For the receivers of the very fist batch that should be arriving to your door step please share your first impressions / photos / videos
I pre ordered the second batch, to be dispatched around may 16th.

I've got the phone since Friday now (3rd day) and it's a great phone.
+ Recharge, overall quality, screen, feel in the hand, amazing speakers.
- Fast drain on batery, yellow tint on the bottom of the screen (as many others)

Phone quality is great
Speakers are loud and crisp
Fast charge is an added bonus.
Camera shutter is instant.
No yellow tint
Buggy OS:
-Sometimes ColorOS reverts my changed settings.
-Phone mutes all notification sounds after a restart.
Dead pixel on far right, the dead pixel is so darn small it's not even noticeable unless you thoroughly search for a dead pixel.

No i have not. It's not much, but it is there...

I got mine on Friday ( 2nd). So far I really like the phone. Same as others have said....
Pros:
Fast charging times
speakers sound quality are really quite good ( this was a bonus for me)
very responsive
lots of theme options
feels like a large Nexus 5 to me.
Cons:
Color OS takes some getting used to
viewing angles are a little washed out ( not as good as my M8 or note 3)
idle time on battery needs some tweaking
Overall I am glad I purchased the 7a.

The os is pretty much in an early alpha state and requires a few more updates to actually be fully usable.
Some features suck battery like it's cotton candy, but the superb sound and awesome screen make up for it.
If you wish to make it through a day on one charge then turn everything you don't need off and change the lock screen because the normal lock screen is glitched and drains your battery on standby.
Overall it's a great device with a not so great operating system.
But people like entropy are already working on the first custom ROMs so that should be handled soon.

I'll preface this by stating I'm coming from a 3 year old HTC Inspire 4g so if somethings seem "wrong" well it's light years difference between the Inspire and this Oppo Find 7a
My first suggestion would be to put the 2.0 beta on it, been running it since yesterday and so far I think it "feels" more stable than the 1.2.x that comes with the phone. Most importantly I haven't had a single SD issue since updating to 2.0b.
Sound/speakers are amazing. Granted I'm no audiophile but considering my other 2 devices, HTC Inspire 4g and HP Touchpad, this sounds night and day better than both.
Speed is blazing, again though I am coming from a 3 year old phone (single core).
Battery life is great for me even from the start. Even w/o comparing it to the abysmal life of my previous device I'd still consider this good.
No yellow tint for me so can't comment on that
The phone is light as heck and the size is great. I thought I'd have problems since I have such small hands but none to speak of.
Downside is no custom rom yet and as I'm used to CM the features and nomenclature are different and a bit annoying having to think about doing something where as I'm used to being able to just do it.
An annoying thing is the flip case that came with the preorder turns the screen on/off which seems like a great idea, it's just implemented wrong. When I put my phone in the cubby hole in my truck the screen turning on and off is distracting. I've read others are discovering it's turning on and off in their pockets too.
No LTE for me until I "backdoor" it since AT&T doesn't recognize this device. I registered it and got a new sim twice and my account still shows that I'm on my Inspire 4g. Granted I don't use a lot of data so not really a priority, but still would be nice to have it even if I don't use it all that much. Then again with the speed and battery life of this phone that might change.

Is ColorOS 2.0 a big difference than what it came with? I am currently on V1.20i. Ive been holding off from rooting until I start seeing some real ROM action.

Screen seems to react a little quicker to touch. 2.0 seems a crisper and smoother rom. I really love the blurr effect. Voice wakeup und Live Weather 2.0 are also pretty nice.

LTE works great if you give them an IMEI from a 4G phone like a Nexus 5. Just call ATT and have them change your IMEI, presto... your LTE will work like a champ!

I had an 4g phone, but not a LTE phone. I gotta borrow a friend's phone one day and do that, eventually.

Solid build but buttons are little bit hard to press IMO.
Great screen. Very bright though. Camera is good.
Color OS features are nice but there is one bug with cellular network battery usage. I think it doesn't go into deep sleep because of it and drains battery on standby mode especially if you have screen off gesture on. If you turn this feature off, it's a lot better. I do not have yellow tint problem.
I wish we can swap back plates like One Plus. I like to use my phone without cover and the back plate is white.
The touch is very responsive. I have to change Touch & hold delay to medium to prevent accidental click while scrolling. Then again, I'm using a screen protector which comes with the phone and it might be the screen protector problem.
The speaker is loud. Really really loud. I am HTC M7 user and I think Find 7 speaker is better than M7.

best phone I ever had.
hardware: Impressive built quality, awsome gorilla glass with almost perfect touch (but I had to remove that **** of screen protector that killed touch sensitive), conversation quality is like havin ur friend talkin beside you and it get signal where other phones die.
software: I m using colorOS 1.2i, it has lacks of some feature, but it sports everything you really need and it does it fast and easy to use. It's like a stock android with kool features. Never had bug like force closing of apps....for me it's much better to use than a touchwiz and I feel like I m using a reactive nexus or a cooked rom.
camera: should I spend words? no...it's the best, there's no competion. it doesnt have any gimmick feature like htc zoe..but it's so easy and fast to find the settings u need, just shoot! and pics are nearly professional.
loudspeaker: it's in gods arena, beside z2 and htc one. if htc m8 is the king in this way, find7a is a prince, and u ll be happy of having.
Battery drain: kernel and governor need to be fixed. I had a good 6% of drain when using it with lte and screen on, but I also had 5.5% in stand by mode. so....here it's how I fixed and now I get 1.5% in standby (tnx to Gsam and Wakelock apps):
-removed stock google news and wheater widget, it doesnt allow sleep mode and it drain 1.5% of battery per hour
-removed yahoo wheater app (removing just widget is unuseful)...saved other 1.5%
-WIFI advanced settings : everythin off but optimization wifi...saved another 1.5%
- I use pattern unlock mode, from ever, someone reported that using stock colorOS mode drains battery
I noticed that when switching off WIFI , 3g/4g connection is already on...never happened with other phones, they all took some seconds for 3g to be working, maybe this means connection drain battery as it never goes really off even when is under wifi? dunno..
something I didnt like , but doesnt matter:
-power button sucks, it s less than half millimeter, so it's very hard to push it. but I dont really care, I use double tap to lock and unlock it!
-back cover. it's good and has grip, nice color and wotever...but it's very very slim and flexible. due it's so slim, antenna works like a blackberry but I m afraid it will destroy itself easily, bcs it's already starting to be flexible at my touch.
-screen: awsome , color are very good, but a more calibrated temperature can improve it. it's not blueish like some reviewr says...but a better temperature could improve its gamma as well, that s very high (I used to calibrate televisions some years ago so I have a special look on screens). at a first look , find7a screen is like an LG g2 screen with a wrong calibration (but more realistic colors ).
-It arrived with a dead pixel , but it s impossible to notice it due it's a full-hd screen, so I really dont give a shot about it.
-yellow screen, there's a yellow ghost at the base of the screen for 2 millimeters...but believe me guyz, I v seen ppl going crazy on forums for this, It's something u can notice only on a completely white screen and if nobody tells u, your not going to see it! but if u love perfection, I can say that it went away after some days of usage...I m sure it's glue and it takes some days of warm screen to be fixed.
-optional case: tnx oppo to send me such a gift in real leather, but I trash it after 1h. software doesnt support this case, having it in my pocket means it opens itself and screen goes on, but when u close it , the screen stays on anyway. I have to open it to pick up a call! wtf! why does it have such a window if I have to open it???
-warranty: oppo policy in europe is to send the phone I dont know where in europe, they will send I dont where in china, someone I dunno will decide if I have to pay to repair the phone. anyway I will pay to ship it. Ok, I accept to save 300€ on s5, m8, z2...and get 1+ if I destroy my find7...
just my opnion, everyone has his needs, wot is good for me can be bad for u...

So what is standby time after your fixes? People complained that the phone drains 50% of battery over night. So if the phone can't keep charge for 2-3 days it is useless for me. I do not use phone lot, so always forget to charge, so I need 2-3 days at least and I am getting 5 days with my current Nexus One.

So apparently 2.0b didn't fix the SD card issue so I'm just going to put in my old 16gb Sandisk that I've been using for a year and half and see what it does. If it works then I'll just assume the card I was sent is faulty/fake. Read speeds are between 20-35 megabytes while copying stuff off of the card onto my hard drive so that seems a bit slowish?

It seems like a lot of people are having problems with the SD cards purchased from Oppo. I wonder if they got a bad batch.

I want my watch to look like a watch. Any apps for always on mode?

So like the title says I want my watch to always be on. So not ambient mode I hate the on and off crap. I want a dimmed but always on watch face if possible. Not worried about battery. Any suggestions?

There's a launcher (?) I think called Swipify I've seen mentioned multiple times for this. There's also at least one face available for purchase on the Play Store that allows you to choose how long it stays on, including always on. I bought it for that gimmick but never really used it. I think it's the "A06 for Moto 360" face.
In any case, understand that "always on" won't make your watch any more a watch than it will a brick, as you're looking at probably less than one hour of battery life with the screen always on.

Well, you're asking if there are apps to do that. I answered that much.
But as far as what you're hoping you'll get, you seriously need to readjust your expectations. It sounds like you didn't do your homework prior to buying this watch. Undoubtedly this is the nicest looking smart watch now. But the battery life is not great. I get about a full day's worth with the screen turning off constantly.
I can guarantee you, you will not get a full day's battery of this watch with the screen always on. I don't know much about the LG G Watch, but I also highly doubt the whole day of battery you're talking about is with the screen on always.
I get what you're saying. It would be ideal. But battery technology is not at a point where it can power a full LCD screen for a whole day on a single battery charge. Try either of the ones I suggested and see how far it gets you. I might do it just for testing purposes at some point.

Take it down a notch bud. I did a lot of research before I bought this device. Perhaps you should do some with the way screens operate. You can in other similar watches like the G watch have everything turn off and throttle down but keep the time on the screen. The g watch turns everything to black and keeps the time and date still on screen. No reason this watch cannot do the same. I was merely asking if an app was released yet that does this. As most apps like the one you listed does this but keeps the CPU throttled up and the screen drawing more power. Hence why the battery gets killed. Do some research before talking next time. there are a million videos on youtube showing you exactly what im talking about.
Love the watch not complaining, I just want to squeez all the goodness out of it I can.

The difference is because of the display technology. As you know (or may not?), LCDs illuminate the entire display, whereas OLEDs (LG, Asus, Samsung) only illuminate the individual pixels, thus reducing power consumption by utilizing a simpler display graphic to use as the 'always on' portion.
To have your Moto 360 always on would be a huge drain on the battery life because of the power consumption to illuminate the display. LCDs are simply not capable of selectively illuminating pixels.

To be fair, the G watch is also LCD. The gear live is amoled.

The reason the g watch is able to is because it's built with a larger battery. I had the g watch briefly and it was nice in terms of battery but just didn't hold a candle to the 360 IMO. It is a quality device though.

I'd like an always on option as well for my moto 360.

The always on mode ...is not actually a always on totally. ..it just dims to show only the dials and not the back ground. ..the lg g watch R and the gear live with oled screens will burn in if they are totally always on. .
But yes. .using apps like facer..you can select which layer you can keep dimmed on always on mode on the lg g watch. ..but that will eat battery up.

Lol. Dude, you really need to do your research. You'd get MAYBE three hours max with the screen on like that. Your attitude against people who are trying to inform you and help you (you know because that's the point of your post where YOU asked for OUR help) is atrocious. If you knew it all you wouldn't need to ask this question. The first guy who responded to you gave you real experience and opinion, and you told him he was exaggerating and to "take it down a notch". Lol.
Ridiculous. Hope you find what you're looking for. Let us know the moment you can get a full day of screen on time with the 360. I won't hold my breath.

Not sure if this helps but like you I like a watch to be a watch and very close second I really like all the features for notifications that the smart watches make. I have had my Moto 360 for a little over a week now and I use it for keeping time and getting the basic notifications like SMS, Emails and Google Now info like weather. I do not have any other apps installed and with the Ambient Mode ON and brightness set to 2 I have been able to get 36 hours (at most) out of it with light to moderate use . The watch face I use is the preinstalled digital one. It dims just right but it will go to a black screen when there is very little movement detected. I can very slightly move my wrist and it will activate the dimmed time mode so I can see it without having to drastically twist my wrist and bring the watch up to my face.

Just to satisfy curiosity, I went ahead and tried this "always on" thing. I used the "A06 for Moto 360" face I mentioned in my initial reply, which is paid for on the Play Store so I won't link. It's not that great looking either, but it does have the option to have the watch Always On.
So, fully charged, I disconnected from the charger at 12:16 PM and changed the face to the one in question. I enabled Always On and set Brightness to max. With no usage of the watch other than to swipe away notifications and to use as a watch (i.e. looking at it for the time), the battery ran out exactly at 4:54 PM, or 4 hours and 38 minutes later. Admittedly, this was longer than my estimated one hour battery life, but again I wasn't doing anything with the watch. I didn't reply to messages, I didn't play games, I didn't check my heartbeat, I didn't control music. Only swipe away notifications and look at the time. Not quite 5 hours.
I guess it may be worth it if you're using a fancy face and going out for a date or something and you're fully charged before going. But it's useless as a daily driver with that kind of battery life.

Now before you go saying it's different due to it's e-ink display, I also own a Microsoft band and it's a color screen. I have my band with the watch always on and I user the sleep monitor every night. It easily lasts through almost 2 days and that's with constant notifications and checking pulse often.
It can most definitely be done.

So a galaxy gear S with tizen OS and amoled screen. With a large display and 3g, WiFi,GPS and phone calling with only 300mah will work for 2 days....
The moto 360 will not... Just accept it and move along

So what's the point of wanting the screen always on? Are your eyes on the screen with your hands at your sides? Are you trying to show off? I don't think the whole "it should be a watch first & foremost" thing is a good enough excuse. As far as I can see, I can tell the time just fine without the screen being on 24/7. As a matter of fact, I guarantee I can tell the time every single time you can if we check our watches at the same time. No added functionality. Decrease in battery life. I see no win here. But to each there own. Charge your watch every 3 hours. I'm happy charging mine every night.

It's definitely wanting others to see his watch when he's not looking at it. Otherwise they see a black screen. I wanted that too but then realized I couldn't and moved on.

I only get 10-14 hours out of mine but I have a bunch of apps installed. Not sure where the battery drain is because its not like most of them stay running. Maybe google fit is the big drain, but its a nice feature and I don't need much more than 12 hours. Hopefully in the future this will get an easier root (without the interface clock) and an underclock for more battery life. That's very possible. I don't need my watch running at 1 GHz and I'm willing to bet the kernel is a huge part of the battery problem (as well as the smaller battery). But hacks could fix the watch I think.

always on display

Anyone keep always on display off due to potential burn in?

I prefer always off, but the terrible implementation of double tap to wake forces me to keep it on.

No... I love it and the now playing music as well. The only issue I have is the AOD is too dim in a pitch black dark room. All other light levels it works fine. :good:

Does it move around like the Samsung phones or will it just burn in?

I don't use it but the AOD moves around, it doesn't stay stationary so it shouldn't cause burn in.

It does not move around on this phone.
Stays same place.

Yeah, it doesn't move nearly enough to alleviate my concern of burn-in. Especially with this screen. On the S8 it would move all over the place, even down to the bottom of the screen. Now, that's how you prevent burn-in. Just moving it back and forth between a few small pixel variations is not going to properly prevent burn-in.
For this reason, I have always on display turned off. Not worth the risk to me.

I don't see how that helps. Burn in is caused by uneven pixel aging. If it's only moving a few pixels back and forth then it's really still the same part of the screen that is having the pixels age more than the rest of the screen.

Always on is always on here, no burn in so far. Works brilliantly.

It's much improved in the dp2. Hopefully that sticks in the final release

One question about the Always On Display (I don't want to open a new thread for this) - is there a way to have the "Lockscreen"/Always-On-Display rotate to landscape mode?
When I am having my Pixel 2 XL on the magnet mount in my car in landscape mode, it would be great that the AoD also rotates...haven't come up with an idea yet, unfortunately.

I didn't say it helps I was just saying it does move to the post I quoted. That said I've had my phone since 10/19 with AOD on ever since and have no burn in.

Ok, my misunderstanding.
I got my phone on 10/24 and so far I have left AOD off. I have "Double-tap to check phone" and "Lift to check phone" turned on.
I have kept AOD off for 2 reason:
1. The fear of burn in. You may not have seen it but it does seem to me to be the most likely thing on the phone to cause burn-in since those pixels would always be on. Between 10 and 12 (am and pm) you would have the 1 digit always on and whatever shift occurs isn't noticeable so it's likely just than the width of pixels of the 1 digit. So you would effectively have pixels literally active 24 hours a day. That kind of worries me so I leave it off just as a precaution.
2. Impact on battery life. Having AOD on results in having to render, refresh and illuminate pixels 24 hours a day. Even with the great battery life I could still see the battery life being noticeably decreased.

I really wish there was more customization options, or at least the battery status displayed for AOD.

1. The fear of burn in. You may not have seen it but it does seem to me to be the most likely thing on the phone to cause burn-in since those pixels would always be on. Between 10 and 12 (am and pm) you would have the 1 digit always on and whatever shift occurs isn't noticeable so it's likely just than the width of pixels of the 1 digit. So you would effectively have pixels literally active 24 hours a day. That kind of worries me so I leave it off just as a precaution.
2. Impact on battery life. Having AOD on results in having to render, refresh and illuminate pixels 24 hours a day. Even with the great battery life I could still see the battery life being noticeably decreased.

Fair enough. I tried turning it off last night and by this morning I turned it back on. Just getting ready for work this morning I missed not being able to glance over at the time as well as seeing it in my car on the dock. If there was a way to turn it on schedule or something that'd be nice. Maybe tasker could do it somehow..

If you use Accubattery, it displays the charge level on AOD with a circle around it. After the N6P I was paranoid about the battery so installed AB to confirm my battery was solid. (106% capacity). It may be a workaround until some dev comes along and provides that without having to install an app. Also THIS ARTICLE in XDA gives some hope. See the last paragraph on "other applications". :good:

I have a question on AOD. If you are listening to Google Play Music, does it show what song you are listening to? Or do you have to go to the actual lockscreen to see that? Thanks.

Android P what have they done with the brightness?

Just installed P and now previous brightness level of 63 it's so dim? I have to have it almost on 90% brightness now, why have they messed with this, it was fine as it was

Same for me. WTF Google?

The actual brightness is the same, they just changed how the slider works. The first half moved it fast, last half moved it slower. Now the slider is more uniform.

It's definitely not smooth across the entire range, all my brightness is almost all the last 10% and actually a pain to set properly, it's worse for me.

That's more accurate because in bright indoor lighting or outside it's going to be towards the end of the scale. Dim indoor lighting I'm currently at 43%. And in pitch black it goes to 0%. I pretty much never touch my slider anymore after a couple adjustments. Don't get caught up on the percentages. I would be willing to bet that with Oreo at 40% and Pie at 90% the lumens output of the screen was the same.

Yeah I don't touch mine once it is setup generally but it's definitely not even throughout the scale, only gets really bright from like 85% onwards, just seems odd the real brightness is so high up, makes for fine tuning a bit difficult.

The screen has been rated a minimum of 1.78 nits and a maximum of 496 so if it truly is linear now, 50% is something like only 247 which isn't that bright at all.

So much for AI on adaptive brightness, it's rubbish, and why do Google try to fix things that aren't broken, who needs AI for adjusting a backlight? Seems nothing more than just being able to market the phone as having AI! Never had an issue on Oreo, had it set at 25% with adaptive brightness and it was always the correct brightness wherever I was, which shouldn't be difficult given it's got a sensor to read the light levels.
Now since Pie, last night I turned my phone on in the dark and was blinded by a bright display (Oreo it would have been at it's lowest level in the dark), so turned the brightness down, turned it again later and the same thing, way too bright, and again this morning in a fairly dark room the same thing, far too bright, so I turn it down again. How long will it take to learn? The old method it was tamed immediately, now I'm constantly fiddling with the brightness, how is that progress!
Is there an option to go back to the old method?
Wish I hadn't bothered upgrading, just another year with an Android update with changes for changes sake.

Totally agree on this. Adaptive battery and adaptive battery are almost non-sense. Only something cool to brand the item.
And Pixel Visual Core is just something super-expensive to make Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter cameras use HDR+. I'd rather pay something less and not having this feature that is probably expensive (or modifies the perception of the Pixel 2 as super-new and mega futuristic). Also, I've got the feeling they won't use it for Pixel 3 or 4.
Moto X1 was the last to use more CPUs to optimize the phone, before Qualcomm introduced more chips.

For me, I hate these updates that break simple basic functionality and overall add nothing extra to what we had with Oreo. Google really need to test these things properly and stop trying to fix things that simply are not broken!

Auto brightness never worked well on any of my Samsung's, uses excessive battery pi$$es off my retinas, so i always use manual control. It's not just a Pixel thing
Personally I rather see a review where the reviewer finds flaws and pick away at them; it shows candor. The endless mainstream reviews of Samsung flagship duds that give them glowing reviews to boost sales are so old and predictable. Reddit gives better reviews
Updates break things. Upgrades destroy worlds.
Leave it be unless you see them working miracles for other users after a couple months. Trust more what individual users and small fry reviewers say than CNET, Tom's Guide, Phonearena, etc.
Take what you got, optimize it, and find work arounds rather than constantly updating and upgrading it. Every time you update and especially upgrades you change the playing field and you can end up starting the optimization/work around process all over again. Like a reoccurring nightmare. Who wants a phone with an identity crisis that's constantly morphing into variants you have no control over?
I want a fast, stable, reliable platform that fulfills its mission. I have no desire to be an unpaid perpetual bataware tester for something I paid big bucks for!
You may not agree with what I just stated. I don't respond to sales/scare hype. I want to see rubber biting into the bloody asphalt not just a cloud of smoke and noise.
Case in point is this N10+ in my hand still running extremely well on Pie. Current load will be 2 yo this June. It's fast, stable with minimal maintenance and bug free. I spend very little time troubleshooting it now. Security is not an issue.

Interesting, i have a Pixel 6 Pro, my wife has a Pixel 6 and my best mate has a Pixel 6 Pro and apart from the fingerprint sensor being a bit off to start with i cant say we have had any problems since the phone came out.
I've never known adaptive brightness work particulaly well on any phone i have owned to be honest so thats just the norm for me.

Auto-brightness has been abysmal on this phone since the beginning. It really shouldn't be, not when they're employing two ambient light sensors. It's especially painful because I use the device in dark environments very often (have a baby, use it to play sleeps sounds to him while he falls asleep) and it never assesses the brightness correctly. The torch thing is also a massive irritation, since it ramps the display brightness up to max in a pitch dark setting, then takes an age to eventually move down to a more acceptable brightness, but not without blinding you first.
I've never had this problem with any Samsung device employing dual ambient brightness sensors; on the contrary, I've always found the brightness settings to be close to perfect on these devices, even the ones where the front sensor shifted under the screen.
Signal is a significant weakness on this phone as well. Whenever I pop to the stores, I regularly find myself without signal when inside the store. I have to literally walk out and walk back in to restore some signal in case I need to call my wife or message her. I can honestly say that weak signal is not the biggest issue to me, it's that is just about disappears in places I have had no issue with other devices. And it's also something that seems to be a problem for me with Pixels, at least on my carrier. This is just the worst I've experienced by a long shot and has me pausing for safety reasons.
The fingerprint reader is not great, but it's much less terrible than it was at the beginning. I've not been as impressed with the cameras as I thought I would
There are still weird bugs (Google Assistant randomly pops up from time to time; changing wallpapers causes the quick settings toggles to disappear until you fully open the notification panel; the April update randomly reset all my custom notification tones; app search sporadically stops working; lift to wake and tap to wake still way too sensitive) and Google has actually regressed in some UX aspects (removing the vibrate icon from the main status bar; the internet tile; the choice of UX around the always on display; etc) compared to even Android 11.
Overall, this is still a great device, and fluidity of the experience is second to none. Too bad about the almost unbearable signal and effectively non-functional auto-brightness.

Adaptive brightness is close to perfect on the S22U. It can be implemented successfully with the right hardware.

thats why i said on any phone i have owned.

The voice to text is strangely broken on this phone. I see many people complain about it specifically on the 6, whereas all previous pixels had excellent voice text accuracy. I still use it primarily for messaging and just accept that people think I'm illiterate.

I'd agreed with the hardware issues. The antenna isn't as good as any of Qualcomm's recent stuff in signal and battery, and the fingerprint reader (which I'd probably rate as "fine" at this point) is still a notable dropoff from the one on the back of the phone.
But there's other complaints from that video that have never been a problem here. Wi-Fi Calling is the one that sticks out that's been great on my device.
