I'd like to be able to remove all these apps from my menu but some of them, like (IM), provide functionality for other apps. Removing the shortcut in the menu but not the actual application

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew how the android system handles applications in memory. Here are my observations.
1. I go to "running services" and see a short list of my active apps.
2. I then go to "advanced task killer" and see a huge lists of apps, even apps that are not in the "running services" list.
I know android sends inactive applications to the "background". Do the apps under advanced task killer that are not in running services have any detrimental effects on my battery life?
While I have you attention do widgets take up a lot of memory and batter use? I think widgets make my "desktop" look really cool, but if they eat up battery life and memory then I can live with out them.
Just wondering because when the list starts to fill up the recent apps take longer to load when you press the task list button.
Is there a way to increase the limit of apps that can be grouped from 16?
thx
edit... realized that NovaLauncher doesn't have this limit... can the stock Launcher limit be raised?
I am using AIO Toolbox which has a function to disable user apps and system apps from starting with the phone, since most of those are installed i figure they arent important and i can disable them all but with system apps its a bit more difficult to know and there are 168 in total
For example a system app that i never use is google music, briefing, cnn for edge panel, fb, game launcher, gear vr, game tools, yahoo etc;
Should i use AIO toolbox is there a better way to do so, is there any adverse effect, or does samsung automatically not allow those never used apps to affect battery life
