Active 2 watch youtube and google translate - Samsung Galaxy Watch

Arent the offical youtube and google translate app support to be on the active 2 watch?
I do not seem them on here.

I also wonder about these things.... In my watch missing too

Just got mine today and same issue

i agree, they are missing from the watch, i know that tecace has a few versions of twitter and also youtube, but they are not the ones we are after, they seem to be the ones you find when you go looking. So i took to twitter and got in touch with support. they kept telling me that i needed to show evidence of these apps and should only trust official sources. Later i sent then more evidence, youtube videos of the stuff in action, straight up cold evidence....... They then said that these apps may be from another region and i needed to check the software version for updates. ( i had already done this) i entertained the idea, and still nothing...
what now? Well, they may just be unreleased until a future version, but it really does make me wonder, why show these on the reviewer versions and then pull them from live. I did also notice that the reviewer didnt have the LTE model, they had the bluetooth just like i did. The reviewer was CNET, if you are wondering which vid i am reffering to. I have also been on reddit and the people there are pointing to the tec ace versions which are on galaxy store.
For now, we just cant get them, but i have noticed there is a way to install "unknown apps" which is kind of the APK file. We just need to find the files, and we are then set!

I have the LTE version so it's not just with the Bluetooth version.
TBH one of the reason why I choose this one was due to the google translate option, I live in a foreign country so this was an extremely useful feature for me.
Good points:
Screen is very bright & clear
First battery cycle lasted about 56 hrs with wifi on and AOD off (not using lte feature) also several re-pairs etc.
Second battery cycle (still in progress) wifi on, AOD on (no lte). so far it's been about 15hrs and the watch is still at 56%
Much much faster than my old ****ty Zenwatch 3 that decided to stop turning on.
Bad Points:
Rotating bezel not on by default (let's deactivate our main selling feature out of the box). In the first few days I have noticed the bezel gets triggered a lot when you have your arms crossed as watch starts vibrating from the haptic feedback.
No Google translate app
No Youtube app (yes, I would actually use this )
No twitter app, not really concerned about this one.
No Samsung Pay option in the wearable app (using OP6T) it's available in my country just not there at all.
Step counter is pretty off, within 5 minutes of putting the watch on I had apparently done 600 steps??? still waiting for the firmware update to arrive to fix this and gps.
Battery charge is a tad slow, about 2.5-3 hrs for a full charge and the watch band for the Stainless Steel LTE version is kinda meh, not terrible but not great either.

Also received mine (44mm Active 2 Bluetooth) in Australia and its missing Google translate and YouTube also.

Thought it was just me that couldn't find the YouTube app. How odd.

i know from looking at the videos that are posted up on youtube, the app is not the one by tecace. I think its just not been released yet from Samsung. maybe the test version that was sent to reviewers was different
the tecace version runs out of uses each day, you get a nag to try again at 9am..... i cant imagine samsung sending out an app that does that.

Anyone find the youtube/twitter apps yet? Extremely irritated by this... when they made such a big deal about it and it doesn't even have it... poor form.

Maybe this article "helps"...

Such a disappointment, these apps go flaky due to too many API hits, then it closes off. Seems wrong of Samsung to advertise such a thing as a selling point then it doesn't actually do it

Yep saw that earlier. Definitely feel misled.
And now the youtube app is MIA altogether...

Did anyone manage to get the watch translator work?
When trying to open the link on my S10 it says "not available on your phone"

I've got the translate app. I downloaded it through the watches app store. I didn't look for the Youtube app or the Twitter app.

UK WP7 Users

Ok, so I have seen people complaining from all over the globe as to what problems they've encountered and also people talking about what they like.
Now I would like the perspective of a UK user about any gripes or pleasantries that they have with this new phone OS.
With that I mean even the most minute of details lol.
I'm in the UK and i'm considering WP7 for information purposes.
It works exactly the same as it does in the US.
The only thing we don't get is the 10 credits per month for Zune Pass. It's purely rental only you don't get to keep any of the music once you stop paying. Think Spotify but cheaper and actual physically downloading files and you've got it.
So how about bing maps, how do you find it?
Bing maps is absolutely fine in the UK, note that ATM it does not include turn by turn with voice guidance, nor does it have frills like googles streetview, but as a map app it does the trick.
yea i can say the same for australia. sure there isn't any POI (maybe they could utilise facebook places? come on MS, wise up ), but still, it works fine for me. people like the look of the maps when i show them, how it fuzzy and then comes into display, rather than blocks appearing (like Google). though, with Google's new maps being capable of offline storage due to vector graphs instead of bitmaps, they will be able to do a lot more.
It works pretty well the only thing it's missing over Google Maps on Android is Turn by Turn and Streetview.
It'll find most places, even if you were to type in Tesco you'd see the nearest supermarkets.
It's been great for me.
Very easy to use and it's so smooth. I upgraded from a Touch HD and the difference is staggering.
Marketplace and Zune are both great.
Bing maps i've had absolutely no problems with. Would be nice in a future update to get the OS view that you get on bing maps desktop.

Google Now.. Worthless?

I'm not trying to start an argument but I just like to know exactly what the point of Google Now is.
I've had my GNex for around 4 weeks now and despite me setting up Now correctly (defining home, work etc), it never shows me anything useful. Occasionally it shows me a route to work and a route home but they are totally the worst route that I could take. It never seems to learn any route and if I dare to look at Location History in Google maps, all I see are a bunch of crazy lines that in no way represent where I've actually travelled! It's like someone strapped my Nexus on a bird's back and started shooting at it!
For example, I took a day off yesterday and stayed at home, but late in the day I took my daughter to the shops 3 miles away. Location History says that I travelled 40miles with a bunch of random lines all over the map!
The weather has only ever popped up once in the last few weeks and vanished a couple of minutes later.
It never shows anything of any interest anywhere I go (ok, this may be where I live )
Is this a UK thing or is Google Now genuinely useless and a work-in-progress?
I'm using a nexus 7 and personally I love Google now, I have no trouble with it and weather is fine

Seems like you might have your GPS off. That kind of erratic behavior as far as location goes make me think it's only going by cell towers/WiFi hotspots, which is not entirely accurate.
I will admit though, it's not as informational as I thought it would be, but it will improve with time. I do have a schedule on my phone for work, and every single instance is named "Work". Because of this, it calculates how long of a commute I should expect, and let's me know what time I need to leave by.
It also displays my favorite NFL team's next game about 2 days in advanced, and displays the score for the rest of the day the day of the game.
It also always displays restaurants near me, but I've never really used that feature.
95% agree. I'm in UK too and cannot see the value yet.
The weather does pop up pretty often, say twice a day?
The travel reports are ok. When my alarm goes off for work Now shows my route and time which is helpful for me, but could live without.
I searched for a restaurant recently and Now popped up with a travel card, directions and time. That was cool.
But the question is; where is Google going with Now? Can we expect more great development in the near future?

i think outside us google now is crap. hope they introduce more services with android 4.2.
Mine is pretty useful, even if just for the traffic info between home and work. The weather info isn't as useful as I typically have weather on my homescreen as a widget. But I have Google Now display the local Baseball and Football team scores. I don't follow sports much but I do like the information.
Honestly I don't use mine as much either. I can't seem to make it talk anymore. Most results are just google results. Seems like when I had it setup from the original leaked JB rom, every response was spoken.
Granted I still use the search feature like I always have to find local restaurants and phone numbers, etc.

Actually, my GPS is on all the time!
For weather, try checking the settings? Mine is set to show in the morning and evening and they always show up fine. It is not that useful for me since I already have weather widgets on my home screen but oh well.

You sure your not using apple maps?
Maybe it is a regional/country-specific thing? I'm located in the US near Boston and it works pretty well for me.
I use it often because it'll show me my commute to work when I'm home, my commute to home a few hours before I leave work, movies on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays, places I've searched for and how long it'll take to get there (restaurants, shops, etc.), weather warnings for my area, flight information (I don't fly often but experienced this recently, very cool), restaurant recommendations, score updates for the teams I follow, and my next calendar event and how long it'll take to get there if there's an address attached. Public transit directions (subway, bus) will also show up when I'm walking around Boston.
I noticed over the last month or so that Google Now became "better" than it was before. I'm not sure if it's because I've been checking into places I eat at or visit but now it's giving me 4-6 recommendations on average. Maybe try checking into more places? I only share my checkins with close family on Latitude if you're not comfortable with doing that.
If you want to get a feel for a really in-your-face Google Now experience, I recently went on a trip to New York City, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles and my Google Now exploded. I attached some screenshots to show you!
Google Now doesn't even recognize what I'm saying, its useless for me
Google Now always recognizes my voice and has relevant information for weather and traffic for me, it only took about a month to learn my travel habits. The only thing I am unhappy with GN is it doesn't know SEC scores/games/teams, Siri does.
Now works for me in the UK, but only when it feels like it. Cards randomly disappear and the GPS drain, for me, is not a decent tradeoff. I do use it for routing to recently searched addresses so that all well and good, nut constantly polling for weather and other travel alerts is a no go for me. It needs IMO to be opened up to devs so BBC and sky news can be sent to it, then it would be worthwhile. Apart from that I use seperate widgets for everything.

Google now is cool, but I found it, in combination with location services to be a huge battery hog.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I am in the US and find it basically useless. However, I think part of that has a lot to do with what you want to get out if it.
The maps usually showed me the worst way to get to work or not up-to-date weather info.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
only use it for weather and set the alarm, its basically a lazy way to do things on your phone/tablet. it does work alot faster than the one on the iphone(siri)

I don't use Google Now, just not worth the battery drain of location always being on.
Google Now is OK, but I'm having the same issue with location history
Generally, I find Google Now to be fine, but when I look at location history, I see the same symptoms as you. It seems to me that at times, it thinks that it is at home while I'm out. The location history map online really shows what's happening.
I do disable WiFi when I'm not near a known hotspot that I use (Tasker, using Cell Near to enable and when WiFi connected to populate the list), and I'm wondering if that might be related. I'll try leaving WiFi on to see what happens.
Does anyone know how to tell where the location data is coming from? I'm thinking of rerolling my own with Tasker, based on Cell ID when not charging if this doesn't get fixed soon.

I forgot to mention - this is on a Galaxy Note II. I know I'm in the wrong forum, but thought it was interesting that the issue was the same.

Google Fit not counting steps without phone

Hi all,
I couldn't find a similar topic in the SW3 forum, so apologies if this is a duplicate. I'm finding my SW 3 (running 5.1.1) will not count my steps on its own, only when I have my phone with me. I only got the watch a couple weeks ago, so not sure if it is a problem with the 5.1.1 update. As far as I understand, the watch should be able to count the steps on its own and then sync with my phone later...is this not correct? I know it has GPS to track runs with Endomondo, but I thought it had its own pedometer as well.
If this is indeed supposed to work, any ideas to fix it?
Welcome to the nightmare that is google fit. It's just awful and broken. Sync always screws up between the watch and the phone. It really is a joke. I honestly don't understand how google can allow something like this to happen. I use the jawbone up app, only version 4.4 because the latest update broke android wear compatibility. Works perfectly. I'll just wait till google get their act together. Hopefully it'll be soon.

Sync doesnt work properly with messages either if you dismiss it on the watch it still shows on the phone and tablet.

Oh, darn. I really wanted this watch for the fitness features. Bummer that one doesn't work.
edit: So I'm doing some testing and I suppose it really is Fit not syncing. Present my watch indicator for steps (Pujie Black, that is supposed to be connected to Fit) says 2282. Google Fit (app on watch and phone) says 2223. I just left my phone and walked around the office a bit. Indicator didn't change from 2282, but when I opened the Fit app on my watch I saw it quickly change from 2223 to 2249 and then back to 2223. Phone also says 2223. That is incredibly frustrating.

permissions off?
try going into the settings and then permissions, i found that in the permissions menu google fit did not have permission to access the sensors, this could possibly be the problem

Wear translate, the app that no one actually cares about

So I attempted to use the new translate feature in the android update. To make sure I was using the right app I attempted to search some guides or users demonstrating it... and could come up with none. There are 10 million sites who read off the release notes for the update, but not a single one actually used it. Ok I lied, there is a japanese guy on youtube who did.
Soooo..I ran the app and attempted to use it on some youtube videos, it either worked pretty good like on spanish and dutch (I hope to use this for the rare but occasional Spanish speaking customers I run into) but failed catastrophicly on asian languages. Most of the time it sat there listening and translating nothing as if IT didn't understand what they were saying.
Also more proof no one actually used it, the watches time out is still in effect. So I have mine set to 10 seconds, so if I translate more than 10 seconds the watch shuts off and I lose it all.

Kevo stopped working, but there is a workaround

Mates,
I don't know if the Kevo/Kwikset app folks are dumb, lazy or if there is some fee they have to pay to support new phones, but hear my tale of woe, with a happy ending (a minstrel on a mandolin is playing in the background as you read this).
I put Kevo locks everywhere when they first came out with android support. When they work, it is one less key I have to carry, one more thing my everpresent phone can do. They were announced as partners for the Gear S2 which, as we all know, is bull. The tech writers who said it worked were clearly Samsung lapdogs.
The Kevo website says that the app won't work on the Galaxy S7 edge but it did. Right from the start, right out of the gate. Then T-Mobile rolled out a patch last week and it stopped. Nothing. Bupkus. Google Play says the app is not supported by my device.
A little bit of searching led to the actual newest Kevo apk. I downloaded it, deleted the old app, installed it and voila! Back in business. The new version supports remote open and close, which I haven't checked yet- I bought an upgraded lock but it isn't installed.
So, there you have it. I have no idea why Kevo/Kwikset/Unikey didn't test with the newest phones, why they don't know it works or whatever. Their developers are much more interested in supporting iOS and the sheeple that use it, but it will work for us too!
where did you find the latest? i looked for almost 2 hours and the best i could come up with was the 0.99 beta in the google groups. had to sideload an app that lets you change your device to trick Play into letting you install it.
Googled Android kevo apk, found version 1.2.57.2p everywhere. I presumed that was the latest since it has the remote buttons on it.
yeah i saw those results as well, but none of the apk downloaders worked for me. several even said their 'device' was incompatible, which was the same problem i was having.
I'm in the same boat. I have an S7 Edge and while kevo still works with just the proximity and tap lock to open...I've never been able to get the tap to unlock/lock work. Even on my moto360 (gen1) kevo force closes non stop. Another problem I had was my old S5 was on Lollipop and it worked, but then Tmo rolled out the update to MM and now it doesn't even see the lock. I've had multiple emails to Kevo and the only thing I get is that "We're sorry, we have no plans to support MM".
If you got anything to help out with Kevo working on Marshmallow, then I'd appreciate it as well!
I might be a little late on the the subject but I had the Kevo app since the beginning from my Note 4 on KK all the way up to My Note 5 on MM. I rarely use my Moto 360 (1) to open the door but this time I did and the watch went haywire and kept showing a notification indicating that the app is no longer working. So I decided to uninstall the Kevo app and then proceeded to sync the watch and phone, stopping the annoying notification. When I went to the app store to reinstall I found the "phone not compatible"..
Well, decided to sideload to have the Kevo app to look and work the same way I had it before.. after several attempts I figured it out. 1st sideload the Kevo 0.9.58p apk, sign in, then sideload the updated version 1.2.57.2p and it will finally look and feel like the updated one on Lollipop. Sefar is right, why the devs were so lazy in checking for compatibility is beyond me but it works.!!
