Those "Settings" appear as different app/view in multiple tasking view.
for e.g. Settings, 1 view
then i goes to App infor, 1 view
exit
try search and search for any setting, for e.g. Notification, press it. This is another view.
if i go to Multitasking view now, all those will apppear as 3 different setting views.
anyway can remove all the differnt views as all those are part of Settings.
any screenshots?

Different settings view
Here are some views... As can see... All those is from settings view.. why cant all these group under single setting view?
Probably because you don't want to load the whole OneUI launcher if using an other I presume? So I'll say it's for compatibility they separated each activity.
Since Pie, the task manager works differently as Google made it mandatory to (I can't remember the details).
---------- Post added at 09:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 AM ----------
Additionally, it doesn't create an other activity window when they are related, like when you open a link from an app that opens your browser.
I know you can change this behaviour while root, but I don't think it's possible otherwise.

I just upgraded to an ICS build and noticed I cant find a menu option to select "hide contacts with no phone number", so now I have hundreds of contacts to sift through before finding the person I want.
Anyone know where the option is hiding?
Contacts>Settings
hmm I dont have those options, and I dont have "contacts", I just have "people". My menu is different than that if I hit settings.
Usless post Drumrocker that looks like gingerbread to me. AFAIK there is no "hide contacts with no phone number" in ICS. I have looked in vain for it as well. I have Android 4.0.3 on my phone at the moment. Maybe it will be fixed in later release of Android...
It seems logical to include that feature. Why wasn't it? we may never know...

I have seen this before...
The thing is, Samsung with their Galaxy SII ICS Rom and touchwiz interface don't seem to have used the "People" app, rather they still use "Contacts". This was on my stock Three (uk) branded SGS2 ICS phone.
Actually, it's not the same as the stock gingerbread contacts app, because on ICS they have taken away a few of the tabs at the top - something which is really annoying because you have to switch between the dialer app and contacts app in ICS when in gingerbread the tabs were the same across both apps.
I digress..
Samsung's ICS rom is not the same as the vanilla google one.
oh, and the hide "contacts with no numbers" option IS available on the SGS2 ICS stock rom (on three uk anyway).
I can't find it in the people app. I'm now using Resurrection Remix ICS AOKP ROM for Galaxy S2 i9100! [UPDATE][v.1.8.1] [Best ICS ROM], which has the Apex launcher.
For what it's worth, I miss some of touchwiz's tweaks...
---------- Post added at 01:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 PM ----------
oh, and i forgot to say...
you can *sort of* hide contacts in the dialer app, by using customised view, and then removing any accounts which you know don't have phone numbers in..
Great for filtering out email adresses, but not so good where facebook is concerned, as it's likely 50% of your contacts have listed their number....

This is coming from a TouchWiz-based ROM.
1. The AOSP calendar is nice and slick looking, but I can't point and hold a calendar entry and drag it to a new time slot. I HAVE to click edit and manually edit in the new time, meaning you lose visibility of your other appointments.
How do I get the TouchWiz calendar on this AOSP rom, or is there any calendar you can recommend? I would LOVE to get the TouchWiz version of Calendar on the Nexus. I can't drag entries with AOSP calendar. The only other calendar app that can do this is Business Calendar, and here's what it looks like:
This is what a typical day looks like:
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8hfObdeEkVj9SV2NQMYs4tD9pFGyYEySeJ2XOt5Mynk?feat=directlink
Look at the entry for 11:30AM - 12:30PM! It's completely, utterly hidden.
2. "Send Contact Information" seems to be missing. I can't press and hold on a person's number and click "Send Contact Information" to automatically text it to someone with the person's name already filled out. I can only copy the number, then I have to manually click on text, then press and hold to paste, then type in the person's name, and click send.
I'm using Google Voice so this is now a moot point
3. Why doesn't the color coding of my calendar entries match the color coding on my actual desktop Google Calendar?
fixed
4. The stock dailer in TouchWiz is superior to AOSP since I can directly text through the dialer as well.
work-around found
5. Stock calculator in TouchWiz is better since it shows history. This can easily be fixed with another calculator app though.
not a big deal
The big thing for me is the calendar. When you have to manage and shuffle around 20-some entries in a single day, the AOSP Calendar is absolutely un-usable. I need to at least be able to drag and slide around entries. Tried Jorte, aCalendar, Business Calendar. Still can't drag and drop entries.
You can surely text thru the stock dialer, just click the text button.
The calendar doesn't have drag and drop. But I love using the calendar in tablet mode.
Is this thread a Q&A or a rant?
1. True, you cannot. Check the play store. There are 100s of calendars.
2. Not via sms. You can share using many other methods. Just choose a contact, then menu>share.
3. Mine matches up fine on all of my devices.
4. You definitely can. Click on their thumbnail and the contact window will pop up. Or you can click the number and press the "text message" icon on the right.
5. As you said, there are many other options in the play store.

Recommendations on cals that can drag and drop entries? Or how to install the TouchWiz calendar?

Doesn't on mine. I have 10 different color schemes. 5 main ones.

Response in bold.
Another thing:
When I click on any of the contacts it starts to automatically dial them. I would like to click on a contact, view the contact (so that I can share it, copy the number, add in new info, etc), and then if I choose, dial it. Why does it start dialing automatically?
TouchWiz doesn't do this. It actually first goes to a view contact page when you click on the contacts icon through the dialer.

I didn't know you were talking about from the dial pad, but isn't it just as easy to open the messaging app and adding the number there? You can text through the history tab though.
I can't really help you with touchwiz-esque replacements from the play store because I haven't used touchwiz before.
I know you probably have a habit of doing things a certain way; we all do. Perhaps the answer to a few of your issues is learning a new way to go about certain tasks. If not, maybe the Nexus isn't for you, which is fine.
My advice would be to try a bunch of different replacement apps in the play store. Hopefully you will find ones that suit your needs.

This bothered me as well at first till I figured it out. First go into Google calendar on a pc, and set everything to the colors you want (no idea if this can be done thru the phone)
Go to the calender menu and select 'calenders to display' and at the bottom of the list of calendars press the button 'calenders to sync' and make sure everything you want to sync is checked and oress ok.
Go back and select the calenders you want to display in the app, they should have the color coding right next to the names.
Hope this was what you were talking about and that it helps you..

Just press on the picture of the contact (not the name/number) on the left and a pop up will show you the rest of their info. Click on the big picture in the pop up to go to the people app where you can share, edit, etc.

I understand that there's a bias towards the way "things were always done." But in the calendar's case, say that you need to swap two entries.
Entry 1 at 1PM and Entry 2 at 5:30PM. These need to have their times swapped with each other.
In TouchWiz this can be accomplished with two swipes.
In AOSP this needs 10 or more taps, going in and out of the calendar view and the edit entry view, and for you to remember that you need to put Entry 1 at 5:30 (not 4:30, not 6:30), etc.
This is simply a matter of a horrible user interface and user experience.
Is it possible to get the TouchWiz calendar on this device?
Touchwiz is a skin on top, you can try go launcher with is other goodies like go contacts and more.
You can also try the touchwiz ux port search for it. Think its on market too.

Can anyone help me, not sure if this is possible but thought id ask.
Anyway to change the layout of albums in gallery?
Anyone know how to get rid of this annoying notification?
Anyway to change the layout of bookmarks in the stock browser?
Anyway to have the phone open up directly to the dialer? Its extremely annoying searching for a contact thru the search with the extra step.
Anyway to get rid of youtube adds without being rooted. I dont want to pay for their subscription.
Anyway to have the backround on home screen switch randomly to selected pictures?
Anyone recommend a simple task killer? I was using the stock one from samsung on my note 4 but cant find it anywhere.
Anyone know how to change the edge color of choice to an assigned contact?
Again not sure if there is anyway to do this cause i havnt found a way, but maybe someone else has found a way.

I will try that thank you.
Anyone else? Would be much appreciated.
The keyboard notification should be killable by looking pressing the notification and disabling notifications for the keyboard. Works for the Google keyboard. Don't know about Samsung/others.
This links to a system wide add blocker. In theory it should catch everything. I pay for All access/YouTube Red, so i can't tell you if it blocks those ads but seems to work elsewhere.

With the phone, you can just push dialer button instead of searching and it supports old school T9 (?) text entry to quickly get to a contract as well. Didn't see a setting to go straight into it though. You might be able to do it with a Nova activity. I'm sure a third party dialer app or maybe even a widget would be able to do it too.
For the task killer, I just use Android's built in app switcher if I need to close anything. Swipe away individual apps or close all with one button.
Not sure I understand your "edge color of choice"question, but you can assign contacts to the five provided colors if you're talking about "people edge".
Hope this helps.
Never realized that opening Google chrome in Samsung Galaxy Tab A, chrome does not show bookmarks bar. Every time use the three dots for options to select bookmarks. There is no access to chrome appearance section to show bookmarks bar.
Tried entering chrome://settings into Chrome's address bar, but does not take me to chrome settings.
It may be a simple solution, but I need help please

I'm in the same boat
OK, I have a hack.
1) Synch your bookmarks to your desktop browser
2) On your desktop export the bookmark to an html file
--> Feel free to edit the html fle. Get rid of links you don't want. Microsoft Word will edit html.
3) Copy it onto your tablet
4) In your file manager of choice, select the file and create a shortcut onto your homescreen
--> I use Solid Explorer. If you select the file, click on the three verticle dots, "create shortcut"
5) Now, from the home screen, click on the short cut
So this works if you don't add to your favorites everyday. You can repeat this on a monthly basis. Or more or less often depending on your patience. I work at a semicontor factory, and sometimes need to VPN in to the factory to access the manufacturing system. I have a "Work Links" file that has all of the manufacturing links I use on a regular basis. It isn't something I need to update very often.
You can do the same thing with multiple html files.
I think, but haven't tried, that you should be able to go into Chrome settings and set the html file as your home page. That will be left up to you.
Good luck,
Joe

I played with this myself.
So enter "file:///sdcard" into your Android Chrome browser. Navigate to the bookmark html file you created. Hard press the file and "copy link address". Now go to the homepage setting and paste the file link in.
My html file was in the main device memory, under "documents", "professional docs":
file:///sdcard/Documents/Professional%20Docs/Work%20Bookmarks.html
I pasted this into the homepage and sure enough, home opens the local file.

One more update
So if you are synching with Google, you can request a data archive
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3024190?hl=en
https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout/custom/chrome?pli=1
After it completes the backup, there is a link to a zip file. Download it. Inside the file is the bookmarks html file.
Still a hack, but you don't need the desktop.
Joe
Thank you for the descriptive explanation. I was able to get te bookmarks as my homepage.
Attached a screenshot.
How do I get rid of them? They are not in the app list in settings and if I hold down on the icons, the only options are Select Item and Add to Home. If I just tap to open, it just says App does not exist.
I'm not rooted. This happened right after first setup.
Looks like a bookmark that you added to desktop, and then was restored from the cloud incompletely.
Did you use an alternate browser on your previous phone/firmware?
Do these sites appear on your current browser's bookmarks list? Maybe add those to the launcher to see whether it'll "overwrite" these old entries

From a fresh factory reset, before even signing in with my account, and before even connecting to WiFi, I did the de-bloating first. My guess is that something interrupted the process of setting up these shortcuts after debloat.
I never used the browser (chrome). Would these be related to the Samsung browser maybe?
Tried to clear launcher app data&cache?
I ended up just installing the actual apps in the play store, then immediately uninstalling them and that did the trick.
