Strong protection (secure startup) stopped working - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I have the Strong Protection setting (previously called Secure Startup) enabled, but it recently stopped working (probably sometime since the ASI3 firmware update for N975U1). Instead of prompting for my password early in the boot process, the phone gets all the way to displaying my lock screen (showing my contact information, selected background image, etc.), which suggests that the phone's encryption has already been unlocked with no password entered yet. (It does still require my password to get past the lock screen.)
I've tried disabling and then re-enabling the Strong Protection setting, and clearing the system cache, but the phone still boots all the way to the lock screen without requiring a password.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Alternatively, is there anyone else (with the ASI3 firmware) who is *not* encountering this problem?

It may have changed a bit in an update?
Ever since I got my note 10+ (build ASJ2 and the previous 2 updates) that is how strong protection has worked.

[Q] device encryption

If you use device encryption, do you then have to enter a password each time you turn the screen on, or only each time you power the phone on after it had been powered down?
And can you later decide to undo the encryption?
After further searching, I've discovered that the device-encryption password is only entered when the device powers up (reboots). However, the UI forces the same password to be used for the unlock screen as for the device encryption, so it's just as though the device-encryption password has to be used for each unlock. (There are hacks to work around that restriction, but they require rooting.)
New question for anyone using device encryption, please: Are you still able to set a long delay (up to one hour) before the lock screen engages, or does it always engage immediately when the device is encrypted, requiring password entry each time you pick up the phone?
Also, still wondering if anyone who's tried it knows whether device encryption can later be reversed/disabled. If so, I'll just go ahead and experiment. But I'd rather not do so if I'd have to factory-reset in order to undo it.

Nexus 5X stuck in loop - password required after device restarts

Posting from following original reference:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/yMUh6a2SVLs;context-place=forum/nexus
I've had a Nexus 5x for a couple of years and recall accepting an Android update about a week ago, since which time I've restarted my phone several times. Unfortunately, I can't tell you the Android version because I'm currently unable to get past my lock screen.
Yesterday I restarted my phone and went through the steps of password => Android loading => fingerprint to unlock screen, but I also received the message "password required after device restarts" so I entered my password again. I know the password is correct because it works initially (to start Android) and because if I type anything different, it tells me that the password is wrong. However, each time I enter the correct password, the screen goes black for a second (which it would normally do when unlocking the screen) but then it returns to the "password required after device restarts" prompt.
I've tried powering off, restarting and 'hard' restarting by pressing down the power button, but the result is the same each time I reach the step to unlock the screen.
I can see alerts (eg, emails, whatsapp messages) and I receive visual/audio notification of calls/messages, etc. but I can't access the content.
My last backup was about four weeks ago before I began international travel. There are important data on my phone that I need to get access to hence following questions:
1) Since the password is still valid is there a way one can Remote Desktop into the phone and retrieve the data?
2) Any other way to get into the phone?
Any help in this matter is highly appreciated.
Thanks and Happy new year 2018.

Removing encryption causes problems?

If anyone can help that would be awesome - this is the first time i have encountered this problem on an android device.
one of the first things i do is remove encryption on my android phones because
1. i like the option
and 2. i notice a considerable amount of difference.
now starting from Pie we have metadata encryption with file encryption
removing metadata encryption causes 0 problems.
however when i remove file encryption i run into a problem
i am un-able to setup a fingerprint (the option isnt even there anymore)
also when i set up a PIN, i am unable to change it (it says incorrect pin)
when i use the pin to unlock the phone, it says "wrong pin" but it works in unlocking the phone.
i didnt experience this on my oneplus 5/6 or samsung / huawei devices having them decrypted.
does anyone know how we can get fingerprint / pin working without encryption?
i notice the phone is more responsive and snappy without encryption

Fingerprint hardware not available

Suddenly My Pixel 3 XL fingerprint sensor stopped working and when I tried to unlock with fingerprint, a message says "fingerprint hardware not available" appears at lower bottom of lock screen. The phone does not unlock.
I tried flash without wipe the factory image (April Security patch image, removed -W), cleared the Dalvik cache (with TWRP) and cache (with an APP), still same issue.
Boot into safe mode still not working, I could start enroll a new finger, however, the enrollment will fail after last fingerprint touch. A message just said "cannnot finish add new fingerprint".
I can not also delete the two already enrolled fingerprints from the setting menu. After touch the "trash can" icon, the fingerprint just got gray out but comeback if I exit the settings activity.
I don't think the fingerprint sensor HW is at fault since it still response to fingerprint touch (at least in Safemode)...
Anyone has similar experience or a solution? (I haven't tried a full wipe yet...)
I am on stock April security patch. (rooted with Magisk 19, however, went back to stock boot.img doesn't help)
Note: I do not have Swift installed...
Thanks a lot!
I'd say a wipe is needed
Maybe something got corrupt that resides on the /data partition

I have same problem, see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3a/help/fingerprint-hardware-available-t3947280
it's not hardware issue, it's something in data partition that system treat like tampering and disable fingerprint.
Don't try to change Screen Lock, it will break lock completely.
I'm coming from phone without fingerprint so I can live without it if I had to.
If I find some solution I'll let you know.

what happens if you delete those.

Tried that, after restart home screen showed up but it stuck in 'configuring Pixel...' message. I did uninstall before some apps like pixel setup and maybe if I didn't, it will complete. However, maybe it will just create new account. It might be worth to investigate with stock ROM without modifications except rooting. Anyway I have no access to another phone to test.
Before doing that, I have created another account on the phone and fingerprint was working fine on that account.

Question S22 Ultra reboots when I enter the passcode. One UI 5.0 Beta

Model: SM-S908U1 Unlocked
Hello so to start off I want to say this is entirely my fault for not backing up my phone before installing this beta.
Story:
So today I tried to create a secure folder and while it was creating the secure folder my phone shut down after rebooting I cannot get into my phone every time I enter the password it just freezes and reboots. I can see my data is still all there because I am still receiving app notifications. How would I go about fixing this as I cannot factory wipe the phone because of fear of loosing my accounts tied to 2fa.
What I have tried so far:
- Using Samsung's find my phone feature to remove the screen lock (The phone randomly reboots multiple times and the screen lock is not removed.)
- Wiping system cache
- ADB does not detect the device as it is locked so there is not much I can do with that.
Other notes:
I have used oden in the past but I cannot find the right software for my model to attempt to re flash. (SM-S908U1 Unlocked)
