Voice remote and 4k - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to switch my 4k remote to a non4k stick which I had no problem doing but I can't seem to sync the remote (with voice capabilities) to the 4k stick. Is this possible or no?

If you're trying to add a 4k remote to another fire device, only some of them (like the 2nd gen stick) will pair with it, but only after you fully update the stick.
Pairing a standard voice remote to a 4k stick shouldn't be a problem.

TIP: Use Sony Tv Remote as Fire tv Remote?

I have Sony KDR60R550A and i accidentally figured out that I can use my TV remote play, pause and navigation buttons to actually navigate Amazon Fire TV. It works with any app inside Fire tv.
Sorry if this is known tip.
i think it's not the remote that will work solo,
it's cause your hdtv uses cec.
also my samsung tv remote can be used, also the touchmouse (not synced with ftv but with samaung tv) just google for cec ^-^

Yeah, is a bummer my Lg42LB5600 doesn't support CEC, at least the remote doesn't do nothing to the fire stick.
But it worked on my Samsung and my older 32 toshiba.
I'm thinking of getting one of this down the road and install it on the LG tv.

Anything to help reduce the number of remotes I guess.

That auction for the HDMI break-out box is to separate out the Audio Return Channel from the HDMI cable. It may pass CEC commands, but it doesn't seem to be a CEC injector.

I don't think it will work in my scenario because everything is routed through the bose lifestyle which cuts out all CEC related items. I'll test it out tonight though. Thanks for the tip.
My remote also works with cec but when I am in kodi how to go back to the home fire TV without quiting kodi or how to simulate the home button of the original remote?

I'm happy to report that my sony remote too works even when it goes through the bose lifestyle. Here are my observances.
1. No Additional features can be used such as the number pad of the Sony Remote.
2. The range is limited to Infrared and the remote must be pointed to the TV vs. the firetv remote which has a great range.

[Q] Remote controll for Fire tv OneForAll ?

Hello every one.
Does any one know how this works !
I have a Sony Bravia KDL 24EX320 TV, and the fire tv box,
I allso have a number of other boxies to controll,
so I have a "OneForAll 7960" remote controll witch is surpossed to be just a "IR" remote,
But I have found that I can controll my Fire tv box with it, I can move though the menues and seclect things with it.
I just though I would let people know about this incase it could be helpfull to some one.
Are you doing this when TV is selected?
If so, it is controlling through HDMI CEC.
I did that with my Sharp tv, but it does not work with my Panasonic.
Yep, it's gotta be hdmi cec. Fire TV doesn't have a ir receiver built in.

I think it only works for Sony tvs. I have the 55W829 and i can use the tv remote for my Amazon fire tv as well. Also works when Kodi is enabled.

[Q] Using FireTV native Slingplayer app with remote. Is it easier?

I have been using my Slingbox Pro HD with Slingplayer tablet apk sideloaded to the FTV. However to use it to change channels and select options I need to use a Keyboard/Mouse combo to move around and navigate.
The Native and New Slingplayer app built for FTV doesn't work with the PRO HD. It only works on Slingbox 350, 500, and M1. I was wondering if the new Slingplayer app was easier to navigate with the FTV remote? I am mainly using it to control a XBOX 360 with WIndows media Center to stream my cable card. Anyone know how hard it is to rewind/ff and access recordings and change channels with the FTV remote only?
Thanks.
The native Slingplayer app works well with the Fire TV remote. The one feature that's missing is the SlingPlayer guide. Instead, it access the box's guide function, which is useless due to the delay between clicks. I end up using my tablet or smartphone to get the TV listings and then punch in the channel number with the Fire TV remote. Another annoyance is the quality always resets to the lowest setting when the app starts. However, I tested the regular, tablet, and Fire TV apps and the Fire TV app produces better video quality at the highest settings.
Thanks for the info!

Skype on Fire TV to access TV's in built cam

This maybe wishful thinking, but i am wondering if anybody has tried connecting Fire TV or any other android tv box to make skype calls using TV's inbuilt camera.
I guess usual connection would not work anyhow since its only HDMI and tv box cannot access tv's inbuilt cam.

Remote (1st gen voice remote) does not pair to FireTV Stick 4k

I have a FireTV Stick 4K with latest offical firmware and trying to pair a Alexa Voice Remote (1st Generation). I really tried everything, but the FireTV does not recognise it
I still have an old Basic Edition Remote, that does pair without any problems.
I also reset the Voice Remote as descirbed in the amazon help (tried all button combinations, also from the other remotes). Removed batteries, restarted FireTV, even reset FireTV, tried pairing with home button after restart, tried pairing ober the menu with add new remote... nothing...
I thought it's broken, but it does pair after reset (with left button and menue button) to an old FireTV 2 (which i normaly no longer use). So the remote seems to work. Because i get it done with other remote and on other FireTV hardware i also shouldn't be too stupid to just do it right...
And because the old basic remote does also pair to the FireTV Stick 4k, the FireTV Stick should also be fine...
Any ideas I could try to get the damn voice remote got paired to the FireTV Stick 4k?
The FireTV 2 remote uses WiFi direct.
The basic edition, 2nd and 3rd gen remotes use Bluetooth.
The WiFi direct remote is not compatible with the 4k Stick.
