I'm with you! Wanna buy this smartphone but the fact that it's not have Google camera ported yet stops me from buying.

Almost every ported gcam works on mia1, have you enabled Camera 2 api ? it needs that enabled to work.

I don't know how to enable the API: please explain me, if you can. Moreover, is it possible to add EIS to the stock camera or at least in Google Camera ported?

If you are rooted you have to add below line in build.prop -
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
after that reboot. you will have working gcam with HDR+. although the slomo option won't work. and you will have EIS too in gcam.

1.No unless you have custom recovery which mia1 doesn't have yet.

i think Google camera hdr+ need a snapdragon 820++ isn't it?

@thewarrior2 It doesn't, it needs a 64bit OS and a snapdragon SoC packing a certain Hexagon DSP

Can anybody post comparison pictures of hdr+ and stock xiaomi camera app? I am really interested in seeing the results before buying this phone.

visit mi 5s section for example there is alot of detail with hdr+

If you cant find the difference by looking at the samples posted, then you dont need HDR+.
But the fact is the difference is night and day!
Google is primarily known for software, which is what HDR+ is all about.. It uses the camera h/w, takes many pics when you click the shutter button, each in different contrast, and applies some kick-ass machine learning algorithms on every pixel of each groups of pics it took, fuses all of them, to get awsome looking pics.. Thats all it does, and thats all that no other stock camera app does from any other manufacturer. Thats why it beats even iphone.
So basically, google does more through software , what all others achieve through multiple h/w.. Reason why pixel 2 still has single Camera.

I said the redmi note 3 pro has better performance with Google camera than this A1.. That's why i said, i am confused

So... does this camera work after modifying build.prop? Could someone upload a few pics comparing the original camera app to this one?

Here some sample for comparison,
App: MGC_6.1.013_MiMAX2_V1b_A8.1+
Rom: Stock 8.1
Darker ones are shot with HDR+ enhanced mode and Brighter ones are with Night Mode

Everything is working fine in Arnova8G2 GCam_Pixel3Mod_1_build.6.1.013 except front camera. All the pictures taken with front cam are greenish and blurry. Night sight working like a charm. I'm on LiquidRemix 10.0.1 pie ROM. Here are some samples.

Great thread! Quick question tho, anyone still getting the dot pattern bug when shooting bright blue skies and bright colors? It shows when zooming in photos taken with hdr+

The front camera will be fixed in the next version, i talked to aranova and he will fix it.

The arnova pixel3 version works a bit slow/laggy for me, also no live picture in night mode, although it works/produces the image. BSG version works better, except for the annoying "hexagon" popup.
Side question - which is the best/most stable gcam version with ZSL/motion stills/slomo? I used a pretty old one, I wonder if there was any progress to this day - will try the ones in 1st post tomorrow.
p.s is there any way of having several camera apps installed? Usually it wants to overwrite the current one, although id like to test a few ones parallel.

Did not test this with the BSG mod I installed, but the front camera is green. And it says "hexagon failed" when taking a portrait or night photo but it still seems to work. Could you edit the post and add this? Thanks

All 6.1+ versions still have front cam issues if you'd read previous replies.

The 625 is weak and zsl and other features would be too much for it.
Some launchers can rename apps. App cloners should also be able do it.

Thkans a lot! I've flashed it on Pixel Experience rom and everything went fine. Appart from a few freezes in portrait mode, I had no bugs so far. :good:

Not as easy unfortunately. The camera HAL, which in stock ROMs use to be always better, normally decreases quality on photos for custom ROMs not based on stock.
Also the custom camera blobs used on custom ROMs use to have less quality.
In any case not sure how much this facts still apply since Treble integration.
To summary: i didn't do a comparison between stock and custom ROMs using miuicam but i did with both using gcam, same conditions and parameters, results were the same/very similar.

Thanks, do you experience that cameras are "snappy"? Are they crashing under some circumstances or are there lots of features that doesn't work?

Crashes when I try to take a picture or video on Pixel Experience GSI Rom.

Does it benefit from using dual camera? Is there 2x optical zoom option using second camera?

I used it with LineageOS. It worked fine, but my QR scanner doesn't find the camera as it tries to open the original Snap camera app, which isn't able to connect to the camera anymore.

Yes. It utilizes both camera's. 2x optical zoom works. And portrait mode also works.
I did have a bit of a bug with the second camera freezing, causing the app to crash when 2x optical or portrait was selected. But that was fixed after a reboot of my phone.
I am running Pixel Experience.

I got this solved with the help of the developer in the Telegram group. This is how: I opened the file ANXCameraMagisk_5.OldShamefulAnt.zip and deleted the lib folder in /system in the zip on my PC (it didn't work on my phone), reflashed it in Magisk and now the stock camera works again and so does the external QR code reader. Also the Miui Camera kept working after a short glitch when I tried the first time.

I found that portrait mode doesn't work anymore after that mod. Did you try that as well?

Same here. So I use Gcam for pics and the miui ported cam for video.

Anyone got it working on a GSI rom?
I can make short videos. And change all settings. But as soon as I try to take a picture, the app crashes to homescreen.

Do continuous shootings work? One thing wich is holding me back from switching to AOSP Roms. Every Mod i tried so far can just make a picture for each press of the button but not shoot until i release the button

Howto create Gcam FP4 config?

I am using Iode-OS and I want to use the Gcam Wichaya Mod, see here.
The Wichaya's 8.1 v1.5 app runs fine but is not able to use the panoarama-mode or in other words it is not able a.t.m. to use all camera lenses of the FP4.
How can I create a config? @mickey36736 is there a chance to get some tipps or can you help the slowly growing FP4-community?

Is there a developing team?

Starting from a Nikita GCam it is possible to install the auxiliary module for the extra cameras
NGCam | AUX
AUX (Auxiliary Lens) are available for many devices. However on some it FC (force closes / crashes), and that's why you have to set IDs manually.
If you faced with this issue, just download the app to see all IDs for all camera sensors and follow the instructions below. You can use this method if you have a FC or applied xml from other devices.
WARNING: Do not send any files in group chat, because this is only for you to set ID manually if you got a FC.

Are you experimenting with Wichaya? Were you able to add a switch to the second wide-angle camera and/or set the shutter aperture to very long times (i.e., >30 sec)?

FP support is aware of the wide-angle camera issue and it's being discussed here. https://forum.fairphone.com/t/camera-camera2-api-missing-features-bugs/83196
the wide-angle camera should be usable in other apps but I can confirm it’s not. I’ve reported this to our Quality team and we’ll likely fix it at some point in the future but for the time being, you will have to use our app for such pictures.

I am using GCam Wichaya v1.5 and work pretty good with FP4. Nevertheless, I upload here my log thus maybe it possible to optimize the config!

GCam Parrot043 for Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 pro and 11

Hello,
I had until now a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the GCam from Parrot043 version 7.3.020.296349306 V8.
I take a lot of photos with people. The quality with this phone and this app are incredible. The details of the faces, hair, sharpness is almost perfect for me.
Now I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 and a 10 pro, and with both phones I have not find a GCam app that works and also takes good pictures.
The Parrot043 app unfortunately doesn't work and keeps crashing.
The only app that can keep up to some extent is the MTSL Cam V7.2 app, see link below:

The app works without crashing. But you have to switch on the white balance otherwise the photos are green.
Unfortunately, the quality does not come close to the photos from the MTSL, i.e. the individual hairs of a person are relatively blurred. See below/attached image-link.
The photos also lack colour saturation. Where is the best place to set this?
But, MTSL needs a long time before you can take a new photo.

But merge method to method 1 super res zoom. It improves sharpness a lot.

Use MTSL if it's better.. Parrot043 gcams is simply with not many settings. Other gcams have more settings to front and rear cameras.
You could also try LMC 8.4 or Shamim 8.4 gcam builds. I mainly use LMC on my phone(Moto phone) and i like that very much. Settings is easy to find and modify.

It's not better than old parrot043 version for xiaomi redmi note 7, and it needs long time to save a photo, so cannot take several photos very fast... :-(

I have tried all of them and the quality is poor, i.e. the hair appears blurred. This is very frustrating. :-(
And here on the forum, the settings seem for me more focused on so landscapes, and not people.
The MTSL V7.2 with Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 comes close in quality to the Parrot043 version 7.3.020.296349306 V8 with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, but unfortunately it takes a long time to process a photo.
I am already surprised that with the right app, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 takes the better photos (of people) than a Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.

However, my last solution would now be to configure current Parrot043 Gcam App, according Parrot043 version 7.3.. step by step, BUT unfortunately the developer settings of Parrot043 version 7.3.. are not disclosed.
