the clock
No need for another app
Your selecting the wrong icon select the one that looks like the clock
No need for another app
It does not matter which clock I select the one I want is not there.
As reported by others as well. Some have it, some do not.
Possibly a region thing, who knows.
Your picking clockface you have it it comes stock
uninstall clockface and I bet it's there
Then you will see it where it Is
Then reinstall clockface
Don't uninstall all of good lock just clockface
