[Q] Any burn in? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I have a Note 8 and am considering the Note 10+ for me and my wife. I was just trying to get a feel for how bad burn in is on this phone. I don't really have any on my Note 8, but my wife's Note 8 is a burn in disaster. She started getting burn in from the notification bar area within the first month of owning it and it's gotten much worse on the whole phone over the two years that she's had it.
Whenever I go to Best Buy and look at all of the Note 10 and Note 10+ that they have, I don't see any burn in but I realize that they no longer just leave the phones sitting on the home screen. They have screen savers and the demo videos that they run.

Anyone go from Galaxy Nexus to Note II ?

Would like opinions, on anyone here that went from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, to the Note II ? I am looking to switch soon, maybe the Nexus 4, or try something fresh like the Note II.
How was adjusting to the larger size of the Note II, over the Nexus ? Screen technology noticeably better, or just slightly ? Battery life, I assume is better on the Note II vs Nexus ?
Are you overall happy with the Note II, or want a Nexus phone again instead ?
I went from the GN to the S3 to now the Note 2. Even with the extended battery the GN had an on screen time of maybe 2.5-3 hours. The S3 was about 4 hours or so screen time. The Note 2 gets 6-8 hours on screen time. It's amazing the battery life. This is with wifi being used 75% of the time. I had no problem graduating from 4.65" to 4.8" to 5.5". Love the screen. Both the GN and the S3 are pen tile display and the Note 2 is not. It is noticeably better and more vibrant. Go to TMo and wrap your hands around one. You'll leave the store with it and a smile on your face.

I did the same. ...gnex to sgs3 to note 2. Best phone I ever owned is by far the Note 2! I do not regret my choice at all.

i upgraded from my nexus to the note about a week ago...had to get used to the size of the screen but i did...now every other phone looks small and colors look dull...i held my nexus in my hand after not touching it for a couple of days...the phone felt heavy and screen seems so tiny lol
the battery life is definitely better than the nexus and it is definitely noticeable...i must also say, i missed having an SD card slot soooo much...i am using a 16 gb card but am planning on getting a 64 gb so that space will never be an issue...with my nexus i had to constantly monitor what i kept on my phone...it sucked..if you are planning on rooting the note 2 you MUST get a decent sized SD card...some roms run up to about 1 gb and a nandroid backup can range anywhere from 2 gb to 4 gb (depending on apps)
one thing you are going to miss leaving the nexus is development...nexus will always get fast updates and have a ton of roms to choose from
the ONLY thing that i have to really get used to is carrying around such a large device..even if you get used to it, carrying such a large device over a traditional sized phone is always gonna feel different
OG SGS to NOTE 2. Imagine the shock in size and performance lol
Just in a different order, I went from the S3 to the Galaxy Nexus, to the Note 2. While I enjoyed the customizations I found on the Nexus, I don't think I need them anymore. I took about 4-5 hours and set up Go Launcher just right (borrowing a lot from Coldfustion's video on youtube) and now I can't even recognize touchwiz. There's not a single thing I miss, tbh.
I came from the nexus ... screen is alot bigger.
I also miss the some of the camera effects.
I came from the nexus too, and sometimes I find myself missing that phone . Having the option of AOSP is always nice. I really like the Holo theme over the TouchWiz theme. I don't like the colors in TouchWiz that much.
The size takes some getting used to, but once you do it's hard to get back.
What I miss the most though is the bevy of Rom choices, even though I exclusively AOKP.

I'm definitely itching for a new phone. Have the GS3 but considering Note 2 or Nexus 4. Leaning towards Note right now.

There is no comparison really. throwing a 64gb microsd card into this phone ensured this phone as cream of the crop in my book. And then I charged the phone a day and a half later, and forgot about any of the other new phones.
I came from iPhone 4 > Nexus S > Galaxy SII > Galaxy Nexus > a still shipping note II.
Every upgrade has been a happy one, and I really can't wait to get the note II and become a part of this awesome note II community

I came from the GN as well its a great phone but once you get used to the size the Note 2 is on a whole new level. Its pretty amazing I was pretty skeptical at first but I dont put the thing down. Luckily the battery life...well I don't even really think about the battery because it last forever.
Came from Galaxy Nexus (unlocked)
I came from A Nexus Like so many, But dont miss it that much. I thought with not having the latest update I would be worried its not that bad. The size for me is alot better due to having larger hands. Think about the note 2 commerical with the basketball player. Anyway I have not looked back. I even thought about the Nexus 4 but I just love the size of the note 2 . I would recommend finding a case first before buy the phone. It is VERY slippery And you may drop it before leaving the store. Happen to Me and 2 other people. Just my 2 cents.
why i went to the note 2...

I went from a Google Play Store Galaxy Nexus to my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2.
1. Size: the first few days the phone feels crazy big but after you start using it; it starts feeling like a normal phone. def not an easy one handed usable phone but thats ok with me. I notice that any 4.3" phone feels "super tiny".. my co-workers are prob sick of me saying "man, your phone's tiny!".
2. Screen looks just as good if not better than the Gnex imo. then again, i'm not screen expert or that picky. touchscreen responsiveness is excellent.
3. battery life for me is crazy awesome. i get about 20-22hrs on a charge w/these type of settings and apps running:
activesync work email w/PUSH email
gmail
facebook - sync every 3 hours
twitter - sync every 4 hours
google reader - sync every 6 hours
dropbox - autoupload photos on wifi/cell data
yahoo weather widget - update every hour
display timeout after 2mins
auto brightness
auto sync for google apps
GPS, Wifi, BT all one but not always connected to devices.
4. I LOVE MY NOTE 2! would never go back. i've been the type that usually had a android phone and a tablet.. now.. i just have my Note 2 and am very satisified w/the form factor. the S-Pen was a huge factor in my purchase too. i wanted to try replacing my outdated post-it notes w/a digital solution. i had tried to do this previously w/my Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet but it was too big, too slow and just horrible software.
Hope that helps! :highfive:

Samsung, give AlwaysOn to Note 4 and Note 5 users as well

https://www.engadget.com/2016/10/16/samsung-galaxy-s7-gets-note-7-feature/
They are doing it for s7, but we are faithful too. We didn't go to another manufactures but are waiting for whatever successor on Note 7 that will come. They should give us some kick-ass update. Come on!
I'm not certain that the hardware in the Note 4 and Note 5 would be capable of this particular capability - I have it on my Galaxy S7 Active by default since it's the device that is most closely matched to the Note 7 and released only a month before.
I like this kind of thing personally, as I had the Active Display tech on my original Moto X years ago. I would prefer it does actually disappear unfortunately, Samsung decided to make it "always on" and while it might not use a lot of battery I'd still prefer the option to have it only appear every few minutes or immediately when a notification comes in.
But if they can backport it to the older devices, fantastic, I just wouldn't count on it happening.
EDIT:
Just noted an update for AOD I hadn't caught from October 14th, they added a few new clock faces to it, pretty slick. The one thing - aside from being able to make it an action that appears/disappears at intervals - would be that the info displayed moves across the device at intervals because Super AMOLED like any OLED panel is a limited lifespan thing: having the same pixels lit up bright white for extended periods just reduces their lifetime so moving the clock/info to various places would at least cause less usage of that limited lifespan.
It's to prevent burn in.

I understand that for some folks the S7 was a workable phone, but some of us just can't be without our S-Pen. That left the Note 5 as our most closely matched phone. There are apps out there that will bring AlwaysOn to your Note 5. I have managed to get most of my functionality back on my Note 5. The only thing I won't get back is the $100 I was charged to downgrade my phone.
Yep, went Note 5 as well after returning Note 7.
I'd LOVE an AOD feature baked in. It doesn't even need to be as fully featured as the S7, just time, notifications. No color needed IMHO. (Gives us the feature, but also the "Not all of it" since we went back a generation - even if forced. The Apps for AOD are just battery hogs, even with the AMOLED screen.

note 2 screen burn in

Hi guys sorry if this has been addressed before on here I did search with no luck.
My note 2 has terrible screen burn which is common for amoled/oled screen it seems but is there any way of fixing it or at least making it better without buying a new screen ?, a new screen costs around £70+ which I can't seem to justify for a 3 year old phone, I do like it though and if there is anything I can try I will I might even get a new screen but will it just burn in again?....
I've seen burn in fixer apps on playstrore but I'm not too sure, any help greatly appreciated.
I don't think there is any way to get rid of burned-in images with software.
Thanks would you say it's worth replacing the lcd the full assembly is around £70-£100+ here in the UK ! I could get a excellent condition note 3 off eBay for £150.
Would the burn in fixer apps make anything worse if I left it to run 8-10 hours? Should I be put off amoled displays now? This phone was lightly used since new for the past year and always kept on auto brightness what gives this phone is almost unusable on white screens.

Note 7 Successful Life! Now what?

I kept my Note 7 from Verizon. I disabled Samsung's update app through ADB which prevented ALL of the device killing updates from ever even appearing. This is the second version Note 7, with the green battery charging icon, that I obtained after I brought my first Note 7 back for the first recall.
I have since used my Note 7 ever since, with zero problems of any kind. And I just ordered my new Note 9 to replace it, 512GB and 8GB RAM. Fantastic journey!!!
I'm going to keep m Note 7 and was wondering if any definitive solutions for replacing the battery ever emerged? My Note 7 is at the point where it's battery's capacity has simply diminished from normal use. I have every single battery sucking feature always enabled - high accuracy location scanning, etc. I get a few hours out of a full charge before I'm getting low, plus I get precipitous zeroing in cold weather. Like, the phone shuts off if I leave it in the front pocket of my jacket when downhill skiing, when the battery gets below 40%.
So, I *would* like to replace the battery at some point, for that issue. Will an FE battery just go into it as a direct replacement? I did buy an S8+ battery at one point, after reading that it looked like it would fit/work, but I never got around to trying it. And tonight I just read later that it supposedly won't fit/work. So, I was rewarded for my inaction, in that case

Can you share your ROM?

Sorry for mistopic, but can you share your ROM somehow?
My N930V is simply killing me. Interface lags are constant with lots of crashes.
I believe to have the first version without green battery, maybe it's software is not as good as second one.
Can't find any solutions for this on the web unfortunately.

John, I have a little insight on replacing your battery. Luckily, all Samsungs S6 and up have the same connector. If you are able to find a battery that fits, whether it be an S7 or S7 edge battery, you might be able to do this repair yourself! I haven't had the opportunity to attempt this repair, as I live in a small town, and the device is almost unheard of nowadays. I work at a mobile repair shop with a national branch, known as CPR Cell Phone Repair. I'll do a little more research on this, and give you a reply with an answer on whether or not it's possible.
The battery protection circuit has been *unofficially* identified as the culprit of these devices. So in that case, use a different device's battery, right?
Thanks,
-Mark

You know, I bought a new battery for an S7 edge for it, but never tried installing it because I did some more reading and thought I saw something that made me think it wouldn't fit or have the correct connector or something.
But, I still have the phone and the new battery and it would be way cool to still do the replacement! The original battery is just really tired and beat. It was diwn to holding maybe a third of its original charge capacity. It would be like having a new phone again if I got a working replacement battery into it!! ??

screen burn

I am thinking of upgrading to a Samsung S10 when they are released however I have a question about the s9 which will help me make my decision on the S10. Is screen burn still an issue on the s9 as I have seen s8 phones in the past with the issue and wanted to know if it was still an issue in the s9 ?
Thanks
Never had an issue with screen burn on my s9 g960f

Me too
I have S8(19 months old) and an S9(9 months old) and no burn in on neither of the phone. I have 3 friends with S8 and same, no burn in problems.

I have an S8 with serious burn in from Navigation apps but I'm a full-time Uber/Lyft driver so it's to be expected. If you take care and don't leave the same static image on your screen for extended periods of time at full brightness (like I have to daily) then you should be fine. As for the different models, it's possible on pretty much all OLED screens regardless of the manufacturer which is why you don't see OLED computer monitors (taskbar would burn in).
S9 problem still occurs
Hi guys the missus bought the s9 so she had the better phone I've also got the dreaded screen burn on the s8 from Facebook logos and now the missus as also the problem with the Facebook symbols on tops of the screen. I'm not going to bother with the upgrade think its got the same old amoled screen so u are still going to get the dreaded screen burn. If u are playing your favourite games or Facebook app.
