Hi,
I've read that now Xperia Overlay, the custom firmware by Achotjan, is ready for our Xperia Play.
According to what is reported on facebook, the latest working version is 2.1.3.
Did anyone try it? Is everything working?
Unfortunately it's a paid firmware, available only through their website
Quick review of Xperia Overlay
I've installed and updated Xperia Overlay on my Play.
In my opinion, it's not ready for daily use. There are random reboots and several bugs.
However, and that's strange, camera is working, and 720p video recording is available.
I will update the post as soon as I test the rom
Update: yesterday I tested the firmware, however today I switched back on stock GB, that still is the best for me.
About Xperia overlay, everything is working. It's not the same firmware of z2 obviously, since themes and stamina aren't working.
Speaking about bugs, I noticed that WiFi sometimes drops and light sensor doesn't work properly.
The major problems of the Rom are stability and performance. Everything is too slow. Unlocking the phone and switching between apps is frustrating. However it's still better than other Rom I tried.
Battery life is poor since to mitigate performance overclock is enabled by default to 1.6GHz. I had to decrease it to 1.4 since the phone use to reboot randomly every 2 mins. Btw reboot remains, like one per hour.
And that's all.
I hope to see this camera working in cm11 since it's the only thing that doesn't work.

To install you have to:
flash the kernel included via fastboot
reboot in cwm
wipe dalvik cache, cache
format data, system
install the zip
The latest complete fw is 2.1.1, then you can update it to 2.1.3 via ota through the preinstalled app.
I can't compare to cm12 since I don't tried it because I don't have an sd card fast enough
The CWM of the Kernel is not working for me. Seems like CWM is missing.
It works, i dont remember which is the right key.. Back or vol-down. Then you have wait a bit because it takes a while to load

! I declare that I am not a developer of this ROM, just let you know about this and discuss about it. !
MIUI V6 (Now 7) has finally arrived in Galaxy Nexus!
You can download the ROM from MIUI Official Download website.
Download :
http://en.miui.com/download-3.html
Please download third part one.
Screenshot :
Also, our Korean developer ported Fancy Kernel r60 for MIUI V6.
(If you flashed original Fancy Kernel on MIUI V6, your phone would get into bootloop.)
It also supports F2FS, cause original Fancy Kernel supports it, too.
But you may change script from the ROM.
!(PROBABLY) NOT WORKING!
- No Root
Download :
http://mega.nz/#F!H9VABLRQ!oUgcaKorgDut8sehgsbgZw
5.5.29 and 5.7.2 use different ramdisk, so be careful when you flash other version.
If new version comes out, flash 5.7.2 kernel.
And if it not works, then I will tell the developer to port again.
Due to Fancy's root problem, he ported another kernel, Franco Kernel for MIUI V6.
It also supports F2FS.

Thanks for opening this thread!.
Last time I tried MIUI v6 (4.4.4), I found lots of bugs, but it's good to see new possibilities for our ancient gnex =)
Also, it's good to know there is support for Fancy kernel, one of my fav ones.
I'm now with Cataclysm 4.3 and it is fast and stable, but the fun never ends... let's give MIUI a second chance! =)

Do you have any problem about taking screenshot?
I'm using CM11 + Fancy Kernel, and screenshots aren't saved.
The error says 'Storage may be used already.'
I got report that if you use Fancy Kernel for MIUI V6 5.7.2 that I uploaded, it cannot be rooted.
Does anyone have that same problem, too?
Anyway, I reported that problem, then the developer ported Franco Kernel for MIUI V6.
I will write it in second thread.

a bit slow in fact but everything looks great, using my nexus as a spare phone so I wont be using it a lot or load many apps, so great option for me at the moment. getting my way around with no google apps, lets see how it goes for now.
thanks for this thread!

its not that slow, I mean I haven't had any hangs on the phone opening an app or something (have not tried games or heavy apps, just waze, a little whatsappp and music at the same time and it performs just fine), just the way the transitions are set, that seem to be a bit slow in my opinion. I have not seen any visual bugs, in fact the only bug so far I encounter is taking a screenshot, just tried to make some to add to this post and the phone reboots, both hitting the shortcut on notifications or the old way (home+volume up) I was about to load and old version of MIUI ROM when I came across this thread and I can say this MIUI 5.7.12 is much better.
Now, what gapps are people loading on this ROM?

Finally got some google apps downloading a google installer app from MIUI market son my contacts and calendar are synced.
are we getting updates? is there a way to follow the guy that ported this version in some forum?

Guys, if you use Fancy or Franco Kernel for MIUI V6 in my 2nd thread, you can use F2FS, too.
(Of course, you should run F2FS changer tool.)
I used sultan's version of CM13 for 2 month and last week end i flashed OOS beta 7 and now i have several problems :
- My booting animation is neither the oneplus animation nor the one i flashed (the marvel/dc one, yes i reflashed it after flashing OOS), it is the word android. how can i change that?
- I can't flash Xposed : he tells me there is no space on the system partition and then the phone bootloop : i have a runing superSU 3.0.2-22 (the phone is rooted, ever app that uses root works)
- I have a zooper widget who doesn't load at startup (i have to opent the zooper app) and i checked, i allowe it to start at the start of the phone
Any idea on what i can do? i thought that maybe the kernel of sultan didn't get witched back to the original kernel when i flashed OOS and that causes problems
Friend, I will advice you tu flash Freedom OS 1.11 which is build on top of beta 7. Why I am saying this.
1. It allows to change the boot animation at the time of installation.
2. It will allow you to de boat the Google/oneplus pre-installed apps at the time of installation. That you can even do on stock beta 7 using titanium Backup app. That will resolve the problem you got while flashing xposed.
3. On beta 7 xposed wont work it will stuck on boot logo. So go to official xposed link and download the latest build, that will work.
4. Before installing freedom os I will highly recommend your too go through few last pages on its thread.

1. Camera is the same that you have on beta 7. Actually Freedom os is deboated stock oxygen with some extra tweaks like custom kernel, audio mods etc. Every thing is customizable there.
2. And yes they provide update as soon as newer build comes from oneplus.
3. This can solve all the issues you mentioned with the same taste of beta 7.

Hi y'all, first off I have the G920P, just recently upgraded to Nougat QC7 stock ROM, modified and running the SkyHigh kernel v5.01 with Magisk v12. Everything runs pretty smooth, even got Liveboot working successfully (there's a reason I mention Liveboot.) Now I decided to try to get Viper4Android to work. Of course, installing the standard apk fails when it comes to installing the driver. So I tried the V4A Magisk module and it installed fine, however on reboot, my Liveboot no longer works and when opening the V4A app it asks to install the driver, I hit yes and it says it successfully installed and to please reboot. I reboot and of course Liveboot still doesn't show, but otherwise it boots fine. Once I re-open the V4A app it is asking me to install the driver yet again, and the whole system at times seems a bit unstable until I disable the V4A module in Magisk Manager. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone gotten this to successfully work? If so I'd love a suggestion lol. I really would like to keep my Liveboot working, but I'd kinda like to get Viper working too. Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions, ideas, etc.
Chuck
I could not get the V4A module to install under Magisk 12; however, it works just fine with Magisk 13.
This is the version that I used: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120735287
Magisk Uninstaller (should not be needed, but if you want it) is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120735289
NOTE: You are, I believe using the @tdhite kernel, which is based in Magisk 12. Not sure what the impact of installing Magisk 13 will be.
The kernel is fine with Magisk v13 (beta, to be sure is all that is released there). Magisk v13 beta still has problems, so beware. The SkyHigh kernel and module are v13 compatible as much as v12, just so you know. The reason v12 is packaged in is v12 is the only stable Magisk version at this point.
The bigger issue is Magisk v13 beta working stably and reliably, but if you are willing to debug its failures, it's ok. There should be no need to uninstall to upgrade if you want to play. Reloading the kernel flash will cleanly load up v12 if all goes badly.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
@koop1955 Thank you for that information! I will bookmark those so I can get back to them once v13 is reliable and stable enough for my kernel
@tdhite Thanks bud as Well! I think I will just stay where I am until the kernel and v13 play nicely. Just got this thing as perfect as I can for now, well other than ram use creeping up, but that's only every now and then, and for another topic. I *might* get my nandroid current and play a little if I get bored and want to tinker. I guess I can safely assume then the reason Liveboot stops working with the V4A module installed is because of Magisk v12...?
Thank you to both of you guys for the help and advice. At least now I know it's not some dumb issue with my device lol.
Chuck
@digitalchaos1980 and @tdhite, I have had a good experience with one particular version of Magisk 13, which is why I added it to my AFH. Other and newer versions...not so much. To be expected with a work in progress.
At some point, Magisk 13 will be final and we can move forward.

Just to be sure, folks realize there is full equalizer support in my SkyHigh kernel and the bands are all adjustable, even per channel if desired, in Synapse, right? Just noting in case that's all you need, because it is a no-CPU-load way of getting it done.

nice guide! Just wondering if the vendor image message still pops up? This usually happens after flashing the safetynet fix. I know it doesn't do anything and everything still works fine. But, for some reason it always bothered me with lineage os because, it never happend on other roms.
Yes bro it happens keep giving that vendor image error message but as you said already its fine not giving any issues at all.

Weird that it doesn't happen on other roms. Lineage seems to be the only rom having issues with magisk and safety net. Atleast it works fine even with that message. But it still bothers me for some reason. But i'm gonna save this guide because, I might need it someday

hi guys
do you think once official oreo will be released we will have more improvements on 8.1 roms? to which degree?
i waited to update until now, seeing a lot of concerns about camera and various random bugs, (been flashing lot of nasty roms quite happily, but now i feel just a tad more prudent )

As Motorola will most probably release the kernel sources/source code for our device short after the Oreo OTA it will help the developers a lot to fix all this device related bugs. So yes, it makes sense to wait for it.

i believe yes, it will improve. I'm personally waiting for some dev to port the P GSI specifically for our device, like other devs did with the MI A1.
