- T R E B L E Y -Android Partition TreblerizerA tool able to seamlessly create / remove the vendor partition from within TWRP
INTRODUCTION
The creation of a tool able to create and remove the supplier partition from TWRP, so a computer was not required. So I created this flaming TWRP ZIP which can create and remove the vendor partition from the userdata system or partitions without a computer and without deleting the files in the mother partition in the recommended configuration.
In this way, our device can also have a treble just like a phone that came out of the factory with the vendor partition without touching the cust partition.
The tool will try to resize the mother partition without deleting it, either during the creation and removal of the supplier partition. However, this can only be done when the mother partition is ext4, only when the supplier partition is at the end of the mother partition and when the mother partition is not encrypted. The recommended configuration is the one that is obtained by selecting the first option in each option: subdividing 512 MB from the end of the system partition. A reboot is required after applying the patch to the partition table because the kernel needs to reload it before doing anything else.
REQUIREMENTS
Due to the use of a key detection binary, it is compatible only with ARM and ARM64 devices running TWRP. So far I have tested it in the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 but It should work in any compatible device. I made it this way so other legacy devices could transition to Treble ROMs + GSI, and Android Pie. Please let me know about other devices using this tool!!!!!
INSTALLATION
WARNING, THIS SOFTWARE COULD WIPE ALL THE DATA IN YOUR DEVICE, INCLUDING THE INTERNAL STORAGE.
IT REQUIRES TWRP CUSTOM RECOVERY IN AN UNLOCKED DEVICE, OTHERWISE YOUR DEVICE COULD BE BRICKED.
!!! Whatever you do, it is at your own risk !!!
Either for creating or removing a vendor partition,, follow these steps:
1. Download the TWRP ZIP tool to your External SD card.
2. Boot to TWRP recovery, under Install, flash the ZIP file as any other ROM or MOD file to execute the tool.
3. Reboot to recovery again to ensure the changes are applied properly.
4. In some cases you will need to format the mother partition after adding or removing the vendor partition next to it.
CREATE A VENDOR PARTITION:
So far these are the available options:
Mother partition selection: system / userdata
Split position: Splitting from the end / start of the mother partition.
Vendor partition size: 512 / 915 MB
REMOVE THE VENDOR PARTITION:
Should a Vendor module already exists, Trebley offers to remove it, returning to a Non-Treble partition table. It will return the space to the mother partition, system or userdata. So, older non Treble ROMs could be flashed after the mandatory reboot.

CAUTION
Currently, in order to work project treble with this method, two things are missing, a TWRP Modified appropriate to work with the vendor partition (THAT WILL BE loaded in the coming days), and a kernel (also in the coming days).

Back up your phone's data
Make sure your XZP has been brushed with the latest official 9.0 firmware
Have certain risks
1 Brush twrp to restart the phone into twrp
2 Copy make_vendor.sh to the internal storage root directory of the phone
3 Enter the twrp terminal command interface (advanced terminal)
Enter the following command to split the 800MB from the system partition to create a vendor partition.
sh make_vendor.sh
4 Restart the phone and enter the twrp terminal command interface. Enter the following command and press Enter to format the system and vendor.
make_ext4fs /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system
make_ext4fs /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/vendor
5 Restart the phone and enter the twrp card brush XZP_47.2.A.10.107_PT and boot.
If you want to restore the partition, you can completely brush the 9.0 firmware.
The partition script comes from the network, the original author should be xda, thanks.
The file was changed from the official firmware of XZP and XZ1.
You can use the official vendor to brush gsi.

I moved make_vendor.sh to internal storage, root, but terminal in twrp cannot find it. Or I get: can't open "make_vendor.sh"

I’m using 2 apps that I have downloaded from the Google Play Store. They are called, Treble Info, and Treble Check.
Treble Info shows A/B system partition (arm64)
Treble Check shows A only system partition
My question is, what system partition variant should I choose when I go and download the GSI from Phhusson’s GitHub repo?
And another question is, the device doesn’t have a TWRP build released yet. And the device doesn’t have a proper fastboot/bootloader mode. So how would I install the GSI and wipe the system?

Well, I wish that there was a special special section for the Honor 8X MAX, as there was so many things we can add to it, but well, let's post in this section
Most devices that came with Android 8.1 are likely to be Treble GSI compatible, so, the thng is that you just gotta find what Partition it uses.
For this device, it was kinda tricky as it was supposed to be A partition but I found out that it on EMUI 8 neither or AB worked, so after several tests, I found out that using any EMUI 9, we gotta use AB and not A, so I tried LOS 17.1 and worked like a charm but as TWRP is not the best for this device and I did not want to bother decrypt it, then root and install GAPPS, I preferred to install AOSP 10 from phhusson now and it works like a charm. The pros of this rom are that it is already "Rooted" and "Gapped", so I would highly recommend it :good:
Requirements::
* Unlocked Bootloader (Not explained here, so you need to use HCU Unlock and purchase a credit for that);
* Your Recovery has to be stock, so if you have TWRP, I recommend to reflash the stock one;
* Choose an ARM64 AB GSI Rom from here;
BUGS:
1. The device might show as not certified, so you won't be able to use any Google services until you register your device. Guide from Androidsage to help doing that;
2. Brightness seems to be at 50% when set at a maximum. This issue might be due to the Vendor Overlays (not a 100% sure though), I am investigating this, but I am using the device as it is and it is fine for me, until we find a solution for it.
Quick Guide:
1. Turn off your phone and then start it with Power and VOL+, until you see the message of the unlocked phone;
2. Wait until you see the Stock recovery not eRecovery;
3. Wipe and reset, Type "YES" and wait for wiping;
4. Plug the USB Cable to PC, reboot the phone while pressing VOL - ;
5. You should see the Android Fastboot now;
6. On Windows download ADB tools and Linux or Mac they can be added using terminal (You can find it easily by doing a simple search);
7. To make sure the phone is correctly connected, type in the CMD Line or Terminal: fastboot devices ;
8. You should see a series of numbers, so now you can flash by typing: fastboot flash system WHATEVERGSIIMAGEYOUCHOOSE.IMG ;
9. Wait about 2-3 minutes and then when the flash is finished, type: fastboot reboot ;
10. That's it! Your phone should now boot to your preferred GSI ROM with more or less everyhing working

I've faced a situation when trying to flash many GSI img's (Lineage 18, Pixel Exp+, AOSP). The recovery (stock then TWRP) returned "image is too large for the partition". I've ARE-AL00C (4/128) with unlocked BL. Is there any workaround ?

Some images simply do not work, so you will need to check for other images simply.

of course you'll need Device+ID.apk and register ID with Google but that's easy and simple

The Quack version works but sadly it is Android 10. I have found many Android 12L GSI roms that I would like to use but the brightness is an issue on all of them. Anyone know how to copy the Quack backlight vendor display and patch it to the newer GSI roms? Tried buildprop GSI wont boot (Crdroid, Lineage 19) Tried Dirty flashing, obviously didn't work. Can't seem to find the file containing the slider brightness limitations. Phherson gives rom backlight options and tried several combinations, and yes rebooted everytime none of them work. Any ideas?

After trying many different gai variants and versions I found they all have an issue with browsers. Both chrome and edge freeze after scrolling a bit. I'm wondering if this because the GSI uses too much storage space and cannot buffer? Tried to port GSI onto other partitions such as cust, prod didn't work. Even Magisk flashes successfully but does not appear in the rom. The a and b is confusing like EMUI uses both and the TWRP does not decrypt and no Verity commands don't work either. The havoc rom seems to work the best with gapps pico flashed.
~ Android 12 backlight issues had to revert to android 10
~ All GSI have the common browsers freezing. Have to use VIA browser (basic)
~ Magisk won't install have to port to ramdisk, but isn't that the TWRP recovery?

Got false
But when i flash havoc-os a only system it bootloop
So my question is am i suppose to flash a only or ab?

Also I've only got 3.12GB system partition with no way of resizing it as this device has a dynamic partition
Plus the file name is makemesar and I'm sure that my devices is all ready system as root enabled.
This is just for ensuring you have AB, you can ignore it
System partition, hmmm, you can only flash small roms
I can confirm that you are suppose to use a/b img.
I flashed https://download.havoc-os.com/arm64-ab/Havoc-OS-v4.1-20210208-arm64-ab-Official.img.xz.
Unlike A-only img it booted and worked kindof.
I will not recommend this though as there is no way flash gapps for android 11 and not enough space to flash with a/b with gapps.
Also switched backed to lineage as it was causing random reboots.
Any help over making gsi stable will be much appreciated.

When I restored the backup it failed but I was able to boot to lineage os which still contain gapps and magisk.
Since it showed failed I clean install everything again. The recovery read something like something something product partition, odm partion, system partiton.
Don't know if these logs are useful but I've attracted them below
