Facebook events and Google Calendar Sync Broken - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

So ever since I setup this RMA device I can never get my Facebook events to sync natively with the Google calendar app. I can force a calendar entry through the Facebook app but I want it to sync to the calendar without me having to do that. I used to be able to choose Facebook as a calendar within Google Calendar but the option has never been there on this device.

syncing google calendar events with S calendar

Does anyone know how to get S calendar to sync old google calendar events?

local calendar

Call me paranoid, but I don't like the idea of keeping my appointments in the cloud.
The problem is, the stock HTC calendar reduces available options when I'm switching from a Google account to either the phone (i.e. HTC Sync) or local account.
Does anyone have any experience with the Google calendar app and local accounts? Is it possible to use it without syncing with Google? Is there any other decent calendar app that would work with a completely local account, with an occasional backup to either SD card or PC?
You can turn off synchronization for Google Calendar under settings.

Somehow on my phone this setting has no effect and Google keeps syncing the calendar.
And then I'm using several gmail accounts, so the events get scattered between different "accounts". I have no idea why a simple list of appointments has to be associated with any kind account.
I don't think you are doing it right when you turned off the calendar sync. Anyway, there is an app called Offline Calendar. Perhaps you could give it a try.
I know this app. It creates a local (offline) calendar, but does not do anything else, you have to use this local calendar as an "account" in some other calendar app, like the stock HTC calendar.
As to turning off sync, I don't think you can do it "wrong". You just go into Google account settings, tap on an account (if you have more than one, like I do) and then there are sync settings, you can choose whether to sync gmail, contacts, calendar, apps, etc. I uncheck all of the boxes except for gmail, since this is the only thing I need to be synced - otherwise I will not be able to read email and that's the whole point of having a Google account. In any case, the calendar sync setting is off and still the HTC calendar app syncs every time I add an event to a calendar associated with a Google account.
Two ideas to try:
1. Use Google calendar with sync turned off. See if it still syncs new event.
2. Stay with HTC calendar and use the offline new account created by that app. Add new event to the offline account.
Try a calendar on the play store that has no sync function........ Or, don't worry. Everyone syncs... If there were security issues, it would be reported all over.
I doubt Google will show up at an event you have scheduled and mug you. ?

Add exchange calendar to calendar app

I am trying to figure out how to add a exchange calendar to any calendar app. I've tried using the default app, Google calendar, and cal, but I don't see anywhere to add an exchange calendar. In play store both Google calendar and cal advertise they are capable of exchange.
Even in the phone "settings", under accounts -> add account, no luck
I'm using cloud magic for my exchange email and it works great.
Didn't know it's so difficult on Android.

I sync between google calendar and exchange calendar with a win program called 'calendar sync +' (free).
I use Agenda Widget for Android to combine calendars in one space as my Exchange is dealt with through Symantec Touchdown.
Have been using the app ever since Jellybean, and unfortunately it hasn't been updated since November 2013, so it worked best with Jellybean. It was unusable with Kitkat. With Lollipop, you will find that the calendar doesn't advance every day (sticks to when the phone has booted), so you either have to "Toggle Today's Events" daily, or reboot daily (I do the former).
Hope this helps.

Asus calendar doesn't sync all events from particular calendar

Greetings, for some reasons I ignore, Asus calendar fails to sync some events of one specific calendar, events from other calendars are synced correctly.
Unfortunately, it happens on the work calendar.
When Google calendar is installed, Asus calendar magically starts showing the missing events, and of course, Google calendar doesn't miss anything, when disabling or uninstalling Google calendar, the events are cleared, re downloaded and some of them are missing on the device.
Missing events correctly display on other devices, Microsoft outlook on the computer, evolution on the laptop, the web gui and so on.
I tried to reset the Google calendar sync application, the calendar storage, the ASUS calendar application, of course, using Google calendar would be a workaround, but I will be left with the mystery of why it doesn't work correctly with ASUS calendar.

Outlook Calendar next event on Always on Display

G'day Team,
Has anyone found a way to get the Always on Display to show the next event from your Outlook Calendar?
I understand it will show the next event from the Google Calendar in Android 9 and have this working correctly however I want to display my Outlook calendar.
I've tried adding my outlook calendar to the Google calendar from within the app (which works in terms of showing the appointments within the app) but the Always on Display will only display events created within the Google Calendar directly.
I love this feature (as an ex-Windows Phone user) but use Office 365\Outlook not Google Calendar.
Any suggestions on how to get around this??
Many Thanks!
I am looking for the same, but I guess AOD is designed to show only Google Calendar events. On a side note, how did you manage to add outlook calendar within Google Calendar app?

you need to share your outlook calendar with either the google calendar or samsung calendar, you can go in google calendar, settings, manage calendar, add ouutlook calenar (put in your username/passoword) if its your personal email calendar, it will show up, if its your corporate calendar, your company would have disabled sharing of calendar for security reasons, and it will give error. check if you can share your corporate calendar to your gmail id. usually its blocked.
was able to successfully show the corporate calendar on AOD, go to the outlook app on your android, and select sync calendars, enable the toggle. it will sync the outlook calendar with the samsung calendar and it will show up on your AOD, just tried it on my s22 plus it works. after hrs of tinkering around.

Considering the Pixel 2XL isn't a Samsung device and doesn't have Samsung apps on board, he'd have to share the calendar with Google Calendar.
Not to mention that we both replied to a post that was dead and buried four years ago.
