Would take some nifty XML edits to redirect the background to a png in drawable. Could be done though And glad you like the one I posted. And moved to Q&A

From what I seen that background is controlled by xml. Would take some work getting it to display an image

So could one of you write a tutorial on exactly what needs to be done to the xml files?

Neither one of us have managed to get this thing compiled. We had to actually contact someone else to decompile it

This theme looks really nice, and I'd like to see it ported so I can use it with my EC05 rom.

It's already 90% ported. thomasskull is just extremely slow on the draw. Annnd I haven't heard from him for a while now.
Hopefully this gets finished soon. I would love to be running this theme. It's amazing

Thanks a lot, but it only themed the notification bar, it didn't theme anything else. Images on the lockscreen are replaced with silver ones, but the bars aren't invisible. Would you happen to have a link to the walppaper used in the theme? If not, I'll just make one.

The only files that were in his zip that were themed were the settings app and the frameworks, so that's all i transferred over. It says that he themed more apps in his thread but like I said it only had the settings apk in it. If you go to his orginal thread he has links were he ported it from and on one of those links you can find the icon packs.
Here is the wallpaper. Its also in the theme if you use 7zip its the default wallpaper in the drawable-hdpi folder

Thanks for the wallpaper. The shutdown menu is also themed, and I found the icons he used. I might make more icons and post them in your thread.

I'm currently on Gummy 1.2.2 for the toro and I've been going crazy trying to modify the background color of the softkeys. Not the glow effect, not the keys themeselves, but the actual bar they rest on. I'd like to make it white but if someone could just help me figure out how to change it to begin with it'd be greatly appreciated. I've decompiled the systemui apk and tried editing several xml's but got nowhere with it. It's driving me crazy trying to figure it out. Any help would be awesome. I've searched through the forums and had no luck thus far.

Its all in layout folder the 3 nav xmls are what your going to want to edit and it'd be the first line of each XML when you open it and if you wanna change the nav bg with images I can post the XML so you can see yourself to see what you would need to change

What are you using to decompile ? and there you go, compare my xmls with yours to do the edits i threw in the tracking xml also and thats how you go about having a custom pulldown bg,
1 pulldown back should be about 480x733 gives you a perfect image in portrait and landscape, and you take your image and name it pulldown_bg.png and save in gimp for example
2 navbar backgrounds = navbar01 =400x50, navbar02=50x400 save as png format
3. all three of those images put them in the drawable-xhdpi in sytemui
4. easy to do you should be able to do it on your own let me know if you have any troubles

I'm using an apk manager developed for Mac. I've used it to decompile, theme, and build multiple apk's from my rom. It works pretty awesome. Lol. I use that to decompile and then I use xml edit to change the xmls. I don't have a PC to run the regular apk tool on so I'm unsure if that's where my issue is.

Seems simple enough. I just edited a ton of apps throughout my rom and blacked everything out. Very minimal color with an emphasis on black and white and I think the white nav and Status bars will help keep the contrast along the theme flowing. I can't wait to get home and try it out. Thanks again for the help.
Edit... well it was a no go for me. Cannot figure this out. Here's the xml's that I'm starting with.

Is it recompiling correctly? And if you sign it don't just rename FROM UNSIGNEDSYSTEMUI TO SYSTEMUI and what apktooljars are you using also?

Do you need to be on a custom ROM to be able to do this? Or will stock root work? Also did you replace your navbar background with an image or just changed the color? I am trying to do this but systemui crashes. Any help would be appreciated.

i'm a newbie at this. when you say to change it from inside the XML file, do you mean to change the color using MS paint, for example? can you explain how to do this?

but dont they simply have a theme for that calendar? you know which one i'm talking about? its a dark/black theme that came in the galaxy S2.. i'm 99% sure theres a theme for it here that you can just simply install.
To make it as simple as possible look up this thread named JusTunBeans inverted apps. Has all what you need on there and comes as an aroma setup to.

As stated above, you will need to learn some things in order to get this. But give Android Pro Widgets a try. There's a ton of cool calendar widget themes for the paid version.

I've never played with a S2, but Gmail Widgets by KATZOFT has some nice dark themes. I really like it.

What is "Hex life"?
First time using synergy vs Substratum.
Couple of questions.
When an app in the store updates, do you have to reset back to default theme, recompile, reapply and all that stuff?
When a theme from substratum light updates in the store, do you have to undo everything, recompile, reapply? or?

I hadn't updated my apps then when I did I had to go back to default theme. Uninstall then recompile etc.
Not sure if there is a quicker way? I do miss swift installer how it was so easy to update. Maybe turn off auto update and do it when you have spare time or something haha
