Hi
Is there any way to make your own folders to have images and videos in ?
I have root if its possible to do it in the system folders.
Also i wanna remove the "camera shots" folder as it mix videos and pics, if possible
Ty
On your SD card create a folder called
media/pictures/<album name> and copy the pictures into there.
Hello guys,
Is there a way to create folders in my gallery to organize all the pics that I have?
I have tried to create using ASTRO folders in DCIM \ Camera and and I have added some photos but when I open Gallery from my phone I can only see Camera Shots and All photos. I tried to move the folders in DCIM direcly same result.
Is there a way to do this?
And also in DCIM I see all new videos and phots are stored in 100MEDIA but I have a Camera folder, what is this Camera folder used for?
Thanks
You need to remount your SD card for your phone to see the new folders (or reboot). Try SD Mount or Reload SD from the market. Everytime you add new photos or new folders, remount your card, and your gallery should show the photos and folders. Personally, I create folders inside the media/pictures folder on my SD card, which works fine for me. Hope this helps

Good work! You inadvertantly answered another query I had regarding moving pictures into the pictures folder!
Does anyone know the location of the wallpapers folder?
Thanks!!
I have been trying to track down a culprit that has been creating over 1GB of thumbnails in the .thumbnails directory in the root (not off of DCIM). After much googling, I got nothing.
Basically, off of the phone's storage, sdcard0, there is a hidden .thumbnails directory. In there is a folder for every single video I have on my external SD card. The folder is named "Movie_6xxx", where 6xxx is a number, like "Movie_6634". In that folder are 13 files for each video - 12 named "filename.0000.lvl" to "filename.0011.lvl", plus a 13th file named "filename.ListView.lvl".
If I delete the files, it stays empty until the phone is put on the charger. Then the files are regenerated.
I have checked running programs and such, but I cannot find the culprit that is doing this. Gallery creates thumbnail files, but I think those are off of DCIM and are less than 100MB in size. This .thumbnails off of the root is 1.3GB in size - a definite problem.

This guy had the exact same problem, with no apprent solution:

Anyone got any ideas?
I don't know what application do that, i simply delete the .thumbnails directory and create a .thumbnails empty file. Phone works well, with no problems with gallery or video player.

If you go into the "Thumbnails" tab of the stock video player, you will see that your video files are "animated". I rather suspect that the thumbnails you are talking about have been created by the media scanner to provide those animations.
No idea how to turn this behaviour off I'm afraid.

Dave

I guess you're right, when i remove the directory and replace it a .thumbnails file, there is no more animated video files.
I was hoping for an actual fix/turn it off, but I'm afraid you are right, the ".thumbnails" file seems to be the only way...thanks all.
Anytime I create a new folder and put images in it on my external sd card it shows doubles in the gallery.
There's mnt/extSdCard and storage/extSdCard
I know I can use quickpic but I don't want to, I'd rather use the stock gallery. Is there any way to fix this?
I think it might be caused by transferring photos from dropbox, it doesn't seem to do it if I USB transfer them. Dropbox doesn't give an option to select the path it shows internal or sdcard.
Anyone else experience having duplicate files showing up on stock file manager's home tab and stock music app? I tried deleting both application's data and cache, no progress. It's pretty harmless but it's annoying to see a lot of thumbnails for the same files.
Also, sd card is read only? I can't seem to transfer files via ftp (except for es file explorer which is a known chinese botnet) directly to the micro sd. Any help? Please and thanks.
