I understand the phone is not so popular but if anyone can give some insight on the issue would be appreciated. I have Mac and most of the utilities to flash the CWM are for windows. I am stuck here and I just noticed that GPS is also not working, it keeps on waiting for the location.

Xposed on Fire TV Gen2, can't install CWM, SU broken.

Hi,
I've successfully rooted my FireTV Gen2 and have Kodi installed.
I want to install Xposed but the official version does not support SDK 22 or Arm64.
There is an unofficial version of xposed which works on SDK22 and Arm64 but it is a zip file flashed via recovery.
I am currently on version 5.0.4 and have tried installing CWM but could only find one guide.
I run into an issue immediately when i try chmod the cache folder:
"Unable to open /cache: Is a directory"
No **** it's a directory lol.
I've power cycled several times which hasn't helped. I can't downgrade either because SU isn't working properly.
The device is actually functioning fine and the first time I ran SU in shell the FireTV prompted me to grant.
So can anyone please tell me what the **** is going on?

Well there is no CWM for the firetv2... so there's that problem. And there is also nothing to downgrade to...
I am currently working on recovery for the firetv2 and will release it soon.

You actually need not to install SuperSU after installing Kingroot (not KingoRoot), there is a built-in one, but he Kingroot one have no option for modifying the apps.
You could just simply click "get now" to root your phon.

Sony Xperia M5 dual (recent)
ZTE Nubia Z7 mini (backup)
Motorola RAZR XT910 custom

If you root with dodgy kingroot you must change kinguser to supersu as kinguser does not give the same root access permissions as supersu does and will cause problems...
Good to know, thanks to Aidy Lucas.

When you say kingroot is dodgy, can you go straight to SuperSU?
I would love that without unlocking my bootloader if possible.

There's a zip you flash via recovery probably other ways too, it removes all the kingroot/kinguser files and replaces them with supersu for proper root access. Really don't see the point in buying a Xperia device for the camera ect then unlocking the Bootloader and losing it yes I know there's a workaround for the z ranges but bet it's not as good as the real drm keys
Does this root the Sony Xperia M5 (E5653)?

The problem is that the only way I know if via recovery and there is no custom recovery yet for this phone... I was not planning on unlocking the bootloader, but I do want a rooted phone.
I can confirm this method.
Works like a charm.
Not too difficult to do, all though I do like the "one click" magic
Hello, and thank you for the guide. I have some questions that I would like someone to address please.
1. After installing KingRoot, do I have to run the app and go through the rooting process? Or i just install it and follow the other steps?
2. mount /system RW says 'your device may not be rooted or is not compatible'
3. You say '-Open Terminal emulator and write code.
su
sh storage/emulated/0/mrw/root.sh'. However, when I type su, it says SU not found.
Thank you in advance all.
You didn't root your phone. When you install KingRoot you have to open the app and click on Root, you may have to try several times until you are abel too root it,just keep trying for me it took three times to make it work, for some up to 7 times, but when it's rooted it will show you the message that your phone is rooted and then you can follow the rest guide...

Hello, thank you very much for your reply. I did as you said and now I have SuperSU and kinguser is no longer there. I have one more question, if you dont mind. Is it OK if I remove Purify and SuperBattery now?
PS: I got a bit anxious while installing SuperSU, as it asked to delete other superuser apps, i said OK, and it stuck at 'supersu uninstalling'. However, I restarted the phone and everything was OK.

Works also on 30.1.A.1.55

Yes, just did it and worked on first try.
confirming its method to be root has been a success and should be noted that when executing commands from the internal memory of the folder mrw also be done through the external memory
Code:
su
sh sdcard1/mrw/root.sh

Cant run su on FTV1

Have a FTV rooted version 1 with old firmware (51.1.4.0) I updated TWRP to the latest version then used a pre-rooted rom to upgrade to 5.5.2.1.1
I now have some problems with a file (mbcache.db) increasing in size so I would get Memory full delet apps.
I wanted to use TWRP to change rom to a later one. Hoping the problem would go away.
When I booted into TWRP i found that it reverted to old version screen is huge can only see button to install and cant scroll around
So I tried to update TWRP again but when I use adb and just after I run adb shell I try to run su but I get this
/system/bin/sh: us: not found
So
I cant do anything because everything requires the su command
I also checked and my bootloader is locked but wasn't when I did the first rom but now its locked
Any idea whats going on
Rick
Ok I think I got it figured out was able to downgrade to 5.0.5.1
I am having a similar issue with SU permission. My rom is 5.2.1.1, and boot loader unlocked. I was wondering if you can help me out. I am able to access FireTv with Teamviewer Quicksupport and SU grants permission, but when I select remote control however it grants permission, and then quickly denies it. What exactly am I doing wrong?
Does the Xposed framework and Module have to be installed again? If so what version should I use or does that not make a difference with this working? I have busybox updated and working fine, but I can't get my head around this. I had it working before on OS 3, but on OS 5 no luck, I know it works, but something is changing the permissions quickly. If you can please help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know if this helps but I found FACTORY RESET kills removes the SU functionality. I just reinstalled my routed rom and SU worked again

Trying to unroot Galaxy S4-mini running 4.4.2

Hello,
Running 4.4.2 on SCH-R890, original root was done by Kingroot. I've attempted to unroot this phone, and I'm seemingly successful with the unroot, however I'm no longer able to pass CTS.
In order to completely remove Kingroot, I used Super-Sume Pro to replace Kingroot with Supersu, and then did a full unroot using Supersu. Rootchecker now shows phone is not rooted and I indeed can't edit system folder files using ES File Explorer. There is no superuser apk in the system app folder and /bin and /xbin do NOT have a "su" file, however /xbin does have "tempsu" and "_su_" files within? Not sure if these can/should be removed.
Any ideas on how to pass CTS?
